pell is a named char. shinokuni victims are fodder/nameless char. furthermore this is the new world and not paradise.
btw, does oda ever kill any char in current time? not in flashback and ace-WB is excepted. AFAIK no named char is ever killed by oda, how about fodders?

If what we get out of this involves more character development for Chopper, then that's a win in my book!

I'm surprised you were expecting that they weren't gonna be saved. Why can't us readers just accept the fact that 9.9 times out of 10 no one in One Piece will die?
we'll have to accept it weather we like it or not, but for a place such as the new world said to be full of danger and disaster, for death not to occur takes part of the excitement out of reading. (atleast for me)… i accepted ppl not dying before ace and whitebeard and their death was suppose to be a huge thing but with upcoming arcs if 9.9/10 ppl dont die, every heart-wrenching moment that should mean something will get overturned as, "we know they are gonna survive so why care" or something of the like. with a few deaths it opens up the possibility of us not knowing at all what will happen when tragedy befalls, henceforth bringing but a higher level of excitement for me.

My prediction is, that Baby 5 and Buffalo will kidnap Franky and CC. It would be far to easy if Franky could take down 2 strong Fighters, of one of the biggest Pirate-"Captains" in the new world. One of them, maybe yes. But two would be to much for him. If they kidnap them, or just CC and Franky got no chance against them (because of Buffalos Wind Power maybe), then we have a free way to a Dressrosa arc, because Law needs CC for his plan to combat a yonkou.

Cmon now, you know that is an exception. Include Whitebeard and flashback characters too. Ugh this is like 2010 again, and I am pretty sure this kind of complaints will not stop. Oda even said in an interview, “If a close friend or enemy died I probably couldn’t draw a fun party scene.” This is One Piece, get used to it.

I really want to look deeper into the conversation between the shadow brokers, but unfortunately Mangapanda's translations render that impossible as I have no idea if they even use the right tension this time…
Franky and the Dressrosa killers werer expected, but it is nice to see that Dofla is actively pushing for CC. Additionally it is a great notion to include problems Luffy's behaviour cause for Law. This alliance is frickle...

Just my opinion.If such a thing happened Franky would have lost all respect among many readers. Franky's a man's man. It would undermine his character for him to be kidnapped.

I just feel like it undermines CC in a big way, he's meant to be this genius/deranged scientist who also happens to be a gas logia. Yet his big experiment he's been working on for years is curable? Hardly a weapon of mass destruction. I suppose it will probably be used to hype Chopper
Chopper's dream is to be able to cure anything, so I guess yes this thing is going to raise his level as a doctor.
What I think is this:
Kinemom: He isn't cured by chopper, but due to his DF abilities. Before he got petrified by the gas he used his DF and will thus be alive and Chopper will not exactly "cure" him.
Luffy: I think a part of Luffy's hand was petrified by the gas? Or am I wrong? I'm guessing Chopper comes up with something for a part of the body but not the whole body itself. So he won't be able to save all those who have already been petrified but he can help those who are affected by the gas partially. -
It's apparent that "not killing off fodder" will be for this week what "sexism and poor female roles" were for the last couple of weeks.
Why do you think the latter wil be a non-issue?

I think I will enjoy this chapter once I actually understand all the dialogue in a better translation. Not sure if I get what exactly happened with Baby 5 and Doflamingo.
YEAH FRANKY! I have the same thoughts as everyone else. If DD gets CC and he is still able to make SAD, lame. And if the gas is reversible for everyone then that's very disappointing and stupid. I think Kinnemon's ability is what will save him. Maybe he made a protective suit cover him just before the gas hit him so the suit has been coated but he is fine underneath. Hopefully something like that. Otherwise if Chopper is just so good he can save only him because it recently happened that is passable.
So this chapter has potential problems if Oda doesn't handle things well but just from what is here it was pretty good.

Horrible translation aside this chapter makes me sad I never voiced my idea from a week or two ago that maybe Franky's absence was because he was checking out a SAD tanker… Wonder if the fact he was leads somewhere. Like a fuller explanation of SAD and Smiles maybe or finding some flaw in them. Maybe if they can exploit a flaw in Smiles, Law can use that to work around potentially losing CC.
Anyone able to figure out the 2nd silhouette in the "Lucci"-like broker's panel? Curious if that theory is debunked (assuming the character isn't a new recruit to the rogue CP9 crew). The Lucci-like broker looks so damn similar to him.
Baby 5's quirk has some potential with several SHs. Brook asking to see her panties, Sanji asking just about anything in-character for him, Luffy seeing her weapons power and asking to join the crew (she ultimately won't, but it'd make a great gag)...
Curious about the full extent of Buffalo's rotating DF. I'm suspecting more to it than flying and making huge gusts of wind. It seems just vague enough to have something weird yet powerful to it (even aside from wind).
"Jack" I'm guessing is either Kaidou or Franky's dad... or hell maybe both. Unless of course it's Jack Sparrow :ninja:

im not sure. i think the best that oda willing to show us is chars with uncertain fate like that. he didnt really show them dead but we cant 100% sure that they survived as well. sabo survived tho :ninja:

Baby 5 and Buffalo have very cool designs and quirks, they were the highlight of the chapter for me.
I hope Franky can stall them long enough for Law and Luffy to arrive and capture CC, would be kind of annoying if after all this CC escapes back to Dressrosa.
I like the name of Luffy's new attack 'Grizzly Magnum', it's a lot cooler than just 'Elephant Bazooka' would have been.

bellamy got killed by doflamingo , but he is a bastard why should anyone care about that idiot , also i think Oars junior got killed in marineford since he wasnt seen during ace and whitebeard funeral. some fodders in impel down were killed and thrown into fire in level 4 by luffy.

LOL Why is everyone so set on the idea of Franky only stalling for time? This is why I am excited with the end of this chapter. Franky needs to show that he is capable of subduing high tier villains. I'm not expecting Franky to stall for anything. I'm expecting Franky to kick some ass!

Chopper making a cure however is ok. Basically, it sends the message that "if Chopper wasn't there, the children would have died" and "if Chopper wasn't there, shinokuni would be uncurable"
Shinokuni is mostly uncurable like Caesar said, unless you are a truly exceptional doctor, aka, Chopper.
Honestly, I don't even think Law could find a cure for shinokuni, even if he tried.Chopper finding a cure would simply make Chopper the one exception to the "no cure shinokuni", and that would be ok and match how good of a doctor Chopper really is wouldn't it? directed at the people mad that Chopper will make a cure

It's difficult to concentrate on any other things happening when we get the mysterious shadow brokers plus finally the two long awaited members of Doflamingo's arrive. As always it's necessary to wait for a proper translation- C3 I'm already thanking you, bro- before being able to completely judge the chapter but so far it looks really fucking amazing. -

Luffy's face when called out for 'not going along with the plan' - priceless.
Also a big fan of Oda holding back on the crew's new techniques - especially the idea that Mansopp's now such a beast, that the beatdown of fodder should only ever occur off-screen.
Having said that - I agree - and hope that Oda uses the next chapter to highlight some of the SH's growth with Franky - and let him not only stall, but BEAT some of Doflamingo's underlings. The kicker would be them fleeing back to Dressrosa with what they thought was SAD…only to find that Franky had emptied/destroyed the supply earlier on.
And going against the grain - I'd be happy to see Chopper cure all of Smiley's victims... but it really needs to be 'built-up' as more of an achievement. I think Chopper's medical abilities have long been maligned. It'd be interesting if CC and/or these underground figures made a comment on Chopper's value as an asset (fanboy)

Actually the first fodder death happens in the first chapter already, but after that pretty much no one dies anymore.. and after any scene similar to Beckman shooting that guy in the head, we'll see another panel with his beat-up K.O. face that basically says "he's fucked up bad but alive!"
