This might be southern comfort interfering but this ep was awesome XD
It's the TeamFourStar Thread with DBZ Abridged and Pokemon things

"Yeah, fuck Goku!"
In a nutshell this is how everyone is feeling about Goku in Super.
-
I think they should have really killed Mr Satan, he is as annoying as in the original version.
-
That was unexpected. Liked it much more than last episode.
! So I guess that means they'll definitely do the Buu saga? Makes me wonder what'll happen after that and whether they'll cover any of GT at some point.
! I heard somewhere that Taka was already confirmed to voice Buu.
-

I thought Satan to be a bit fresh air again, to make some funnier moments easier possible.
Dragonball was in his beginnings a gag manga, who highly profited from his funny side. (just think about Muten Roshi)
While Satan is surely most of the time annoying, his scene with him getting to be a friend with Boo i would never want to miss.
But yeah, being the only funny gag character in a series that has gotten way to serious, especially considering it´s beginnings.
In DBZA he doesn´t seem to be a good character to make funnier, when he was originally created to be already funny in the original.
So his new jokes are more or less also redeemed to fall flat.
But Team Four Star has made gold out of otherwise boring characters, so iam still looking forward how they will Satan develop over the course of the story. -
This episode was hilarious.
"I'm more confused than a homeless man under house arrest".

Nope he isn't, they said while they have a voice we will see it when he appears, its supposed to be a big youtuber.
That was unexpected. Liked it much more than last episode.

! Considering how long it has taken them to do the original series I doubt it, its been like 10 years and were still not finished with Cell and these guys are getting older and living (hell Lani has a kid coming in soon if I remember right) so i doubt they will do GT maybe some special but not another series. They will defiantly do BOG and RoF but I think they might wait till super over whenever that is if they ever do it.
-
They said at Anime North they's zero plans for doing Super because the powers that be are being SUPER crazy about pulling things related to it. It's too new. But by the time they actually finish Z years down the line, who knows?
They also don't particularly want to do classic because they'd lose the entire cast.
And no one of like GT so why would they commit years of their lives to doing it? Even crazily abridged those 64 episodes would still take like 15-20 episodes, or closer to 30 at their current rate… and that's just years of work on a project no one will care about. By the time they get through Z years from now who knows what they'll be up to?
-
Nobody liked that new Bardock special either, and GT isn't that long. Especially since mostly skipping the Black Star DB Saga, as the English dub did, doesn't seem that unlikely. I could see them doing three or four specials instead of a full series, with each covering one saga. Kind of like their Kai specials, maybe?
Regarding Super, I'm honestly not sure what to think as they already are somewhat doing it (clips on Twitter).
-
Good episode, better than the last one. The addition of Videl was cute, but man I forgot how bad the animation was sometimes.
-

There's a difference between doing a one off to mock something really bad… and spending that time on a full series.
and GT isn't that long. Especially since mostly skipping the Black Star DB Saga, as the English dub did, doesn't seem that unlikely.
It's long enough. And if they were going to keep milking the brand by doing GT, they'd do GT. Either you don't bother with it, or you do it in full to keep those DB fans happy another couple years. There'd be no real point or satisfaction in just doing it in 2 or 3 videos.
Kind of like their Kai specials, maybe?
The Kai specials only work because they already threw 20 episodes of jokes at the material and they're just regurgitating those jokes. It wouldn't work that well for something new they haven't done yet.
-
They also don't particularly want to do classic because they'd lose the entire cast.
I want them to do a super abridged version of classic Dragon Ball narrated by Perfect Cell.
That and redo all of their pre-Nappa material like they did the first few movies.
-
Well they expressed interest in redoing the Saiyan saga to bring it up to the standard of Frieza onwards so I imagine they'll do that after Buu. Then that'll be it.
-

By classic you mean Dragon Ball right?
-
-
I'd really like to see them do GT… if only to see them fix it.

This post is deleted!

It's only been two months but their fans go insane if it takes more than 4 weeks for a new episode.
-
And the thing is, there's plenty of extra content to hold you over. Lanipator plays video games with Taka and Grant, Masako does Dragon Ball discussions and Super reviews, etc.
-
Meanwhile no one is caring about LittleKuriboh.

Meanwhile no one is caring about LittleKuriboh.
People got used to him doing like two videos a year. And he just had a new video like last week.
And has actually been managing them about every six weeks now that he has an editor doing the video stuff, which more productive than he has been in years.
-
And also hasn't been as funny.
BTW, speaking of TFS content, the tahakata101 dnd stream is very good.
-
So I saw the video and I just wanted to bring this up. While it seems like DBZ Abridged may not be in danger I'm concerned that that incident with Toei at a big anime con may have been TFS on their radar. Even though they are saying "hiatus" does anyone think the situation may be a little more serious than that?

I don't. They said personal reasons. I think they would have said otherwise.
-
Watched the video, I'll have my revenge on Grant.

Taka may be the funniest member.

Mark Remark is much better than YGO Abridged and I hope he dedicates most of his work time to that.
-
Lani did clarify in the comment section that while they are on hiatus from releasing episodes, they are still continuing to produce them(or at least the season finale, as he stated).
Does make me wonder if they will call it quits on this after the Cell saga. They have a good point to stop, and the other option is continue to finish the Buu saga. I'm sure they'd like to cover the Buu saga, however if it stands in their way of being an actual dubbing company I can see why they would.
At the end of the day they're fans that have gotten into the industry by working super hard and honing their craft, so they deserve a bit of slack on this.
Really sad seeing the comments on that video though. You have people saying "Why do TFS plays when you can make DBZA, you're just choosing not to do it" while completely ignoring the fact that it's almost all Kaiser doing DBZA, with Taka and Lani writing. TFSPlays has people like Grant and Kirran and those videos take very little editing compared to abridged.
-
Eh, I wouldn't mind at all if they stopped at the end of the Cell saga, or, at the very least, took a hiatus until they were reasonably sure they could do the Buu saga at a consistent rate.
-
They took a break after Namek. They could again after Cell.
-
Is there a point in doing an abridged of the Buu saga? It was already a parody on its own.
-

What happened? I generally don't follow con stuff.
-
There's an untapped mine of comedy that is Shin and Kibito's general existence.
-

They need some time to do Bojack anyway. A six month break would be understandable.

Shin deserves all the mockery they can manage.
-
Seems like they went more detail on there Pateron
-
Really hoping that the cause of hiatus is nothing serious. Between Buu himself, Fusion, Majin Vegeta, and Gohan being a young adult, there's plenty of stuff for them to work with in the Buu saga, and it'd be a shame for them to stop after Cell.
@RoboBlue:What happened? I generally don't follow con stuff.
IIRC They were selling DBZA merch with Dumplin (their OC Xenoverse character) on it at a con, and ended up getting a pink slip from Toei demanding that they stop selling just those pieces of merch. Lani tweeted a picture of him with the slip in a comical manner, and a bunch of fans went apeshit, harassing Toei on social media and whatnot while repeating "FUCK TOEI". TFS were horrified at this, and Lani ended up making an apology video, saying that they have no ill will towards Toei, and that the tweet was a mistake.

Speaking of that, I just went to watch the Summerslam one. It seems like the WWE blocked it on copyright grounds.
-

Because the Buu saga was full of good stuff. Cell is really straightforward and dour and hard to have fun with cause plot. All the wacky shit that goes on during Buu would be great jumping off points.
Great Saiyaman alone they'd have sooo much fun with, and that's the start of it. Also really curious to see how they handle Videl. ANd how incompetant Shin is… fusions... all the Buu forms... Vegeta being Vegeta... there's plenty of reason to do Buu saga.
Mostly it just sucks that its so long it would probably take them like 6 years to get through... but i imagine a lot of the Saiyaman and tourney stuff can be condensed.

Yeah, I'm honestly more excited for filler tournament and Buu than for Cell. There's at least one whole episode of Buu that's just the Z-Fighters waiting in line, and I can't wait to see them shred that.
-
The Dende/Videl rivalry alone could fill up multiple episodes worth of entertainment.
It makes me think that TFS must have set up Dende's Gohan attraction so long ago in preparation of that particular arc (and is probably the case knowing them).
-
I had a feeling that once TFS got enough experience to actually do this stuff legit, they would walk away from DBZA. While it is on "haitus" (probably because Taka has the emotional resistance of a piece of paper) I do hope it comes back soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if they put this to bed after the Cell saga.
-
I take that the jokes of the Buu saga could be improved since Toriryama's wacky sense of humor was already rusty by the time, but this would be still making jokes out of joke characters and events.
Just like there isnt that much of a difference between Abridged's Satan and the real one.
-
Bad time to be an abridger I guess. 1kidsentertainment(the guy that edits Little Kuriboh's videos now) has a Pokemon abridged series that just got entirely removed off Youtube with multiple strikes. Apparently they can only counterclaim two videos at a time to re-upload them so he has no immediate plans to upload them period.
-
Cell Saga finale is confirmed to be another 3 part episode.
-
Well, I do remember the finale lasting quite a lot.
-
-
I'm not surprised in the slightest I have a feeling the recent Toei crackdown has made them take a long hard look at the future of their work.
While I am grateful for them being upfront in saying it's not this year. I think this was a long time coming.
Frankly, these are a bunch of wannabe VAs who came from the golden age of abridging, who after getting the mainstream attention (both the good and the bad) they (rightly at least in the good sense) deserve, probably don't want to hitch their potential future careers to something that has been in murky legal territory. Coupled with Youtube cracking down on videos, Japan being god damn Japan, and Takahata having the emotional endurance of a fucking paperclip, it is not surprising to see DBZA hitting the back burner.
I'll be shocked if they continue past Cell. They've already stated they don't care for the arc, and if this Hiatus tells anything, is that their interests have already started to drift to other more original material now that they've got the money and attention.
If they bring it to the end of the Cell saga, I'll be OK with them putting it to bed after that.
But seriously Takahata, I've seen your twitter. Pull your head of your god damn ass already.
It sucks with creators just stop creating shit we love, but them the breaks
