He's a Hollywood Republican that was never a party insider. He can only be so conservative in liberal California.

Arnie's only a Republican because he saw Nixon giving a speech just after he arrived in America, which also happens to be the only story on record of Richard Milhouse Nixon being inspiring.

@Monkey:
Among other things, you have to remember that Trump's actual attempt at making up with the CIA was this.
Long story short, there is a wall in the CIA headquarters where they have a bunch of stars engraved into it. Each one standing for a CIA person who died in the line of duty. This is like a holy site for them.
And this is what Trump did in front of it, giving a mini speech to CIA people.]
That reads like a Chavez speach, when he rambled in between the hate parts

Yay now the mentally disturbed can protect themselves and aid us in preventing mass shootings.
So when it comes to basic human rights, guns somehow score higher than, like, equality?
This never ceases to confuse me. Seriously, I can't wrap my head around this gun culture the US have. It seems to overwrite common sense in a lot of disturbing ways, like this one^
Wait, hold on a sec. When some of the school shootings happened, weren't people (and politicians) speaking out for a better mental healtcare system, so these can be prevented? Because in several cases it was speculated that the shooter had some serious mental problems? Why give guns to these people all of a sudden? What the hell?
Please tell me I'm wrong in my way of thinking because this seems like a rather bad comedy.Wtf Oklahoma. http://alternativemediasyndicate.com/2017/02/15/oklahoma-court-forced-oral-sex-not-rape-victim-unconscious-drinking/
Somebody, please, educate these people about the meaning of "consent". It's not that hard of a concept to grasp and it's a step toward understanding and/or defining rape in general.

Good god why.
She, once her husband is released, is the most likely next first lady, baring total collapse of whatever democracy is left or assassination.

They're exactly the same sort of creature. Populists.
One far-right, one far-left. -

Please tell me I'm wrong in my way of thinking because this seems like a rather bad comedy.I didn't get it for a long time, but I get it now. Gun culture is just something that's deeply rooted into the history and social constructs of the United States, and it really isn't going anywhere. To some, owning a gun and having the freedom to own one is part of the American identity, and no amount of deaths will ever change that.
That said, not everyone's on the same side and there's a massive divide on the topic of gun control, thus the exasperated reactions you usually see here whenever an attempt towards gun control fails :P

I want more gun control. Not so much restricting guns, but at least forcing people to learn gun safety and at least how to aim the damn things. I'd feel a lot safer if there was a "gun license" similar to a "driver's licence" stating that they have gone through their safety stuff enough to be allowed to have a gun and use it.
But, this invariably would mean less people would be allowed to have guns…so it's unlikely even if it makes perfect sense to me.

According to my twitter feed, Trumo is holding one of his most deranged pressers yet. Bragging about best electoral win since Reagan, inheriting a mess from Obama, admin is running like a "fine-tuned machine", murdering immigrants roaming the streets…

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things needs to be explained.

I checked it out and he's just sort of rambling incoherently with the only thing resembling a theme being "IN SPITE OF WHAT YOU THINK ACTUALLY EVERYTHING IS SUPER GOOD IN MY ADMIN", which only makes it seem more crazy.

A quick aside I meant to post earlier:
To help Idaho, Otter wants Trump to crack down on states with liberal marijuana laws
In short, my state's Republican governor wants the federal government to get involved against something that was decided on the state level by our neighbors.
Also, Washington Post transcript of Trump's conference:
-
NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST
If theres two words I'd prefer Trump not invoked, those'd be it

Yeah, your post demonstrates the American indecision on guns in everyday life, but to other countries that don't have place much importance on guns in their culture, the default reaction is: Why not restrict guns?! Less guns! Nobody needs guns!
So yeah, it's a pretty interesting cultural contrast.
-
Since you mention it, has he?
In the press conference just now. The gist I got was "we need good relations with russia, to avoid a nuclear holocaust".
Yikes

Ain't it funny how Rebuplicans claim they are against big government?
Its more like "We want less government … unless its something we don't like then its more big government the better?"
What do they don't like? It differs from nutcase to nutcase but at the core is often drugs, women's rights, illegals, women's bodies, gun control, environmental protection, women having freedom of choice, science, and women in general. OF course there's more but that's the core issues they don't like -
That conference was a mess. He's rambling aboutbit being Flynn's job to have called the tussians but he Didn't order him to. But if Flynn hadn't called he would have told him to. What the ever loving fuck?
-
Trump asking a female black reporter to set up a meeting for him with the congressional black caucus must be Peak Trump.
-
@Serra:
I want more gun control. Not so much restricting guns,
Keep in mind the NRA thinks that weapons like AK's and RPG's are things that they actually think ordinary citizens should have…..along with silencers, restricting guns are just as important as regulation.
Because as shown people can't help themselves from being stupid.
@Serra:
but at least forcing people to learn gun safety and at least how to aim the damn things.
Oh most people who have guns in this country have no problem aiming them their problem is that have no concept of restraint in not using them or in spite of having been trained in gun safety anyway accidentally shooting someone generally themselves.
And yes Trump's press conference is more bullshitting, more lying, more misblaiming, and just just plain more stupid.
-
@Daz:
In the press conference just now. The gist I got was "we need good relations with russia, to avoid a nuclear holocaust".

And the worst part was he was talking like he wasn't aware of of a "nuclear holocaust" being a bad thing before. He needed to be briefed about that to know.

F**kfest indeed

Trump asking a female black reporter to set up a meeting for him with the congressional black caucus must be Peak Trump.
Oh my, lol! This is like the classic 'All black people know each other' joke except he's completely serious.
Yeah, any black person can set up a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus. We all meet up every 2nd Wednesday of the month and barbeque.

Yay now the mentally disturbed can protect themselves and aid us in preventing mass shootings.
They can't actually buy guns with disability funds, though. That's still illegal.

The same since 1776.

The national security community basically wants nothing to do with this shitshow.

Mostly because, sad as it is, just "restricting guns" wouldn't work here -_- I'd be fine with no guns whatsoever. I hate them. My grandfather taught me how to use one and I'm a great shot, which is all the more reason to not have one near me.
Keep in mind the NRA thinks that weapons like AK's and RPG's are things that they actually think ordinary citizens should have…..along with silencers, restricting guns are just as important as regulation.

I guess I should say that I think no civilian needs an automatic rifle, or a semiautomatic rifle, or an RPG… So really, I guess I am for restricting guns, just hard to say so knowing there's some people who think that's absurd.
Kind of a silly reason to not say what I want though >.>
So saying, I still think teaching gun safety is the way to go. I'd like to believe that more people thinking about safety will naturally want people to re-evaluate the laws surrounding guns. Too idealistic, maybe :/
-
@Medical:
Do the nuclear codes change with each new President, or are they always the same?
We know they've changed, but not how often. It's probably super classified, so just ask someone staying at Mar-a-Lago.
-
@Cyan:
The national security community basically wants nothing to do with this shitshow.
At this point, he's limited to people who are really stupid, really corrupt, have zero other options to gain power, or are a combination of those characteristics. A position tailor made for David Petraeus.
-
@Daz:
In the press conference just now. The gist I got was "we need good relations with russia, to avoid a nuclear holocaust".

With all the leaks about his administration having Russian ties, he's going to need to try and find a way to make it look good to lift sanctions against Russia. An appeal that not doing so could lead to a nuclear holocaust is probably his best option actually.
-

I'd think it would be the opposite… Americans aren't overly fond of Russia. Screaming "WE NEED TO BE FRIENDS WITH THEM SO THEY DON'T KILL US" seems like a really easy way to convince the American People to go to war.
-
Hahaha, watch Trevor Noah cover Trump's press conference with Netanyahu.
I'm so flabbergasted right now at Trump's ignorance I just can't believe I'm pissed and laughing at the same time! XD

Fox host Shepard Smith slams president, Trump supporters call for his head
When even Fox News is saying Trump's antics are crazy you know things are going bad. Predictably, Trump's supporters on social media are all over him, calling him the next Megyn Kelley
"Pence heads to Europe on reassurance tour" - http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-europe-idUSKBN15W0BB
I can't help but feel that the very fact we even need a "Reassurance Tour" is what one could call a "red flag"

Reassurance Tour, or Apology Tour? Remember how conservatives slammed Obama for attempting to repair the damage Dubya did?
-
What is even a Reassurance Tour?
I have honestly never heard of such thing.

Its him going to other countries and in private with no cameras or phone tappings saying "look, we know it's a problem, we''ll have him gone in six months, a year tops, and I'll take over. Don't freak out too much, this is a short term problem only."

Trump’s transition has a 48 percent approval rate among Americans, equaling its 48 percent disapproval rating.
Thats from two months ago, before he took office.
It's at 39 percent approval now which is about as low as it was for Nixon in full blown Watergate scandal, Carter at his most unpopular, and GW Bush the last three years. (Obama's absolute lowest was 39, and Nixon and GW's lowest was 25.)
And that'll probably continue to drop as the incompetence and blatant lying continues, more protests go on, and the Russian thing fully explodes.

Guy who refuses to investigate Trump will continue to investigate Clinton emails.

I wish I had real faces and names for everyone who tweeted support for that so I could know exactly who would turn out to be complicit in crimes against humanity and avoid any interaction with them.
-
Because it sure was ridiculous to ever think that Trump might be serious about deporting all of those people in one fell swoop.
If this happens, well, RIP border state economies and agriculture. You had a good run.
