oh, I never said Brook was sane, just that considering the known effects of solitary confinement he's coping well. :D
His goals of playing for Laboon, standing at an angle and coming up with the shittiest bone jokes imaginable gave him focus enough but when he first encountered Moriah he was much further gone. Having the five years to process the encounter and add getting his shadow back to his goals are the only things that calmed him down enough to be able to interact with the Straw Hats at all.
If this were a more realistic manga I'd expect nights of PTSD so bad his crewmates have to hold him down while he screams "NONE OF THIS IS REAL!"

Moria might have helped him finding something to fill that void for the time being, but the guy wasted a LONG time on that ship doing pretty much nothing, and like you said, If this manga was realistic I would have expected him to commit suicide within a week or so

I'm guessing Moriah fell apart too, after the rout and it was only dull thoughts of vengeance and becoming the PK that kept him going. One of the OP stories I doubt we'll see is how he recovered enough to begin another crew. Possibly a desperate Hogbark chases down a rumour of a recluse guarded by the dead? His meeting the shattered man and awakens him to the possibilities of an all-star corpse crew. However the story went I'd love to read it.

I think that he wanted to use his army of zombies and especially Oars as means to become the Pirate King, but I am not absolutely sure and I don't want to go look for it (it's like a million chapters ago :blink:). I don't know if Moria truly believed that some zombies and Oars can get him to One Piece or was it a delusion he was living after he suffered his defeat against Kaido. It would certainly tie to what the other posters have been saying about him going loony after that event. In conclusion, you have got to give Buggy props as I don't see any of the previous villains rebounding as great as this guy has, from an East Blue clown through Impel Down to Shichibukai, thats a big leap even considering his past in Roger's crew. I know it's played mostly for the laughs and I find it hilarious, but it's impressive nonetheless. Maybe, Crocodile came close to that level of rebound?

You might be right about Brook but people can hold on to the slimmest of reasons and being a functional immortal losing track of exactly how much time has passed would be that much easier.

I think that Luffy, in a way helps villains, by waking them up from the delusions they trap themselves into and he does that by as much force as needed to get to their tough skulls. After that, they can move on to do better things in life like Buggy and Crocodile have been doing. That might be the reason as to why they seemingly don't hold grudges against Luffy when they see him later, as they on some level, realize he has done them a favor in a strange sort of way. This can be seen recently in Bellamy's case, as these villains don't necessarily believe the protagonist's ideals to be completely wrong, it's more of a case of them living in a non idealistic world thus their need to see the proof of such ideals and that proof is the good old might. This also ties in to Doflamingo's speech about the victors writing history or reality if you may allow me to say, so in a way, Luffy, the good protagonist substitutes the villains reality and force them to see his own through his titanic resolve. All of this he does subconsciously (of course as he is a baka ), and is another amazing quality he posses in addition to what Mihawk described about his ally making personality. Another hero, could have simply killed the villains, yet Luffy crushes their evil and sometimes unrealistic dreams and goes on giving them the chance to rebound and choose other more grounded dreams. Except for Enel, that guy is beyond repair.

An army of immortal is quite powerful. And immortal Oars was quite good. I actually thought it was a good plan. It all comes down to wether or not the salt weakness is public knowledge. If not, I would say with a proper he would have shot.

Morality sure don't give you confort, power, fulfillment or happiness. I always wonder how ruling in hell is like. And for most of those guy they were happy until Luffy showed up and messed up their life.

Can Machvise be Minkman and not wotan or flying squirrel zoan thing?

Like he ate fruit that makes it possible for him to increase or decrease weight of object that he holds / touches.
Being Minkman Squirrel would explain tail- with such fruit it all would make most sense for me.

And Dellinger being half fishman and/ or maybe also Devil Fruit user.

Also King Cannon - you said that there is no way for that shield to be holding Machvise in the air even if its times lighter than air because of its size as I compared it to how baloon works.

I dont think that you should be so much sticking to physics in real world and that shield being too small to hold Machvise in the air if its really made by him to be many times lighter than air.

That was after meeting Corazon and having his life turned around.

Law's reaction to losing everything was still to sign up to an organisation that maximized his chances of killing and destroying various things and people.

Also, Present Law might not be about killing everyone, but he's certainly obsessed with the idea of killing Doffy.

His whole plan was to have Kaido murder Doffy when he couldn't provide SMILEs anymore, so obviously Law feels the need to kill him.

Whether Luffy dealing out an assicking will eventually slake law's lust for Doffy's death isn't really the point, he lost Corazon and subsequently dedicated his life to killing Doffy, regardless.

The purpose depends on the author, I do not know why people repeatedly say this. Lots of characters that have lived don't have a real purpose to show up later on either other than some shoehorned or very minor role, but that doesn't change from everyone staying alive. Even Whitebeard could have left the war, continued to get worse due to his sickness which is great forshadowing from Oda and Blackbeard takes advantage of the situation and becomes Yonko. He also shows a second devil fruit power during the war which Akainu, Garp, Whitebeard and someone else mention that it is one of the strongest fruits in the OP world, thus building up hype.

There is another easy solution to Whitebeard not needing to die either for example. Whether someone needs to die or not can easily change how the author wants to write a certain scenario. You don't need to look at purpose, something that can easily change. Sabo didn't need to come back alive either as Ace 2.0 but he did. This applies to anything. I would guess, expect him in a cover page a year or so from now.

Apart from deaths that are necessary for major story progression, Oda just does not kill characters in the current timeline.

Again, It's Different. I doubt that someone will survive getting stabbed in the heart or someone who is totally defenceless and can't move survive an explosion.
Their death was necessary to the story. If Monet didn't die, All the SHs will be dead by now. And this FB showed us why Vergo needs to die.

Gedatsu's "survival" would seem impossible too, seeing as he was thousands of feet in the air, and then fell and hit the ground. Likewise with the explosion and heart stabbing, things that would cause death in the real world won't cause death in One Piece.

Monet needed to be immobilized. That's what happened.

And Oda has shown time and time again that he doesn't kill his antagonists. It's better for them to have to live with their defeats and failures rather than just die.
