Whoever the Vinesmoke family is, I have a feeling that Oda will just exceed our expectations and surprise us.
Chapter 813: An Invitation to the Tea Party
-
-
Expect to be disappointed. Zou still has a bunch of plotlines to solve, like you just said.
You say you don't know how Oda will handle the Samurai and the minks because you apparently convinced yourself he will put them into second plane.
Well, the thing is that they CAN be put in second plane, since somenthing happened to a Mugi and I don't think they are more important topics
-
It looks like Brook knows some stuff about Sanji's family and he seems certain that Sanji won't come back. I wonder what the ties there are? Sanji is my least favorite Straw Hat, but all the hype and current arc have brought make me really want to see him do cool things and like him more.
Also, anyone else want to see Franky Tank Vs. Castle Tank?!?!?!
-
EDIT: Vito has huge Hands. This tells a lot about his genitals! :ninja:
he's known with the monster gun nick by the way
-
And also I think this will not be the last we will see of Bege. I think he will be more important in the future arc focusing on Sanji's marriage to Big Mam's daughter. Overall, Bege has become a character who people dismissed as just one of the lower end Supernovas to one who could compete with Kid in sheer ruthlessness. In some ways Bege could be more dangerous than Kid, because Bege has this "just business" mentality that the mafia shares.
-
Is this the first Sanji punch? Nice set of crew member to do it to.
-
So how many people here have also considered that the chick Sanji is referring to is not Pudding but his Mum, who likely organized this wedding?
-
@le:
! The thing that truly annoyed me was him molesting himself in nami's body. like he claims to be a defender of fair maidens, beautiful girls, old aunties and yada yada yada, the female population in general, but he is molesting HIS CREWMATE'S body even when she was clearly uncomfortable with it. This was when my respect for him dropped a long way. That is blatant disrespect towards to your fellow crewmate who was adventuring with you since east blue, and you still claim to be a defender.
you are so right and i'm terribly ashamed to say that, fact is, i would have done the same
-
Good Sanji chapter. It's been a while since he's executed a plan- this one required deducting that Capone couldn't hurt him, sensing Nekomamushi via CoO Haki, and bluffing to kill Caesar. The one problem I have is that Capone apparently doesn't have full control over whether people can leave his body of their own accord.
Does anyone know which Blues the New World is between? If it's East and South Blue, that would imply that Sanji has passed through Mariejois before, or has been over the Red Line in some previously unmentioned fashion. The alternative is that he's been over Reverse Mountain before, which seems unlikely given his reactions to the place.
@KageKageKing:! Hissssss

Damn, that One Piece hype !
" Oh, i know that but I won't tell you ! "
That's nice, and I know we can't have everything in one scan but still.. !!The way bege " walks " cracks me up, don't know why but I think at least half of his charisma just fly away with this ! x)
And then, it works so well !Can't wait to see what's happening next !
I was thinking his walk cracked me up too.
Part gangster Swagger, and part being a castle holding so much crap. I don't think we'll ever see him run, maybe physically he cant.

You don't know what fodder is.

I was thinking the same. It's hard to tell because he obviously was playing down the whole thing for the crew, but he sounded like he knew the person he said he was going to meet - also, Sanji said he was going there to "put an end to it". Meeting the bride probably wouldn't solve anything, it's his family that he needs to face.
-
Someone who is capable of "changing" a wanted poster like that, is really someone important. I'm my theorie is that One of the five stars is Sanji father.
SANJI FATHER!

I agree with those of us who think Oda may wrap up the Zou arc faster than usual, but I also don't think it'll be so cut and dry. I mean it's not like we haven't had a crewmate elsewhere while the crew was stationed at a different location before. Like when Sanji himself was being recruited by Luffy, he and Sanji were dealing with Don Kreig, while Ussop and Zoro went to see what happened with Nami.
Likewise the Dressrosa arc was similar. By the same token , with all the exciting premises Oda set up with Sanji's Family, Big Mom and Jinbe's pending recruitment, I don't see how whatever they still have to do on Zou (Jack is gone and probably beat up from fighting The Marines) wont seem like a drag or a waste of time by comparison.
Especially since an SH being in trouble will instantly put Kaido and his crew on the backburner anyway, at least that's how I see it.
-

I personally don't believe that (it would require a very reasonable explanation on why he would want his son to marry the daughter of a Yonkou), but i'd really like it, as the Gorousei guys getting exposition would be most welcome. Maybe he is not a Vinsmoke anymore but was once married to the family, giving them a link to the WG? Who knows.
-
Still not 100% on board for the Vinsmokes being a Mafia family, but there are a couple of pointers in that direction. Way back in Alabasta 'Mr. Prince' scoped out how Crocodile's organization were operating and knew how to both step back and manipulate it, when everybody else ran straight into a trap. That could be taken as an intimate knowledge of how such things work.
There's a pointer to a high-level WG connection, too, all the way back at Einnes Lobby; while the others fought to escape Sanji broke away and went to secure the lever that would allow their ship to escape. At the time we thought it was because on the Crew IQ scale Sanji is capable of better strategic thinking and the existence seemed logical. But, again, what if it was something he already had prior knowledge of? Perhaps something he'd visited as a child or overheard.
It's reasonable to think it would be something a high level official would discuss.I guessed one of the reasons for the wedding may be a young girl infatuated with his poster but it'll be funny if she sees him now and decides that compared to his Wanted poster he's not what she really wanted.
The other interesting character note for me was Brook recognizing the Vinsmoke name. Something he knew of over 50 years ago as a young pirate? Something connected with why he went from knight to criminal?
Or could it be linked to his recent world tour? That hasn't really been brought into play much yet. -

Hr might NOT want it. The wedding could easily just be Big Mom taking advantage of the situation
-
I'm more interested and the 2 other kids of Vinsmoke… And of course about the 35th daughter. What are the other 34?
-
Just to be devil's advocate…
Two characters do not have to same hair color to be related (Sanji's blond and so happens to be a blond Gorosei= they are related theory). Heck Sanji could have the opposite hair color as his father, just like Usopp's hair is black but Yasopp is blond.... and remember Sanji's beard is black, not blond and that Gorosie has a blond beard! :ninja:

it's just the usual for the one piece fanbase..everyone that has something in common is related…being that the color of their hair,a freaking ponytail or whatever
-
great chapter, sanji's badass and capone is cold blooded as usual. zou is very pleasing till now
-
Awesome chapter. From start to finish.
About what's going to happen next, I'm expecting Luffy's (and Zoro's) reaction to remain the same : trust Sanji's promise and that he's strong enough to handle his problem.
But then, they will learn something terrible from Brook (past) and Law (present) about the Vinsmoke family that will make them decide to go to the Tea Party to help (not rescue) Sanji with Pekoms as their guide.
I'm expecting Law to decide a new meeting place with Luffy (maybe Wano ?) and go there with his crew first. Btw, I wonder if we will learn what did he say to his crew before parting with them.
Anyway, as for the samurai, I don't think they will come to the Tea Party and they will follow Law. -

Well, they also both wear suits, have slim figure and same type of goatee beard thing. But yes, that's based on looks, that's it. I guess Corazon looks more like Sanji then blonde gorosei.

For me, its a good strategie from the Gorosei to take out one of his members by doing that. They are playing the cards now because of what happened to Doflamingo and the balance of powers. The best way to destroy a difficul enemy, is to divide the crew one by one.
That's why im sure he's Sanji father. -
Also the latest glimpse at Big Mam shows she is actually close to her original outline when described by Garp. I do think she will be a major antagonist and will get her own arc.
-
Hr might NOT want it. The wedding could easily just be Big Mom taking advantage of the situation
Yeah, but why would he just accept a deal like that? That's where we would need an explanation.
Besides, Sanji says he is aware the person arranging the wedding and responsible for his new bounty poster is the same, which implies this isn't coming from Big Mom, at least not by herself. The Vinsmoke party seems very interested, they're definitely not an average family being threatened into a marriage. Thus my theory that, in this scenario, he could be Sanji's father but not a Vinsmoke, and his mother is the one behind everything.
-
Well, the thing is that they CAN be put in second plane, since somenthing happened to a Mugi and I don't think they are more important topics
Yeah, because the last arc totally didn't put half of the Straw Hats in second plane for 70 chapters.
Oh, wait…
-
Well, Oda has certainly got many people speculating and asking so many questions. I think by the end of this year we will see Sanji in a new light like never before.
-
Yeah, because the last arc totally didn't put half of the Straw Hats in second plane for 70 chapters.
Oh, wait…
So Oda says this will be the year of Sanji, that we'll find about his origins and etc, and then 2 chapters in he puts him in the background AGAIN? lol
I really don't think that's happening…and there's not much exciting stuff going on in Zou since Jack isn't there anymore.
-
I believe Zou will wrap up soon but the Minks will show up later (as they live in a moving island) and we'll learn more about the Void century through the elephant. But I don't think Oda will lengthen it now since 1) he said it'll be Sanji's year (and knowing his pacing + breaks, I doubt he'll properly develop Zou's arc without eventually having to postpone the whole revelation behind Sanji's family and past) 2) the main villain is gone and is probably not in shape to wreck havoc once more + there's nothing else to do on this island except meeting a bunch of people and finding Raizo and 3) Pekoms maybe he's still here and might lead the SHs to the Wholecake Island.
That's not wrapping up if not all plotlines aren't solved.
Stuff that still needs to be solved:
1 - Raizou.
2 - Momonosuke stopping being a recluse.
3 - Pekoms.
4 - What is being protected at Whale Forest.
5 - Why Inuarashi and Nekomamushi despise each other now, and how will they make up.
6 - Why Inuarashi and Nekomamushi are so important to the world according to Pedro.
7 - Who pushed Bariete out of the elephant.
8 - What happened to the other 2 Inuarashi Musketeers.
9 - Kin'emon and Kanjuro, who will be in Zou only in the next morning.
10 - Why Jack thought Raizou was in Zou. -
Yea, OP arcs usually take a year. Hard to view this as Sanji's year if we're on Zou the entire time instead of at the forefront of his conflict.
-
Repeated some stuff that anyone with a good memory would know…and finished the set up for how Sanji left. All in all a necessary evil to get the plot going but hopefully next week we can finally be done with these flashbacks and can actually get the story started again.
Also I noticed that a second time, Mangapanda has been first. Why is this happening, I thought the person(s) Helping them be early was arrested?
-

Sanji can still have a few chapters dedicated to him in the year.
We get around 38-39 chapters a year. A bunch of stuff can happen during it.
2 chapters were already dedicated to Sanji. Have 20 or so chapters dedicated to Zou, and the rest of the year to Sanji.
-
I think people are taking the "year of sanji" too literally. It doesn't mean the whole year will focus on him or even that the arc will revolve around him. We are just going to learn his history and he will get some time to shine since he was absent for a while. Otherwise it will be business as usual.
-

-

I believe he already put that in his equation considering the usual number of weekly chapter a manga have is 44-45.
-
Well, kind of an uneventful chapter with lots of exposition, but at the same time it still doesn't explain anything.
Brook knows the Vinsmoke family. Couldn't he say more about that? But I guess next chapter will exactly be that: Luffy will be asking "Who is the Vinsmoke family" and brook will answer it.
Also: now I see, why capone leads the firetank pirates XD

The Wizard of Oz theme seems to be a real possibility.
Dorothy: Sanji (Flame Leg, No place like home)
Toto: Chopper (Small, Transform to four legs)
Scarecrow: Luffy (Strawhat, Needs a brain )
Tin Man: Franky (Cyborg, Needs a heart…cola?)
Cowardly Lion: Pekoms (Afraid of Big Mom)
Wicked Witch of the East: ?
Wicked Witch of the West: Big Mom
Wizard of Oz: Ceasar Clown (He owes Big Mom)
Glenda South Witch: Sanji's Mom
Good Witch of the North: ?
Munchkins: ?Alternatives
Dorothy: Nami
Toto: Wanda
Scarecrow: Basil Hawkins
Tin Man: Mr. 1; Wapol (sick heart)
Cowardly Lion: Sicilian; Rob Lucci
Wicked Witch of the West: Pudding
Wizard of Oz: Vegapunk(alluded in Punk Hazard) -
Theory:
Sanji is either the son or brother of the Blond Gorosei. The Blond Gorosei was at one point in the North Blue (Perhaps as a king or so) and was promoted (or invited) to the position of Gorosei possibly upon the death of a previous Gorosei. When the Blond Gorosei traveled to Mariejois, Sanji went with him and used this opportunity to flee to the East Blue; thus beginning his story there.Since Sanji’s bounty reveal, the Blond Gorosei is using Sanji as a bartering Chip with Big Mom. In turn for marrying Sanji to her daughter, Big Mom and crew must work with the World Government to bring down Blackbeard.
We know the balance of the world is changing. Having the opportunity to makes ties with a Yonko could be a huge asset for the World Government and could help them maintain their power.

Wonder what zeff's adventure in the grand line consisted of. How he met Sanji etc. He might have been the one to get him across the red line to east blue to Protect sanji

Anyone else thinks Vito's guns are Zoans Weapons?

Ah the classic. "I'm smiling to let you know I am OK, but I am well aware I am probably not coming back, so you'll have to rescue me" smile.
Solid chap regardless.

So an interesting post I saw on tumblr about one of Sanji's lines:
http://yuushishio.tumblr.com/post/137763939372/ill-definitely-be-there-come-back-send-my
Japanese RAW of Sanji words:Sanji: 必ず 戻る, あいつらに よろしく 伝えてくれ。 (kanarazu modo, aitsura ni yoroshiku tsutaetekure.)
raw translation: definitely meet again, (help me/do it for me as verb grammar here)transmit/tell those guys (those guys is Luffy and others because the pre page Nami said ‘let’s wait for Luffy together’) yoroshiku.
yoroshiku (よろしく) in Japanese doesn’t mean hi/hello as you can read the translation of Magapanda or Mangastream. This expression more in mean of regard/thankful.
Japanese used to say ‘yoroshiku onegaishimasu’ ( よろしくお願いします) after the first meet with someone and its nearest meaning is “nice to meet you/ please to meet you/I’m in your help from now.”
So the meaning in Sanji words is more right in that post of @beif0ngs : regards.
It was Sanji saying to them, that they would meet again and he send regards/thankful to Luffy (for the time of them being together??) or I have to say meaning in his line more to a …‘goodbye, thanks for take care of me all this time, definitely we will meet again.’
That’s why, THAT’s WHY Brook said in tears that he got the feeling of Sanji won’t come back to them.I was wondering why Brook seemed so sure of Sanji's intentions, but this clears that up.
-
Pretty sure Brook was just referring to the fact that Sanji was adamant in pursuing his "mission" and would not accept anyone taking him back until he's dealt with it.
My perspective on it anyways.
