That door was without a doubt the best thing to happen in the entire series.
That door was really odd. Is it part of the ship? Is it the ship? And what's up with those multiple doors inside of Sanji's room?
That damn Alice/Acid theme.

How so? He literally just looks like a clean faced Sanji with his eyebrow reversed right now and a hood covering whatever his hair is. He's expressionless thus far.
He's not totally expressionless… note the squinting of the eyes and the frown :ninja:... looks like he's mad.
joking aside.. there's a small hint of expression... but none of personality (damn I thought I said no jokings!)
Sora means sky by th way.
Chances of the seagull's name being Donald and the robot's name being Goofy?
Anybody think it is a possibility that Germa 66 was patrolling the area thinking that the SH would show up because they might be betraying Big Mom? Pekoms did say that it was odd they got there that fast and that it was Germa and not a Big Mom ship.
Could just be that they knew from Enies Lobby that the Sh would never just let one of their crew leave… So they made sure that Luffy didn't just bust in. Could also point to Big Mom accepting this as not only a marriage to ally with the Vinsmokes but also the SH. I also think that the reason why Sanji is the one to marry instead of the other vinsmokes is because of his cooking ability. Tamago said that Big Mom was impressed with him.
Also i think that that brother is Sanji's twin.
I didn't knew newspapers had comic strips. Or are those 3-panel strips like Garfield?

Yes those are comic strips. They don't have to be quick little gag comics like Garfield though.
I don't know what they're like in Japan though.
Anybody please explain the weird chapter title?
Anybody please explain the weird chapter title?
It's referring to the comic strip story of Sora that Vito talked about at the beginning of the chapter.

They might be 3-panels, but could be much longer in line with "golden age" daily strips or Sunday strips.
This seems to be in line with the older comics which often had more longer and involved adventures that you had to follow by getting every newspaper edition thereafter. Basically another hook to get people to pay for subscriptions.
I can't imagine there are that many strips in the OP world though, given that the WG seems to contol the few global papers out there.

As the chapter indicates, its' a shortening of "The World Economic Times' Comic Strip"

Yeah it seems like something from the 40's or 50's. My local paper still prints some of those types in the sunday version, stuff like Prince Valiant that you never read but always notice some sort of damn ongoing story is apparently always happening.
Obviously many people rooted for Gemma 66 in the Sora, Warrior of the Seas comics, because as someone said the villains would be appealing, because they are more colorful than the heroes. It actually kind of reminds me of how in Japan the villains in Yatterman are more remembered than the heroes to the point that a recent iteration had the focus being on the descendants of the villains.

Haha I like how upsetting that is to you; "How does that damn Valiant kid keep getting into so much trouble?!"

It's like a reverse of the usual situation. With us young folk like "Gosh darn ancient newspaper comics cluttering up my paper, you old timers need to git off my funny pages with your masses of ghostwritten corpse authors!!!"

That's a world wide phenomena in lots of media.
People are always enjoying particular villains and villain groups more than the good guys.

Look-y here I don't get what's up or down in this silly thing, roundtables and feudalism… And what's worse not a trans character in sight! It's a gosh darn disgrace!
Maybe I should actually comment on the chapter since I'm apparently crawling out of my several years long post hiatus.
This chapter was great (albeit short) and I'm really really psyched for an Alice in Wonderland themed arc. I know it's a long shot but I hope Oda goes all the way and includes some Lewis Carrol like logic games in this arc. Not as a fundamental part of it but maybe involving someone's character quirk for example.
Is that Chopper in heavy point mode next to Pekoms in that top panel on the last page? I guess he said get in disguise, but I really didn't recognize him from behind, but I don't know who else it could be because it doesn't look like anyone else on the ship
I'm thinking Oda is going for a spin on Alice in Wonderland with some of the ideas he has presented so far with Big Mom, or, more specifically some kind of riff on old Disney cartoons. I say Alice initially because of the marching soldiers with the heart spears and the door with a face like in Alice, but with that said it could be more of a direct reference to all Disney because if you look closely that teapot in-front of Sanji has a face drawn on it which makes me think of Beauty and the Beast. This is all to say laid on top of the candy motif he has shown attached to her crew in the past, which on an aside makes the Firetank Pirates presence seem incredibly out of place (but in a good way).
I wonder if somebody in her crew, or Big Mom herself, has an ability that brings inanimate objects to life? I can only guess this has been discussed before since her ship was introduced years ago, but the added elements like the ones I mentioned above, really help sell that concept. This arc really has my mind racing.
lola and her twin resemble tweedldum and tweedldee, right? At least their round funny head

Who would Wadatsumi represent?

An awesome good guy can make a movie good but and awesome bad guy makes a great movie.
ex: The Dark Night, Avengers, X-Men

Yeah, his clothes match, and he also has this weird fur on his neck.
On another note, the strawhats will probably get escorted to the wedding by Germa. They ARE guests on the groom's side, with them already being invited back on Zou.
Anyone notice the birds on the first panel are the same that kanjuro drew in dressrosa

I feel like the SH are gonna be welcomed because of this. Not to mention Big Mom liking Sanji so much. Wether or not that stays that way is beyond me but I think the fact that Germa didn't just immediately fire on them is something, it also seemed like they were expecting something.
Does anybody wonder how Pekoms was gonna convince Big Mom that he was just on the SH ship after stealing it or something? We don't know too much about Pekoms but I don't think it would be believable to have him say that he stole the ship or even defeated the SH by himself…

I think showing them an incapacitated Luffy would do the trick.

lol I hadn't thought of that
Pedro seems to be the Cheshire Cat this arc. Would Bobbins be the Knave of Hearts? hmmm

Worthless chapter. Nithing interesting, except Sanji's brother.
9 pages of this thread says otherwise.
Who is the Hare?
I wanna say that the white rabbit on the boat may or may not represent the white rabbit

Yes i made that suggestion too. It is also not very clear why Big Mum choose Sanji as a groom when it should have been more easier with one of his brother.
I wonder if there's going to be a jabberwocky in Whole Cake Island?

Hah, you should be able to make that tie-in if that's your username.
Oh, you mean Cousin Bruce. He's on Gaimon's island.

true the disappearing thing he has got going could be part of it….
Can anyone make out the name of Sanji's porno magazine? It's Play-something in reference to Play Boy but whats the other word? it actually looks like a 3 letter word like boy. Hopefully the official version will let us know for sure.

I don't see how this is relevant… lol
Sanji's porno was the best of the chapter… and almost forgot the 'desperate times... desperate measures' What a captain xd

I see either "Playlog" or "Play105" myself
can't really be sure though
hopefully, the SBS will clear this up eventually
Hope Sanji doesn't look at those magazines instead of cookbooks too often. Might get some unwanted "special sauce"…
Thanks, Galaxy and Mr. Luffy

Hopefully the anime will expand on this… Lol Jk

Maybe they're already married :wassat:
Or maybe they decided to use the marriage to pull Sanji back to the family business
Or maybe, they decided to use Sanji because he's already a pirate. No need to downgrade the other brothers to mediators, when they are probably already important figures in the organization's leadership.
EDIT: Reading your post again, you said BM chose the groom. Wouldn't the Vinsmokes choose who to marry on their side?

She gets both the Genma and strawhats that way.

At this point Big Mom's inspiration (at least in personality maybe) is honing in on the Queen of Hearts, and yikes if so.
