Professor Zephos, do a lecture on the Saturday Night Massacre.

A couple hours ago the acting Attorney General said the Muslim ban was unconstitutional. She's now been fired and replaced with a lackey.

Because ethics and morality are unecessary emotions and only weaken the bloodline.
Seriously, fuck this administration.

If I'm not mistaken, Yates was the only person capable of signing foreign surveillance warrants. Her replacement cannot legally do that.
Of course, Trump apparently has some sort of digital security executive order ready to go. It may well have some sort of half-assed workaround that was thrown in at the last minute.
-
Trump is going after the tech sector (as a revenge most likely) next by targeting H-1B visas.
This by the way will not make India happy (most recipients of these visas are its citizens), which remember is one of the biggest rivals to China. So smart thinking, Puppet-in-Chief.
My company is already bracing for the impact on possible changes to the H1B rules and regulations by shifting skilled workers to Europe and Australian projects. Funny part is, some of the jobs which were supposed to come to us are now moving to Mexico and Brazil because of the convenient timings between the US and them so it might not accomplish much I suppose

Like that one part will stop him.

The wording of this is almost childish at times; it's like Trump's sulking because people don't automatically love his ideas. Then again, I'm not overly familiar with statements of this nature - maybe a lot of them are like this.

Seven dangerous countries? More like seven countries without Trump properties.

Its worse than lack of spine, reading the comments they have its idiots trying to play nice normal manners politics in the age of Trump.

Trump fired the head of ICE a few moments ago.

Hopefully this firing sets them straight. Schumer already referred to it as the Monday Night Massacre.
-
A lot of shit shoulda set them straight, and yet…
-
It's almost like they actually believe in the system instead of just being cynical assholes who just exploit it to their own benefit.
BUT BOTH SIDES.
-
Alright who's playing Robert Bork in this dramatic reenactment.
-
Well golly, it wasn't nice when they stonewalled Obama's appointee for the better part of a year, so we certainly wouldn't want to do it to them!~

Ugh, sacking his AG. That's authoritarian. The BBC did make a good point that his hand was forced by the AG's refusal to enforce the order, so it's not Nixon levels bad… but ugh. It doesn't sit right with me at all.
It does bring up a huge failure in the system, though, and my 2cents would be:
The AG should be independent, not selected by the president, and you certainly shouldn't be able to fire them at will. It just completely undermines the separation of powers, and leads to this kind of madness the moment a nutjob gets elected. Same goes for the SC nomination being a political thing, as opposed to a legal/technically based nomination from an independent board. It's comforting that the president can't fire the SC, but really, this shouldn't even be an issue. Change the US constitution if necessary, it needs to change.
(Not that the british system is really any better...) -

I've already donated to the ACLU but will try and see how much money I can give still. I have to be mindful about how I spend my income (I'll need some money for my surgeries and whatnot), however, I think some things that I planned to buy can wait.
Suck it, Trump and whoever support these backwards ideologies.

Shit like this is why I donated to the Justice Democrats. I'm not the biggest fan of Cenk and TYT, but it's something I can get behind. Because the Dem's trying to compromise at this point is like going on a second hunting trip with Cheney when your first one didn't turn out well.

Thank you! But don't spend yourself into a rut, we don't want that. Even pennies donated adds up.

I'll manage~ I won't donate my food money, but I might that I would've spent on headphones/games etc.

Nobody needs fancy headphones, but don't forgo a game you really want.
But like you, I should donate my extra bucks. If not to the ACLU then to Planned Parenthood.

Sessions asking Yates an interesting question during her confirmation hearing. (About a minute in)

Just waiting for the day Trump is killed.

Oi, the Spaniards are complaining that rajoi hasn't complained about trump anyone is keeping tabs on the international community?

I wonder where all those "LGBTs for Trump" are right now (yes apparently they exist)
Probably still on his side, if Rin's anecdote was true (she had friends who supported him _and_ expected him to take away their rights). They probably subscribe to the "you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs" philosophy of governance.

“This is one of the most alarming things I’ve seen in my 40 years in the U.S. Senate,” Finance Committee Chair Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said in the hearing Tuesday. “There isn’t a fellow on the other side I do not care for. Normally they’re very honorable and decent people. That’s why it’s so shocking to me that they’re not here when we’ve given them every opportunity to be here. … That’s not only ridiculous, it’s offensive.”
You were there for the Bork vote, Orrin, this can't possibly shock you.

Part of me is glad this happens to people like them. Maybe it's a good wakeup call.

DeVos just got confirmed, 12-11 vote.
Not completely, it's advancing to the Senate….
Where republicans have a 52 to 48 Majority....
So yeah....

lol right. but the committee hearing part was our best chance.

This is what I've seen a lot of. Not necessarily from "Friends" but in a lot of LGBT community places and events that I've gone to, I've seen a bunch of this.
It's typically "I don't think Trump is going to do anything to hurt us, but even if he did, I value my second amendment rights over anything else. I'm happy I was able to marry my husband, but I can't use that marriage certificate to protect him if someone attacks us"
It's basically "Trump wants to take our Marriage Equality, but Hillary wants to take our guns, so I side with Trump".
(Even though Hillary never wanted to take away anybody's guns…)

This is the same administration that just spent the first few days trying to claim that Trump's Inauguration was the "Biggest Ever" despite it being nowhere near true.
I don't trust them to tell the truth about anything.
I'd VERY MUCH LIKE this to be the case, but I highly doubt it. If anything, I think they announced this because it's obvious they've pissed a whole lot of people off with the Muslim Ban and I think they want to try to let this outrage dissipate and cool off some before doing something else horrible.
This also could be rendered moot too when he announces his Supreme court Pick and it turns out to be a super Anti-Gay conservative whackjob.
-
The senate is debating the constitutionality of Trump's Muslim ban right now.
!
Edit: It's over now; basically Ted Cruz stood up in support of the firing because he viewed the former Attorney General's actions as motivated purely by partisan politics.
He also made the allegation that Obama censored hundreds of NSA documents in an attempt to hide the "fact" that we're essentially at war with Islam.

Sessions vote pushed to tomorrow after Democrats invoked a technicality.

Well, this is infuriating. Not only what Sally Yates fired, but Trump kicked her out with an insult and a letter written by either Trump or a toddler.
