Noone really knows Luffy is coming, it must have somehow been BB's doing to open the Gates of Justice so that he himself could get back to the war after doing his bussiness at Impel Down I suppose.
Can't wait to see how the actual fighting is going to go now.. so many sickeningly strong pirates, many of whom we don't even know what powers they have yet, all in one place :X…

Smoker clearly doesn't care about rank, and hence he was happy sitting in the weakest of the 4 seas just owning noob pirates.

They need obidient man with power...So as long as smoker is not that they are fine having him at the bottom of the power chain...doesnt really matter he is on their side anyway. The difference being that if he had power in the ranks of marines he could cause more trouble...

you know i've talked about whitebeard dying like it wasn't anything big but damn when it does happen it's going to be sad. i'm sure oda is going to make us love him and then he will go out. if this arc is really the ending of the half way point of one piece then it is only fitting that oda finally breaks his rules and actually lets somebody important die since it will advance the story so much.

That is correct.
Only Sanji's coverstory did not have the "final story" in the title, instead, it said "vol.2"
Robin, Franky, and Usopp's second coverstory all had the "final" in it.As for why, well, only Oda knows.
