Only thing i can think of is possibility that the cuffs have less % of seastone in them compared to the bars which may have been 100% seastone. Maybe they put less seastone in the cuffs so that the workers aren't completely drained and can still work.

IS THAT THRILLER BARK I SEE?
SO COOOOLL
SHIRYUU HAS ABSA'S DF NO WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
CATARINA DEVONNNNNN <3 <3 <3
BLACKBEARDDDDD 2+ BILLION HOLY SHIT
so king and queen have great designs of course, but what i'm interested in is that King looks like a sky islander and Queen's epithet is THE PLAGUE. THE PLAGUE.
i wanna see what they can dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Wano is already becoming the best arc ever, all this reveals i cannot take it. And Oda very wisely kept us in blue balls for Auger, Doc Q, Stronger, Vasco Shot, and San Juan Wolf.
The blackbeard pirates are the coolest villains i've ever seen in anything, I've been deeply in love with them as antagonists ever since I read Jaya. It's so, so cool to see them shaping up to be these crazy dudes.
And Blackbeard's Pirate Island makes SO much sense. His love of partying is like a dark, twisted version of Shanks or Luffy's, or even Buggy's. But it's so fitting. Also blows my mind that Pirates Island was mentioned as far back as Davy Back Fight. So yea i cannot handle all this insanity rn. Also, i cannot believe someone like Jack actually acts that way towards King and Queen. Just makes me dread them even more.

RE: Chapter 924 : Ha*
Can't Kaidou not, y'know, drown?
I'm sure he can, but that's not the point. Kaidou doesn't want to kill himself, and it's not that he's suicidal necessarily. It's more about wanting to test his own limits. Like, imagine one day you wake up and you find out you're superman. You know Kryptonite will make you weak, but you want to REALLY test that you're superman so you jump off a skyscraper to see if you'll live.
Then you find out you do live and think of some other way you might be killed if you weren't superman. Rinse and repeat.

RE: Chapter 924 : Ha*
The last 3 chapters collectively may just be my favorite thing ever in One Piece so far. And believe me I don't say that lightly.
Now, I'm not one of those fans who believe the old, classic arcs such as Arlong Park, Alabasta, or Skypeia are inherently superior than the arcs we've gotten post-timeskip. It all connects in a good way and many of those early arcs had to doubly flesh out a world that wasn't quite as well understood as it is today. But at the same time I, and I assume many of you, have a deep fondness for those old arcs and do have a reverence for them for elevating One Piece into heights that other manga just didn't quite reach.
THIS is how crazy the past 3 chapters have been for me. Wano is making me feel the same way I felt when I read those old school arcs. It's making me feel that so hard I'm actually feeling legit nostlagic right now.
The reason I point this out is because a lot of this, for me, hinges on my own personal hype for Kaidou. In many ways, Kaidou was THE element I was looking forward to most in the manga. And I believe he was built up and then shown off absolutely flawlessly. I was hyped for him ever since learning he's the guy who broke Moria, and then was aggressive enough to go after WB but had to be intercepted by Shanks. He was the Yonkou who went the longest before we were officially introduced to him. When we finally WERE in Chapter 795, his design alone was so fiercely intimidating I knew that Oda had already nailed it.
Cause we needed a character like Kaidou who actually FEELS like he commands the fear/loyalty/respect of absolute monsters like JACK the very first character to have a bounty over a billion.
So the last 3 chapters have been a ride. We got to learn his Devil Fruit. A lot of people had theorized it would be a dragon, and in response to those theories i was like ya ok it makes sense but it'd be kinda boring and predictable…. but the sheer amazing execution of it won me over instantly. Seeing him one shot Luffy in his human form only made it better. That was the kind of steamroll we needed to see, and now it's capped off with him being thrown into the same prison as Kidd, with confirmation that Kidd has CoC.
Bringing Kidd back in an organic way is so fucking awesome but there's one thing I want to point out about Kaidou:
The reason I was so hype for Kaidou is because Kaidou destroyed a potential plot thread I was really hyped at the idea of.
Back when Kidd, Apoo, and Hawkins teamed up and declared their intention to take down Shanks, THAT was already hype enough for me. I honestly would have loved to see a combined On Air-Kidd-Hawkins Pirates try to take down Shanks. But Kaidou fell on them and only a couple chapters later we see that he's broken the On Air-Kidd-Hawkins alliance and gotten Apoo (and we later find out Hawkins) to work for him, and has beaten the everloving shit out of Kidd.
HOLY SHIT.
The past 3 chapters completely re-contextualizes Chapter 795 for me. Kaidou was introduced proper in a REALLY WEIRD WAY. He was introduced as someone who's so powerful he can't die no matter what, and this has made him attempt to kill himself just as a form of amusement. Let me put it another way: Kaidou is so goddamn bored because he's so strong no combat's a challenge to him, and he basically can't be damaged. He's kinda like Saitama, in a weird way. He's so bored he's been reduced to trying to kill himself as a hobby just to see if anything will actually do the job.
The other reason I love Kaidou is because him being a huge drunk makes everything make sense in character. This is a guy who can become sentimental about his crew but also wants to start the craziest war the world's ever seen because he's just bored. Even his suicidal hobby makes sense when you re-contextualize it with the fact that he's a huge alcoholic. Even something like him leaving Law for later made TOTAL SENSE to me.
From Kaidou's perspective, it doesn't matter whether or not he goes after Law now, or later. There's absolutely nothing Law can do to him. Fighting with Luffy sobered him up so he'd rather go and get drunk again and let his underlings deal with it.
So I feel like we've been giving a good helping of setup, some tasty reveals like Kaidou's fruit, and an excellent cliffhanger of Luffy being locked up with Kidd. I honestly can't wait to see where Wano goes from here, and that's what I meant when I said it gives me a nostalgic feeling of the old arcs. I just want the next chap to drop immediately so I can find out what's going to happen next. I didn't necessarily feel that way during parts of WCI.
So yeah, give it to me Oda.
P.S. i don't need to post the Jinbe Rap again to let you guys know that JINBE'S PROLLY JOINING THIS ARC GET READY FOR MONKEY AND FISHMAN FIGHTING THE DRAGON. IT'S LAND, SEA, AND AIR BOYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

RE: Chapter 920: For Love of Oden
As I said, I'd agree if it weren't for the message he told Nekomamushi to give to Luffy. If Nekomamushi was returning completely empty-handed, then I'd say that Oda's just messing with us, and one way or another Marco would make it there. But he isn't. Also it'd make that whole scene redundant, because then Marco could just deliver it himself. I figure the message is either about the missing Road Poneglyph, or inviting Luffy to come and check out Ace and Whitebeard's graves. Either way, in the end there was value in Nekomamushi succeeding in finding him, so Oda isn't obligated to do anything more than that. Before the Zou arc even ended, Inuarashi did tell them that it'd be unlikely that Marco would help.
We could always meet a new character that would qualify as the pheasant. Or maybe it really is Law given his framing since the alliance was made, I dunno.
Shoot, you're right. I totally forgot about this.
Yeah, with the message it's seeming like Marco may not show up after all. Maybe the Pheasant is just Tengu. We've got the Ninja-Pirate-Mink Alliance and from the Pirate and Mink we have Monkey and Dog, respectively. That'd make Pheasant fall under the "Ninja" part of the alliance which could be anyone from Wano, really.

RE: Chapter 920: For Love of Oden
Well, you could have Den Den Mushi's being native to Wano just in the form of wild snails, the same way they're native to Zou. Wano's people could just have refused to turn them INTO Den Den Mushi's, if they knew how to do so at all.
On the other hand, it's an interesting idea that Kaidou brought Den Den Mushi's with him over 20 years ago whenever he started to make roads into the country. I wonder what else Kaidou's brought with him to Wano.
Thing is, Arlong had set up shop next to Cocoyashi for like what 15 years and pretty much single handedly changed the nature/culture of that island. Kaidou's been a big presence on Wano for AT LEAST 20 years so I really want to know what major influences Kaidou's mere presence has had on the country for that long. What aspects of Wano's culture exist simply because Kaidou has influenced it?
Well, beyond the factories and polluted rivers and shit.
Anyway, I really don't think Aokiji will be the pheasant. Not only because he's seemingly allied with Blackbeard. Kuzan being the pheasant meant to match up with Akainu and Kizaru's dog and monkey. It would be kinda weird if THAT group's obvious pheasant became this group's. I think it would make way, WAY more sense if Marco was the pheasant equivalent. Especially considering Neko recruiting him was a major goal of the Pirate-Ninja-Mink alliance.
Yeah we all know Marco said he wouldn't go, but I don't think Oda would have built up Marco's importance in Zou for nothing.

RE: Chapter 920: For Love of Oden
Everyone who's criticizing the Straw Hats for having emotional reactions to hearing about their friend's parents being murdered really need to re-read Chapter 819.
This is the face of a child who wants desperately to avenge his parents but isn't remotely strong enough to. So he literally begs Luffy for help because at this point he has no one else to turn to that can actually help him.
But you know what else? The Straw Hats aren't just listening to the tale of any man. This is Oden, the man who charmed Roger and Whitebeard. He's SO charismatic he made friends with Roger and Whitebeard at a time when both of them probably hated each other.
The last thing you all are missing is the most important and vital. The Straw Hats aren't just hearing stories about Oden. They're hearing stories about a member of the Roger Pirates. I cannot put into words or stress just how vital this is. Think back to how INTENSE the atmosphere was when we met Rayleigh. It wasn't JUST because Rayleigh was the second-in-command. It's because we haven't SEEN many members of Roger's crew, and EACH and EVERY one of them is a legendary figure in this world both in terms of the lore and the weight they have on the reader. Don't believe me? Tom was executed just for BUILDING their fucking ship. He wasn't even part of the crew!
Case in point, you'd better believe once my boy Scopper Gaban shows up again things are gonna get intense af. The WEIGHT of meeting or even HEARING about a member of the Roger Pirates, dead or alive, is beyond critical. The Roger Pirates and the impact they had on this world is almost what the whole story is framed on, if you think about it. The very first goddamn panel of the entire manga is of Roger!!
These are the faces of people enjoying hearing stories about a member of the fucking Roger Pirates who was PART of the crew when they made it to Raftel. Oden was JUST as integral and as much of a genuine member of the crew as much as Crocus was.
And figuring out more about who that man was as a person, and seeing first hand the warm and fond memories his retainers (THEIR FRIENDS) have for the man.
Nami starts tearing up, sure, but you notice how the panels of Chopper/Brook/Carrot crying are shown AFTER the panels of Kinemon, Kiku, and Momo absolutely breaking down into tears?
TL;DR it's called empathy, people. The fact that the Straw Hats can feel strong empathy for the sorrows of people they care about is what makes them HEROES and the PROTAGONISTS. They didn't JUST meet Momo or Kinemon, they've known them for a while now and we as readers have known them for YEARS.
So yeah, if you think it's questionable that the Straw Hats could have strong reactions to hearing detailed and emotional tales of a former member of the Roger Pirates, while at the same time understanding why he was so beloved on Wano in the first place, then hearing about how he was murdered by the current Pirate they're gunning after, what series have you been reading for the past 900 chapters?
100 chapters ago Luffy already agreed to avenge Momo's parents. Now we're getting the context of why that decision was so impactful to Momo, Kinemon, etc. Luffy didn't need to hear this shit to want to help Momo out, but now we have a much clearer idea of WHY Kaidou murdering Oden is such a big fucking deal.
ARE YOU PEOPLE NOT TAKING YOUR BRAIN MEDICINE? YOU KNOW, THE MEDICINE THAT HELPS YOU THINK?

RE: Chapter 920: For Love of Oden
THE NINTH GUY SENT TO THE FUTURE WAS ZORO'S DAD :^)
Just joking.
Anyway, we know for a fact Inu and Neku were not sent to the future, because Pedro says "they returned after a very long journey, barely clinging to their lives".
To which Wanda mentions she and Pedro were kids at the time, so it's obvious the event that caused them to barely cling to their lives was the 20 years ago attack on Oden Castle.
But hey guys I am confused about this 9th guy. We see in the flashback panel that Momo, Kiku, Kinemon, Raizou, and Kanjuro were sent…but the 9th guy isn't there. Not even silhouetted.
So like, we're getting the number 9 from the 9 scabbards, right? But I mean, I don't see a ninth guy. Unless he just waited out the 20 years or something...
Can someone clarify? Thanks.
EDIT: Also the standard-bearer says the bodies of the 9 sheaths were never found....five are the ones I listed above, who are the other four? They can't possibly be Oden, his wife, and the sister....since Oden and his wife were absolutely killed by Kaidou/Orochi. Unless 2 of the sheaths were actually Inu and Neko, whose bodies were never found because they hightailed the fuck out of Wano, and then the 8th would be Momo's sister...but I guess we just don't know who the 9th is yet?
EDIT EDIT: So I think it's fairly likely Toki is from the Void Century, it's stated that she sent herself forward in time multiple times, before eventually settling down with Oden.
I honestly don't mind the fact that the fruit exists or it was used the way it was. I think it's great that there's a DF that can fling people into the future, and I really like how it's a one-way trip, which is what makes the time travel in this story bearable at all. But I'm worried that, since the fruit is back in circulation, someone's going to eat it or already have consumed it by now and we'll get some more flinging into the future shenanigans.
I mean, with a fruit like this, it's almost impossible for it to just remain a piece of lore, someone's GOT to have eaten this fruit by now or is actively looking for it.

RE: Chapter 919: The Ruins of Oden Castle
So yea some people have pointed out here that in Chapter 819 Pedro mentions that one day Neko and Inu came back from a very long voyage near death, at each other's throats. Apparently they fought so hard they almost killed each other.
Then Wanda mentions she and Pedro were kids at the time. Pretty obvious that this was 20 years ago, and the catalyst for them hating each other and reduced to a state where they were barely clinging onto their lives is obviously Oden castle burning and Oden himself dying.
When we see that flashback properly, I'm sure we'll also see what caused Neko and Inu to hate each other. My guess is that they both blame the other for somehow not protecting Oden or something to that effect.
Speaking of, Inu said he would bring Momo to Wano so he's probably here somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if Neko showed up, possibly with Marco or not, because he's due his revenge on Kaidou just as much as any of the other retainers.
BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE MY MAIN MAN JINBE IS JOINING THIS ARC. YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING SINCE FISHMAN ISLAND BUT IT'S FINALLY TIME. AFTER GIVING US JINBE JOINING BLUE BALLS ON NOT ONE BUT TWO OCCASIONS ODA IS FINALLY GOING TO MAKE HIM JOIN THIS ARC (probably)

RE: Chapter 919: The Ruins of Oden Castle
I'm not buying the stasis/frozen theories. Because apparently they got cornered at the castle, where they were about to be burned alive. Whatever happened seems to have happened suddenly or in the nick of time, as opposed finding a place where they could just remain undetected for the next 20 years.
Well someone said during the brief flashback of the castle being burned that there was a safe place they could run to. Whether this is referring to a temporary safe hiding spot until the attack by Kaidou/Orochi died down, or the actual place that kept them for 20 years, we don't know yet.
HOWEVER, my guess is that Oden and his wife absolutely died before Momo and the rest were sent to the future. I'm guessing this because Momo says his mom was killed personally by Kaidou, so he probably witnessed it. Kinemon and the rest clearly state Oden sacrificed himself to protect them from Kaidou and gave them his final dream probably right before he died.
So like, if it was a Devil Fruit power that sent them to the future, it couldn't have been his parents because he witnessed them die. UNLESS Momo and the rest were sent RIGHT before Kaidou gave the finishing blow to his mom, that WOULD lead Momo to just put 2 and 2 togehter and assumed Kaidou actually finished her off.
I don't know. It seems to me Momo personally witnessed it. There's a flashback of him profusely crying for his mom while the surroundings burn. While that flashback panel could have been at ANYTIME during the raid of the castle, it really seems to me like it was a flashback panel of the exact moment where his mom died.
We'll just have to wait and see.
