I really, really didn't want Jinbei as a nakama…
Let's just hope he refuses next chapter.

I wrote my novel while you wrote your book. I applaude your penmanship! :D
Books are easy to understand, and descritive to the core.
Novels are short and epic, and let your head spinning with their amazing theories…
WOW
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! Jimbei will join! Fuck yes!
@i:
Not sure if this was mentioned already but do you guys think Luffy will get something from Jinbei's blood? As in some small ability or resistance or maybe he can understand fish now? I honestly have no idea, I'm wondering what you peeps think.
It wasn't mentioned and as far as Im concerned, fuck no.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
You should talk to alina james then…she's ready to donate 100$ to anyone that say to her that jinbei will join.
Alina only cares for shapes of characters not the story XD.
Like 2 or 3 more girls around here XD, not being offensive just telling it like it is.
I was really hoping Jinbe wouldn't join, but after reading the actual chapter and seeing it set up that way, I'd be shocked if Oda doesn't do it. Oda's got this whole "fishmen settling their differences with humans" thing going, and having Jinbe join will be Oda's way of saying how the SH's will change the way this is viewed throughout the world.
Luffy will always have characteristics that resemble Roger, because only a certain type of man can become Pirate King. He isn't a Roger clone (Shank's influence etc). Luffy having the voice of all things was so obvious, I swear there's been hints throughout, but the only one I can think of is anime filler (he was able to talk to the dragon thing [who says filler isn't canon? :P])
Whether Jinbe will definitely join or not, he hasn't joined, so save the welcome until next week (or whenever he does join).
Maybe this was so obvious to everyone, but no one seems to be talking about Noah… A WEAPON TO DESTROY THE WORLD? Clearly it's an ancient weapon, no? So I wonder whether they will fix it up.
Also, I think it's strange that Caribou left the mermaids. I hope Oda didn't do that just to clear the Strawhat's name, or there's a more interesting plot development. After all, was it not the Decken family who wanted the treasure? Or maybe someone else...
I also thought the speech at the end was Jinbe, but I guess it isn't.
@Lazy:

I think people have touched upon this before. Might just have to do with the fact that Caribo has a limit on how much he can suck up, and he found the treasure to be more valuable than these mermaids.
That seems strange to me. Maybe he can't store people, or else they would die? I mean, why would you need the mermaids if you can make more money from the treasure than from selling them?
Thinking about it, that's probably it.
Huh. Well, consider me subscribed to Urouge's theory on reincarnation in One Piece. As for Caribou, he must have a limit he can hold to leave the mermaids.
@panda bear Great and intelligent post! Best one so far in the thread IMO. :)
Damn, Oda's panel usage here was off the charts. So much attention to detail with every speech bubble. Best chapter of Fishman Island for me, and quite a bit above the average OP chapter! That shirt thing a few posts above is just another little easter egg that gives One Piece more breadth.
So Caribou truly was meant to leech until the New World (supposedly). I'm interested in every single thing that happens now :D 'specially Noah like Lazy Justice mentioned. The only reason it's being overlooked is because the King mentioned it so casually, I think. Remember, Oda likes to hide things in plain sight.
Oh my gosh, I just have to laugh at some of the people who say just cuz hes got haki and the maybe the same ability to hear them that he doesn't work hard.
Hey guys, remember when Luffy saved Robin like that from the goverment? The way he was able to defeat Lucci so easy? Yah, good times, good times. He didn't do any training at all those past 2 years, yup just sat there the entire time on that island doing nothing while the others trained, just for having the same abilitys maybe, wow. Oh yah, he saved his friends from getting sent to different islands too? New World Luffy will be able to through it like that, since every one even more powerful than him was able to, I mean lets look at Crocodile he was able to make his dream come true just like that, just some thing else.
Ask for personality, please he has his own, you guys are just saying that now due to again maybe having that same power, you weren't even saying any thing about that till now. I love his personality, hes funny and does whatever he wants and doesn't want to be a hero cuz hey'll have to share his food and he doesn't want to Don't think Rodger has ever said that.
Just erase your memory, like it never happened and continue reading the manga and love Luffy for who he was in the past, act like he is his own character like he was in the past. Again, didn't bother you till now, so why should?
Ask for Jinbe joining, I don't care. I'm one of those few who don't really want him to, as it would ruine the Monster Trio but whatever. I really enjoyed the chapter, every thing about it was good.
caribou made me laugh.. and apparantly i missed last weeks chapter, i'm still a bit puzzled about that @_@.
luffy has been hearing the voice of all things since loguetown why is it a suprise he has that power? (see the 1000 yearly dragon arc *waz-da-name) still waiting on conformation that zorro has it too -
The panel Luffy is receiving blood and calling Jinbe is really akward (not to say gay)
I understand Chopper wanting to test out Monster Point in a real combat situation, but I think at the expense of him not being able to move his body for hours.. it's a little ridiculous that he would go all out like that in a fight that every member of his crew was clearly winning.
How to express feelings with your shirt :
Sir, that's great.
Perhaps unnecessary baggage.
P.S. I don't think Zkaiser is talking about that. Him being destined to be a Pirate king in his belief has nothing to do with destiny itself but simply it being a shounen manga. On the other hand he is annoyed with unnecessary links like the straw hat he has. It takes away from the unique person Luffy is.
His smile is almost the same, he hears the voice of all things, he goes by the path Roger took, he deals with stuff in the same way and he even wears the same "stupid" hat.I think that is what Zkaiser is talking about. That it adds nothing of positive to the entire character of Luffy in fact it would be much more interesting if he was unique and diffrent from Roger. Not to mention that if he has the same will and destiny and so on, he might end up on the execution platform as well (oh well he did once, but you know what I mean)
Well Zkaiser will reply, but go easy on her till than
Yeah, Blue has gotten my thoughts correct.
Yeah, Blue has gotten my thoughts correct.
You should really read what others have to say before commenting again, Shanks had the hat too and kind of same personality as Rodgers, what does that say? Luffy has a different personality from him, he doesn't want to be a hero cuz he'd' have to share his food and loves adventure and does deal with a lot of hard work even with maybe the same powers? Did we see him defeat villains easy? He had a hard time with Arlong and Lucci and villains after that, for all we know he had the same powers back than and that didn't change things now. Again, what does the hat say? I can see Luffy handing down the hat to some one else, does that mean your going to keep calling the main characters Rodger clones? For the hat being one of those reasons? Thats silly.
I'll say Luffy is too much like Roger on the very day he kills an entire crew.
Until then, I think it will end with Luffy having a lot of the same traits as Roger but being different where it matters. This will enable him to succeed where Roger failed. (The World Government, lost century, maybe being able to keep his head on his shoulders…)
Yeah, Blue has gotten my thoughts correct.
So you meant the parallels are annoying because they're just there to be "cool" and have no other relevance? Well you have a point in that case, so far they have been pretty pointless, but I don't think the parallels were established without reason because they have been there since Lougetown. My guess is we might not be finding out till who knows when.
OH SHITTTTT…
I'm so excited and confused at the same time....WOW
Everyone's making Luffy-Roger comparisons, when they should be making D comparisons.
I mean seriously, all the Ds are similar. They all act the same, and Saul, Roger, and Ace all died with a smile on their face. Luffy was about to die with a smile on his face in Loguetown, and I'd bet anything that when Blackbeard's time comes, he'll have a big ol grin on his face. Same for Dragon.
Obviously, the voice to hear all things is a trait of the Ds and not one belonging solely to Roger and Luffy.
It's not that Luffy is a "Roger clone," it's that Luffy is a D.
Think about it. Roger knew someone would finish what he started, and that that person would carry the name of D. That's why it could theoretically be either BB, Dragon or Luffy, the only three Ds still living today. We know that it will be Luffy only because he is our protagonist.
At the same time, however, it's not like this is being handed to him. He's had to fight for it. He's nearly lost his life for it several times. Hell, if not for Robin, Luffy would have died in Alabasta. If not for Jinbei, he would have died countless times now. If Luffy is truly going to become Pirate King, he will have fought his ass off to earn the title.
So stop your whining of destiny and fate and yada yada, and look at the picture as a whole.
Good chapter, Jinbe's gonna join the crew.
Hate Mangashare and their "Be my Nakama" bullshit, but still good chapter.

They were all really just showing off to each other. Remember the panel right after the battle ended and their discussion about each other's improvements?
Great Chapter, ending page made me happy as well.
Lol'd at Robin with Chopper after Monster Point was done. Feel kinda bad for Sanji, it's just like in Strong World. :V
Oh mangastream, you and your bad translation of an amazing chapter!
Luffy himself doesn´t care about destiny. He just lives!
Really nice chapter, can´t wait for more!

Yeah you're definitely right, just the whole not being able to move for 3 hours thing makes it sorta risky to me. What if there were more people on the way after Hodi? Woulda been bad for him, but I'm literally wasting time talking about this because none of that happened haha.
Why has the last couple of chapter covers been Skypiea?
Because Skypiea comes after Alabasta and Jaya?
specially Noah like Lazy Justice mentioned. The only reason it's being overlooked is because the King mentioned it so casually, I think. Remember, Oda likes to hide things in plain sight.
I thought he was talking about Shirahoshi's power being awakened, not the Ark.
@The:

Because the covers before that were Alabasta, Drum, Little Garden, and East Blue? Long Ring Island and Water 7 will come next.
This a little off topic, but is it just me or does anyone else notice that Oda suddenly has a fetish with Chinese architecture? Amazon Lily, Ryugu Palace and the never cover art of "God's" palace, is heavily inspired by Asian-Chinese structures.
I love it, but up to a certain point. The reason why one piece is so epic is each island's own themes are borrowed from real world time periods/geography/cultures, hopefully Oda spreads out to a lot more things (which he has done but I want to to keep it up!) :ninja:
So has anyone thought that the purpose of Noah is to carry the inhabitants of Fishman Island to the surface?
Franky and Den are sure to fix it. Franky shall use his mech to fix it. It's the right size!
Now Luffy must destroy the Island.
Caribou is filled with treasure now? Nami pinata time. (Nami was actually shown fighting with Caribou in the newest DS game opening)

Oh, that reminds me. I have a strange question. Why would fishmen need something to get to the surface when they can swim to the surface?

Most people though of that, kind of obvious.
Haha, I guess this was the most accuratly predicted One Piece chapter ever. I feel like I've read all of this before.
Oh, that reminds me. I have a strange question. Why would fishmen need something to get to the surface when they can swim to the surface?
If they don't flee, but peacefully settle over to the the surface and Luffy destroys Fishman Island behind them the show the world that there's no going back, then they will have to bring all their belongings with them. Still a weird idea to have Sea Kings be the movers, I agree.

Probably the same reason people ride in cars through the desert.

I want to see Foxxy so bad :D.
He probably has a huge crew now(yes even bigger) or some big shot went there and won his entire crew including him.
The problem for me with Luffy following the same path as Roger isn't that he's "destined" to be great. We all knew this the moment we started reading the series. Luffy has worked harder than anyone to get where he is, it isn't like he just sits on his backside waiting to be pirate king. The problem for me is it devalue's every other pirate in One Piece. It's like they don't have a sniff at being the pirate king they are just there to give Luffy some adventure along the way. The whole destiny thing kind of makes a mockery of them. Although I guess you could say it just gives them a big challenge. ( which they can't overcome )
Since Foxy is one of the only villains that didn't get a redemption cover story, I assume Oda has something big planned for him.
And Axe Hand for the matter.
Krieg could be dead, and I'd be okay with that.
i love when they use the word nakama in translations. I dont feel its the same as just "friend" or "crew", nakama is something more.

I do have interested in those 3 though including Krieg, he was just an asshole but I would actually know whats up with his crew atleast even if he is death.
Morgan I'm really interested to know what he is up to too, him and Foxxy were pretty much ignored and Oda usually shows his old characters in some fashion.

What about Kuro?!
:cwy:
@Oga:
That's a good point. I wonder how many of the Strawhats are virgins. What a strange question.
to the SBS-mobile I say!
I have nothing to add but to say Hodi's K.O.'d face is freakin' hilarious. That is all.
Great chapter can't wait to see the next one
I wonder if Noah could be an Ancient Weapon.

ahahaha nooooo

Thats obviously it. I can't read it otherwise.
Noa did not awaken, Shirahoshi's power did. :/
