It's a common misconception that all they do is listicles.
There's really no nice way to put this… I've seen no evidence that they're a serious news organization, but plenty of evidence that they're a biased organization who publish a lot of clickbait and well-intentioned propaganda.
A lot of people also believe that Breitbart is a serious news organization, and any "credibility" that they've gained by occasionally reporting on real events ignored by other media outlets is completely undermined by the biased conspiracy-driven commentary present within those same articles.

Actual news sites are running a story on the report having claims of Russian leverage, the piss stuff no, that's an exact claim of what the leverage entails. But the main news reports blatantly don't line up with the 4chan crap. Unless the random person is claiming he's been posing as a former British intelligence agent the CIA considers credible and has worked with before lol.

Believe it or not, BuzzFeed's News is actually serious and fairly well respected. They won an award in 2914 for coverage of Congress and a business journalism award in 2016.

Because they're different departments. It's the same reason CBS can put out both 60 Minutes and The Big Bang Theory or any of their other awful comedies. The CEO of BuzzFeed has an actual interest in maintaining a respectable journalism wing but also recognizes that that stuff doesn't make much money anymore, so he finances it with their clickbait and listicles and other garbage.

Well, what is certainly clear from all of this is that because Buzzfeed posted this story it'll from now on be singled out to undermine the organization's credibility especially when it comes to reporting news on Donald Trump. It's not like anyone serious will ever point out this unsubstantiated story as a shining example of how credible Buzzfeed is despite the merits Buzzeed has gained. Honestly, it reads as a joke but this is Donald Trump we're talking about so it's almost believable.
On a more serious note… Trump can go fuck himself as hard as possible on an elephant's tusk.
