I’m thinking it could also go down the usual adventure movie road where the heroes acquire all the important artifacts and the villain comes in and snatches them away right before the third act. No need for Blackbeard and the Strawhats robbing the emperors twice.

This. I’m definitely way more hyped for Big Mom in the upcoming arcs, but Katakuri ended up being MVP for Totto Land. We’ve mostly only seen Big Mom act as a loose canon so far and I’m thinking once/if the real confrontation takes place she’ll be fully in control.

Hasn’t Weevil been implied to chase after Luffy first though? There’s a version of events where Marco still ends up showing.

Thinking we’ll maybe, just maybe, have a situation at the Reverie where Vivi is forced to flee, giving her reason to seek out the Strawhats.

It's still not confirmed, for sure, but this is a much simpler explanation than talking about devils that fight and esoteric stuff like that. It has never been confirmed officially by Oda (as far as I know) that one person can only eat one fruit, but it's been the general baseline of the series, and I think it would be really incoherent to change that without a solid explanation. And also, this does not change the topic of the current chapter: Corazon cannot eat another fruit. Something would happen that will end with Law eating it.

Maybe that's how he dies? Doflamingo forces him to eat the fruit? I think this is a great opportunity to show what would happen.

This would of course require the original fruit to still be edible to someone else after the first person has been denied it.

I enjoyed the Norland flashback and loved the Princess Orihime one, neither of which featured the Strawhats (well, maybe a panel or so of Jinbe) so I think yeah. If it's well woven into the story and doesn't just come off as a distraction I could picture following a different set of characters for a volume. I believe there are parts of the OP Universe that would be better explored without the presence of the crew.

In theory it definitely is. It even manages to include most of the amazing confrontation from the Volume 12, only with L in place of Near. However, the movie in my opinion has a style that tries to mimic the anime too much rather than take advantage of the live-action format, which comes off as a bit cheesy. I wish Ohba and Obata would team up to make an alternate ending to the manga using the live-action script. That would be perfection.
