Is there any other active OP forum besides OJ & AP? All others I know/knew have shut down or died down…

Don't know about dedicated forums but the One Piece thread on TV Tropes' forums stays active.

Lot of new posts itt, did a war break out? Was there a major scientific discovery? Did a revolution occur?
Or maybe a website shut down…
-
Their website has been shut down because of insane copy right issues. I mean, I don't even understand how/why it happened.
The admin tried to "fight" this–---- and it seems like it didn't end well -

They're not sending their best posters. They're sending "Marines are the Final Boss" people, they're sending "Akainu is actually correct" people.
-
I never been on Oro Jackson. Are…um...nice? I'm not hearing good things here.
Also, are we getting a rush of migrants? I'm seeing many people say bad things about a wave of new people coming to this place with regret, and I can't help but feel it's topical and coincidental.
Arlong Park should build a wall. :ninja:
Edit: Kaiolino beat me to it by like an hour. I think.
-
How are we going to build a firewall and make Oro Jackson pay for it if they spend all of their money on attorneys?
-
We don’t have to be mean, peeps :P if AP suddenly shut down I’d be pretty bummed.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
It's been taken down by fraudulent copyright claims, nobody was banned
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Has Arlong Park had any dealings with false copyright claims recently?
I’d suggest making an intro thread so maybe you can reconnect with others who register around now.
Edit: My bad, you already did. After now though, you can take full conversations with others to visitor messages as well. You can also use the “How was your day” thread as a general chat.
-
I never visited OJ forums. Are we rivals or something? I'd hate for them to come here and see us acting like a bunch of elitist assholes, especially over something unfortunate like this. We're all fellow fans after all.
Is there any specifics on why they are in copy right trouble? Scanlations or something?
-
I'm not sure if the 'reason' is still the same but a couple of months ago OJ was getting bogus copyright hassles from members saying Gday on their introduction threads. You see there's a Korean Webtoon called Gday and the publishers of that webtoon hired the services of a German copyright law firm called Comeso who did a keyword search that found OJ somehow guilty of copyright infringement because of said introduction threads. Comeso is guilty of perjury at the least, there's is no way that a common Australian greeting, used countless times is somehow a crime that can get your forum shut down.
Not sure if that is what is happening this time but that was the situation as I understood it last. Check Facebook for more information

That would be so bogus to get sued over, my god. Utterly ridiculous.

Hold on. Korean webtoon studio asks aid to a German law firm to shut down a American website because of a 4 letter word?

Guys be nice to the OJ people, you're supposed to be pro-immigration that should apply online too… unless you're willing to admit that you're not okay with immigrants who don't share the values and beliefs of your society :ninja: #NotsodifferentAfterall #Xenophobia #RefugeeCrisis

I get that the ninja emoji implies smug glibness, but comparing irl refugees who lose everything, get displaced, and sometimes die, to people who can't use a forum anymore, in service of a "take that, libruls!" jab, is disgusting.
Anyway yeah, back to business here, please. OJ stuff does not constitute "random news articles."

I heard that the order to switch the consulate(I think) from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem was given in 1995, but neither Clinton, Bush or Obam would actually do it for obvious reasons.
Then Trump happened, and human lives are at terrible risk over there. Wtf… -

Because its a Australian 4 letter word used to greet others. They must be bigots it seems.
… or afraid of shortened greetings. -

My bad, poor attempt at dark humour, the joke was supposed to relate to the fact that Oro Jackson is a boat and it's sunk and they're displaced now… but yeah, uh, looking at it like you've just put it it's not as funny as it sounded in my head, my bad.
Apologies.
-
I just want to let you know that you guys are great and OJ people are able to take a joke. I'm mainly concerned that this forum gets taken down next, these shady lawyers don't even need a reason
The 'out of context' thread is some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen

Disney has the rights for Pulp Fiction after all
Also, does that mean that we're gonna get X-Men x Avengers crossovers one day ? Or am I missing something ? Is Sony involved too ??
-

Yes, it very much means that. Although we still don't know how things are going specifically with the Fantastic Four. Their rights are actually shared between FOX and a German company called Constantin Films. But Disney mentions on their website that they have Fantastic Four, so… I guess they have everything for the MCU now. Aside from Universal possibly still owning the individual movie production rights of Hulk and the Sub-Mariner (this is why you see Hulk in movies like The Avengers and Thor: Ragnarok without having a solo film since the 2000's).
Sony isn't involved with this. They had a deal with Marvel separate from all of this years ago, and it was only about Spider-Man. They aren't owned by Disney while 20th Century FOX is now owned by Marvel. Sony own the rights to Spider-Man and his stories/characters only, and their deal with Marvel Studios is essentially that Marvel gets all the money and creative control out of Spider-Man films taking place in the MCU while Sony gets all of the money and creative control over Spider-Man films taking place outside of the MCU. So far, Sony is independently making a solo Venom movie not connected to the MCU and an animated Ultimate Spider-Man: Miles Morales film called Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Fuckin russians legitimazing domestic abuse and punishing the victims.
Now the victims have to pay the abusers' fine.
Probably all justified by Orthodox chistian doctrine (which is controlled by the state), truly distopian…

Putin, I know you are a viper but even snakes have standards.
-
Probably all justified by Orthodox chistian doctrine
No .
(which is controlled by the state)
Yes .
-
@Monkey:
No
If not a religious thing, why would the russian gov. take such a backward stance on domestic violence (for exemple decriminalising it)? The patriarch strongly insist on the importance of "conservative" family values after all, which is pretty much encouragement for such backwards legislation.
I mean, even the patriarch of russia said that "Orthodoxy must defend itself" and fight against the "heresy" of human rights, which "contradicted the Bible".
-
See, the problem here is that you're reading Russian Orthodox as Russian Orthodox.
A more accurate reading these days is RUSSIAN Orthodox.
-

The point is, the church and the state ARE pretty much the same thing in Russia (and perhaps orthodox states in general) unless I'm mistaken. Hand in hand, to screw the people…
The church supports the state and the state supports the church. I think church officials are even EMPLOYED by the state.
So I don't see what is the distinction you seem to make between "russian" and "orthodox" since they are one and the same...
-
I wish there was actual Russians on this forum
Actually, I don't even know if OnePiece is famous in Russia

We do have a Russian on this board.

Which naturally means it is totes in the special Orthodox bible that domestic violence is awesome.
I also think you don't understand Orthodox Christianity organizationally at all and are just imprinting Catholicism over it, and also might think Russian Orthodoxy is a sect of its own or something.

Orthodox churches have never wielded the same sort of power the Catholic Church historically had, they have a long history of subservience to whatever state they're in. Not a coequal relationship, let alone power over the state.
It is a far far far more decentralized entity, and always has been. Broken up in smaller pieces by nation it never had some huge international clout that Rome did.Putin gets the church to do what he wants, and the sort of people advancing in its ranks that he prefers. Just like the Tsars and Communists before him.
And yeah, earth to Sparsebeard, authoritarian conservatism loves authoritarian conservative religious leaders.Edit: And I'm just assuming you're aware that Eastern Orthodoxy is explicitly not = Russian Orthodoxy, and are getting tangled up in your own semantics.

We definitely have other Eastern Orthodox people. Because y'know, Russia doesn't own Eastern Orthodoxy.
-
Is this directed to me ? Or to Sparesbeard ?
What I meant was : I wish someone from/living in Putin's country would sometimes post on this thread (or the other one) about issues involving Putin.
-
@Monkey:
Which naturally means it is totes in the special Orthodox bible that domestic violence is awesome.
And I'm sure there are no quotes at all in the bible emphatising the sanctity of mariage (impling you don't break it over any triffle other than death) and the right (nay, duty) of a man to "correct" his wife when she "errs"…
EDIT : There probably are quotes to the contrary too, I admit. I don't want a theological discussion since I barely know enough about religion to dismiss it as a way of thinking...
@Monkey:
I also think you don't understand Orthodox Christianity organizationally at all and are just imprinting Catholicism over it, and also might think Russian Orthodoxy is a sect of its own or something.
How can you say that russian orthodoxy (like other versions of orthodoxy in other countries ex: georgia) is not a sect of it's own when the next thing you say is :
@Monkey:
Orthodox churches have never wielded the same sort of power the Catholic Church historically had, they have a long history of subservience to whatever state they're in.
Which basicly means that each country has it's own version of the religion according to what the gov. dictates the clergy to say?
@Monkey:
Not a coequal relationship, let alone power over the state.
It is a far far far more decentralized entity, and always has been. Broken up in smaller pieces by nation it never had some huge international clout that Rome did.Hasn't this been what I was saying all alone???

Perhaps I expressed myself wrongly, because of course I was speaking of orthodoxy in the russian context. Since Each "orthodoxy" is pretty much what the local gov. decides it is.
Unless you thought that I meant that the Russian patriarch has a say over other countries "orthodoxies" which is nonsensical if you make any effort to understand the meaning of my previous posts… Sure perhaps parts of the post where perhaps a bit confusing but if you read them as a whole I think it's clear I was talkig about russian orthodoxy.
-
And I'm sure there are no quotes at all in the bible emphatising the sanctity of mariage (impling you don't break it over any triffle other than death)
Another fun fact about Orthodox Christianity that you are papering over with a Catholic frame of reference, is they don't give all that much of a crap about divorce.
How can you say that russian orthodoxy (like other versions of orthodoxy in other countries ex: georgia) is not a sect of it's own when the next thing you say is :
Because they're not. Patriarchs are like much much more powerful bishops in a sense. They have their jurisdiction and flock, but they're part of something larger than that at the same time.
The Eastern Orthodox church is not a category of churches, it is one church. Just much much less centralized than the Catholic church.
All Eastern Orthodox churches are in communion with one another, with Constantinople/Istanbul as the mutually recognized center.
Basically this.the next thing you say is :
Orthodox churches have never wielded the same sort of power the Catholic Church historically had, they have a long history of subservience to whatever state they're in. Which basicly means that each country has it's own version of the religion according to what the gov. dictates the clergy to say?
1. I am talking historically, in most modern Orthodox countries the governments aren't doing that sort of thing. Because most of those governments are no longer authoritarian.
In the cases of Russia (and Belarus) obviously we have a different story.2. But the main difference is you were making some sort of bizarre simultaneous theological attack on the Eastern Orthodox church while also rightly attacking the agenda of those in charge secular wise and individually. As if the state of the Russian Orthodox church at current is some sort of inherent all time sin it bears. Really the confusion arises from your confused original premise. Because you weren't separating them.
The problem and maybe the miscommunication is that instead of attacking the crusted over conservative assholes in charge of the Russian Orthodox church, secular and otherwise, it sounded like you were plain out attacking the church period.
Which let's be honest you have a history of doing.I mean I get that you're a hardcore Euro style secularist, but the legacy that has from Catholic history just doesn't apply so well here.
The church is just another bludgeon and puppet of nasty states whose agendas are the usual authoritarian shit. Not the nasty authoritarian club itself as in old school Catholicism.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

What I meant was : I wish someone from/living in Putin's country would sometimes post on this thread (or the other one) about issues involving Putin.
I do and I don't. Because it is a crapshoot.
We might get a Russian who is sober to it all, or one who fully buys into the Putin cult of personality.
The best thing we have is an ethnic Russian from Lithuania, who has his obvious cares and sympathies to the motherland, while not being plugged into crazytown itself. Silverblade.
