If Texas actually succeeds in seceding, it'll fail within a year. Current Republicans in congress and the House etc wouldn't allow it to happen anyway. Texas is HUGE come presidential election time. They are as important to the Republican party from an electoral standpoint as New York and Cali are to the Democrats. Without Texas, The Democratic nominee for president will just basically win by default every time.

Rush Limbaugh on his show was whining about minorities being the real racists because they overwhelmingly voted for a black guy, see, completely ignorant of the fact that that's what we do when the other party pushed through civil rights, didn't implement the Southern Strategy, and at least nominally tries to listen to what we do want instead of telling us what we should want. Also, nominating Rubio in 2016 will somehow swing over the non-Cuban Hispanic vote because all brown people are single minded I guess.
Listening to conservative radio is bad for my blood pressure.

The people who really want a Civil War disgust me. Cause obviously, that's all we really need to do to solve our problems: Kill each other.
Regardless, they will fail at seceding. And even if they contemplated a Civil War, none of them have the guts or willpower to even start something remotely close to a Civil War. This is just people being butthurt, and it will all pass by as wounds heal.
There might be one or two people who will attempt to do something stupid, but hopefully they'll be caught before they do anything.

Civil Wars are, in my opinion, (one of) the worst type of wars to have–which makes hearing such...stuff 'bothersome'. You can have brothers fighting brothers, sisters fighting sisters, and--heck--even fathers fight sons; everyone has to pick a side, too. sigh

Why even think about it. It's not even close to even being remotely slightly possible. It's ok to laugh at this but to even think about it in serious terms gives it more credit than it could ever deserve.

We should all take comfort wherever we are (even overseas really) that this election above all else showcased the start of the end of THAT America. Eventually one day it will be like just West Virginia, Arkansas, and Mississippi alone who haven't moved on and are waving crazy around in the air.
Demographics are a tide you can't stop. And it's not just MORE BROWN PEOPLE that's doing this. It's generational too. -
Come to think of it, far as the secession that would never happen goes, what of San Antonio, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and Austin?
All of those counties (along with several others, especially those closest to the Rio Grande) were won by Obama. If Texas has the right to secede, then shouldn't those counties have the right to secede from Texas in order to rejoin the Union like West Virginia did during the Civil War?

Warfare has evolved a ton since the Civil War. Back then, any gun maker could make the same kind of weapons the US army had, because they didn't have any real more sophisticated methods of Combat.
If a group of states Seceded and declared War, they would be completely decimated before the ink would even dry on the War Declaration. The US military has enough weapons, vehicles, and organized manpower to wipe a few redneck NRA members and their assault rifles off the map in the blink of an eye.
