joking I know you're referring to his behavior at the previous Drum Kingdom (now Sakura Kingdom) on Drum Island. But hey how often do I get to post that pic in a recent chapter thread?!

I know, but the KD he actually rules right now can't be the former Drum (now Sakura KD). It is another KD, but that shows how Wapol (if you followed his cover Story which I assume) went from broken Status to king again. Who else could say he was a king of two different countries during one lifetime? I guess he impressed the WG with his Special metal alloy and got promoted to king again.

How does Oda expect us to sit through an entire Zou arc after building up all that hype for BM's arc? Such a cruel man.

I think Sanji is referring to the woman that raised him in the letter, not pudding but I could be mistaken. It takes me back to how understanding Sanji was of Chopper and Dr. Kureha's relationship back on Drum….Could be nothing.

Vinsmoke seem to be a crime Family like most people thought, the whole Mafia theme going on with Bege and his crew seems to fit. But again , how do we expect this to effect Jinbe joining the crew? Will he even still be around by the time Sanji makes it to the Tea Party? If so, at least Sanji has someone watching his back even if he doesn't know it.

Damn, Jinbe doesn't know this "third son" marrying one of BM's daughters will be Sanji, I can only imagine the chaos those two will have to go through to get back to Luffy and crew. Along with Wadatsumi and Ceaser.

Guess this is why Oda had Sanji fight alongside Jinbe back on FI, their immediate fates would be intertwined more than any of us really knew.

Zou-arc became really boring now, I mean what should Luffy and the others do? Sit on their asses and wait for Jack to come back? They should pick up Bepo and co (I guess thats the only reason why Law wanted to go to Zou in the first place) and head for the tea Party. Nami's VC from Lola should get them there ;)

Nope. Luffy got solo chapters because he's the top character, rest of crew are below him in importance in the story.

It's something I said way back when the swirlyhats first went off. That we can see an arc with just Luffy but we won't get arcs of other character by themselves, nor would get an arc of just the swirlyhats with no Luffy and others that were in Dressrosa. IMO, Oda isn't gonna have an arc without Luffy being prominent in it.

That was a short chapter this week and it left Us some unanswered questions or at least me with some unanswered questions I didn't wait up till the spoilers were release . Like how important is Sanji's lastname. Oh, thank goodness for Law currently there and Brook seem to know about how important Sanji's lastname is.
I'm sure, We'll hear about the history of Sanji's family next week.

Some quick observations

a) Lola being Big Mom's daughter is beginning to look really implausible, since she's always asking people to marry her (and Big Mom is pretty good at making her daughters marry apparently)… well, unless there is some backstory

b) Following the whole mafia theme, there is a chance Vito told Sanji something along the lines of "You don't want the Baratie Restaurant to sink, do you?". His comment "how did you find out" would make sense since he thought he made North Blue people lose his tracks... and, to say something even more farfetched, the answer could be Krieg (and maybe Gin!) working with Big Mom.

Sanji responded to whatever Vito said by looking dismayed and asking how he found out about that, which doesn't seem to fit Vito telling him that his fiancee's hot (although that would be hilarious).

On a different note, I'm at various tear-jerker spots in One Piece all around:
Manga: Sanji just got taken away
Subbed Anime: Just finished Sabaody (Straw Hats just got split up)
Dubbed Anime: Just starting Water 7 (where Usopp and Robin will leave)

Yeah, something like that is the most logical scenario. It really sounded like they were blackmailing him to go by threatening people related to him.

But i'm not sure it was the Baratie..maybe it's another person that we didn't meet yet and he was trying to keep distant.

While it could be nothing, we might be able to see our first glimpse of Big Mom's cookie people. Of course this is assuming Oda wouldn't have her eat a flesh and blood crew member. I believe she has her own army of strangeness(zombies, toys, etc) and that little stick figure like kid on the invitation is one of them. An army of ginger bread men.

They could come in all kinds of shapes and sizes as well. The one in the invitation looks to be as big as a tea cup. Smaller than the little people of Green Bit even. Of course that could be Big Mom's personal tea cup and we know she's gargantuan.

Anyone who expected a real plot in Zou should be convinced now that this island will wrap up fast and we leave for cake island.

My bet is that Brook will start to fill us in with the Vinsmoke name( reason why he said he could never return. Vinsmoke must be some very bad infamous family), then Pekoms will complete the story to us about the wedding and Vinsmoke. Destination Big mom after that!

Sorry 'jack for villain in Zou' fans. I said it's too early to take down a 1 billion bounty pirate.

Not sure how Oda will handle samurais, Raizou and minks story. Either he solves it in just a few chapters, and heart pirates take them to Wano, or they stay there and we will meet again at Wano?

And ''the child stabbed with knifes'' was likely invisible Raizou ridding Barriete.

I like where the story is going and Sanji in the spotlight…but these last two could have been condensed into one info wise. I hope we get too see purin soon

I didn't like how capone just turned into a tank...kinda takes away the uniqueness and genius of Franky. Atleast just hop on a horse that you have stored or something...you don't need to be a brilliant shipwreck/inventor if you can just do it with a df

This chapter was absolutely fantastic ! I loved it.
Various elements indicate that Sanji's family is important, and that something very special happened in his past, a past that he was trying to run away from until now (I honestly never expected to face this part of my past again). His family doesn't give a damn about him ; first time they have the occasion to see him again, they go ahead and organize an arranged wedding for him.
These people are straight up bad guys, I'm sure about that.

We come back to the "I'm from North Blue ! Didn't I tell you ?" and we have the confirmation that Sanji's attitude was indeed suspicious (Nami mentions that "it smelled fishy"). Huge foreshadowing there.
It's funny to see how Oda's art evolved from back to Jaya and now (as seen in this mini-flashback)

"No… It can't be..." Confirms that Sanji's family is above the average world noble.

Another revelation here ; to travel from East Blue to North Blue (by extension ; from a sea to another), one must cross Red Line. I wonder how the hell Sanji did that, at a such young age. It'll probably be explained later on. Did he do it by himself to escape his family ? Or was he with someone ?
Maybe he found that restaurant-boat at that time, and it was what made him sail on East Blue ?

His determination was remarkable. Unfortunately enough, Capone is clearly unbeatable in his castle, so there wasn't much he could have done.

Now what really intrigues me is what Vito whispered to Sanji's ear. Big Mom seems to have a certain power that would make one do whatever she wants… Or she could have such a sadistic reputation that disobeying to her would lead to consequences worse than death... That part gave me the chills. Note Sanji's reaction. He's more of a "disgusted", like "What the actual hell is that !??" than scared to death (+ "How the hell did you come to find that out ??" >> she could eat people that don't do what she says).

I love how Sanji acts like an elder brother figure. He tells his friends that everything's gonna be okay and to not worry about him... Truly heart-warming.
And saves them all, of course.

His Observation haki was shown again here. "I sense a powerful presence outside". This is interesting too ; we have the explicit confirmation that with this ability, you can dedude somebodies strength.

I'm repeating myself but this chapter was absolutely great, I just can't wait to know more about all this... and Sanji is awesome ; undeniable fact.

We see what looks to be Capone and another leading father figure hung up in the pictures in the back. Either that are 2 past leaders. Would be interesting the castle fruit gets passed down upon death of the mobs leader.

That's what I am hopping for, otherwise this fruit will quickly become a stronger version of the Buki Buki no Mi and I am not a fan of this whole new "better version of ____ Fruit" concept that makes some fruits become weak copies of others.

While that is very possible, it's not necessarily true. Sanji says the person behind the "only alive" and the marriage is the same, so there's a chance they had no idea where he was all this time, and couldn't get confirmation from the Duval poster (where his head was still out there to be killed). What if Sanji simply abandoned them because of plans they had for him, and they're using the marriage and the Yonkou alliance to lure him back? In any case, we don't know the Vinsmokes' intentions yet.

This chapter was GOLD. With just enough thrown information, Oda managed to shed some of the mystery while pouring some more.

We can be assured that:

the Vinsmock's head of clan (or whoever is linked to them and is backing Sanji up)
a) isn't a Gorosei member since there's no way an Elder star would marry his son or relative to a Yonkou's daughter and also because if it was a Gorosei member, pretty sure he would send an Amiral to catch Sanji instead of letting a Yonkou take care of that
b) isn't a pirate because again there's no way a pirate hold enough power and influence over the WG to make them fear reprisals. Look at Whitebeard who was the most powerful man in the ocean but still couldn't make the Marines + WG backtrack and not go through the execution of Ace. So how in the world another pirate or a mob could do that ?
The Vinsmock family is influential at every level, from the WG to the Yonkous which means it can't be a Celestial Dragon family since it makes no sense for them to marry their relative off 'inferior humans' and even less pirate ones. But it means it has to be filled with fearful people.

My theory is that the Vinsmock family is just like the Monkey familly: filled with people estimated in every category of the world or that it has to be a family of well-known powerful criminals (maybe pirates) BUT who know stuffs about the Void century (maybe they were traitors who gave information to the WG back in the Void century and thus hold a similar status to the Celestial Dragons without living in Marijoa). Besides, Sanji's from North Blue and not Marijoa so I doubt he was a Royal since all of them hardly leave their castle.

I liked this chapter. Sanji is definitely nobility. The evidence was given this chapter when (to mention just one) Capone said that for a son of the Vinsmoke family Sanji wasn't groomed properly. If I have the time, I may post more about this.

Only two chapters so far this year, and it's been a really strong start.

Sanji has had a strong showing for the few chapters shown, and this chapter was great with him taking advantage of a small gap he had. Kicking out his comrades, then when the gang is freaking out Sanji puts a gun to Ceasar's head. Then saying he knows they won't do anything because of the person protecting him was the cherry on the cake. There was him talking about Luffy becoming Pirate King which was also really awesome. We didn't really get much information, but we got some more intrigue which hopefully will get answered very quickly. Nekomushi impresses with every scene he is in, and that get away was pretty funny as well.

Overall another solid chapter, but I'm at a loss for what to expect for the rest of the Zou arc.

Sure, but considering the minks are too fond on SHs(heroes, saviours), even heart pirates( freinds with Beppo), they are still recovering from their war wounds, it's unlikely they start a fight with them for the samurais .

Likely the samurais will show up, say why they are at Zou in a few chapters, raizou shows up, kings say why they hate eachother. I don't expect more then…7-10 chapters for the zou plot then we move to Sanji? If this is the year of Sanji, we would leave the year without even going to Sanji if this is a normal island with villain like Jack and stuff.

And it's unlikely for the year of Sanji to be without Luffy, since the story focuses on Luffy, not Sanji. We need to get to Sanji for the story to focus on him.

The mafia theory is possible but they need to have strong ties with the history and the WG for centuries otherwise I don't see a family managing to "bully" the WG when even Whitebeard and the threat of a war couldn't make them backtrack (especially when back in the Summit War, Akainu was ready to take down the Red-haired pirates and it was Sengoku who actually put an end to this). With Akainu at the top of the Marines, I doubt any dialogue with a pirate or mafia family would be possible unless theyare precious to the WG and all the members have to be kept alive at all costs.

I believe Zou will wrap up soon but the Minks will show up later (as they live in a moving island) and we'll learn more about the Void century through the elephant. But I don't think Oda will lengthen it now since 1) he said it'll be Sanji's year (and knowing his pacing + breaks, I doubt he'll properly develop Zou's arc without eventually having to postpone the whole revelation behind Sanji's family and past) 2) the main villain is gone and is probably not in shape to wreck havoc once more + there's nothing else to do on this island except meeting a bunch of people and finding Raizo and 3) Pekoms maybe he's still here and might lead the SHs to the Wholecake Island.

I wouldn't rule out the Gorosei being involved too early because if this wedding makes Big Mom shut up or at least a little bit more tame it'll surely help to maintain the status quo just a little bit longer.
