I always thought that Luffy would someday be invited to the Shichibukai. That would be possible considering all the threats to the world they heleped against (Cesar, Crocodile, Doflamingo and now the Yonkou). It would be a good excuse to attend Reverie.
Although this could be the Reverie that ends the Shichibukai system! (poor Buggy, he just joined)
Problem is, I don't think the world nobles would ever allow that (considering Luffy punched one of them). And also, some incidents like the destruction of Enies Lobby would go against such decision.
Also, I don't think Luffy would ever accept. Only if they had a long-term plan that involved attending the Reverie, like helping Fishmen Island or something. But it's not in Luffy's personality.
Chapter 823: Stirring World

he was left alone in rusukaina island for 6 months..if anything he should be at least able to cook some meat without burning it :P
Hopefully haha
I bet he will cook meat spiced with some more meat, and after that as the dessert: meat -
_Law of One Piece #10
If a character is introduced and shown to have a good chemistry with the Strawhats, people will inevitably speculate they're the next crewmate._
A really fun chapter! Good to see so many characters showing their face again. This arc is shaping up to be great stuff, best since the timeskip easily. It was only natural more major key players would play a part after a warlord was defeated.
I also like the idea of splitting up the crew and looking forward to see how Oda will handle that; will we have a medium length arc for all groups (most likely), jump from group to group every few chapter (not likely) or just follow Luffy and have everyone else's adventures told through flashbacks (likely, but hoping it's not the case).
-
I don't know if it was already said here somewhere, but in this chapter Wapol calls Dalton an idiot. He's saying 'kaba' and not 'baka', right? if he is, then I'd say i's something worth preserving in translation, since it goes all the way back to the Drum arc.

Not true. A character doesn't need to have a good chemistry with the SH to be seen as a possible crewmate (see Caesar). Being introduced is all it takes.
-
Awful chapter nothing of value and significance was seen today just plain off paneling 2/10.
…................... lol
-
I doubt Dragon and the revolution's top members have been downed; he and the revos have been hyped since chapter 99 for god sake. My suspicion is Dragon and his men ran off to avoid jeoparding the strength of revolutionaries. He probably thought that even if they won (which I think they wouldn't have), they would have suffered far too much damage in man power to actually fight the WG.
-
Best chapter yet, most world development we've seen since…. ever? Oda's going all out, everything else between the time-skip and now only seems pale in comparison... it's all coming together, THIS IS IT!!!
Carrot is going to be a joy to see animated!

But it's not in Luffy's personality.Nah, he's too notorious & a huge threat to be even given the Shichi title. This guy wrecked 3 buildings of the WG and they want to give him immunity & let roam around without the marines interfering? lol fat chance.
-
@Bartholemew:
Wanze and Duval heavily disagree.
….I refuse to accept this perfectly valid argument. Let's just say the ugliness in his heart makes him a lost cause.

On the other hand, making a pirate who antagonized you so much kneel before you and become a subordinate would make wonders to your public image. But I assume the WG prefers to play safe after the BB fiasco. And Law. And Jinbe. And Crocodile…

There isn’t much more world development than with the traditional inter-arc chapters.
-
I enjoy the One Piece world news chapters, and this one is no different.
Yeah, it looks to me as if Vivi is downplaying his dad's illness and that might be Oda setting up for his death and the Reverie as his last effort.
I could see that happening too, asking the World Government questions about Poneglyphs isn't going to do his health any favors either.
The around-the-world first half of this chapter was just so, so good. To piggyback on someone else's comment, it's not just the designs, it's the personalities being meticulously remembered that's so impressive.
Seriously, the man must have an eidetic memory.
-
Yeah I know I'm overreacting a bit but I'd hate to see a character thats still not really been unveiled completely go to waste. One would think that wou;dn't happen but its possible if he wants to do it that way. Honestly I think he's alive too but displaced. Or at least I hope.
Dragon is no more dead than Jack is. :ninja:
-
My guess is that the Revolutionaries are moving to have an attack on Mariejois during the Reverie and they abandoned their island. Blackbeard went and by the time he got there it was empty, so he ransacked it leaving it in ruins.
-
Seriously, the man must have an eidetic memory.
He probably had to reread the Alabasta arc lol. What do you he's doing with all his breaks, resting???
-
Great chapter and I'm really glad that we end up getting more Carrot.
-
Hate to be that guy but…
Carrot for nakama please!!!! She's so adorable!!!
-
I said it first in the spoilers and I'll say it again here. Just because Baltaigo was destroyed doesn't mean Dragon was defeated or even if Blackbeard was the one to do the destroying. Its an age old military tactic to destroy a base as one abandons it so the enemy can't 1- get ahold of anything left behind and 2- use the base as their own. Its a old tactic in fiction for secret bases to have a self-destruct mechanism.
Yes its quite possible that BB used the gura gura no mi to destroy it, but its also possible that Dragon had some plan and destroyed it himself. Its also possible that Dragon did some damage then BB did more on finding it abandoned.
Lets remember that Oda has used self-destruct ability in secret lairs before. Remember Vegapunk's lab that Franky accidentally destroyed?

Either way the revolutionaries ran into a set back. I hope they can keep the gains they made from the seizure of the doflamingo weapons. Well BB probably wont just give it to random kings so at least those freed countries should still be in pretty decent shape. i wonder if pedro will mention this to luffy?
-
Blackbeard spoiling reverie with dragons head?? Or to much like Naruto?
-
Pekoms is a pretty chill dude as it turns out, his interaction with Carrot this chapter is pure gold.
-
The stelly and carrot reveals absolutely killed me

How is that a set back exactly?
-
Holy shit. This chapter. Where the hell do you even start with this? AAAAAAAA
I don't have time to write up on it and I'm busted. D:
I want to, tho. GEEZ.
I guess I can try.
-
So awesome to see all the kingdoms again (and the many kingdoms in general) and especially Vivi having fun.
-
King Stelly. What even.
-
I absolutely adore Carrot. She's bursting with energy and fun.
-
Baltigo's already down. Well, damn.

Is Logue Town in Goa Kingdom or is that just where the new king of Goa is currently?
-
Is Logue Town in Goa Kingdom or is that just where the new king of Goa is currently?
He has to travel to Loguetown to enter the Grand Line
-
I wonder what the direct translation of the Baltigo line is because it hints at a different outcome. Like when the translation was that it was completely annihilated, it seemed to tilt towards the fact that RA suffered a loss (Probably not a battle loss, but they had to flee and lost some men or were forced to flee). But with mangastream translation, it could be hinting that the fight is currently going on by "it's already in ruins" or it could be talking about how it was hidden for 1000 years and is already destroyed aka nothing about RA vs BB.
I know I'm trying to read too much into it, but I reaaallly wanted to see Dragon in action, so the possibility of him being pushed back makes me wanna know what happened lol
-
How is that a set back exactly?
I mean. Their secret base, center of everything, their holy ground which had been in hiding for years is now completely destroyed. Will they take the opportunity to go out of it and get stuff done? Maybe. But it's still a set back dude lol.
Think of all of Dragon's capes there. No more Revo uniforms. No more feathered hats. I'd fucking panic tbh
-

But Caesar is not a possible crewmate.

Great chapter.
If the trip is taking several days, that could mean that Sanji hasn't arrived yet. If so, I hope the focus switch to his point of view next chapter and we see his arrival and meeting with his family in "real time" instead of via a flashback later.
-
Don Chinjao's fleet arrived to West Blue from Dress Rosa within 10 days ? That's ridiculous )
Not really. If Don Chinjao's fleet is coated with seastone and their fleet has an alternate powersource, then they could cross the calmbelt to the west blue from the new world. They probably have an eternal pose that goes straight to their island as well. Although I'm not 100% sure if an Eternal Pose would work if the island is outside the grandline.
-
So how are the odds of Oda showing us next chapter the details that happened on Baltigo?
-

Is not a set back since what the Revos hold the most is 'Knowledge', this base worked so well because it was secret and they could conduct their missions without worrying about being ambush but Dragon worked on that base for this specific moment, this is the moment of truth, the moment where he can finally unleash the knowledge that he has amount throughout the 20+ years of hard work.
A base is just a establishment that can be relocated anywhere and my best bet is that Dragon will now move on the seas alone.
-
Not only that, but Ivan, The Terrible as well, apparently.
-
Fu Manchu's on the next page.
-
How is that a set back exactly?
Any time a organized force looses a long time headquarters its usually portrayed as a setback. But that's assuming they lost it and didn't abandon it. Its a possibility I'll admit, that Dragon had known previously the HQ was being compromised somehow (spies for marines?) before Jesus discovered it. However I'm more inclined it was sudden thing due to BB and crew heading their way and they were rushed to leave due to the evidence (or lack of) that has been shown.
-
So… why would Chinjao go to the Reverie exactly?
-
I doubt the poses work outside the Grand Line due to the fact the way they work is due to unique magneitic fields. Outside in the 4 Blues, its a normal magnetic field that a compass can work with. That was shown/implied back in the East Blue arc. And when the SHs first entered the Grand Line, Nami was surprised at the compass not working, implying that they do work in regular Blues.
So all Chin Jao needs to do is have a seastone coating and haki possibly to beat sea kings, then paddles (or an animal to pull the ship) to surpass the no winds or currents on the Calm Belts. Once pass the Calm Belt, the navigator can use a compass .
-
So… why would Chinjao go to the Reverie exactly?
As an escort of the Wano Royalty maybe ?
-
@Rolor:
As an escort of the Wano Royalty maybe ?
Thing is, that official said there are much he wants them to say in the Reverie. Why them and not the king of Kanokuni?
-
The guy complete opposite of "Hitler" (far left) looks like Ivan the Terrible. Or maybe Rasputin if we could see more of his head.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Fu Manchu's on the next page.
If you look at the tattoo on that guy's head, it has a very striking resemblance to Momo's DF form. Now I know that is a rather common "eastern dragon" design, but the shape of the horns and the body offer a very striking resemblance. Perhaps a clue of things to come?
-
@.access:
Yeah, if anything, the news show both the RA and BB are fine.
If either Dragon (the most wanted man in the world) or BB (a Yonkou) were taken down, you can be sure the headline would be about that and not about Baltigo being found.
If revolutionaries aren't players anymore then we woudld've wasted the build up for them.
-
There's Hitler, Ivan and the gang…. and then there's this dude.
-
what about luffy and vivi romance foreshadowing? I mean, she's winking
-
Sometimes I get used to shitty writing/plot lol. I guess I'd be insulting Oda if I thought he'd do something like that.
Speaking of things not going to waste, even Stelly (waste) wasn't wasted from Sabo's upbringing. Also Dragon is Luffy's dad and the most wanted man alive if he was defeated or even killed the whole world would be made aware of this, not "secret lair destroyed". I wish people used some common sense sometimes.
what about luffy and vivi romance foreshadowing? I mean, she's winking
Lol technically they're not sailing together so why not :p but it's more likely to be Hancock or Nami…
-
Thing is, that official said there are much he wants them to say in the Reverie. Why them and not the king of Kanokuni?
Most likely bring they as key witness of what happened in Dressrosa about the Shichibukai System. And speaking of which, why the hell a country that is part of the WG have a pirate with a 500,000,000 Beli Bounty leading his navy like a Warlord?
-
King fucking Stelly. that is all.
