Btw has the potential connection between Puddin and 3x3 eyes been discussed at some point?
Ever since her photo appeared when they left Zou.

I'm guessing Sanji had a sudden moment of inspiration at the end there as to how to get out of this situation rather than just resign himself to the marriage deal.
Lola will arrive. With her husband and army. She will turn the story around.
Sanji is very dissapointing this chapter. But I dont know how else he could have behaved.
And Jinbei. Dont forget him. He will show up, too.
I wonder, after BM lets Luffy off the hook with our cook and second emergency food supply, maybe Pudding would want to tag along with Sanji and join the crew? Just thinking out loud.
I think Nami's shudder just before the storm is related to observation Haki. I'm wondering if Oda would explain that her weather acute senses have had a relation to Haki since her birth.
1.) goddamn it no chapter next week!
2.) oda crafted a great arc for sanji. now it's a marriage love story of two star crossed lovers hahahaha.
3.) wtf is going to happen. I can't predict it. Someone is going to come save luffy or something.
3.) wtf is going to happen. I can't predict it. Someone is going to come save luffy or something.
Or 4.) He gets beaten to a pulp and we launch into the reversed save Luffy arc.
They are pretty much there to kill him for good.
Well I think for the sake of plot they capture Luffy and bring him before Big Mom before they off him. I at least would want some more dialogue between him and Big Mom.
Maybe the same thing, opportunity or person that saved smiley's ass before will appear again.
Or 4.) He gets beaten to a pulp and we launch into the reversed save Luffy arc.
This could happen. Luffy did they he wouldn't leave that spot until Sanji comes back and Sanji can't come back to save Luffy… Maybe they'll capture Luffy and take him to Big Mom.
I'd laugh if Sanji has to end up saving Luffy :p
edit: @Green-Hair beat me to it :P
Man, I know it well known that Luffy is stubborn to the extreme, but Luffy is the captain for God's sake. Luffy is so focused on getting Sanji back, that he is putting Nami in danger. Luffy should know that Nami will never leave her captain's side. Luffy's fate is Nami's fate.

I don't really see it being much different than her noticing weather changes. While it would be nice for the girls to develop Haki too Usopp just got it not too long ago.
I think it at least I hope this talent of hers is not related to haki.

There is no plot armor here. That army have orders to kill, not capture.

@dwo:
Sanji is very dissapointing this chapter.
Like hell he is.
Great chapter. In the continuity of the previous one.
I loved the interaction between Sanji and Pudding.
I never doubted her. As I said in the chapter in which she was introduced, I'm sure that they're going to end up together when this manga is over.
I'll be looking forward to seeing Sanji's interactions with other women after this arc. It would be interesting to see girls falling for him now that he is taken.
As for what's happening next, I think that Luffy will lose and will be imprisoned. I'm expecting Reiju to visit him and explain the threats his brother is facing.
After that, if Big Mom isn't actually keeping the key on herself, Brook and Chopper could use their position to look for the key.
As for the most important threat, I still think that the key is to get Big Mom to give up on that alliance. She's the only one that can guarantee Zeff's safety from a retaliation of the Vinsmoke family.
Whatever Capone is scheming might lead to a situation where the Straw Hat can turn her opinion around. If she somehow ends up being indebted to them, she might agree to give up on the Vinsmoke technology.
Are you serious? Luffy even having anyone on his crew is putting them in danger going through the new world etc.
Is this now going to be the Luffy non sexist (hopefully) version of the Sanji is sexist because he didn't attack a woman and put a life in risk debate ?
Nami not leaving his captains side is a good thing, besides she should help fight.
Luffy's fate is Nami's fate.
Of course. Luffy will become Pirate King and Nami will be on the crew.
They have no where to run, the Army has already engaged with Luffy meaning they were really close. This is the option Luffy has, Nami is all for running away and hiding, forgetting about Sanji etc.
Oh man, if this were ASoIaF Luffy would so go down right now for this stupid decision :P
Did anyone notice Zeus wearing a hat?

Bobins clone food type thing is in front of Luffy. On the left Bobin is about to slash his sword on Luffy on the left.

I wouldn't be surprised. Fujitora managed to detect Nami's weather from quite far away, so Haki being used to detect weather wouldn't be out of the question.

Didn't Fujitora explain that because he was blind his hearing senses were better?
That's so dumb. But I still couldn't help but to laugh.
Didn't Fujitora explain that because he was blind his hearing senses were better?
Maybe, it could also be a positive side effect to strong Observation Haki.
If my memory is right, he largely made his comment just based on 'his eyes being closed' rather than attributing it towards a specific sense. I'm all for being corrected though.

Cool! Thanks for pointing that out! Zeus is cool, I wonder if Zeus and Prometheus have funny personalities
I may be clutching at straws here but when 4th Commander of the BM pirates got wrecked by Ma D. Monk she sent another commander in their place to get revenge, I.e. cracker. So why hasn't she done the same here? Pound mentions a scenario where she conjures up a fury with Zeus and Prometheus and sends a vast army and that army being lead by a commander but in this chapter we only see Bobbin leading the charge. Thus, I have to disagree with people saying Bobbin is a cut beneath the rest he's the one leading the charge and a few chapters ago I suggested that he could be a commander and not just a no name grunt like so many wanted to believe. The other thing that doesn't make sense is why would she send anyone other than someone equally strong (or stronger) to lead the charge that overruns Luffy? To her knowledge she doesn't even know with what difficulty Cracker was defeated so she can't know if Luffy is in a condition to fight or not either.
Anyway, I think Bobbin is a beast and the telltale signs are all there, the crazy total of those three bounties combined can't even be counted (apparently), the fact that he's in front of the rest of the army this chapter, the fact that he's been revealed several hundred chapters ago. Yep, I'm going to stick to my guns and say he's a powerhouse and is high in the hierarchy. That shot of Luffy standing there looking at an army coming his way and not budging, like Roger who didn't care he was outnumbered by Shiki's fleet, moments like these are what makes you worthy of Pirate King and Luffy's had so many epic moments. Long may it continue.
(Amazing arc so far, this arc is one of the most fresh arcs we've seen in a decade, open ended plot points, no forgone conclusion to anything, a lot of big name players who have yet to reveal their hand, man oh man, I am ecstatic)

Just kind of unusual for Oda to have a premier character lead the charge like that without a more 'epic' panel to distinguish him. Especially in the one where Luffy was using Hawk Gatling.
I personally think Bobbin is along the same lines of Pekoms and Tamago. Veterans in Big Mom's crew and highly respected, but just a notch below commanders. Wouldn't mind Bobbin being a commander though, loved him when Oda first introduced him.
And the only thing I can think of is maybe Big Mom wants the other two commanders to stay in the Castle because of the Vinsmokes as a safety valve? Maybe they are supposed to attend the lunch too but are just late? Not sure.
Or 4.) He gets beaten to a pulp and we launch into the reversed save Luffy arc.
I like this idea. Luffy needs his ass being saved at least once. And the thing is: no way Luffy isn't going to be captured after a long grueling fight with Cracker and tanking Sanji's abuse.
Are you serious? Luffy even having anyone on his crew is putting them in danger going through the new world etc.
Is this now going to be the Luffy non sexist (hopefully) version of the Sanji is sexist because he didn't attack a woman and put a life in risk debate ?

I agree that the New World is extremely dangerous, and just looking at a person wrong here could mean that said person might be missing their head, but Luffy's stubbornness and recklessness just compounds the situation(like it usually does, I know). Luffy is well aware of the dangers of the New World(Zoro told him as much at Punk Hazard ) yet he still is acting as reckless as ever. I'm not asking Oda for a total 360 on Luffy's character, but Luffy needs to change his ways to a degree in the New World. I still hold out hope that change might happen after the Wano, since it's known Kaido will kill without prejudice. A crewmate will never bite the dust, Oda said a much, but I wouldn't mind a crewmate being very close to death that make Luffy change a little bit.

Damn, you beat me to making a post about that. That throws out the assumptions of Moria being a snakeneck (I've seen theories about that in other places, although I always thought he was a quirky human).

I was wondering about why there wasn't a Sweet General as well. Although there is still a minute chance that there's one all the way in the back while the rest of the crew are at the front lines. We still don't know why Big Mom wanted Cracker, Katakuri, and Smoothie to show up at the palace yesterday. It's even mentioned that it's been a long time since they were gathered in one spot, so it may have been for a special job such as being present during the wedding as sentries.
To be fair, we STILL haven't got Bobbin's title card. The same goes for "Demon Lady" Amant. Mont D'or, Opera, and Galette appeared a few times in this arc before they got title cards as well. So we could always get something, I don't know, "FLEET COMMANDER: THRIFTY BOBBIN" in the next chapter or two. Please Oda, give him anything. All of the artificial hype towards him can't go to waste if the four Sweet General spots are already taken. Or just a "Big Mom Pirates Fighter" like Pekoms and Tamago, whatever that's supposed to mean lol.
Also, "Thrifty Bobbin" is easily the best epithet I have ever heard in this manga. I don't care what the explanation for that is. All I know is that it gives me an image of Bobbin being this suave used car salesman, and that alone is a priceless gift.

That epic panel will probably happen next chapter when he comes face to face with Luffy. Boyoyoyoyon
@Dr.:
That change will never happen. And it is better that way.
Your probably right, but a man can dream.
Edit: On a side note I love the page of Momma's advancing army, and all the races so far she has united. I see some snakeheads, fishmen, long arm and leg tribes, and dwarves. All she is missing(like Big Mom mentioned before) are the giants.
Bobins clone food type thing is in front of Luffy. On the left Bobin is about to slash his sword on Luffy on the left.
You mean the Whipped Cream Mininster?
What an epic chapter.. Sanji's romance.. Luffy's fight for survival against an overwhelming army.. it felt like OP is maturing
I know I try not to take things too seriously considering the world One Piece takes place in but what exactly is Prometheus supposed to be? He can't be "The Sun" because that is ridiculous. But then that means there is a much smaller ball of fire hanging around in the sky? How was it made or where did it come from?
Great chapter. In the continuity of the previous one.

i feel the sanji comedy about women being changed from just general pervert to "taken by someone else and has to control himself" pervert could be very funny itself. Like imagine pudding promising that she'll wait for him or something and sanji saying the same but him finding himself in situations around women that the old sanji would find himself in a dream position but the new sanji has to resist it. Oda could find a ton of jokes there
You mean the Whipped Cream Mininster?
They have the same mouth, same probably?

If Luffy is in a situation in which he can't help his crew mate or friend, he will blame it on he isn't strong enough.
Look at Roger in front of Shiki's fleet, should Roger have joined Shiki?
Anyway we don't need a Nami in trouble plot point now. Seriousness aside who knows Nami might steal Sanji's marriage and get married to him

In regards to romance, Sanji is actually serious even with a nice girl in his arms. Not all "Omg Pussy"
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
They are brothers you know.
This family is confusing, I should probably look at a wiki branch with names of people under Big Mom.
Pretty chaotic situation. I can't figure out right now how oda is going to resolve this.
Still BM, chapters ago, was talking about a sacrifice. I can't see luffy winning here, if he get captured, mama trying to kill him may be the trigger to Sanji's reaction.
Chapters did fine to me, I don't know why everybody is mad at Sanji.
When Sanji first put on the mask to cover up his injuries, I had a feeling that it would play a role in the plot. Probably in the form of Big Mom finding out and actually having tension with the Vinsmokes when she finds out how they treat their family. I know how asinine that sounds considering how destructive she is with ordering countries to be destroyed if they can't pay their candy tributes on time, using her children for political marriages to make alliances, kicking her ex-husbands to the curb, and killing Muscato when her mental illness acted up (although I argue that she doesn't even remember that as a side effect of her illness).
But her dream of wanting to sit at a table with her children being giant-sized always made her character more complex and weird in that respect, as well as wanting to create a kingdom of racial harmony. Why would she be interested in either of those things if she seems to only care for her children as tools to exploit for gaining power? Not to mention letting her citizens have the freedom to leave (presumably) without any consequences, and most interestingly, Lola speaking of her mother in high praise as someone who could help out the Straw Hats if they get into trouble. The fact that she left in search of a voluntary marriage partner should mean that she should be critical of her mother like Pudding is, right? But that doesn't explain how she got a Vivre Card if its forbidden for even Big Mom's children to have one. The only possibilities there are if she stole it or if Big Mom both willingly gave it to her and allowed her to leave. And the latter possibility strangely seems more likely when taking account of all this evidence.
!
!
And yet in this chapter, we see Big Mom encouraging all of her children to get along and not hold grudges despite one of her children being a sociopath. Big Mom, the homicidal Yonko who destroys whole islands if she can't get the food she wants, vocally disapproves of her children wanting to kill each other and seems to genuinely care for them. Not to mention that really interesting bit Judge said about how "the lasting happiness of [their] children come first and foremost", which is obviously a lie when it comes to how they view Sanji. Also, remember how Judge specifically chose Sanji for this marriage because he doesn't want his "precious" children that he actually values to be bound to such a mad woman.
I thought it was really cool to have this arc star both the Charlotte Family and the Vinsmoke Family to get a theme going of how twisted family interactions can get. But I think that this is more than just a thematic choice, but something that will actually matter once Big Mom gets a sight of something like Sanji's bruises to see through Judge's facade. And of course, the Fishman Island bomb is going to play a notable role in regards to whichever party opens it and who they decide to blame it on.
We're definitely getting a flashback focused around Totland and Big Mom's family at some point (and perhaps Pedro and Pekoms' backstory may be a part of that or its own separate thing. After all, Dressrosa had, like, four or five flashbacks lol). I can't wait to see Oda dig deeper into showcasing how Big Mom's psychology, because it fascinates me a lot in a good way despite seeming so contradictory. Especially when it comes to her Mafioso-nature of loving deals and games where things of "equal value" are exchanged, and being interested in Luffy because of that. These redeemable traits in Big Mom making her morally grey instead of as constantly irredeemably corrupt as the Vinsmokes only help support that she's not going to be the main villain that gets taken down by Luffy in this arc. And whatever Capone is planning and how Jimbei figures into all of this will make this whole situation more complicated with how many pieces are at play here.
On a side-note, I really liked this chapter. I didn't mind last week's and had an issue or two with it while still condoning it due to the execution and Sanji's characterization being consistent (not that I exactly care for similar his act was to Nami and Robin's facades). But Luffy facing off against Big Mom's army and being stubborn about not eating any food or moving from that spot, the art and paneling this chapter (especially with that dinner scene and shots of Luffy fighting the army in the rainfall montaged with Sanji and Pudding's scenes), and Sanji and Pudding's kindred spirits this chapter were very entertaining to read. Especially the last point, since this is most likely as far as Oda will go in exploring romance as a notable plot point in this manga. I definitely don't expect Sanji to get married this arc, but I hope that some sort of promise of getting together when the series ends is made. I would have preferred seeing their previous meet up so that their interactions this chapter felt more organic and properly built-up, but it still worked for me.
And of course, Bobbin's divine return this chapter alone merits a 48 out of 10 chapter rating.
I think Anana is named after Banana.
Best scenario in my opinion. Luffy and Nami gets captured, both chained in the wedding hall. Sanji sees blood dripping from Luffy, lose it and break their chains. Sanji, Luffy and Nami surrounded by Big Mom's crew and Vinsmokes.
@Count:
Damn, you beat me to making a post about that. That throws out the assumptions of Moria being a snakeneck (I've seen theories about that in other places, although I always thought he was a quirky human).
Moria is unlikely to be a snakeneck, as he didn´t have a long neck as a child
This is how snakeneck kids look like, apparently (assuming this kid is one)
HOWEVER
Moria still looks nothing like a human (nowadays), and even as a child he had non human features like horns. I´m betting he could be a hybrid, but only time will tell
I am so glad I checked the chapter discussion this week
Yeah, after revisiting the chapter, the panels with Bobbin the BM-Army and Luffy are insanely epic. Like, really.
With the narration and all it was more like a western comic. Like the thrashing of Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters back then in the Infinte Crisis.
That's so dumb. But I still couldn't help but to laugh.
Here's my equally dumb version:
That stabby little girl is also pretty damn dark for this kind of series.
I mean all her kids are messed up, but mutilating things with a knife is a special kind of fucked up
I think Anana is named after Banana.
In some languages (like French IIRC) anana means pineapple. Also it is the "family" of the plant https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ananas
During the lunch scene all I could think about is how much it would creep me out too much to eat if all my food talked to me like that.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but unless Pudding turns down Sanji for some reason I really hope he doesn't decide to be a dick and back out of the wedding after telling pudding he would do it. It is one thing for him to be against it the whole time but it just seems heartless to tell someone who loves you that you will get married but not go through with it. Yes I am expecting Sanji to stay in the crew, I am not stupid.
