It depends. I passed out once and got waken up by my friend slapping my face.
The lose of consciousness when you're in deep sleep is basically the lack of reaction to stimulus from outside. it becomes minimal, almost none.
Passing out is totally different from sleeping. When you pass out for a short amount of time your brain totally stops working and after that kind of resets/restarts. That state happens because of low blood flow in the brain.
when you're sleeping your brain is working just fine, but 45-55%(deep sleep) of the time your brain almost entirely ignores the stimulus from the outside(it still receives them, but simply ignores. Well in really isn't known if it completely ignores them, because at that time people certainly dream, but they don't remember most of those dreams).

Is it proven that when you're in a coma you're unconscious? Some people say that they live a out of body experience, that can very well mean that they are still receiving the stimulus and the brain is completing all the information that is missing, "than making like a dream about the real life".
Note: I went looking and because those cases aren't proven :P, and are mostly fake, it is considered that the person is unconscious. And given that not even high pain stimulus have a response(something that when you're sleeping you certainly have).

I haven't started reading One Piece yesterday, you know. I know which translations are good and which ones are not so good. Gats' lines conflict with what was drawn on panels. He says those just look like explosions. Ok, if it looks like an explosion, but it's not an explosion, what is it? The punch was launched from those strange looking shoulders. That's hardly a way to describe a punch technique. At least with Happou guys, it was explained they were using Hasshouken.
Ideo doesn't have a devil fruit, he was floating in the water just fine. It could be a special fighting technique, however frafetched. But then what's the purpose of that fiery backdraft coming out of his shoulder when he punches? What's the purpose of wrapping his fists with protective materials if it's his fighting technique? If I had to step back and look at it objectively, it makes more sense it's a special weapon. Because, aside from different weird abilities in One Piece, there are also different weird weapons, like dial inspired ones in Skypiea or Franky's Coup de Vent or even lasers. Luffy's fist needs to travel a little and accumulate friction in order to produce fire, Sanji needs to spin to heat his legs. Both require preparation.
If it weren't for those weird looking shoulders and the fact there's backdraft coming out of them when he throws a punch and Gats commenting the punch was launched from the shoulders, I'd probably think it's his skill too. Even if it would mean his punches are faster than Luffy's Gear 2nd ones.

I don't know if you count getting knocked out as fainting but a few years ago i was knocked out because a friend was dancing and picked me up and tried to flip and catch me. Smashed my head on the floor. I was knocked out for about 30-60 seconds. Besides the pain it's actually pretty cool because you don't remember anything and have slight memories.

Also, how is a special fighting technique far fetched? That whole chapter you can see it was introductions and displays of special fighting techniques. The ideo thing, hasshoken, jeans special sniper fighting technique and Bobby's hard body which in it of itself is a "special fighting technique" (you can take or leave bobby if you want tho)
Jean's technique wasn't explained, might have been his skill, might have been a devil fruit. Bobby supposedly posseses natural toughness. Ideo's exploding punches as a special fighting technique is farfetched because of apparent ease of execution. No preparation, no momentum, just punch and blast.
Sanji was never shown spontaneously igniting his leg, without doing anything.
Also he wraps his hands because his stature and looks is that of a martial artist, elizabello is wearing boxing gloves as well just a different type. Speaking of which, so elizabello's attack is ok but ideo's is weird and has to be a weapon?
Elizabello warms up for an hour for a single punch, Ideo punches blasts with every punch like it's nothing.
To finish shouldn't the shoulders seeing that they are weird be the reason to believe its a special fighting technique?

You make it seems as if it's confirmed to be a fighting technique and it's ridiculous to think it could be a weapon designed to increase the momentum of the punch and cause blasts upon impact. I've shown enough to at least make you admit it's possible. Don't have any more to say about it, would just be repeating stuff.
While I'm at it, I also doubt that arm guard is a weapon as burgess had to "charge up" to use it but this we'll see eventually

No reason to be so criptic if he's actually from long arm tribe. But it wouldn't be the first time Oda did something like that.

So Ideo was inspired by Ideon. Oda confirmed it himself. So I dont expect him to be long arm of any sorts, just one of One Piece weirdos.
As for his explosive punches he is some very well know boxer and he uses gloves of some sorts. Lately I was wondering why Sanji does not use shoes with iron bottom for example or at least strenghtened with metal- Oda with haki this haki that made iron armors and stuff like that somehow less revelant that I expected sooo…
If Burgess cant use his elbow air shoot technique with such freedome and precision after Sabo destroing his armlet then I would be quite happy. It would also point to Ideo gloves amplyfying his strength in a way or helping him put all force of punches in one spot. I dont see neither - Burgess thing or Ideos - as some mechanizm or dial really just tools to amplify their abilities and fighting styles.

just without any kind of movement. Underwater on his way to FI he also heated up his leg without shown spinning- it gives some idea on how hot his legs must be to do that much fire damage underwater.
For me diable jambe always was form of haki- like when Sanji fought Jabra he did some spinning, heatened up his leg and Jabras flesh was burned through tekkai.
Its just like Rayleigh said- haki is invisible armor of some sorts and I think that with diable jambe that armor is getting heated up to point of burning. Like compressed air of some sorts starting to burn. Luffy was said by Blackbeard to have improved haki since last time they meet up when he gotten punched to the face by Luffy at end of impel down arc. So BB seen first time they meet up something that points to Luffy having haki. Same with Bellamy pointing out lately Luffys amazing haki while Luffy was simply talking with him.
So Luffy, Sanji and Zoro had it. Simply their manifestations of it were different to each.
Even Daruma who wasnt in first 100 of best fighters in One Piece shown himslef starting burning with fire out of nothing
I do think it was haki usage. So Sanji at time of Ennies Lobby having also some form of haki - developing it in natural way, not knowing much about it - is something what I take as normal. Through 2 years of training he gotten good understanding of things and refined his skillzzz in a way that make it possible to start out that fire in some way like daruma did.
Next move from Sanji will be blue flames when he spins with his current Diable Jambe. Just wait n see :ninja:

Kanjuro was turned into a toy in the middle of their palace raid so Kin'emon just walked out after forgetting why he was there in the first place.
