I dunno, it all just looks kinda plain to me. Maybe I'm being spoiled by the inaka with all the nice scenery

I mean it looks clean and very green, nice weather even. But beyond that, buildingwise, it looks pretty ordinary.

Well, like I said, for those "it has to look old to look pretty" people like you guys, there's Kyoto.
I ain't posting shit for that, it's way too famous. Just search kyoto or watch Uchoten Kazoku.
That anime had the best accurate portrayal of Kyoto I've ever seen, except for the lack of crowds.

I just posted the exact blocks where I LIVED, not like scenery from the city of Minou mountains in Osaka where goddamn wild MONKEYS live.
I'm sure you guys don't live in a fucking painting either, just near one. :ninja:

You're not alone with that, really. Apart from the last photo that Aohige posted, everything about it looks just like another big city. It takes more than a few naturally growing trees and not-butt-ugly concrete apartment blocks

Toyonaka, the first two pictures, is where there are centuries old natural bamboo forests right next to urban areas.
Google map cars don't venture into the BLOODY WOODS you know.
Nor did I live in the woods.

Also, name me one other "big city" where a castle and its garden stands in smack middle of metropolitan area.
I didn't post it here because I've posted them before, and I didn't LIVE next to the freakin' castle.

And really the entirety of Europe in general. Like if you want to narrow it down to the absolute center of town, and that it needs to be surrounded by a huge garden it'll be a bit harder i reckon, but palaces and castles feel pretty common in all the major European cities.

There's like four huge castles and/or palaces in and about Stockholm. Some with huge gardens and some with none.

To be honest, Vilnius has grown a lot during the years I have been studying here. It's a city that is sincere about its own being naturally embracing all of its history beautiful and ugly from Gothic to Barocco and from Classicism to Brutalism. You feel the flow of time here.

Why would the scope of the city make any difference to how it looks?

Old palaces in the middle of major cities isn't that novel of a concept to me that i get wowed by it alone.

The whole juxtaposition of the new and old, tall modern buildings and stuff some very rich dude threw up in the 18th century, it's all things i've seen before. I mean if your point is that i can't find anything that is 100% identical to that then yes i suppose so. But the whole concept feels entirely been there, seen that to my mind.

But as i recall what i responded to was you saying that there are no major cities with palaces/castles in them.

I still don't think that it (the castle in the city) feels unique in any other way than how every individual design is unique.

Not at all. Tokyo is a beautiful city. Dat skyline. And the city you were showing looks perfectly fine.

And i just saw pictures of this place called Kamakura that just blew me away with it's beauty. Not a city but eh beauty is beauty.

I really like my city, the only problem is that I found that my city is just "another big city." Nothing original, like when someone shows you a picture of São Paulo, not saying the city name, you would never guess.

We may not have Rio´s amazing beaches. But I guess we have amazing architecture for our museums and historical places.

Well, it rains here almost as often as English complain about their rains, and such weather might affect the mood.

Also, ferries sail daily from Karlshamn and Stockholm to this side of Baltic sea. Then they transform into giant humanlike robots and climb the land by foot… I mean, you're welcome.

But I got to say, Portland was the one city I've actually visited that I loved the old architecture. I would actually go into the city just to walk around and gaze up at the spires and actually spotted some gargoyles lol
…. but looking online at pictures of the city, I can't find those old wonderful buildings.

Carr (1980 to 1991) was there for nearly same amount of time (12 years) as Thayer (1992-present).

Sorry Paul, KISS is famous but the current lineup isn't as famous as the original is. Yeah yeah, KISS may still can get a platinum … but we just don't hear them on the radio ect as we used to.

LOL I don't really care either way. I just find it hilarious that Paul is upset that both of the two current members that were not founding members were not added but didn't care about the one former member who was in the band just as long as one of them and longer than the other.

To me it makes Paul seem callous and he wanted the full current members to be in the hall of fame when many fans that were there in the first 20 years don't even recognize the names. Seems like he was just trying to make a fuss and get more press coverage for the current lineup.

I grew up with KISS but haven't bought one of their albums in 15-20 years. When I think of the band I think of the original lineup and I remember when I was 9 (give or take a year) sneaking into my mom's room where my older teenage sister had her album collection stashed away (as she shared a room with me) and putting on the Double Platinum record. "Beth" and "God of Thunder" were my favorites.

I can't remember ANY song name from the current lineup. I don't hear their songs on the radio like I did the early songs.
Seriosuly, I don't think the current lineup is as famous as the original was.

According to wiki, they still were in 2012 (album Monsters) but its not a routine "release an album every other year or 3" sort of thing.
Sure the album before that was 2009 (3 yrs) but before that was 1998 (11 years).
But they've been releasing singles, video albums, 3 live tour albums (2004, 2008/09, 2010), tours ect in the time between

Frankly I've not seen any album since Carnival of Souls … but now I'm curious on how they sound.
