In the anime, it sucked. But besides that the Impel Down arc was fine. Try again.
Indeed, the anime's portrayal of it was just a failure…it got slightly better at the end, though, although you can't undo what has already been done.
Still, it could've been worse, so I give Toei their props..

I think that as a whole Baroque Works was too long to be my favorite but it has my favorite villain. As a whole, Skypiea is my favorite by quite a bit. Enel was wonderful and so were all of his priests. I also enjoyed the story of Montblanc Norland and the Shandians. It was all really well done.

Yeah. I loved Impel Down in the manga, but I was so very disappointed with the animated adaption. I guess I had too many high hopes in the anime after the second half of Thriller Bark and everything to the end of Amazon Lily. The directing and art progressively got worst. It got to a point that I wasn't having fun watching it anymore. All the reason to drop the anime at the War Arc.

War ArcIn my order of favorites, skypiea is the reason just like many others have said. People believe it does not improve the story at all, but it was such a different place and concept, i loved it. This is why i hope fishman island will make me feel a similar way.

I adore the Skypiea saga, Enel was a great villain and his god-complex made him interesting. The shandians were badass (especially Wiper) and the Strawhats had such great chemistry there, for example Sanji, Luffy and Usopp were hilarious with them trying to recapture their boat. Not to mention Zoro and his liana screaming
. All in all the Skypiea arc was different and that's what made it so good. The whole explorer theme kept me interested for 100 chapters straight.Compare this to EL were the whole rescue-mission just seemed so terribly clichée. Don't get me wrong a few parts were great like Sogeking or Merry's farewell..but the 1vs1 fights really dragged on and none of them were very thrilling to me. Also Lucci was such a bland, generic villain who went from the silent and calm observer to sociopath in like five chapters. His background didn't really justify this either. And the Buster Call was a joke compared to the one at Ohara. I still read it of course but compared to Oda's other arcs it felt like the weakest to me.
So my vote goes to Skypiea.

Except Magellan, Impel Down was mad boring for me.

Arlong ark, i just love it because it's for me the first time they have to battle a villain that is really strong.
Water 7 and Enies lobby arc, the story with many twists and turns followed by some nice action… what's not to love?
Sabaody archipelago arc, loved the introducing of the eleven supernovas. they where really awsome
Marineford arc, only for the sake of Whitebeard and Akainu, they where so awsome... to bad ace died though

East Blue or more specifically the Arlong arc. Felt bad for Nami and what she had to go through. This is where One Piece really got me hooked.

But that's as far as I can shove my head up my ass.To each their own I guess. I for instance, cannot see why some people declare EL as Oda's best arc since I found it to be a weaker part of OP.
I'm already happy enough that quite a few people share my sentiments regarding Skypiea.

I can't decide between Enies Lobby and Skypiea.
Skypeia I liked because Enel was a cool villain. It was nice and long and I liked the recurring snake. The stuff with the Shandians are my favorite part of the entire arc.
Enies Lobby I liked because Rob Lucci was an interesting villain. To me, he was like Light Yagami, killing anyone in his way…well, Lucci follows orders. I liked this arc because of all the fights and Franky, my favorite Straw Hat joined. We discover that Garp is Luffy's grandpa, and Robin finally "officially" joins the crew. I really liked seeing Luffy reveal Gear Second/Third.

I love Skypiea Arc.
For me, that was the first 'real' adventure of Strawhat Pirate.It had a lot of exploration and discovery compared to the other arcs previous, where it was more of the strawhats assembling their crew.
I wasn't to big of a fan of Skypeia but I can see why people like it.But I don't see why Thriller Bark is so low… Loved that arc

Well I loved Thriller Bark and the whole zombie theme it felt like a good transition arc after Enies Lobby plus we got to see two Shichibukai what more could you want? Still Brook's defeat right of the bat disappointed me and Sanji was annoying as hell. But the Oars team fight was refreshing especially after all the 1vs1 fights in EL.

Skypiea and Marineford are the two best for me. One for being the most fun and emotional adventure (with the most interesting villian), and the other for being the most dramatic and packed with high profile characters. Also it was the most important arc of the manga yet.

Arabasta arc would have to be my favourite. I loved Crocodile. He is the ultimate bad guy. I thought it was so great how he planned everything out so well, even putting a timer on the bomb in case something happened to the gunners. He was also Luffy´s first real tough opponent. A lot of people would say Arlong was, but I felt that the whole fight with Arlong was just Luffy fooling around. It wasn´t until Arlong made Luffy mad that Luffy finally got serious.
Also liked Enies Lobby. Loved how the whole crew seemed to be able to pull their own weight. Didn´t seem like chopper, usopp and nami were doing nothing except screaming in this arc.

I liked Thriller Bark the most because I laughed harder than ever watching the Thriller Bark anime and other than that than Moria is just so freaking cool and I think he's the most original(artistic) character Oda has ever made though I love them all… Thriller Bark was just so freaking hilarious HAHAHA

It was with out a doubt the arc that had the most adventure, exploration, and fun crew interactions in it (actually, as I recall, it had the most crew interactions period, aside from water 7). The Skypiea arc exemplifies all that One Piece is supposed to be about; Adventure, romance, and fun!

I can't decide, I've thought at length which arc I like best
CP9 arc, Skypiea, and BW arc are so good for such different reasons that it's like comparing different genre's of film, CP9 had the most crew evolution, Skypiea is the brilliant fairy tail that is like nothing you'll ever see, and BW was the most epic for large scale events, just can't beat a country in a civil war, true, skypiea had a longer war but in BW it was way more personal, in Skypeia the best moment for me was Luffy's speech about wanting to ring the bell for Norland to Nami on the beanstalk. CP9 "I wanna Live!" need I say more? and BW it was the rain falling that just pushed me over the edge in fanboy ferver.
Even outside of those epic moments there was a hundred more that came close, I'm just grateful that something of this quality exists, that somehow unlike everything else doesn't get worse over time, somehow the brilliant ideas just keep flowing out of Oda's brain.

It was always Captain Kuro when the anime first came out. That's when I was like holy shit this is awesome.

I liked it from episode 1 honestly. Kuro arc multiplied that. Baratie stayed level with that until Mihawk and afterwards. Arlong multiplied it again.
The rest is a continuous cycle of multiplying until what Fishman Island is so far. It's still my favorite series of any medium to this day, but I am trying to broaden my horizons. -

Kuro got me hooked - Morgan arc was decent, but the Buggy arc felt SO SLOW….. I still can barely stand Buggy to this day. Overall tho, the (then) epicness that was Kuro vs Luffy got me hooked. Baratie made it better to the nth degree, and Arlong arc was when I officially declared this my favorite manga.
Then Alabasta and Skypeia and Water 7 have made it impossibly better. And it keeps getting better imo. So yeah, I don't know what I would've done had I not made it through the Buggy arc xP

I was hooked from the first chapter, It had the rare ability to seamlessly go from goofy slap stick to tense melodrama and back again.
Plus Beckman straight up put his cigarette out in a dudes eye, that's when I knew this was going to be something special. -
I'd been reading it since American Jump began with it. Was semi-interested for a while, Baratie drew me in a lot and Arlong absolutely hooked me.

As of last week, One Piece has 650 chapters and 64 volumes. All of us here most likely have read of all those. There came a time where some of us might have even reread some sagas just to kill time. I did and I reread almost everything except for the more recent arcs(i.e. Marineford arc,Impel Down) and Enies Lobby. After rereading, I've found deeper appreciation for Skypeia and Arabasta sagas respectively. Two months ago, I fell awkwardly in a basketball game and got a fractured foot as a result. One of the things I did during the first week of the injury to kill time was reread OP and yet again I reread Skypeia and Arabasta. Two excellent arcs. How bout you guys? Do you(Or have) reread any particular saga of One Piece? After stating what arc, I'd appreciate if you could also give your reason.

I re-read Skypeia about seven times. Still the best adventure arc in the whole series and I'm in love with the setting.

Sabaody has so much re-readability. Try it sometime. It just never seems to get old.
I usually reread snippets from, in this order: 1. Sabaody, 2. Skypiea, 3. Post-war arc (those 8 chapters after the Sabo flashback).
Sabaody's setting is just crazy; I try to say, "Hmm, I could have thought of that," when I'm reading stuff because I want to be a writer in the future, but there is no way in hell I could have thought of Sabaody's environment. So first you have a beautiful setting where everything takes place. Then, the Supernovas are all introduced at once, the hardened pirates of the Grand Line that we always knew were there show up in one place and add some serious future conflict potential for the Straw Hats. The way they're introduced is just… classy. There really doesn't need to be much more said for this arc.
I've already said my piece about Skypiea multiple times in this forum. Favorite arc, with Sabaody as second.
The post-war chapters are all incredible, chaotic chapters. I was lucky to start reading weekly right when those started. I must admit that they set my expectations rather high, however.
Oh, and re-read Impel Down if you haven't. I didn't like it much at first, until the later parts, and loved it to bits the second time. I just love the entire concept of it, and realize why some things needed to be as silly as they were.

I like re-reading Thriller Bark. It must have been a blast for Oda to go all out with the zombie setting and try to come up with as many designs as posible. Plus it has bink's sake, nothing, nothing at all and some awesome running gags.

Skypiea, and Thriller Bark are the ones I haven't re-read. I've read everything else a million times (even East Blue), but I find that I don't have any 'woah! I really wanna read that bit where (for example) Zoro cuts Mr 1, or when Kuma separates the SHs…I'm not saying I don't appreciate the arcs, Skypiea is a pinnacle in adventure manga, but it just doesn't have that readability factor to me. But now I have to go re-read it again.

I love to reread and rewatch Skypeia. While the anime does not capture the amazingness of Oda's art, the music is just so perfect. The arc is so fantastic in both adventure and story. I mean, I cried over the ringing of a bell.
Plus, Eneru is still my favorite villain, with Croc as a close second. I mean, the only reason Eneru failed in his mission, (though he actually didn't, as he still makes it to Fairy Vearth) is because he had no idea what rubber is. Plus, he's such a different type of evil from everyone else in the series. He plays with people's lives just for the fun of it. He has no need to kill anyone, but he does it anyway.
All of that makes it my favorite to watch and read over and over. Not to say I don't reread everything else just as much, or enjoy it just as much.

Jaaaaya. It's not too long, and it has a bunch of interesting stuff like Blackbeard, the Noland story, the salvaging stuff, everything involving Bellamy, the Knock-Up Stream.
Not so much Skypiea, though I do like reading several select chapters from that arc such as the flashback and the ending.I also enjoy the whole CP9 saga, starting from the encounter with Aokiji on Longringlongrongling whatever Island to Usopp rejoining. Such an emotional storyline. I've reread pretty much every arc though. Nostalgic to go reread old East Blue stuff, seeing the old art style and such.
