Good time to bring this up:
Legendary fights.
What makes a memorable, legendary fight? The brutality? The motivations behind the fight? The strategy? The sparks flying psychologically or from dialogue between the punches?
I think it can be a lot of things, but I don't think this fight is legendary yet, like, say, Luffy VS Enel, or Kurapika VS Uvogin (Hunter X Hunter), or Spike VS Vicious (Cowboy Bebop). This should by all means end up as a legendary battle, at least for the series.
What are we missing here? Gear 4 elevated the fight from great to greater in my opinion, but it's still not quite legendary status. What needs to happen here? Just a clothing change for the flamingo? I'm gonna need a little more than that. If it's already legendary for you, then that's all well and good.
For me there will have to be a lot at stake. In the Lucci fight if Luffy didn't win Lucci would have killed his entire crew and let his then newest nakama down. Also, everyone loves an underdog, someone who's punching above their weight and surprises everyone with determination and willpower (not talking about haki lol). Flashy moves and well choreographed fights wouldn't go amiss. I would prefer the fights to be 1v1 though, outside interference always leaves the reader wondering if that weighed in heavily on the fight.

Once the whole battle has been collected so that it can be read in one sitting and all the different facets taken into account people's opinions may change.

I really can't tell sometimes if a complaint is genuine or sarcastic.
A portion of the gladiators will be fighting Doflamingo. Another portion of the gladiators, including Gatz, will be protecting Luffy, if push comes to shove. Sabo's beef is with Jesus only. Sabo's not fighting Doflamingo.
Naming the chapter Gatz is appropriate.

Think it's unlikely they'll hold him off for more than a few minutes.
Then Fujitora, the rest of the Straw Hats and every fighter fleeing towards the centre of Birdcage will hold him off for the remainder of the time.Who knows, maybe even Rebecca will do something $#@&%*@# useful.

So people hate sabo bc he's a strong good guy? I honestly think people just complain just to complain. It would make absolutely no sense for luffy to take on Mingo and burgess. The dude was an incredibly strong child and in the OP world it is very plausible he survived an explosion. And then people don't like how he was introduced? Same way ace was in alabasta? By just showing up. And then Omg he surprise kicked burgess just like Brugess almost surprised stabbed luffy? But ugh omg I hate good guys jshdosbekdjwnejdosnejdosbrjfksndndk

Literally two of the three things he has done this arc involving failing. His track record isn't that great.

Doflamingo is obviously hurt. One more attack will do it. If that attack will be in his G4 form or not, we don't know, and so I can't really tell how close Doffy is to collapsing. Would Sabo's job then be to fight him purely to hold him off, and then step aside once Luffy's recharged? Either way I don't believe that Doffy can deal with Sabo in his state. Which is why Burgess and Sabo are so meant for each other. If only Fuji had his significant other to keep him busy.
Burgess may not have been shown in the best light, but to be defeated within ten minutes? To be defeated at all, now? Noooo! He will have to retreat for one reason or another. Once Doffy's down, he'll be the only semi-threat left. He'll have to escape.

I do remember the bomb in Alabasta, that had a timer, taking an awful lot of time reaching 0. Point being, in movies, tv, manga, time goes as fast or slow as needed. The 10 minutes will go by fast. Now, I don't think they'll hold him off perfectly for ten minutes. He'll come looking for Luffy. It much depends on the manner of which Doffy goes after Luffy. Calm, taking time, or just blasting through them all.

Most of the Sabo hate comes from the people that were super adamant he would die becuase he got hit by a canonball, a canonball scene that we didnt need to see happening right next to a Revolutionaries ship that see a body on the sea and rescue it aka fucking Oda telling us " HE ISN'T DEAD!!!", so when they were proven wrong the butthurt kicked in.
Not saying its everyone but I feel a lot of hate comes from this, some people just hate to be wrong, its like those people that make dumb arguments for years about characters joining and making dumb counter arguments for others not to join(Perona for nakama supporters).

To me the Luffy vs Don fight has been awesome so far .
As you said i read back from chapter 780 when it started and chaos along with everything else is great .I'm enjoying it, but it has been disjointed and I can appreciate people not warming to that yet.
If I have one major criticism of OP it is Oda does have a tendency now to show fights abruptly, perhaps with 'they'll flesh that out in the anime' in mind.
Sometimes I miss the focus of just having two characters facing off undistracted. -

At least that's where I decided to start collecting the pages of the fight.

Well that i can understand. Everyone hates being wrong. Its just the arguments some people are making don't make sense to me. Like you said maybe they just got pissed off they weren't right and now hate Sabo for it. That makes more sense to me then the whole "he showed up out of no where" argument.

This also makes sense to me. Not sure why people would think all commanders of a yonkou crew are at the same level, but if you like Burgess you probably won't like sabo bc he is about to beat the shit outta him

There's planety of people who are still in some condition to fight, and thanks to the birdcage, they aren't spread that much apart.
Lot can happen in 10 minutes. Even if the gladiator mob doesn't last long, there's still Barto, Robin, Sai, Zoro, Franky and samurai, Elizabelo, Orlumbus… Maybe even goddamn Kyros. I hope Cabbage also decides to help out.
It doesn't have to be done with sheer force, maybe they can use some trickery with the devil fruits they have at their disposal. They even have Violet as control tower.
And... do I even dare suggest the possibility Fujitora might actually help out, even a little, so nobody realizes he actually helped. But then it would feel too easy. Not sure how I'd feel about it.
That leads me to the downside of this. Can't really feel the danger.

The fight has barely started between sabo and burgess and this time it is 1v1 I think its fair to say that we haven't seen enough from either to guage power levels or say whether or not one or the other is being fodderized for plot reasons. BB has been colecting fruits for 2 years now, if Burgess wanted one, unless he wants a specific one, he would have one already, hes trying to get the fruits because of BB I dont think its for his personal use, unless like I said he wants a specific one.

Burgess needs to take Bellamy's DF, it would actually suit him and his fighting style. Imagine he launches himself in the air with his opponent and then does some freakishly strong suplex (or even a powerbomb). I would rate him more if as someone mentioned earlier he showcased more of his moves.

Because he is plenty strong and waits for Doflamingo and Luffy to tire each ther/ expected Doflamingo vs everyone to get Doffy on last leg so then he can go at tired/ harmless Doffy and others. He is fresh and ready for fighting so he wont go down/back off easily.

I think that Burgess bag might be full of normal fruits with highest chance to turn into devil fruits. Seeing how Smileys DF power just taken over an apple that was next to him it might turn out that DFs are really simple to re-take if somebody knows specific conditions that have to be meet to obtain DF power of person that just passed away next to them.
A lot depens on how fast persons ability respawns somewhere in the world. Perhaps person has to be buried in ground for power to respawn or some days have to pass before DF curse leaves the body. We lack enough info now to say anything more.
We might get to know thanks to Burgess how Doflamingo obtained Aces Mera Mera, at least I hope for it.

Sai's foot would need to connect with Dofla first. And even if it does connect, there's no guarantee he would knock Dofla out, since Luffy's G4 moves are leagues above a move that is comparable to Elephant Gun.

It's not about hating Sabo, it's more about Burgess. They have so much love for the character they've barely seen. Their love for Burgess create this power rank they feel Burgess should be when they've never seen Burgess fight. But they continue to justify their assumptions with Burgess title "Yonkou Commander"
They refuse to look at the true contest of the story, rather they go with arithmetic that if Marco is "this" strong, hence Burgess should be this strong. When the true side of the story shows up and show them what Burgess really is, they get upset. I've seen people compare Burgess with Marco and Ben Beckman which is laughable at best.
I completely agree with you. He hasn't shown any real fighting skills and yet they love him. If Sabo would be in the same level with the Supernovas ( because they like to go all arithmetic) Burgess doesn't seem to be a rival. Yes he won the Block A but I try to imagine him against Luffy and all I see is his ass whipped from Gear 2.
