i don't think this flashback… it will be stupid if pudding reveal her plan to Reiju and then let her go.
i keep looking at Reiju in page 14 and page 17 she acting weird, what i think is that not Reiju but just clone or something, i don't think that Reiju is weak and she will be beaten just like that
Chapter 850: Ray of Hope

-
Why did Pudding cry after annoucing her evil plan to Luffy and Nami? There was no one to fool anymore but… us, readers. And since obviously she didn't break the fourth wall, I wonder what those fake tears were for. If they were fake. This plot twist changes a lot. I thought Sanji would end up facing Germa, but it seems like they will end up allies in a battle against Big Mom. I guess Sanji should try warning his family right away - altough after all they did to him, I don't think their lives matter that much. The future is more interesting than ever. How will Sanji react to this? How are the other crew mates getting saved?Looking forward to the next chapters.
She was

Sanji is the fucking worst character in this arc.
I never said it… Not even against Khalifa. I always thought there will be more to it... And I was right... But at the end it was just lackluster because Zeff told him not to do so. JUdge mistreating his mom would be far more fiting for his huge ideology of not hitting women. Instead Khalifa scene for me now looks like shit as well.
All the years he was talking big about seeing through women lies... And actually he can see shit and was behaving like a damn idiot in front of Pudding fooling himself. Why? Because he only can see the good in women and knows when they are just acting evil.
The other way around he is behaving like his common idiot self more or less and just look at da tits and ass.
Either he finally fucking gets that his thinking is shit or fuck off and die as virgin.
And that's by me... Kishido
-
I guess when you add Luffy and Nami getting lost in the Seducing Woods with evil Pudding, it starts to make a little more sense with the whole picture. She purposefully pointed them that way to try and get rid of 'em.
-
Why is favorites in quotations?
-
So Pudding is a baddie. That's good. Let's hope Oda commits to that and doesn't flip her halfway through.

And probably wine for Brook (Pink Sake)
Sanji made this bento desperately trying to forget his crew and focus only on Pudding, but look at the result. No matter how much Sanji consciously tries to forget them, his precious hands embody his soul as the Straw Hat’s cook, betraying his effort to distract himself. (Sunnyul Tumblr)
Ok, no one is crying.. no one is crying…Whoa. Awesome find.
-
Ugh. I loved every aspect of this chapter except that Pudding reveal. I know everyone was calling it…but it felt so forced. I mean kudos to you Oda cause I actually stopped hating Sanji for a little while this arc, but his actions after this reveal will really determine how I feel about him going forward. I fucking love that Pedro's bounty is $382,000,000 and WTF is Tamago an actual egg? Humpty Dumpty anyone? Is he a powerful soul trapped in a giant egg that can put himself back together or does he have a DF like crackers where it's just a clone?
I'm still sticking to my theory that Capone is working with Blackbeard and he's going to use the now confirmed Red Wedding to take out BM after he helps her take out the Vinsmokes and she's gloating classic villain style.

What? You really think Sanji was fooled because his weakness for women? What of everyone else that was fooled then?
Either he finally fucking gets that his thinking is shit or fuck off and die as virgin.
Either you finally fucking get after years of reading One Piece that character with personality flaws =/= bad character in any form of fiction, on the contrary that's what makes them interesting and not boring, or you'll keep being disappointed forever.
Seriously, i really don't get why most of manga readers pretend strong characters to always be flawless without any major quirk and badass all the time.
Sanji is a very human character, he has weaknesses and strenghts, and among those weakness are included the emotional weaknesses that almost all humans have. Although i too would never beheave like he does i don't pretend to say "his thinking is shit" or stop to like him as character just because he behaves in a weird way.
-
I do not have the slightest problem with his flaw… But like Usopp HE HAS TO FINALLY overcome it in this serious situation.
And no damn EL scene repeated where he took a beating of Khalifa cuz of this.
It's enough
-
Amazing chapter. A lot of us already saw the Pudding thing coming, so I'm glad it wasn't drawn out. I guess it's the SHs + Vinsmokes + Jinbei (and friends i.e. captured book creatures) vs Big Mom. Awww yeah.
-

I don't think he has to. Usopp's dream is to overcome his fears. But Sanji never showed any intention of changing from his mindset. If you don't like his character the way he is and you hope he'll change then i guess you never liked Sanji in the first place.

LOL ok that's some bullshit.

It would seem the only way for Sanji to save face for a lot of readers would be to kick Pudding dead in the face.
I just hope he gets to it before Rejiu gets killed.

Hasn't Oda been adamantly defending Sanji reasoning and choices for not attacking women before though?
It's not happening, he has to find some other way.
-
Nope… Not really... But at least stop her with all you have to save everyone and let other kick her face if he still isn't able to do.
I still do not get how he could have lost to Kalifa if he was far stronger. He hadn't to kick her left and right just blocking her or avoid her
-
in fact the ray of light. it is us reader believing this chapter finally announces Mr Prince return :-)
-

If BM plans to kill the Vinsmokes why didn't Pudding just kill Reiju?
I mean if she found something out, why let the possibility of her escape and telling the others when you can solve it all by killing her and staching the body.
Then again why didn't BM kill Pedro and his entire crew after trying to steal her Ponyglphys.
-
But well Sanji needs to act now is the hope we have.
I really want to see what he will do. Will he tell it to Judge and Co to somehow get their support or will he play them and Big Mom against each… He hates both after all
And there is still Reiju, where I think he at let cares for.
Further more we have Zeff.... but here he can't do anything. Either he and his crew die or Zeff dies
-
I think it's a given now that he'll start planning something. But i don't expect him to ever change his ideals nevertheless.

This was not directed at me, but I think personality flaws make a character more interesting when they are portrayed as flaws. When the writer actually see them as positive aspects and play them that way, they don't actually make the character more interesting.
And Sanji's behavior never seem to be played as a negative aspect of him. Even though it may be condemned by other characters and actually put him in disadvantage in serious scenes, like against Kalifa, it always seem like Oda is trying to make us admire him for that, to see in that one of his best qualities instead of a flaw. It's like Naruto unbearable obsession over Sasuke. That could have made him a VERY interesting character, but Kishimoto never saw that as an obsession that could have its roots in N factors, just a very healthy true friendship that should be emulated by everyone else.

Im well aware of Sanjis chivalry being of the upmost importantance but if he doesnt do something and fast his sister is about to be murdered. Rejiu is my curly eyebrowed waifu, id hate to see her get killed and while Oda typically doesnt kill off characters, I think this arc is where deaths start happening more commonly.

I don't really think Oda has ever try to play his beheaviour in a positive way, or to suggest the reader to admire him for this. He just creates characters and then readers have to choose, IIRC he himself said that he doesn't put any message in his manga, the themes comes out of their own. Look at this:
[hide][/hide]
Nami is calling him an idiot, even Zoro often mock him for his beheaviours, and i personally find no indication from the author about who is right and who is wrong. -
-
I wonder if he can put himself back together like Humpty since he was cut in half. No way is he defeated that easily, even though his bounty isn't really that high. Sanji would have no probably defeating Tomago if they fought, that is without the infamous power up everyone thinks he will get this arc.
I think you are right. There's no way a chef like Sanji wouldn't beat the egg. Baron Tomago would be devilled in short order.

BTW
With Pedro more or less ruled out… Who is the traitor of the minksit doesmt have to be a mink traitor could easily be a wano traitor
-
@Dr.:
One Piece never fails to amaze. What a chapter!
But there're sure some questions still unanswered. The spoiler said only Big Mom knows Pudding's true nature, i assume mangastream just screwed up with "only my family members", otherwise i don't know what to make of the scene with Tamago where she was anxious to get away.
Does someone have the raw? I'm gonna check the link I have and revert

@Long:
it doesmt have to be a mink traitor could easily be a wano traitor
Still, a Wano traitor would likely have had access to a Vivre Card pointing to one of the Samurai - which Jack and his men obviously lacked. Unless Mononosuke's clan have their own means of finding their way towards Zo - we weren't yet told how Kinemon, Kanjuro and the ninja intended to reach the island in the first place

"私の本性は家族しか知らないの"
So mangastream is right.Interesting. Now all that is left to explain is why Pudding was so anxious to get away while Tamago was forcing her to choose the wedding dress. Maybe as she said in this chapter, she was just sick of following mama's orders.

Literally says;
"Only my family knows my true character".
Although it would have been cool if it was big mom that only knew.

On the next page Nami says he deserves credit for it.

hahaha I knew it Pudding is a total b**ch. I feel bad for Sanji though.
This wedding is going to be a total warzone now.
-
On the next page Nami says he deserves credit for it.
The author is still not intervening to express his feelings, he only let the characters speak. I really don't think Oda would go as far as not attacking a woman in a similar situation of life and death. What rather i think he wants to emphasize is Sanji's conviction in his ideal, regardless of how silly it may be.
-
I believe Pudding is scheming with Bege. Pekoms being captured by Bege while the strawhats were being distracted with Pudding, Reiju appearing like if she's inside Bege in the last chapter and now with Pudding, heck earlier in the arc where she was with Tamago she might've had to meetup with Bege. It would make a lot of sense IMO.
Also Pudding being evil makes more sense than her being good and I don't get how a lot of people are saying that it came out of nowhere when there's so much pointing to her not being honest at all.
-
I must admit evil Pudding is the most scary thing I've seen in One Piece for a long time, maybe ever.
-
Such an ironiclly named chapter.
Right then breakdown time (Gonna make it a new years resolution to do this with each chapter)
Cover:
LOL, poor Smokwy. I love how Oda can just really bring out the potenial of a simple request. Honestly makes me jealous I can't request one.Chopper and Carrot's Mirror Adventure:
Ah nice bit of levitiy before the hammer drops. Still trying to see where this will come in. Given the Alice in Wonderland motif, I take it this'll be the escape route for the crew once's all said and done. I honestly can see it given the homage to the Disney version.Pedro vs Tamago
Wow, such history between the two. Explains why Pedro was was so willing to come with the crew. Doubt Tamago's dead though, probably some weird devil fruit power. Egg Egg fruit. Hmm starting to wonder if this is a homage to Princess Bride. Also Zepo huh?Luffy and Nami:
Not gonna lie, I was winching when Luffy started trying to rip his arms just to free himself. That such a Zoro thing to do so never expected it from him. Much as I do dig the tension with them being helpless and all, kinda want them to get back into the fight already. Bad enough having to go eleven hours just to fight a commander, but now this. Then again that might just be me getting anxious with the reveal. Speaking of which….Pudding True Colors:
Welp lot of folks called it, so congrats. Still a bit on the fence though, seems a bit too convienent she would flip the switch like that. It's a nice twist but then again she could just be playing along to give the Straw Hats some conviction and take down Big Mom. Or maybe looking to take over the family herself. Really, too early to say now. I do like the aspect of evil empires fighting one another with the SH caught in between, so that's a nice touch. Poor Sanji though, all the sacrifice for naught. Disobey his family, he loses his arm and Zeff. Go through with the wedding, he loses his life. Just wow, give the guy a hug already.Overall: Good chap. Granted I would've liked to see how Brook's fairing but overall the twist was worth it.
Where to go from here?:
Okay we know the objectives of both familes, to gain control of the others forces. So yeah a war gonna break out soon. Though I notice Reiji being surprisingly calm given her situation. Maybe hiding a hidden den den mushi? Wouldn't surprise me, though if Judge throws her to the wolves for getting caught, that likewise wouldn't surpise me either. Hard to say what Sanji's gonna do, this leaves him with a sitation whether to help his family (or his sister at least) or leave them to their fate to save his friends. Sure the former are asshats, but they still got that control band on him and Zeff's well being is still in the air. Not sure if Brooke fighting Mom or just making a dash for it, still needs those polygraph rubbings. Who's gonna free Luffy and Nami? Chopper and Carrot? Pedro? Jinbei? (Seriously where is that guy?) Heck will the wedding even go on? Well given that Pudding has Reiji hostage, I'd say that'll be an extra alternative to keep Sanji to stay on. So much dire straits but I think by this point we've let the villains have their fun, so we should be seeing the seeds of their downfall soon. Either way, not a bad end of the year for OP. We're gonna hit the ground running in 2017, so looking forward to it. -
Aight so y'all have to place yourselves in Sanji's mindset to kind of understand what's going on. I legit can't understand why there's so much Sanji hate going around.
First off, Zeff is much more than just a parental figure. He may as well truly be Sanji's dad. After the horrible, horrible mistreatment he went through as a kid, he cost Zeff both his leg and his dream. Not only does he feel indebted but Zeff refined his cooking ability for sure. That's a lot that he owes to his father figure and I'm sure he would have picked up those lessons. "I was raised never to hit a lady" makes sense in this context. He never really got to grow as a child during his time with Vinsmokes but he had a "normal childhood" on Baratie so it makes sense that's when he'd pick up shit like this.
Sanji may be a perverted idiot, but it's sweet that he was genuinely concerned about Pudding being hungry. In this horrible situation, she really was his one ray of hope to the point where he was willing to throw away his friends and his adventure because she was the single redeeming factor. Many may have criticized this decision but when you're backed into this kind of insane corner it's easy to see where Sanji's coming from. So he goes through the trouble of picking flowers for her and making a bento (which I can't believe actually mirrors the SH's individual tastes, great touch by Oda) only to find out that she never loved him in the first place. What a gut punch.
It's easy to forgive everything Sanji's done up until now when you consider his situation is so fucked up it was probably casting a cloud over his mind and not making him think rationally. Now that he knows how Pudding truly is, it's time for him to snap out of this hell mindset and start becoming Mr Prince as most of us hope. I'm sure Oda will "redeem" Sanji's actions entirely by arc's end. We'll just have to wait and see how that works. The interesting situation here is, as readers, we don't really ally with the Big Mom crew or the Vinsmokes, so I'm just excited to see how Oda moves all the pieces forward and brings this arc to a close.
EDIT: http://mangastream.com/r/one_piece/850/3895/16
just look at his face when he finds out. Jesus. This is the kind of shock I hope turns him back into Mr Prince
-
i would be very happy to see the vinsmoke and big mom pirates kill each other. more so the vinsmokes getting massacred because i really don't think that big mom is even half as evil as judge or any of his shitty sons.
-
I'm having a feeling Chopper and Carrot are going to have to talk to Sanji first before he snaps into Mr. Prince mode. At the moment, he seems pretty despondent.
-
While i didn't really think that Pudding was evil I really like this side of her. She went from one of the nicest characters to one of the scariest/sadistic. The only thing is for some reason I don't know why BM would do this to the Vinsmokes when she basically gets the clone formula with the marriage anyway. But whatevs.
As for Sanji as opposed to most people I'm liking Sanji more and more this arc. While he may not be making the best decisions its cool too see him truly defeated. At this point I think he has 4 options.
1: Confront Pudding and save Reiju: I don't really think this is likely just because not only does it make Sanji give his trump card away (knowing the plan but they don't know that he knows) but also because I think it is unlikely that he actually attacks Reiju… tho I think that this is the closest he has gotten to breaking his code and if he did I wound't be all that surprised but I don't think he will. The thing that hints at his tho is Reiju stumbling through the halls with a bloody leg. Idk if this chapter was essentially a flashback or whatever but I don't see rejig escaping while Pudding is there. So maybe Sanji steps in and saves reiju when Pudding leaves or something.
2: Save Luffy and Nami: Now that Sanji knows whats going down he might try and go save Luffy and Nami. I for some reason doubt this just because Zeff is still on the table to be killed.
3: Warn the Vinsmokes: I think this would a be a really cool way to go because then it could set up the Vinsmokes allying with the SH. Now I don't think that Sanji really cares about his family besides maybe REiju a little but having the Vinsmoes on his back would help the Sh to escape so if he saw past his hatred and allied with them I think that would be the 'smartest' thing he could do to get out of the situation. Ntm this would get the threat to Zeff off his back. As for the becoming a grand fleet member I think it would be be interesting to have judge eventually sacrifice/protect himself to help Sanji escape with the his friends. Then that would lead to the other Vinsmokes seeing their fathers love for him and then join the the SH. Maybe all the Vinsmokes pull a bon clay Idk but I think that would be a great way to go with the story. How likely it is? not very but just a fun thought.
4: Chopper finds Sanji: Chopper finds Sanji and then they hatch a plan to save everyone. As for that plan idk what it would be.
I once was 100% solid on Bm not going down. I thought it would be too soon not enough allies. While I'm still not sold on it I think that this makes it a lot more likely because of the potential ally with the Vimsmokes and bege. Not to mention Jinebi is somewhere and Ceaser's storyline has yet to yield fruit
-
also the obligatory "i told you so" for pudding being evil, i saw it back when she led them to that dangerous forest in an attempt to trap them in it and her unusually kind and bland characterization. honestly if she didn't turn out evil i would've been pretty desapointed because she would've been the most boring one piece character. so kudos to oda lol.
-
Ooo I love this. Feels like it's been forever since Oda did this kind of "flip our exceptations upside down mid-arc"-thing. Most of the New World has been fairly straightforward, the bad guys that were introduced were the bad guys. This feels like Water 7 all over.
-

I seriously think that Sanji will go and tell the Vinsmokes but they will not believe him. I think they will just say that he is trying to get out of the marriage bla bla bla. At that point of despair out comes chopper from a mirror!!! lets see :D

Extra terrible Mangastream swearing than usual.
Agreed. It was "fucking" unecessary.

So many pages already.
Well, didnt expect Puddin' to be this corrupt. There was always the possibility she was hiding her true self, though. Oda made it seem like she was a nice person every step of the way.
I like how it turned out it was BM who was planning a betrayal after all. So much for being an honorable pirate.
Wonder if her own devious nature turns against her by the end of this arc.
