You know what? Venezuela still is worse, but at least we took 15 years before attacking people in the streets. I log out of the north american shitfest, I wish you good luck, and if this is the first domino to wwiii i will haunt every goddamned idiot who can't tell the difference between a dirty politician and a narcisitic authoritarian confirmed sexist/racist asshole.
Wall will start construction in March 2017

I feel like people might be more inclined to care about acts of violence done in Trump's name if there also weren't so many that are blatantly lies. There's been a few within the last day or so that have been revealed to be false. It's the whole thing about crying wolf. At some point people are going to stop listening to you even if you're genuine because of false accusations. The riots (and the police have actually called them riots) don't help either.

There's a story at the end about something that supposedly did actually happen, so there is violence, but like I think Louis was saying before there is also violence against Trump voters. I don't know the distribution though so I can't really comment on whether it's "fairly distributed" or not.

Yeah no i don't think false claims are the big thing to worry about here.
Call for unity guyz! Trump LOVES the gays! Liberals are bad people for fearmongering!
The issue plaguing the democratic establishment isn't that it's rigged. They are just so disconnected from their potential voter base and truly believed that they wanted more of the same in yet another corporatist establishment candidate. That's why you see them propping up Tim Kaine for 2020 already instead of rallying behind actual progressives like Warren. They've learned nothing.
Holy shit you are a breath of fresh air after Meo's little diarrhea storm.
And I actually agree with every point in this post. Warren, absolutely. Or Bernie if we have Futurama's head-in-a-jar technology by that point.
Gosh, I must've forgotten those times during the '08 and '12 elections where Obama specifically campaigned and promised to wage drone wars in the Middle East and to deport all the Latinos.
Trump voters know who they went to bed with. And no, "he doesn't mean it like that, he will moderate" is not an excuse to vote for him, because these same people say he "tells it like it is!" and voted against Hillary and the establishment because they're liars with empty promises.
"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
There's a reason we didn't just try the entire German populace for war crimes after World War 2 ended.

She won the two lower income brackets handily; Trump edged her in the rest with his best performance being a +4 in the 50-90K range.
http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/president
The people Trump did best with tended to be older, better off, and less educated. Basically Baby Boomers and up, who faced an entirely different economic situation growing up than people today.
Ah thanks. I had been looking for income based data for a while, but could only find education based one.
I´m not very surprised that she didn´t won the middle class.
Sorry I may be sleep deprived. But where are there an overwhelming amount of minorities that voted for Trump? Also we are still minorities at the end of the day. We can really only do so much. That's what that chart was showing.
At any rate. Only half the country voting overall is extremely frustrating.
But the so much you did was enough to give the Obama the win. That´s where I´m coming from.
Considering that there were less people voting, Trump´s percentages actually show that he got less white people to vote for him than Romney, even if marginally. Obviously taking out the amount of 2012 indecisives, that was already a Republican tending crowd in the first place.
The minority numbers don´t have to be overwhelming for him to win, that´s why I showed the 2012 numbers. If anything, it was Hillary that gave Trump the win by not managing to keep the base that elected Obama.
Basically, if Obama could beat Romney that had a certain amount of "white numbers" then Hillary should have also been able to beat Trump with the same/less numbers. Blaming the demography is lazy.
That's a very bold claim.
Please elaborate.
One of the reporters on ABC during the Election mentioned something about Hillary's campaign being entirely negative against Trump. Somehow forgetting that's how campaigning works for one and for two Trump was doing the same exact shit and being far worse in doing so. So the theory (bullshit as it is) that Hillary was a more negative candidate than Trump isn't too farfetched as some actually believe it despite evidence to the contrary.
@CCC:
Warren, absolutely. Or Bernie if we have Futurama's head-in-a-jar technology by that point.
Warren I could see, Bernie on the otherhand is strictly nope territory.
If anything, it was Hillary that gave Trump the win by not managing to keep the base that elected Obama.
…..And yet this begs the question of how was she supposed to keep the voters who elected Obama....especially since some of them couldn't vote anyway and the rest were dead set against voting for her for whatever reason.
Also has anyone posted Lindsay Graham actually floating Ted Cruz's name for the SCOTUS?

Racially motivated or not. A lot of white people just let the Trumpening happen. Let's face it. A good chunk of Trumps followers aren't going to do anything to people who aren't the "right" type of white or don't "appear" gay.
I get being pissed at the DNC but voting Trump into power puts more people in danger. Although the protests we are getting now probably would have happened from the other side due to cries of the system being rigged for months. Nobody was going to be satisfied but one outcome makes a whole bigger mess.
Black people completely ditched Bernie, can I blame them for that? :P
Seriously though, it's just a really bad idea to bring up entire races of people and say "hey, you were statistically more likely to have voted for x because of the color of your skin." It also sounds like you're letting the Black/Hispanic/Asian people who voted for Trump completely off the hook, again based on their race.

Those Jill Stein votes are looking tragically ironic now..

Of course it's a bad idea to do that. But that's also kind of the point of trying to understand the exit polls and turn out.
I would have voted for Bernie in the end. Even though I think he fell into the same problems a lot the people running did. Which was not really addressing the racial problems. He was more set on swinging it back to economics. Yes that plays a part but it's not exactly the same. I actually don't know what he ending numbers where when you break it down.
I'm just so drained. I want to play video games all day where most of my choices and goals actually matter.

…Why don't you just do it? I mean since this shitshow turned out the way it did I've been drowning my misery in CrunchyRoll streaming. Haven't hardly played any games or even touched my Youtube notifications.

Cause I still have to be at work. I'm talking like 2 weeks at minimum of forgetting other people exist lol.

Self-care is really important, seriously.
If you can afford it, veg out, play games, and eat like garbage for a day or two. Absolutely no shame in that.
EDIT: Okay 2 weeks might be asking a bit much haha. But right when you get home from work!!
@White:
the backpedaling is real
In short: "We want to keep the stuff that everybody likes while removing the things that control costs."
Not calling anyone sheeple but it's about time every one woke up to the established main stream narrative, not only did they paint the wrong image of Clinton's campaign but it's fulled hate into the mouths of every 'entitled' voice that supposedly defend and fight against hate.
Hillary's foundation is 100 times more hateful than Trump and his campaign. You would never see it reported however.
Er… Trump really is a very hateful person, and his campaign did nothing but lie and justify his hate. I refuse to blame the voters, but his staff were out there saying specific things that we can easily blame them for.
Of course it's a bad idea to do that. But that's also kind of the point of trying to understand the exit polls and turn out.

Yeah, this election and the aftermath have brought about some of the most awful conversations/debates/arguments I've ever had in my life.
I work very closely with print and television media in the hopes of majoring in broadcast journalism one day, and it's always been eye-opening to understand that the world's people are swayed so much by corporations whose main goals are earning money. But, in the end, what fix would there be for that? Nobody would ever tune into a station that simply stated whatever facts they could find. Journalism has always worked by people choosing stories that they feel will pique the most interest from the audience, and looking for angles that will keep them invested into whatever discussion or background graphic they put on. Bias is pretty much inevitable in that sense.
There's a lot you can teach others about how to get around said bias, but the entire sheep mentality created may never be able to die.

A cynical candidate who had no real faith in her platform, that's who. shakes head
Hindsight is 20/20. John Oliver told Trump to run. Jon Stewart told Trump to run. This board told Trump to run in 2012 and then again in 2016. People were thinking he was unelectable outside of the GOP base and would lose in a landslide as recent as one week ago. One month ago people were thinking this was the end of the GOP.
This isn't just about Trump… if that's true, she's responsible for the misery we've all gone through over the last year and a half.
I thought Wikileaks were releasing fake emails. Or are we picking and choosing now?
I thought Wikileaks were releasing fake emails. Or are we picking and choosing now?
Always. (I did say "if that's true" though, and salon isn't exactly an unbiased source.)
I thought Wikileaks were releasing fake emails. Or are we picking and choosing now?
I mean, even if it was fake, you could tell that the campaigns were focusing more on Trump's weaknesses than Hillary's strengths.
You don't make slogans that directly mention your opponent.
Interesting.
Always. (I did say "if that's true" though, and salon isn't exactly an unbiased source.)
Funny neither is Wikileaks.
Look, let's get to the point of the so-called "Bernie would win" myth, because he wouldn't.
The people who would have supported Bernie were largely the people who supported Clinton, and among them were those who vilified and drove away moderates. Toss in Trump's extremely successful underdog tactic and Bernie almost certainly would have lost, yeah.
They won the vast plurality of votes, not something Bush and Trump are able to say.
So now a majority isn't important. A plurality is. Let's shift the goalposts when we want to. Gotcha.
Bitch, you'll see the tyranny of the minority these coming 4 years.
And I'll survive.
(but not actually rioting, because peacefully protesting in the streets is not rioting)
Very peaceful indeed. No rioting whatsoever.
there's already been many reported hatecrimes.
And Texas says it's seceding every week.
And California has never said that.
A state that has 500k inhabitants should not have equal representation in something with such huge influence as the Senate as a state with 40 million inhabitants.
Then you have no clue about how a federal republic works.
A peak at cooldud's Twitter
Fuck off with the ad hominem, okay?
And I'll survive.
You know, it's almost like you live in a state where you have at least some insulation from the GOP's terrible policies.
In other news… white Black Lives Matter protesters beat up a black guy who disagreed with them.
The whole world's gone nuts.
You know, it's almost like you live in a state where you have at least some insulation from the GOP's terrible policies.
Yes, because federal policies don't impact this state at all. Because immigration policies don't impact an immigrant at all. Because tax policies don't impact my paycheck at all. Because healthcare policies don't impact me or my family at all. Because foreign policy does not impact my home country at all. Peachy.

If i had to choose between living in usa and iran i chose iran not just because of trump i just think usa is a bad place to live

What's wrong with having the conscience to NOT leave people with pre-existing conditions like myself out to dry?
If he can get rid of the bad, like lowering my premium and making ot so that it isn't such a damn hassle to find doctors "in my network" while keeping the great things about Obamacare like not abandoning people like me how is this anything but a win?
The assumption here was that Trump would make something new so that he wouldn't have to share the credit with Obama.

I have always been interested in how the world continuously underestimates and fails to reform the media's hold over people. Is it just that politicians are thoroughly underplaying their role in causing damage because they dream of one day utilizing it for their own benefit I am not really sure. I am curious though. How often do the media house tread around the ethical boundaries to generate sensational news? I mean are there checks to see whether the journalists are severely misleading people or is it purely based on the merit of providing popular news no matter how divergent from facts it might be with only the journalists taking a call whether to step out of the boundary or not? For one, I am aware that Fox news has a free reign over their fact biases but do the other news channel genuinely have checks in place for it or they give the entire job to the journalists to do their homework? Are these fact biases consistently arm twisted by higher ups or when politicians or lobbyists creep around?
I don't see the problem here?
What's wrong with having the conscience to NOT leave people with pre-existing conditions like myself out to dry?
things about Obamacare like not abandoning people like me how is this anything but a win?
…..Between the fact that
A) This is Donald Trump the man without a conscience.
B) He was one of the many people who complained when the SCOTUS upheld the ACA act.
C) There's literally no indication that he'll actually do this and even if he did there's still the problem Ubiq mentioned of not keeping the parts of the plan that control the costs associated with the law.
Wtf America? Did stuff like this happen with Obama?
Well Obama wasn't a shady, tacky, misogynistic, Islamophobic, petty, disrespectful, fear-mongering, tone-deaf, habitually lying sleazeball of a populist that legitimately did and said things that pissed people off.
Some slightly good news. I guess. http://cnn.it/2fkK7DH

Just wanted to share this ray of light in a world of dark and nauseating news :') <3

angsty teenagers getting annoyed by the same ideals they choose to represent.
that guy is getting heckled by everyone, then gets manhandled and accused of doing stuff he ain't doing(by someone asking nicely because she's being nice),then gets beaten and has a a cigerettethrown at.

some really nasty anger issues there

It's not that it's not a win for those that would be effected by him removing it all…it's the fact that he's openly said multiple times he wants to repeal it all and replace it, not carry anything from it over. So it either comes down to him blatantly lying to his supporters about removing it all because he knew that realistically hundreds of thousands could lose their coverage, or Obama talked some sense into him Thursday and know he's backpedling.
This was a pretty good discussion that touches on a lot of topics that are talked about in this thread, I suggest watching the whole thing:

I highly doubt a 90 minute conversation with Obama, most of which probably was not spent on healthcare would be enough to sway his views about Obamacare. It's far more likely that he's always liked certain aspects of the policy. There's nothing to hate about the part of it that makes sure those of us with pre-existing conditions will still be guaranteed healthcare under whatever he replaces it with. He said he wanted to repeal it and replace it with something better. I genuinely hope he can deliver on at least that.
