Yeah! But with Paw Paw you need to send those Poneglyphs one by one. Shambles and Room can tackle those pretty instanteneously.

I am sorry if this was asked before;
When Shank, Yamato talked about Roger and Luffy's similar dream or Luffy said something similar to Roger, they were talking about Luffy's end of dream right?
Not about being the Pirate King because from Oden's flashback it looks like Roger was the 1st one in a long while if not the 1st
One in history. So, did this mean that Roger managed to reach Laughtale and found OP but failed to achieve his end dream?
If this was the case, I wonder if this was the stuff that Shank asked Roger when Roger returned from Laughtale and Shank cried at that time.
Is this why Shank bet his arm for Luffy because Luffy reignites something in him and makes him bet his arm for Luffy?
Maybe thats why Shank became an emperor some years after he met with Luffy..

Hey. Just a reassurance that the man is fine and in good spirits. Sending get well letters to the SBS/Usopp Gallery address would be appreciated I'm sure.
-
Thanks for letting us know! I'll definitely look into sending a digital card. Would you mind sharing the address here, since it's public knowledge?
-
Greg what are you more excited for, Final Fantasy 7 rebirth or Final Fantasy 16?
Edit: Also tell Oda I’m praying for a good recovery, I wish him the best and to take care of himself!

Have you ever tried XIV, Greg?
-
God, I loved XIV for the six months I played it last year, but it sort of became a chore afterwards.
-
I’ve literally never played an MMO, the gameplay never seemed that exciting to me, maybe I’ll have to try it sometime
-
New article is out
Greg what percentage would you say there is that Aokiji doesn’t betray the Black Beard Pirates and does face off against a straw hat at the end?
Very low I’m assuming

Well....that was a completely non-eventful weekend that didn't culminate in the sharing of 6 years of silent effort.
8k hrs and had some world top rankings.

I was thinking about the relationship of Kaido and the men who he admires, he wants to have a good death like Roger and whitebeard, but not Rox?
What was so different about Rox that even toxic Darwinist Kaido can’t spin into “such a manly MAN, I want to be him, grrrrr”, so I doubt it was a personal betrayal. I have the strong feeling that Rox getting beaten but not dying on gods valley incident, and he was the main reason on why Blackbeard had to get to the depths of Impel down, is the reason that Kaido doesn’t list him on the great deaths of the pirate ages, either didn’t die, or he did die after a kind of beating that not even the greatest fanboy couldn’t just explain away.
I personally haven’t ever liked the notion of he just went to get his crew complete, he went for the knowledge on what kind of fruit the quake fruit needed to quickly steal it and some other questions.
-
I'm guessing a lot of the vitriol Kaido had for the Super Rookies came from Xebec doing the same thing to him.
-
Also, precisely on the wiki, the people who Kaido thinks when facing Luffy, roger and whitebeard, his idols, Oden, his man crush who he murdered but failed to kill, having a more glorious death and outliving him somehow, shanks, the man who denied him access to the summit war (now with shanks connections and more pragmatic view, he might have been saving the marines all along), and rox, so either an inglorious death or he thinks he’s alive.
Again, impel down for these 4 folks and a shiryu, the maths don’t add up for me without a secret or 3.

Greg what was your thoughts on Sir Crocodile’s new bounty? And it being even higher than Luffy’s bounty when was unofficially called the fifth Emporor
Were you shocked?

Regarding your new article, are you implying Lily's body is in Mary Geois( like in flower room) or someone possessing her body(like personality switch)?
-
Ah, good question.
I'm suggesting that she might not have 'lived' there but that's possibly because she 'died' there.
If she had the Op Op Fruit and was coerced or forced to perform the eternal life operation, it's possible she literally died there.
-
Greg, I’m curious, do really think the Ope Ope fruit explains Imu’s immortality (assuming the character is from 800 years ago)? I mention this because the book that Ivankov points to, when discussing a possibility the Saint Imu from the past and the one present in chapter 1086, has the words “Genes” on the cover and doesn’t look like the Devil Fruit Encolypedia that Sanji looks at back in chapter 840. That just suggests a more science-based explanation than a devil fruit-based one, perhaps even tech connected to the ancient kingdom. We are after all on a science centeric island all about replicating that know-how.
-
Or maybe the book had the word “Genesis” and has a more religious explanation for how the current world was created.
-
Where can I read Greg's articles?
-
@trollatron786
On the official One Piece website, Greg has his own corner.
The articles are published in English and Japanese, once you are on an article you can toggle between the languages. -
@Bugs Yet another interesting question!
If the DF's are just the results of ppl's 'dreams' and normal ppl wanted to be able to overpower a race that had literal inherent superpowers, it stands to reason that the DFs may have been developed as a means for normal people to quell and overcome Lunarians and/or people like them.
I do believe that they may have been searching for a legitimate medical way to alter genes, but if that period coincided with the advent/invention of DFs, then it's possible that same earnest research culminated in the Op Op Fruit.
In fact, it's possible that they may not even have known the side-effect if it was the first use and Lily's death could have been unexpected, at least on Imu's end.
-
@Greg On the subject of Devil Fruits being the incarnation of people's dreams, I have found the ability of the Yami-Yami no Mi to totally nullify other DF's to be very interesting. Since Teach says it is the most "evil" Devil Fruit.

From that prism it could be that the Yami Yami no Mi was born from a human that sided with the Lunarians.
It would be evil because it existed to depower its fellow man.
-
Greg Oda seems to be making the rounds of all the super powers in the world these last few chapters, any other characters/groups we haven’t seen yet that you think he might show us soon?
-
@Johnny-B-Decent iirc that statement wasn't about 'good' vs 'evil' so much as he meant that it's a nightmare/undesirable for DF users. 最悪 doesn't necessarily/usually have anything to do with evil so much as it's a catchall meaning 'the worst'.
Same term used for the 'worst generation'.
That is of course if it's the line I'm thinking of (^○^)

Blackbeard says 最も凶悪 rather than 最悪 when talking to Ace.
-
What does that mean?
-
Hey Greg, you mentioned in the article that the author cannot fool his audience anymore. What do you mean by that?
-
@Johnny-B-Decent said in Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !:
What does that mean?
As far as I know, it does mean "most evil", unlike the term used for the Worst Generation.
-
Thanks Jacker!
There's def a slightly diff implication but I still think it's a term with fluidity. That term in particular can indeed mean literal evil. But it can also be an (even stronger) way of saying it's 'bad news' for someone ie worst nightmare etc.
Have to wait and see!
-
I don't think I wrote that at all, did I?
I believe what I wrote was, 'Oda is unlikely to mislead his readers with that information'.
Meaning, it's not likely that he'd attempt to lie/misdirect there.
-
OK my bad, I just misinterpreted it
-
@auem said in Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !:
Greg,
Since you believe that Lily was user of Ope Ope, do you think she used her 'room' to scatter all the poneglyphs around the world/Grand Line ? It would be such a easy and elegant solution...Considering all the crazy fruit powers everywhere Nd how WG doesnt wa t people to learn stuff it is almost absurd that in 800 years WG didnt make sure Road P. At the very least cant be read. Its not like Big Mim had hers for 800 years. Likewise Kaido etc
-
Wano has like 5 layers of protection, zou has been impossible to attack until Kanjuro betrayed them, and even then they didn’t even know that the phoneglyph was there, just raizo and momo, the fishman island is the odd one out; but considering the location, if anyone who they didn’t want to know ever found it it was just a “catastrophic descompression” away from removing all evidence, and considering how praline controls the survey slugs I wouldn’t underestimate a similar lockdown of undersea snail comms to avoid just that.
The one that was relatively exposed was big moms, and we don’t know where that one was before. Probably gods valley either in their hands originally, or right under their noses, easy to be either, where they felt safe or where they would never look.
The strongest knowledge based power we have seen, has been the looking fruit of Viola, and that seems to be limited to one island. Meaning that whomever gets the mission to find the phoneglyphs would have to travel to all the worlds islands, and do the perimeter sweep for the area of the fruit. No way to locate zou, wano might as well be completely out of the range of the fruit, and depending on how the user can see stuff not even locate the tunel, good luck setting foot in whole cake, and wasn’t the park in the actual sea floor instead of the island?
Idunno the world is big enough, and in 800 years only one person has managed to get the info, and they needed toki, Oden and who knows what else to pull it off, the original measures seemed safe enough. It is the unraveling caused by roger that they have failed to contain.
-
It worked for nearly 800 years and any effort on covering it up raises suspicion, it was the unraveling after roger, of actual cover ups instead of complete ignorance, that have had the cascade effect.
-
Hey @Greg , I realize I probably thought about this more than Oda ever did but in chapter 203 Kobra says this:
Let's just say we are nice and assume that Lily was the first ruler of the Nefertari family. Her brother took over after her disappearance, making him the second ruler since the Void Century. Kobra is the 12th, so that means we got an average length of rule of 800/11= 72.72 years. And we know Alabasta as a Kingdom is way older than this (3000 years if I remember correctly) so.. there had to have been different dynasties before the Nefertaris just like in old Egypt, right? Because even with this very generous estimate we end up with ruling averages that make even British monarchs blush.
Vicky D. Nefertari and Lizzy D. Nefertari are just a few examples of this very longlived house - do you think you can shed some light on this? I am actually tempted to write an SBS question for this, just to see if Oda can quickly come up with a few joke dynasties that preceeded the Nefertaris on the spot - if I manage to find someone to properly translate this question, that is :)
-
-
That's an interesting question.
Yeah! I mean, if some of the town names are any indication, they'll probably end up sounding like Lunarian rulers but your logic is solid that over that span, yes, other families could have ruled unless I'm forgetting some bit of dialogue.
-
Greg do you think the final battle with the Black Beard Pirates will happen on a single Island or will it take place on islands all over the world?
Also I still have no idea what Vasco Shot’s power does, he can drink alcohol and spit it back as fire seems really lame, hell he might cause the flame without the power, which means his ability is just to drink alcohol and spit it back, there’s got to be more to this than that right? Please god say yes, I mean plenty of characters have the ability to make fire, without devil fruits… for Christ sakes Pearl could do that

@Greg did kuzan use conquers haki when he punched Garp in chapter 1087? it's kinda confusing to tell what's going on in their clash
-
Also does Garp even have conquers haki this whole black lightning thing is super confusing
-
@Sun-D I'd say it's pretty clear he has it after the Galaxy Impact attack in chapter 1080.
-
My humble suggestion to when someone is using COC Infusion? Their infusion turns a different color. Like a glowing white.
-
If I am not mistaken the manga always states clearly the persons who have conquer haki, so if it is not stated that this person have conquer haki why assume that they do have it.
-
@Sun-D said in Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !:

He does have the big lightning streams that other CoC users have shown.
When used alone, CoA only has some small electricity at best.
-
Another week another question about conquers haki, did Koby use conquers haki when he used honesty impact?
-
I believe at this point black lightning should be associated with conquer haki. Wano gave us plenty of hints.
-
@auem I agree. The only instance that I've seen of it that I don't think is CoC is Sanji's kick on Oven, which could be an Oda mistake or foreshadowing.
