The Accidental Maverick.
When you literally can't lose a single vote to avoid an even split, of course you delay it when one of your guys is out.
Guys, maybe if you just, I dunno, tried to fix Obamacare rather than outright delete it with no replacement you'd make some headway?

Problem is they can't do that because OBAMA BAD!. You could also say it's because DEMOCRATS BAD!. McConnell at one point used bipartisanship as a threat.

I hope this keeps up and they just give up, but I find that unlikely.
I just have to accept that I probably won't have health insurance by the end of the year…

If things stall until September, when the fiscal year changes, then, as I understand it, they won't be able to use Reconciliation anymore which means they won't be able to make this a 50 vote deal. If they really want to do anything with the ACA after that they're going to have to work with Democrats like it or not.
That's why McConnell delayed the start of what otherwise would've been a month long recess.
The Trump legal team have begun doing damage control for Fredo by throwing the Secret Service under the bus.
Fearless leader has an approval rating of 36% currently. He's not worried though because that's almost 40%.

There's also the fact that Senators and reps are expected to hold town halls when they're on recess, and a number of GOP representatives have displayed a fear of facing their angry constituents.
Now hold up, if, according to that lawyer, the Secret Service had to vet that meeting doesn't that mean Il Douche was there since he would have been the only recipient of their protection at the time?
Today I idly wondered how deep in shit McConnell would be if McCain died during surgery. The Golden Tickets have been handed out, it's all hands on deck.

No, its the secret service's fault for not retroactively taking care of Jr. two months before they started taking care of him.
America’s Health Insurance Plans and BlueCross BlueShield Association sent a letter to Senate leaders warning them that the Cruz amendment is a disaster waiting to happen.
Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price decided to bluntly clarify how Trumpcare is intended to work.

My understanding here is that this 36% is tallying together various polls, since Gallup and some others have hit that low (and a bit lower) before.
The only reason it's this "high" is that the economy is doing well.

He hasn't been in office long enough to have a major effect, give him a bit.
Honestly, seeing all of this is making me more and more depressed. I'm becoming more and more aware of the fact that the Democrats are so fractured now… I'm worried that no matter how good the candidates we put up in 2018 or 2020 are, the new contingent of "If the person running as Democrat doesn't 100% perfectly line up with all of my political leanings, then it's not worth voting for them" are gonna just keep ruining things going forward.
I'm worried we're stuck with Republican rule indefinitely from here on out, and that includes Trump winning a second term no matter how unpopular he is.

I kind of want to see this now, yet I fear wishing for McCain's death would somehow cause one of my grandparents to die. Probably the one I secretly like better too.
Still, in all this mess is ridiculous how they're struggling to get votes.
Trump White House promotes "Made in America Week"; goes about how you'd expect.

A reminder that there wouldn't be a chance of this getting passed in Clinton was elected.

Or knowing him, he'd probably be able to get Heller back on board and use McCain's death to his advantage. He might look like a turtle, McConnell has always been a weasel at heart.

It's just been introduced to the house…I keep saying to myself. Over and over.
Future edit: Actually wait, I've seen bills like this before, but forgot. A bill like this being introduced really isn't a sign that it'll pass.
Republican Chris Smith tries to introduce a bill to literally, literally ban all abortion in the U.S every now and again. It never goes anywhere.

Uuuuuuugh…. they won't stop till they make sure our status as second class citizens is firmly planted and un-fixable will they?...
The whole Russia thing has literally had me eject my brain out of my head because it got so confused that it can't fantom this entire shit. But I'm serious, why can't they not just resolve this case? If they keep it up, Trump would likely garner sympathy from his fans then harming him without gathering any soild evidence of Trump dealings to hurt him. I do believe that the Democrats are doing not much about his dealings.
There's not a whole lot that can be done with the GOP in control of Congress. Democrats can keep up the pressure but, without a change in the Senate and House, it's up to the Republicans to do anything right now.
Even insurance companies hate the Cruz Amendment.

The more unpopular Trump gets, the sillier it gets that there's daily "Trump voters still like Trump" articles.
The only one to come close to this level of unpopularity is Gerald Ford.. and that was after several years of Watergate and pardoning Nixon.
A note warning Sen.Dean Heller(R-Nev.) to vote against the GOP healthcare bill was taped to the door of the his district office on Sunday, according to Monday reports, saying that the author would lose their life if the reform legislation passes - and so would Heller.
The Nevada Independent reported the note told Heller that the individual would lose his healthcare should the senator vote for the GOP legislation to repeal and replace ObamaCare, and that the writer, and Heller, would die as a result.
The Independent saidprevious reportsthat the senator's office had been broken into were incorrect, but that the individual in question unlawfully entered the federal building.
So where was Mitch McConnell yesterday?

I can only assume hiding in his shell inside of his tank.

Four Republicans block Obamacare repeal bill in Senate
Moran and Lee are the latest to say they won't let this version of the bill move to the Senate floor.

Rejoice. Once again the Republican Party in general, and the Tea Party in particular, have saved Obamacare!
You'd like to think that this signals a flicker of morality on us part of the GOP. Sadly, it means some GOP senators don't think the bill is cruel enough. It doesn't make enough cuts.
What the hell.
At least its down for now, but I'm sure it'll rear it's head again eventually.
Now, about the destruction of Net Neutrality they're trying to sneak by…

When you're trying to act tsundere but really don't like the party you're helping or doing favors for.

Hence my ironic "Tea party saves Obamacare!" line.
The court ruling for the travel ban is that it will not apply to relatives of U.S. citizens. They can atleast get visas now.
Bipartisan legislation passed in California extends the state's cap-and-trade policy through 2030, along with a more expansive air quality bill.
A nice reminder that (some) Republicans can still push for their beliefs while supporting progress.
With Repeal and Replace defeated, McConnell tried for pure repeal. That option is essentially Dead on Arrival because 3 Republican senators are already saying they'd vote no
Just saw this, thought it might be relevant given our Venezuelan members

Note that the Californian Republican Party is basically a burned-out husk of a party.
I'm honestly surprised that there was even eight of them.
I'm extremely uncomfortable with the prospect of Trump getting involved in what's going on in Venezuela. To any capacity. Why?
Fearless leader wants his border wall to be transparent. Here's how he explains it.
"One of the things with the wall is, you need transparency," Trump said. "You have to be able to see through it. In other words, if you can't see through the wall—so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what's on the other side of the wall."
"And I’ll give you an example. As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don't see them—they hit you in the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It's over," Trump said. "As crazy as that sounds, you need transparency through that wall."
^Perfect example.
In other news, Jared Kushner's legal defense for his involvement in the Fredo scandal is to throw his staff under the bus.
lol, I always have a good laugh when I read what the Douche said about the transparent wall lmfao.

Kind of. There was a Republican Governor less than a decade ago and the state GOP still spawns renowned dipshits like Darrell Issa and Kevin McCarthy.
And Devin Nunes and Dana Rohrabacher.
Though I feel like Arnie mostly won because he's Arnie. Maybe Caitlin Jenner will succeed in her Senate bid as well!

I was going to bring those douchebags up to question that claim.
Though I feel like Arnie mostly won because he's Arnie.
And because California apparently didn't learn their lesson from electing Reagan.
Maybe Caitlin Jenner will succeed in her Senate bid as well!
Oh great another one.

Is that a good thing? I recall Jenner is a Republican.

Idea: Don't build the wall, but tell Trump it actually IS there, but every not as transparent as he could hope
Caitlin Jenner is a garbage person.
