R.I.P. David Bowie
-
I'm really bummed about this.
And he just recently released an album.
-
Damn… I didn't saw this coming... RIP Bowie..
-
Aw, hell. 2016 isn't wasting any time.
-
This whole thing is crazy. I don't know if Bowie planned dying right after his album came out but I could see him doing something like that just to make people talk. Even crazier that he managed to record such a great album right before he died. It's honestly a perfect way for him to go out.
RIP
-
Holy shit. Feels like this happened out of nowhere. He just released an album literally 2 days ago, which was also his 69th birthday…
R.I.P.
-
Major Tom belongs to the cosmos now
-
I just . . . . . I can't even . . . . I didn't know David Bowie had cancer. Fucking hell.
Only one thing can be said for this:
-
This is the saddest news ;___; RIP to a bizarre, one-of-a-kind man. David Bowie, you will be missed. My heart is breaking right now…
-
You read about a new album, how its praised by everyone and whatnot, and then something like this happens… RIP Dave.
-
David Bowie also sung for the the very awful Roger Rabbit wannabe, Cool World.
-
Wow… R.I.P David Bowie.
-
Time sure sucks, David was almost 70 and people always have to die.
-
That hits really hard.
-
Just…wow. Damn. I just listened to his new album today. I had no idea he even had cancer.
A great talent has been lost to the world. R.I.P. David.
-
It's easy to forget how old he was, and I had no idea he had cancer.
David Bowie, you will not be forgotten.
-
Imagine the concert God is getting tonight….
-
-
OMG, that is very unfortunate. :(
RIP David Bowie, you were an awesome man.
-
Wow… He was one of those guys that it was hard to believe he was "so" old.
He had a lot of energy.R.I.P Ziggy.
-
I thought 2015 was bad in terms of how many famous people died, but 2016 is not off to a good start.
R.I.P Dave.
-
This post is deleted!
-
A sad day for all of music.
-
Oh wow…. he JUST released an album, so I had no idea he was sick....
This is so incredibly sad.... On the way to work, I listened to Under Pressure, Space Oddity, Dancing in the Street, and then started Ziggy Stardust but only got throgh Moonage Daydream before getting to work.... definitely listening to the rest when I get home...
-
R.I.P David Bowie truly a Legend. I'll be rocking out to your album all day today in your honor. Life is so short makes you wonder what's the point sometimes.
-
I only have this to say. Probably already been posted but… I feel like it's more relevant then ever now.
-
I think my mother was telling me about this earlier.
Did not sink exactly who it was until now :(
-
I thought 2015 was bad in terms of how many famous people died, but 2016 is not off to a good start.
R.I.P Dave.
2014 was way worse I thought honestly, given that we lost both Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Williams in the same year. 2013 we also lost Roger Ebert, James Gandolfini, Peter O'Toole AND Nelson Mandela. But yeah… 2016 is not going well so far.
And now I just feel like playing this video from Good Will Hunting to commemorate Robin Williams. And if this video doesn't break your heart at least a little bit when you think of Robin then... check your heart and see if it's still beating. Sniffle.
EDIT: Aw crap! In 2013 we also lost Paul Walker didn't we? Ah man that was a really bad year wasn't it? That's going to be the one to beat I think for a while isn't it?
I play this now. If this doesn't make you tear up a little bit (especially the beginning and the end) then again… Try not to be a heartless monster...

I think my mother was telling me about this earlier.
Did not sink exactly who it was until now :(
I thought it was some kind of sick joke when I first read it honestly. Rest in peace Mr. Bowie.
-
And I thought Lemmy was a surprise loss. This is just the worst, hard to even believe (also Iggy Pop outlived him? what??).
RIP space man, I'll keep carrying the torch for 1976-80 being your golden age.
!
!
!
!
!
!One of the main guys who made what I consider the golden age of rock (77-87 or so) possible.
-
-
Fuck everything.
-
Aw man I listen to his songs frequently. 2016 is off to a bad start.
RIP Bowie
-
;_____;
-
….I was not expecting this, R.I.P. David, Ziggy, Chameleon or any other name you had.
Truly, a bizarre/genius music and fashion icon, the world will miss you.
-
Very sad :( he will be missed
-
What else can I say, we lost a legend.
His last video is chilling to watch now…clearly it was his goodbye.
-
David Bowie also sung for the the very awful Roger Rabbit wannabe, Cool World.
Now please… its a matter of opinion and you do have a righto your own. But I don't think its awful I liked it.... but was unaware David Bowie sang a song for it. Do you know what the song's name was?

The same name of the movie, Cool World.
-
Ralph Bakshi had the idea to make Cool World long before Roger Rabbit existed. Nobody ripped anyone off, just coincidentally similar ideas that I'm sure many artists thought up before.

-
Welp, I've had a very Bowie day. Went back and listened to a bunch of my favorite songs from my catalog of Bowie CDs. And I listened to the Aladdin Sane and Scary Monsters albums for the first time (Scary Monsters is friggin' great).
Anyway, since no one has posted it yet
-
The musical history on Bowie seriously needs revamping.
Down with the Berlin trilogy, up with the Berlin Quintilogy.1. Station to Station
2. Low
3. Heroes
4. Lodger
5. Scary MonstersFive great (ok four, Lodger is whatever) classics that all to one extent or another dabble happily in a wonderous stew of early uber-quality New Wave and Krautrockisms.
Also imo waaaay better than the Ziggy period. Also waaaay more influential. So much amazing shit we wouldn't have without. -
@Monkey:
So much amazing shit we wouldn't have without.
The world would not be worth living in if Golden Years wasn't recorded.
-
A starman of phenomenal talent has been lost. Still shocked that he's really gone.
He left behind quite an unforgettable legacy.
-
It was touching to read Iggy Pop's comments on Bowie's passing. A guy who Bowie essentially saved the life of more or less, and contributed tons of help and songwriting to Pop's two solo masterworks, The Idiot and Lust for Life.
They helped each-other sober up in 76', and then went and made some of the best of music. -
Another thing to prove Bowie was a really cool guy: After T. Rex singer Marc Bolan died in a car crash, Bowie essentially the godfather to his son and helped him and his mom financially. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2025138/How-David-Bowie-saved-Marc-Bolans-son.html
I came across that story a while back while reading about the original version of Tainted Love (Gloria Jones, Rolan Bolan's mother).
-
Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick obviously love Bowie as they reference him a ton in Venture Bros and even included a fictionalized version of him as a character in the show.
They were asked about Bowie's passing in an interview recently, and Doc had some VERY great words about the man.
@Doc Hammer:
He’s more than a human being; he’s this thing that we’ve all had since childhood. None of us got to call him up and have lunch with him and stuff. And that hasn’t changed. That will never change. The music and what he did to style and our hearts is untouchable. There’s so much of David Bowie that lives in us that never goes away. I think his influence that is immortality. He lives in anybody who has a fucking idea about culture. At least we have that, and we always have that. He gave that to all of us.
So, no he won’t be adding to that anymore. But I am forever filled with so much Bowie that — I’m honestly stymied. I’ve been stymied since I found out. I just don’t know what to do with the information. And I’ve been fully aware of it that we’re not always going to live in a world with Bowie. It was kind of obvious that he wasn’t doing well for a long time, but it’s stymieing. Losing Leonard Nimoy and David Bowie were huge events in my life. It really is that kind of loss of the father that I chose. You know? These people raised me. I would be a different person without them being in the world. So, it’s hard. It’s hard. But I can pacify myself knowing that what he’s done is there. He will be affecting lives of people who have never heard his name, will eventually learn his name and have their lives changed by David Bowie. Still.

It's a little late and I should have said it before.
R.I.P. David Bowie.
