It's a fun time we live in, where purely rational thoughts get labeled as paranoia.
Indecision 2016 - In Soviet Russia, we elect american president!

It's a fun time we live in, where purely rational thoughts get labeled as paranoia.
One of the few things all sides actually agree on.
Now if only they could agree on who's being paranoid and who's just being rational.
-
People on the right are, but there are definitely a lot more people on the left concerned about Russia than there were five or ten years ago.
Weird, right? It's almost as if Russia has really ramped up the aggression during that period and been assisted with it by the actions of American news media and certain politicians.
-

I can't really argue there.
-

It's a problem of false equivalency. It's not hard to see which side is right when you also notice that one of the sides is extremely old and/or poorly educated.

I've thought about why that is a lot lately…
With the rise of Youtube, any unintelligible shouting idiot can be made as famous as (or more famous than) a politician or major political figure. As a result, we get a lot of clipshow commentary types with armies of fans who send them short videos or news stories about how awful x person is, with an addendum about how that applies to a far larger group (providing confirmation bias about how awful that group is).
Occasionally members of those groups will intentionally volunteer themselves as a bad example,
I can't think of an easy way to fix this.
-
People on the right are, but there are definitely a lot more people on the left concerned about Russia than there were five or ten years ago.
Five or ten years ago is before 2014 when the first military annexation since Kuwait with Saddam occurred. And the first not immediately reversed annexation since the end of the Vietnam War.
No big deal or anything.
And that's not a left/right issue. The American spectrum was united in hostility toward Russia's recent behaviour, even if not united in how to respond.
Until Trump and the alt-right came along, and associated authoritarian elements. -
Exhibit A:
-
It's a problem of false equivalency. It's not hard to see which side is right when you also notice that one of the sides is extremely old and/or poorly educated.
T'was just a silly observation on how two entirely different groups view themselves in a similar light.
-
Exhibit A:
I watched 5 seconds of that video and already I'm having to look stuff up. Is it bad that I didn't know who the Bilderberg Group was?
Edit: Nazis what?
Edit2: I could totally believe that Alex Jones' agent pays people to threaten him for the sake of the show. >.>
-
I watched 5 seconds of that video and already I'm having to look stuff up. Is it bad that I didn't know who the Bilderberg Group was?
It's just one of those secret societies that dinks think rule the world.
There is nothing of value down that particular rabbit hole
-
It's more perplexing how the left now has a superboner for a kleptocratic oligarchy ruled by a strongman.
-
Watch it through to the end to see just how crazy this man is.

The fact that the studio didn't have him forcibly restrained tells me that his anger was all an act.

I'm more inclined to think that the anger is real (and crazy), but that the crying is fabricated.

Popular theory tells that Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Mark Levin, Matt Drudge, et. al, are all "actors" acting to rile up the ignorant with angry conservative rhetoric…and make lots of money while doing it. There's no evidence that they suddenly turn into kind, sane people once they leave the recording studio, but who knows, really.
-
Sean Hannity is a genuinely stupid schmuck. I'm pretty sure of that one.

Truly insane people tend to switch from one extreme to another repeatedly, not unlike what Trump has done. We at least know that they're stable enough to show up to work at the same job every morning for decades.
I can believe that Sean Hannity's beliefs don't seriously affect his mental health, but I don't believe Alex Jones could maintain that level of hate without completely losing control of his life.
-
Alex Jones off-air is exactly how he is while on-air.
-
Anti-establishment president of the working class offers key economic post to president of Goldman Sachs.
Also he's still fine with concentration camps.

@Cyan:

Fat and full of shit?

One of the weirder stories this cycle for me was Glenn Beck actually developing some semblance of morality in the face of the alt-right has done to the right.

Clinton Voters 92% Yes
Stein Voters 83% Yes
Johnson Voter 62% Yes
Trump Voters 23% Yes 59% NoHere's why I'm perfectly comfortable referring to Trump Voters as racist morons. It's because they're racist morons. And they're proud of being racist morons. And they are beside themselves with glee that they, the racist-moron minority, now control political discourse in the US. They love being morons, they love being racist, they hate education, they hate inclusiveness, and they love the racist demagogue that put them at the front of the national stage.
They hate Barack Obama, they believe the stock market has dropped during his presidency, they believe unemployment has risen during his presidency, they believe that George Soros has paid people to protest against Trump, they believe that millions of people voted for Clinton illegally, and a significant portion of them think that votes from California shouldn't even be counted.
Meanwhile, Trump, the hero of the working class, has smeared a union leader who dared to speak the truth about him, and proposed a head of the Labor Department who hates the minimum wage and wants to replace workers with robots.
Yep, "racist morons" sums it up just fine.

I love me some MSNBC hosts. I just wanna adopt them all, especially Rachel and Steve Kornacky <3 -
Pretty sure Robby just screwed up the tags and those are his own thoughts.

Also it sure is weird how obsessed the right is with George Soros. Almost like they have something against him on a personal level.

Oh. Lol.
Well good post, Robby! Haha

It probably has something to do with this, too. The leap from "a few people on the project are political" to "they're reshooting it to be anti-Trump propaganda" is vast though.

They are the thoughts of someone off my facebook. I completely agree with them, but they are not word for word my own.
Also, the president elect says, again, that the minimum wage is TOO HIGH.
Yeah, he's gonna be greeeat for those middle class workers.
-
Hey what happened to that chick with the Trump/Farage avatar who popped in the day after election, all aglow about the wonders of populism and economic benefits to the common folk?
Strange, so mysterious how these people just vanish. -
Remember when Bernie or Busters refused to vote Hillary because $12 minimum wage was too low?
-

Can we skip Trump and move on to Pence already?

I never agreed to the idea that the media helped voted Trump by promoting a false equivalency. The reason being Trump was not hiding. The false equivalency works perfectly for the traditional politician that covers his most outrageous under mountains of well polished discourse to make it seems more acceptable. So yes in those cases it easy for the worst of the 2 parties to appear to be the same as the moderate one since they sound alike and the media isn't invested in destroying one.
But on freaking trump I don't agree and will never do. The media didn't hide who he was. That's what was selling ticket to the Trump show. When asked about if someone was unable to do the job due to his race he said yes and the freaking republican speaker had to described Trump's word as textbook racism, he referenced to his Kelly's menstruation live and that story was around for a while, He got a videotape with his controversial words that had the republicans trying to jump ship. It is a man that in his announcement managed to have as an headline that Mexicans are rapist and bring drugs.
He didn't get spared by the media hiding his dark secrets. One because his dark secrets are the selling points, secondly because Donald was the one so adamant to show a good chunk of it.
What happened was: He showed to that interview he heard so much about, whip his dick out, piss on the desk, shit on floor, told the interviewers (the american people) that if he piss and defecate at home there's no reason he can't do it here, and asked them to not mind his manner and give him the goddamn job already because they know he's awesome. The interviewers looked at absence of resume, gave a quick glance at the shit and piss and said " You know what, I liked someone who think outside the box. Welcome to the company."
! @Robby:
! > TRUMP FAVORIBILITY
All Voters
43% favorable, 51% unfavorable
Trump Voters
87% favorable 5% unfavorable
! Both candidate weren't really liked so no surprise there. What is the usual average for a president elect?
! > OBAMA APPROVAL
All Voters
50% favorable, 45% unfavorable
Trump Voters
5% favorable 90% unfavorable
! I think it is no surprise that those that voted against Hillary are no Big fan of Obama. Although I think it does point to not that many people voting for Trump because they didn't get Bernie or hate Hillary specifically since I would expect them to be favorable to Obama.
! No more contrast?
! > TRUMP VOTER ON IF THE STOCK MARKET IS DOWN UNDER OBAMA
39% think it is
It's actually more than tripled under Obama
! At least a majority knows the truth. Stock market is the kind of thing I would imagine people just go with guts feeling on how it's doing(due to not participating in it).
! > TRUMP VOTERS ON IF UNEMPLOYMENT RAISED UNDER OBAMA
67% think it increased, 20% think it decreased
It is actually down to historic lows
! Really? I'm not surprise a lot are uninformed on the subject but the percentage that actually knows the truth is scarily low. I mean it's one thing to think Obama is bad it's another to straight up not have that little piece of information. It's freaking economics. The thing people like to talk about aside from terrorism.
! It reminds those statistics about Colbert's old show audience being more informed about how politics work than with the news.
! > TRUMP VOTERS ON WHO WON THE POPULAR VOTE
49% Clinton, 40% Trump 11% unsure
! Considering they voted and won they probably don't care for the specifics. Especially since they expected to lose.
! > TRUMP VOTERS ON WHETHER MILLIONS VOTED ILLEGALLY FOR CLINTON
60% Yes 18% No 22% Unsure
! That's some crazy number of people that believe so. I mean you have to believe the system is shit to think so. I'm sure some of those are thinking thousands in many state but that's really bleak view to have on the system. Even Republican politicians try to avoid such narrative and that's saying something considering how far they are willing to go.
! > TRUMP VOTERS ON IF SOROS IS PAYING PROTESTORS
73% Yes 6% No
! I vaguely remember something on someone possibly sending people to Trump rallies to get them riled up. I'm not surprise it makes one side paranoid.
! > TRUMP VOTERS ON WHETHER CALIFORNIA SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE POPULAR VOTE
53% Yes 29% No
! We are talking about a total ban of the Californian vote? Or is it more of a California has so much people it screw the perspective when analyzing the result?
! The last one is basically the electoral college but the former is madness. AKA More state voted Trump than Clinton and to let the individual states also have a voice is important(and California has a good number of electoral votes). I mean total exclusion of a state in the election would be crazy.
! > SHOULD TRUMP RELEASE HIS TAX RETURNS
Clinton Voters 92% Yes
Stein Voters 83% Yes
Johnson Voter 62% Yes
Trump Voters 23% Yes 59% No
! Well the process is usually to know who you are voting for. They already won, it is no surprise they aren't really interested in it. -
It doesn't sound like you actually understand what the problem was desa. Trump wasn't hiding, and by all means anyone paying attention should have been appalled. But that puts too much faith in people, and what they were looking for. The issue being pointed out about the media is more that for every outrageous thing Trump said or did that got reported on, it came along with another report or mention of the various negative claims about Hillary. And that makes a difference because people with no ability to judge character or moral compass (which is apparently nearly half the country) will see that and think they are equally qualified (or equally unqualified).
-
Or unequally, considering how most people are probably biased against thinking that women are well suited for leadership.
-
The head of CNN genuinely said, in hindsight, that CNN shouldn't have devoted so much airtime to Trump's foul bloviating. Like showing the entirety of his rally speeches riling up the dumbfucks.
They gave him so much coverage that there was little time set aside for policy questions and other…y'know, stuff that matters. MSM also never had the balls to stick it to him whenever they got a shot at an "exclusive" interview. Nothing about the [child] rape charges, or pressing him for his tax returns, or mentioning his many filings for bankruptcy. Just softball garbage, + the usual "He said something outrageous today!" stuff which, as we all know, his base ate up anyway.Plus, as Foolio explained, the inane, incomprehensible tendency towards "SAME THING BOTH SIDES" led to egregiously unnecessary coverage of Hillary non-scandals. Like that time she coughed, once. We had the most uniquely qualified woman up against the most utterly unqualified man, which doesn't make much of a horserace or spectacle without weird attempts to level the playing field. And aren't we so glad they did.
-
It's infuriating to look back on all of those exclusive interviews where the reporters allow themselves to be talked over, then don't press the important issues after a single mention. Instead, they'd just change the topic, and it made it look like they let him take the upper hand in the "discussion".

Newest cabinet pick:
Cathy McMorris Rodgers for Secretary of Interior.
Hardcore climate denier, fossil fuel advocate, seal clubber, stealer of candy from babies.
Par for the course. You may remember her as "that lady always standing near John Boehner":

It's not incompetence… it's corruption, through and through. He'll be the most corrupt president ever if he actually takes office.
I mean, it's hard to deny it. The guy's talented. He worked the electorate by giving them what they wanted; infotainment. And now, we're in for one hell of a ride.

The best way this can turn out is for his presidency to crumble in scandals within the first two years.
