Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the US from the TPP. If not for the Taiwan business, he'd be the best friend China ever had.

Why, specifically, was TPP a good thing?

Let us all thank the Great God of TRVE KVLT LEFTISM that the American working class has been saved by the FILTHY NEOLIBERAL agenda of Barack Obama.

Obama signed it, but I don't remember him being involved with it aside from that.
This isn't an Obamacare issue where Trump wants to destroy something just so he can take credit for "fixing" it; he really hates trade agreements.
-
Why, specifically, was TPP a good thing?
Increased diplomatic influence and access to markets in the region; new places to sell products would have meant creating more jobs in both the United States and Southeast Asia.
That won't happen now.
Well, it will create jobs in Southeast Asia and China but not the United States, which is likely to lose quite a few jobs since businesses were expecting this to go through a few months ago.
-
Oh for fucks sake, I thought we had already won this battle.
Trump wants to end Net Neutrality. Of course he does.

What kind of jobs would be created? Manufacturing and animation jobs are still easily farmed out to Asia, so how could we have guaranteed that the jobs would have actually employed Americans?

Where do I sign up to protest that shit? >_>

Trump doesn't even hate trade agreements. He's just scapegoated them as costing American wealth and jobs, and pulling out of TPP is an easy thing to do that doesn't require any legislative understanding.
-
I'm still very much on the fence about the TPP but Trump cancelling it outright rather than negotiating a "better deal" like he has bragged about doing with other trade deals confirms this was just a political move. It wasn't ratified by Congress yet. The deal wasn't even going to be fully implemented for years to come. He didn't really look into it. He didn't hear the arguments from both sides of why it's good or bad. He just knew a lot of people didn't like it so he promised to back out if it as soon as possible, so he did.

@Monkey:
Says the Italian lol.
Citizenofacountrywithnofreehealthcarewhenitalydoes says what?
Say what you want about italy and its crumbling economy, or the blatant sexism that italians parade. But hey, at least our abortion laws aren't completely moronic, and I'm quite sure I've NEVER met a global warming denier! We're a European country afterall, we have to maintain a certain standard!
But please, keep telling yourself America is leagues above us from your high horse. Last I checked, the script has flipped, you're the ones with a clown as the President and we're the ones working to try and improve Italy's standards of living with a centre-left government for the past 5 years.
The joke's on you, haha. You're an American in Trump's America. Have fun with that, we'll just keep laughing at you from the other side of the pond.
-
Isn't your most popular politician literally a joker though.
-
Meanwhile in Texas, the Trump victory has encouraged the Republican Party to redouble their efforts to strip away same-sex marriage rights.
They've also renewed calls to defund sanctuary cities, campuses, etc… including Travis County. Travis County = Austin and some surrounding areas.
-
Another Sean Spicer press conference where reporters let him get away with non-stop lying. Why even go there?
-
Isn't your most popular politician literally a joker though.
Who, Grillo? He's a Micheal Moore type comedian, yes. Made his fame by criticising Berlusconi over the years, then decided to use his charisma and fame to create a political party. But he was already in the political spotlight due to his powerful satire long ago. That said, he can't take office as President, his party isn't in power right now (although the mayor of Rome is part of it).
Salvini is the closest we have to Trump (Aside from berlusconi). But again, there's a very slim chance of him getting any real power on his Anti-EU platform.
The strongest coalistion would be the Democrats in Italy, which hold the reigns of government right now despite the referendum which got rid of the previous leader (Renzi).
Lastly, you have the right which is still under Berlusconi. But they have lost a lot of power over the years, they're highly unlikely to win anything important any time soon.
Notice how the Italian political landscape has more than two parties, holds a variety of different ways of improving the country, and isn't a stagnant mess of ideals that seemingly never change?
I wouldn't call the Italian system "good". Indeed its relativey unstable. But to dismiss any point I make because I'm an "Italian"? That's just rude. America really isn't any better, especially since the orange catastrophe collided into the whitehouse and destroyed everyone's liberal dreams.

So far pass these 3 days Donald Trump seems to be doing fine so far; he actually manage to do his job and kept most of his word. But I really don't want him to fail, I want too see him do his job and succeed at what most failed to do. Wanting him too fail is like wanting the country to collapse. If he does good and respect everyone's right then he earns my vote and respect but do bad then next president please. So i've been keeping track of him for three days and let's see the results in months too come.

Are we talking about Donald Trump being successful as a president, or are we talking about him being successful in his, the Republican party, and the Religious Right's agendas?
There is one way there that I most certainly don't want him to be successful in. To be honest, it's hard to separate them. If he succeeds in some of his propositions then he fails as a president.

Reactions after Spicer lying for 79 minutes, crying that everyone is mean to Trump for unfair reasons and reiterating multiple times that he had the biggest inaugeration crowd ever:
Jake Tapper (CNN): "Let's hope that this @__seanspicer__ stays with us."
Karen Tumulty (WaPo): @__PressSec__ doing a solid, professional job. #reboot"
Chris Cilizza (TheFix): "Sean handled a very difficult situation with aplomb today." -
For me personally i guess it's because i haven't been brought up to consider rudimentary forms of identification as a pawn in a right vs left chess game. To you informed Americans it's seemingly a whole vortex of these guys did this, and those guys did that, but to me it just reads as a suprising gap in (what i've been brought up to consider) basic neccesities.
This how it probably is for most Europeans.
-
Yeah, Trump so far has kept his promises, consequences be damned. He's withdrawl from TPA, and sounds like he's going to withdraw from NAFTA is things don't go right. He's changed abortion law the day after the largest Woman's march in history. I'm fearing he's going to deliver on his campaign promises until something forcefully stops him. What I wonder is, what will stop him? I can imagine, but I don't know what will rise to the occasion.
Meanwhile, someone is suing Trump for violating a constitutional ban. I don't know how well it'll go, since I'm sure Trump has more experience in court then these guys, but here's hoping.
-
Spicer's probably not going to last longer than three months if he's already falling apart at the seams on Day 3.
-
This how it probably is for most Europeans.
Probably Asia and the Middle-East too.
Dunno about Africa, but i wouldn't rule it out.
-
Meanwhile in Texas, the Trump victory has encouraged the Republican Party to redouble their efforts to strip away same-sex marriage rights.
As long as Republicans keep walking backwards on social issues like this they'll continue to reinforce the ignorant and close-minded GOP image. It's no wonder they're so afraid of the popular vote.

No, man, I don't think any of your points were dismissed because you were Italian, or that they were dismissed at all. You called America the laughing stock of the world right now, fair enough, and then your country was called out by reference of your nationality. "Italian" = Italy. I don't know why and I don't care. I just highly doubt no one's going to listen to you because you're Italian.

How has he kept most of his word? Wasn't there an article yesterday that showed he's broken 34 of 36 promises?

Things he promised to do on day one, at any rate.
He still might get to most of the horrors eventually.
-
He's changed abortion law the day after the largest Woman's march in history.
It'll be changed once a democrat gets elected like it has since Reagan enacted the stupid law in question.
Meanwhile, someone is suing Trump for violating a constitutional ban. I don't know how well it'll go, since I'm sure Trump has more experience in court then these guys, but here's hoping.
I wouldn't label call lying under oath, destroying evidence, and settling as having "more experience". Especially when Kellyanne "Alt-Facts" Conway is apart of his legal counsel.

Questions for you: what's the upside to dropping out of TPP? How will decreased access to Asian markets help businesses in the United States? How will the Chinese gaining more influence in Southeast Asia at the expense of the United States help our global standing? How is doing this while trying to provoke a trade war with China going to work? They'll have the option of shifting trade to other markets if the US slaps high tariffs on Chinese goods. What will we do?
What about businesses that have already spent money in preparation for being part of TPP? What's to keep them from laying off people who were hired with the expectation of increased sales or to simply recoup the losses from buying equipment that they won't need?
-

When Trump gets three terms like Bersculoni did I will certainly be worried.

, forgetting his party's narrative that people flocked to Trump because of Economic Anxiety as a result of mass unemployment.
(also the comments are great)
HUGE LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION by people who don't have the security offered by unions because I decapitated union power in my state because I'm a worthless sack of shit
-
Somebody ask loony left why Scott Walker keeps being reelected when the Rust Belt supposedly craves economic populism.
-
Spicer crying cause nobody liked his lies now his feelings are hurt.
-
So far we've got Baghdad Bob and LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE out of Spicer. What meme will he go for next?

Ya know, I'm not sure how credible this website is, but this is terrifying if true.
Trump Bans The Public From Calling The White House To Comment Or Protest

TPP was going to make this worse. If Donald Trump does pull out of NAFTA, the Democrats won't have to worry about private companies suing our government over banned hazardous chemicals. It's one of the few possible silver linings of a Trump presidency.
-
I don't want to sound classist. But why the fuck are you buying perishables at Target, Spicer?
-
I see a weakness. Never drop this. Or the inaugeration. Ask for his tax returns until he complies. This can't last…can it?
-

Eh, Republicans have been playing the illegal immigrant voter fraud conspiracy card for at least a decade. The tax returns on the other hand… that's a new thing.
-
What scares me is, how long will majority of the media be like this? Will we silently turn and just accept Trump for what he is and embrace everything he says, or will the media continue to point out his lies? How long until one side bends?
-
Good question.
Make me think of something both hilarious and . . . . pointed. I don't know if he's the one who thought of it or is just repeating, but he referred to Trump as "Minute Maid Mao".
-

Midterm election cycles are a bitch.

2 days in and Trump creates a holiday in his honor:
