Also doesn't help that Momonosuke's most notable feats come from his born status than actual proactivity.
Kin'emon is weird because he's been very proactive lately, yet he looks extremely uninteresting compared to pretty much every other Samurai.

@Johnny:
Are you saying Latin America has a large furry fandom? :D
I personally haven't seen anything myself that would point that way, but what I've seen a few times now is other people alluding to that
I think what we can safely take away from this is that Franky is now the least popular Straw Hat. That's consistent in every region so far.
Makes sense honestly, I can't remember many great moments in the past couple years. A few "cool" moments, but nothing compared to Brook and his insane showing during Whole Cake (Oda should have called it the year of Brook).
I personally think Franky was cooler pre-timeskip. I feel like Oda went too much on the mecha side for him. It also doesn't help that he's been too reliant on the shogun, so we barely see his face in all fights save for Senor Pink.
A pity, but it shows. Remember how he and Brook disappeared for several chapters during the initial Onigashima invasion?
Franky has the misfortune of having his backstory and arc during Water 7 and Enies Lobby. His story’s cool but Usopp and Robin eclipsed what he was all about. And he’s been robbed of having a big arc since then. I think he was undervalued in Dressrosa and he had little moments that I wish stood out more. Him acting like the “Big Brother” other than a Robot makes such nicer moments for him, it’s a shame they don’t occur that much.
But hey, if Sanji can have a second backstory arc about his North Blue Origins, I have hope for Franky and his background, especially given he’s a son of a pirate and didn’t originate from Water 7 (though between him and Brook, plus the endgame coming up, it’s getting more unlikely…)
And I was thinking about this recently, Franky memorized the Pluton blueprints. Just a feeling.
Brook is Kuzan's granddad, we will know it if he is really working with Teach.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The Joke;
!
I refer as a joke, because there's anecdotal evidence of it.
Franky as the least popular Straw Hat is weird to me, as he's my third favorite and I think he has one of the coolest backstories. I also love him post-timeskip and think his fight with Pink is the second best of that era so far.
85 Bonney
60 Ulti
This poll is so trash.
I personally think Franky was cooler pre-timeskip.
To this day I fantasize about Pre-Ts Franky popping out of his torso.
Like those matryoshka dolls:
Franky Shogun -> Post Ts Franky -> Ace Venturanky
Sure he won't have all the artillery he has now, but who needs that shit when you can just remove the skin from your fists to punch people real hard?!
Nobody talking about how perennial top 5-er Chopper dropped 10 whole points?
@uniaka:
85 Bonney
60 UltiThis poll is so trash.
Ulti is funny, cute and is in current arc.
Bonney probably has less panels total than her.
Not surprising. Bonney's arc hasn't happened yet.
Chopper is one of my favorites cause I love the backstory so much but dropping was inevitable with how Oda just barely has given Chopper anything to do that stands out. Now people like to say "but Chopper always gets his doctor moments!" To which I say doctoring in One Piece just isn't very compelling because Oda has framed it as Chopper will always magic medicine his way out of things like finding an antidote in ridiculously short time for Luffy in Wano and even the new ice oni sickness feels really low tension outside because nobody is going to question Chopper finding a cure.
The struggle of Chopper healing anyone does not translate even if it exist in Oda's mind which basically all of Chopper's appearances in years just low impact "I'm here to heal people".
Franky was already the least popular strawhat in the last poll. It's not all that surprising. He's not typical strong cool badass like the monster trio, or a hot chick like Nami and Robin, or a cute mascot like Chopper. It was always going to be him or Brook. It's more the fact that he's so low that is a shock.
Franky does feel like a character that doesn't seem to appeal to a big audience. He's too old for younger readers, but also too childish for older ones.
Franky plain just hasn't gotten enough to do post skip.
Also, he doesn't check all the popularity criteria, which apparently are A) Handsome B) STRONK and C) important/knows really important people.
Thats the only explanation for how someone like friggin Izo ends up sohigh, which is the kind of thing that makes my brain melt

Woop Slap is neither of those things, yet there he is woopy-slapping Franky away from the Top 29.

Memes count as current activity?
It is an internet poll, after all.
I used to like Franky a lot more before the timeskip too.
But I think that maybe his problem was that he became even more cartoonish and right now he's more of a walking device that serves the crew and the situations when needed than a character, kinda like Chopper, although this one's to a lesser extent.
Franky Shogun is cool but ultimately a mistake imo. His modifications after the timeskip outside the comedy it provided(which has been good) have been underwhelming. Like he basically changed his entire silhouette to get a laser and the rest of the time he is controlling his mech?
I feel like most other mangas would have made sure to give Franky a few more things to be hype about in his arsenal.
Definitely a downgrade compared to stuff like kentaurus that hammer home his weird body. Like with how massive his arms are I was expecting weirdass drill punches or something. Has Franky even done his chain punch since the timeskip? Feels like it's mostly all weaponry.
I'm looking closely at Franky design again and his arms have massive hinges that would allow him to bend them in a 180 degree angle and Oda hasn't used that for anything so far.
I'm happy that Perona is still in the top 25. I'm shocked that she's beating both Franky and Doflamingo. Also I'm happy that Yamato is ranked so high that's almost in the top ten.

Nipple Lights! Also Franky still does have Strong Right. He used it against Senor Pink. He also has rockets in his shoulders and can turn his legs into tank tread. I will admit that we haven't had enough of him post-timeskip, but I think he's been pretty Super every time he's had some focus. Also, one of my favorite gags is Franky being mad that Nami buttoned up his shirt when she was in his body.
Batchee cracking the Top 100 makes it all worth it.
I thought Franky running Big Mom over with his bike was an amazingly badass moment myself. He's definitely among my top three Strawhats. I'm kinda shocked that Brook is so low even though he truly got an amazing showing in Whole Cake Island. But then, look how low Big Mom ended up.
Well I'be been voting Jinbe every day, with some spurts of Bon Kurei and Yamato (and Imepl Down wolves once)… but I think I need to go all in on Noland for the remainder of this thing.
I actually really like Franky despite how underutilised he can be. I think I'll have to give my boy some votes while I still can. It's also pretty surprising not to have Cat Viper appear. I thought he was well-liked in most communities.
Yamato is a breath of fresh air in terms of Oda's usual portrayal of gender. A feminine-looking character that actually fights like a typical Oda male (the Ace association also likely helped). Even the likes of Cavendish and Kikunojo are always portrayed in this stereotypical elegant fashion that's not very different from Oda's typical females.
I can see the appeal regardless if you view Yamato as a man or a woman.
Broadly, I do understand the appeal and the character's potential, I'm just surprised to see so many people going all in based on potential alone, with so little actual screentime to draw on. Personally, I just want a slightly better idea of where Yamato is headed long term before I count them among my a top characters.
But then again, Barolomeo made top ten while Dressrosa was only half done and Reiju was top 20 going into the last third of Tottoland, so I guess it's not the first time a character's really taken off in the polls before their arc was completed. Maybe I'm just overthinking things.
I think the arc not being over is more a plus than a detriment for this thing, tbh. Since then the character is very fresh in people's minds. Specially since Yamato has been featured pretty prominently in the stretch of chapters just before the poll opened.
Although by that logic, I'm surprised Ulti is so low. I really thought she had it in her to be a Perona-like thing.
GrandLineReview(one of the most popular OP youtubers) made a video telling people to vote Wood Slap, just to see how much he could influence the result. Clearly quite a bit.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Yeesh. I just searched his videos and it's a mix of bait and BS. I don't know what's worse, this youtuber or the dumbasses that helped to massage his ego.
Some of the GrandLineReview videos are clickbaity but he does learn from the damage he does through some of the videos he creates. I remember him stating in a
a while back how he changed how he presents a video for his chapter reviews via the video thumbnail and title. GrandLineReview became cognizant of how certain clickbait titles and thumbnails could potentially "spoil" the chapter for readers who haven't read the chapter yet but get notification of his new video in their youtube feed (particularly those not subscribed to his channel).I like some of the GrandLineReview videos as they are quite insightful but I wholeheartedly disagree with his distaste for Sabo. I do agree with the meme 'subscribe button for next nakama'.
I expect the Woop Slap "experiment" to be another of his regrets.
Interesting…

Should've added Grand Fleet members.
Barto, Cabbage, Orlombus and Baby Five
I've been mostly voting Luffy and occasionally Yamato. But now I think I'm gonna move to Franky.
Don´t get the Grandlinereview hatred, bringing an irrelevant character to some high place isn´t something outlandish only he thought of.
Seeing how many curious characters made it temporarily on the daily lists, showed that many tried such shenanigangs.
Nothing to be mad about and some curious characters getting a spot in the top100 is at least something you can talk about.
We saw cases were the winner was a troll character which is way worse.
CatViper not being on the list on the other hand is outrageous and the whole poll should be declared non valid.:ninja:
Ace and Boa still being such fan favourites baffles me, but i enjoy Chopper being relatively low ranked. Yamato could actually push for top10, lol.
My two characters i pushed for made the top 50 but aren´t upsettingly high.
Guess can´t miss the last days of voting.

I guess Neko lost momentum due to being offscreen for most of Wano and being overshadowed by Izo and Marco.
I'm surprised Japan favors Robin over Nami. Finally got some taste there, wonder what convinced them to vote for her.
Should've added Grand Fleet members.
Barto, Cabbage, Orlombus and Baby Five
Added. That post has been updated.
Surprised to see Orlumbus in the top 100 (#61), especially higher than Kaido and Big Mom. Did he also receive the "Woop Slap" treatment/push?
I'm still shocked Kaido is so low. Kaido has a great character design with an imposing presence and has had some nice moments in the recent chapters to showcase how terrifying he is. Lets also not forget to mention that he is a DRAGON!
Did readers want more from Kaido? More destruction? More brutality? More POWER?!
Its a shame the less pretty characters struggle to find a strong following which could be why Nekomamushi and Inuarashi aren't in the top 100. If Oda made their designs more appealing (like Pedro's) would more fans gravitate to them? A buffed up sexy Neko and Inu with manly scars and zinging one-liners could do the trick.
I highly doubt that Robin is more popular than Nami in Japan. There can be a huge amount of people who prefer Nami but are voting for Luffy or Zoro instead. But this (or Franky too) is a good example why they should have gone with another voting system.
Imagine you could have voted for your Top 5 characters with 10 points given to the 1st, 8 to the 2nd and so on. The poll would look a lot different. Quite unfortunate for my boy Franky :(

I don't think that would give more fair or accurate results. For instance, a character that is close to no one's favorite could end up ranking really high if a lot of people gave it at least a 5th spot. That would create bigger distortions IMO.
There's no perfect system but I think there's a reason why Shueisha polls (and pretty much every popularity poll, really) work this way, and I don't see why change it. In fact, they're giving us the rare chance to vote for different characters every day already.
Maybe. Just wanna add that most people like me are just voting for a single character everyday. So this doesn‘t really work like the poll creators might have hoped for.
Either way, no way Franky is really that unpopular right?
It just means that Franky isn't the readers favourite Straw Hat Pirate for many voters. Rather than use the vote on Franky, many end up voting for other Straw Hat members they like more or feel need their vote more (e.g. Sanji).
I'm sure if a group gathers the Franky fans together to fully throw their support behind the Grand Line Terminator his rank would improve over the remaining week left. But by the look of the online votes, seems like the Nami fans are in overdrive focused on the goal of making Nami the #1 best girl in One Piece. I mean what is even up with Europe for the past week.
Robin fans internationally have been showing their support for her after having endured lackluster writing for her by Oda hoping their support for her sends a message to Oda (Robin fans did not like how she was the only SHP present in Dressrosa to not get a proper battle).

No, that's not how that point system works.
I recommend watching Eurovision to see how that type of system works, it's how the winners are ranked.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voting_at_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest
Crazy to see Zoro has a higher score than Luffy in Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Afrika and Oceania.
So if Luffy is to die in the end as some have hypothesized, the actual main character can take over … :P

This just depends on what do you think popularity even means.
Who's more popular, a character who's the absolute favorite of 10 people, or a character who is nobody's favorite but is the second favorite of 50 people?
Although I don't think this matters much in this poll since everybody can vote for all the characters they like if they felt like it in different days. So everyone can split their votes accordingly to how much they like each character.

That‘s actually a pretty good point.
in the end this reveal hacks a bit the results since it interfers with how people would have normally voted (myself included)

Its unlikely to change things much, especially since it doesnt count postcards and the popular character will remain receiving votes in large droves.
So Yamato ended up at 11 overall, which is where I thought they'd be(I predicted top 15) and Japan voted Yamato in at 19? That's not bad at all.
GLR really pulled off that stunt for WoopSlap xD
5 Days left..
Hope Zoro, Nami and Franky will improve their ranks :/
Wait, you want Zoro to be #1?
If its going to happen for any arc, it would be this one.
