@onemoment:
Hey, I don't follow Nigel Farage, but general consensus is that he's a dick right? Well, yeah, if I only had today to learn, I think he's a dick. Turns out he's tossing the idea of Muslim Interment Camps around.
Thankfully no one seems on board with him, but yeah regardless, how dare he.
Farage is from UKIP, which is far-right so yeah.
THOUGH, I have to "defend" Farage here slightly. He's talking about internment in a sense that British people will think of and not in the way Americans will think of.
We hear "Internment + Muslims" and think about Japanese internment during WW2. Which isn't what Farage is suggesting.
For Brits internment will bring to mind Northern Ireland, where internment was a policy there which no was not rounding up an entire ethno-religious group into camps like in the American example.
However it was also a shitty terrible thing, just a much lesser shitty terrible thing. Basically the British government started imprisoning IRA suspects, nevermind trials and ongoing investigations, just straight up jailing them during the whole process on the basis of being a suspect. Yeah, pretty awful.
But aside from being awful…Farage is also mega stupid to suggest it. Because it was one of the major factors that made the Catholic population in Northern Ireland start supporting the IRA in large numbers. It straight up made them feel all alone and abused as a population, who couldn't trust the British government authorities at all. And so they started turning to support the terrorist nationalists, both in spirit and literally.
Doing this with the British Muslim population would almost certainly do exactly the same thing, and increase radicalization and terrorism, not decrease it.
Though one does wonder if a bastard like Farage would welcome increasingly open clash with the entire British Muslim population...

@sggupta:
So Pentagon is on a huge firefighting mode now over the Qatar thing.There are reports that a hacking of the Qatar state run media,which is supposed to have "caused" the entire thing,is "reported" to may have been caused by Russians.
Yes,because POTUS tweeting and almost threatening and defaming Qatar does not exist,and that there wasn't already strained relationships between them.
Trump tweeted after things were going sour, not before. He is making things worse but is not a cause.
Russia being involved is not bizarre either, Russia is an oil economy just like most of the Gulf countries. They are economic rivals among other things (and rivals in Syria militarily). Trying to create deeper divides between them makes sense. And yes naturally they would exploit the biggest pre-existing wedge. Qatar having the gall to actually be an individual nation and not a Saudi stooge like Bahrain.
And would you look at that co-incidence,Qatar is kicked out and ISIS attacks Iran Parliament.nothing strange going on at all.
What connection are you suggesting here.
And i think Iran has 1 neighbour who has plenty of experience attacking it's neighbours parliaments.Who is seemingly being very stupid
Saudi Arabia isn't going to advance any goals by having a very minor ISIS attack occur in Iran. Heck if anything that hurts its goals, which are chiefly based around isolating Iran and trying to get the US to be as hostile to them as possible.
Having an ISIS attack if anything creates sympathy in the West for Iran.
