I think we already have a tabletop gaming thread?
One Liner Questions

@Purple:
I think we already have a tabletop gaming thread?
hmm, I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Would it be worthwhile to make a new one or should I keep looking? -
I want to buy a cheap PC that i can upgrade for gaming use, i found a decent HP G3 prodesk 400 with these specs:
Intel i7-6700 Processor that reaches 4.00 GHz with turbo boost.
an Intel H110 Express motherboard.
500GB of storage.
4 GB (DDR4) of RAM.
an Intel HD Graphics 530 integrated graphics unit.it's price is 560$. im told that it has a replaceable power supply unit which means i can upgrade it with any GPU card of my choosing.
so is it worth the price? -
Depends what you want to play. If you want to play newer games, they have problems even with newer hardware. The GPU there isn't good. You might be able to upgrade it like you said but 4GB of ram also isn't enough for newer games. The CPU seems to be pretty decent though. What you can replace also depends on the size and features of the case and motherboard though. So basically you're going to need a new GPU, power supply, and some more ram, at the minimum, on top of the $560 you're already spending. Depending on what you want to play on it of course.

I want it to play current gen games like killer instinct and doom.
-
Those games at least are well optimized apparently. But yeah, if you want that you're going to need to replace the GPU with something mid-high to high end, which would mean also replacing the power supply. You'll need more than 4GB of RAM I imagine. And you'd have to hope the motherboard and the size of the case would actually be able to support the replacements.

Is it really only 4 GB, I think it's not correct

Anyone have any experience with component or composite to HDMI converters? I bought an original Xbox a while ago and played it for a little bit but right now don't have access to a TV and neither of my monitors support component or composite. But there are a lot of component/composite to HDMI converters and I really have no idea what to look for in them.
-
when you say monitors, do you mean pc monitors?
if you are, then you can easily find an rgb to vga converter or an rgb to hdmi maybe? i honestly don't know if the latter exists tho. -
VGA is a very outdated conection. My monitor has HDMI, DVI, and Displayport. I know component to HDMI exists, I just don't know how to tell if what I'm getting is good and was wondering if anyone else had any experience with this.

What is the difference between an Australian Accent to a British Accent?
-
Difference in vowel pronunciation and some difference in vocabulary. There's actually a good variety in accents in Britain though and some are more different to the Australian accent (there's probably more than one of them too) than others. The Wikipedia pages on the accents have vowel charts that could help you if you want the more technical information on it.

Australians are way more nasal sounding for one.

Recently my computer has been acting up with Fanfiction.net. Chrome and IE can't connect, Firefox can't "make a secure connection", and I have no idea why. It in itself is not a malicious site. This problem doesn't happen with the Wii U browser or phone, or even the school computers.
Help :O

Is there a place to post theories?

I have 36 theories saved. If I dropped all of them, would there be an issue? Is there a limit or can I just all of them rn?

To make the page load better, simply encase each theory in hide/spoiler tags. There's no limit ;)

Thanks this was helpful

I've got another annoying problem; my internet connection bars keep dropping to one, forcing me to keep connecting and reconnecting. It's getting more annoying/common then the yellow ! mark for Limited connection.

How do you dispute infractions on the forums?

I got a new sound system, but my TV doesn't support ARC and I often watch movies on it off of a hard drive, and some of them have 5.1 DTS-HD audio and the like. Right now I have the TV connected to my receiver with an optical/toslink cable but apparently this cable isn't compatible with the Dolby proprietary sound types. I have watched a video with DTS audio and I was getting audio so worst case I'm just not getting as good quality as I could. In any case I noticed that my TV also has what looks like an auxiliary plug that says "Audio Out" on it and I was wondering if anyone knows if using that cable type would be compatible with these proprietary sound types.

Is there a way to quote other people in an advanced reply without manually typing in what they said? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Yeah, you press the "Reply With Quote" Button beneath their post and then hitting "Go advanced" below. Like in this screenshot:

Thank you! Although, when I when tried to quote both of you this way, it would only let me do it with one person. So is there a way to auto quote multiple people?
-
The third button, the one to the right of "Reply with Quote" is a multiquote button. If you click it it'll get a checkmark next to it and you can do that for as many posts as you want to quote on the current page. Then hit any of the reply buttons and it'll give you a box with all those quotes posted. So for example, if I wanted to quote your post and the two quotes above it I would click the multiquote button on Purple Hermit and Femme's posts and then click "Reply with Quote" for your post. Or I think I could click multiquote on all three posts and then just the generic reply button and it would do the same thing. I'm pretty sure it only works on the same page though. So you couldn't click multiquote on one page, move to another page, and then have it work.
Edit: Using the multiquote buttons and then clicking the generic "Reply" button on another post won't work. You either have to do multiquote on all but one post then click "Reply with Quote" or do the multiquote on all the posts and hit the "Reply to Thread" button under all the posts.

Thanks a ton! I got it now.

Out of curiosity, how much money does it take to run the forums? And is it by monthly, or is it a yearly payment?

How come after posting a comment through the Quick Reply box, the text still appears in the box? It's kind of annoying when refreshing and getting a pop-up asking if I'm sure to leave the page, only when I say yes the text is still there anyway. When I actually leave the page by closing the tab the text is gone though. I don't even get the pop up if I close the tab. FireFox is the browser, though I think this happened in Chrome too when I used it.
I signed up for pixiv just now. How exact do I favorite art or follow a certain artist?
You might have figured this out by now, but to follow an artist, you can click the "+ Follow" button under a user's name on their profile. If you want to favorite an art piece, click the star button to "bookmark" it. IIRC you don't actually bookmark the page, that's just what they call it.

Does anyone know of an adblock filter that can stop the pop-up videos that have been attached to nearly every wikia now?
I can't block the elements themselves, as it seems they are unique to every wiki page. It's powered by JW media player, but I can't block this aspect of it either.
This is frustrating me to no end when I need to find a single piece of information and the page is taking forever to load because it's loading a video that will scroll along with the page.

If you have a Wikia account, you can create a global CSS page on the Community Central Wikia (like this) and paste this code:
.featured-video__wrapper, .featured-video {
display: none;
}This has worked for me, at least so far.

Are there any websites that reliably list table of contents for a bunch of manga magazines in Japan? I managed to find a place that does it for Ultra Jump but specifically right now I'm interested in Morning Two. I haven't been able to find anything like that on the magazine's website, just the front cover of it and when it comes out.

In the past year did something happen to cause some threads to disappear? I can't for the life of me find the German One Piece Dub thread. I know I posted in it last year when the new episodes aired. I don't know any reason why it'd be deleted either.
I went back a few pages, but that already had threads from 2015 and beyond. I checked the General One Piece forum and Other Anime Media and it wasn't there. I used the search function and only found 2 decade+ old threads.

I was trying the different themes of the forum on my laptop. After having choose Mobile I ended up being unable to go back to general settings to pick another one. Anyone knows how to do that?
EDIT: Found the solution.

I am thinking of developing some C++ code on my Windows computer that will need to perform some basic linear algebra operations (solving problems with large, sparse matrices). Can anyone recommend a solid set of C++ IDE, compiler, and linear algebra packages for me to get started with? It needs to be free and beginner friendly.
-
I use Notepad++ for nearly anything programming or simple text editing related. I do think it's kind of a pain to set up compiling from within the program but if you're willing to work to do it I like the program a lot. For what little C++ stuff I've done I've used GCC.
-
Thanks, I'm familiar and comfortable with Notepad++ for text editing, but haven't really tried using it as an IDE before.

Anyone know any high calorie foods in Japan?
Is it just me or are Japanese foods just not high calorie? Even when I eat the supposed high calorie foods I'm still losing weight.
I'm 21 6"2' and dropped from 74kg to 64kg in Japan and still dropping I think.

Does anyone know of any places based in Singapore that will sell used books internationally? I'm looking for a manga series that was translated to English in Singapore but the company doesn't exist anymore.

I seem to have run into the same problem you did, but have thus far been unable to find the solution. Mind sharing your method?
