Brulée is not missing as far as everyone knows, she went to the Mirror World on her own with a group of other members of BM Pirates to have a feast and cook their prisoners. There is nothing wrong with them not being in touch with the rest of the crew yet, as far as people know they are just doing their thing.
Chapter 853: Not Here!!!

Okay yeah, you're right. But Luffy didn't go to that meeting place to avoid Big Mom's crew. He went there because he felt it had a meaning, which is sort of lost on me, because Luffy only spent one or two chapter on that spot. Would have been one thing if there had been a longer buildup and we got a sense of meaning for that location in itself. It's a storytelling structure issue for me.
There's that, too. It would make sense to go back to "the Spot of the Promise" if that place had something special, or was a far away location where more stuff is going to happen and it would be easy to miss each other, such as if they were going to meet in Wano. But here the destined spot is barely a couple miles from the castle gates. Heck, Sanji can probably see it from his bedroom and so can everyone in the castle who'll be looking for Luffy. Go figure…
@.access:
Honestly, while your initial point made sense - Luffy going around and suddenly deciding to leave the castle made sense - until someone pointed out it was because he found out Sanji was aware of Sugar's true character (I also thought he was just acting stupidly until the said user pointed that out), now it feels like you just can't admit your initial assumption was wrong and just keep changing the focus of the complaint until you find something that actually holds.
What ? No. I know the story has an explanation for all of the above, and I did understand on the first reading why Luffy wants to return to that spot. I'm just not buying it. There are several aspects of this arc that I do not enjoy because they go against my expectations as a reader of what should make sense. That includes Luffy's antics about waiting for Sanji in that spot and the mirror world events . Anyone can and should disagree if these parts of the story make sense to them, but that won't necessary change how I perceive it. I just don't see a point in going about the same frustrations over and over again just because someone else disagreed.

So paracimias can be zoans to? I thought Pedro would have an harder time with Tomago but it seems he is a fair bit better considering how it went. Big Mom's crew really have a thing for not looking like who they really are.
It seems Big Mom has had her superstone since before Roger became king. I guess back then she thought it was impossible to read and got fooled. Her solution was to breed a translator. I wonder if anyone from the 3 eye tribe can read the stones or just a few chosen ones. More interestingly I wonder if Pudding is just bluffing about her ignorance.
Luffy left the castle. I was not expecting that.
Anyway Big Mom is right on one thing. Her actions today will prove if she's nothing but a strong fool.
-
But Big Mom said that she got someone that will develop that same power, not similar.
The same power that comes from the eye. Last time I checked eyes are meant to see, not hear.
-
Cover Page: these guys are too much.
HOLY SHIT, is Big Mom sitting on top of Prometheus? That's awesome. If Brooke got the copy, I hope it was of all three Poneglyphs. Although, if the other two are going to be used somehow, I hope it is related to the Ancient Weapons. I wonder whom could make use of it the most out there. Brooke is pretending to be passed out, what type of plan does he have? Instead of going to the prison library to find out about the commotion she is going higher up to her room.
The Big Mom flashback is going to be beautiful. Pudding's acting is so bad, what is she scheming.
Did not think that the Tamago fight was going to be turned into a gag, I love it. Count Chicken?! He is out of the fight too. I wonder how many absentees will there be in the wedding tomorrow.
Such a great chapter, I am glad they are still gunning for the escape, now with Nami updating Chobro they will be able to make another plan, probably a wedding crash.
I get this vibe that the wedding is going into chaos and when everyone reunites with Sanji they all ask where is Luffy, and Reiju makes it clear. I am so happy Luffy is going there, it just shows how strongly Luffy believes in keeping up with his word. Just a chapters back he told Sanji that he wanted to do this alone but everyone came knowing how dangerous it would be. Chopper told Luffy he was fine and Jimbe is with Nami. The crew knows that Luffy is only focusing on Sanji and that they have to focus on everything else, that's teamwork.

@Shobu:
If Pudding awakens the power of the Three-eyed tribe, then she should 'see' something such as will, messages, time of creation, intentions or auras.
It will give her the power to hear the voice of all things. It seems that is an innate power those with the 3 eye tribe have. Where as with normal people it is a super rare ability…that literally only a few people probably even have like Luffy/Momo...
-
Damn it, then what is the link between mantra/observation haki and the voice of all things?
-
@Tamiel:

What is so funny about a man with long legs turning into a demonic bird?
-
I hope Count Chicken returns as Duke Nugget

Gonna post this just in case:

Big Mom is just gonna tell one of her subordinates to take Brook to the library and then nami and Jinbei are gonna save him. Maybe the mirror world team will look for him and find him too. And as pointed out the rubbings r most definitely in his head.
I don't understand what you guys mean by the 'spot doesn't have meaning' Luffy literally screamed that he was gonna stay there till Sanji figured it out. Not only that but he fought an army while he was exhausted to just to stay there. Its got meaning and no doubt Sanji thought about it when he said "Luffy…" I don't think Luffy is gonna have to wait long.
Kage I hope that is that many!!! That would be hilarious.
-
I liked the chapter. Oda's just focusing on Luffy's hunger to show Sanji's new cooking skills.
-
The same power that comes from the eye. Last time I checked eyes are meant to see, not hear.
In naruto you can do any thing with the eye
Im surprised he didn't add eye lasers -
so i guess thats why Big moms soul fruit is called soru =english soul instead of tama =japanese soul
-
I'm curious to know why didn't Big Mum use Pudding father's power
-
I'm curious to know why didn't Big Mum use Pudding father's power
Pudding flashback will reveal all!
-
These two are ruining my life
-
Funny how Oda shows Reiju in panties and holds on the shot for a second.
For Mashima, that would have been a multiple page spread with six different angles.
Other than that, interesting chapter. I hope Oda isn't dragging this out with Sanji.
-
I'm starting to think Brook separated his soul from his body and took the Poneglyph rubbing with him.
This chapter he looked like an empty vessel..no reaction from him at all..Ditto what I was also thinking. He was so determined to get the copy of the Poneglyph before facing big mom that I just dont believe he is captured without doing anything resourceful. Must have taken a quick copy like putting soap on a key but this time its his soul he used.
-
I guess Luffy will learn about his VOAT and demonstrate it in front of Big Mom, I guess this will make Big Mom interested into recruiting Luffy.
Puddings father prolly got tantrum victim. -
I miss longer chapters, Count chicken still has to demonstrate the upgrade he gets whenever he transforms.
It's too bad he's not fighting Sanji, I'd like to see Count Chicken transformed into Chicken A’ La King. Damn! Now I'm hungry.
-

What is so funny about a man with long legs turning into a demonic bird?
No one has time for that shit, that's why he got bombed.
I put this in the notions thread, but what are the chances that Pudding used her ability on Lola, and to what end?
-
I wonder if Brook can hide stuff inside his bone.
-
I like the chapter - that is, except the first pages. Because why in the hell tells Big Mom Brook that much crucial information?!
There's absolutely no reason to tell that stuff in-universe.
-
Maybe Soul King commanded some soldiers and got them to make a copy that's hidden somewhere where it's easy to grab. Could even be that Brook managed to make a copy and it's somewhere in the belongings that the soldiers checked because he can control them to some extent or something. Or maybe it's just inside his head like the shell in the past. I'm pretty sure he has a copy in some form.
-

Nope he couldn't make it, if that's what were you trying to say

Can't see it's possible.. it's pointless anyway, they might either take down BM in this are or they'll back again to do so and when that happen they can get the poneglyph itself
-
Enjoyed the chapter. Pedro was awesome. Luffy got away from BM for now at least. And Sanji's hopefully going to get a move on already.

Why is King Baum good? He is a tree.
And that's before getting into his mastery of arborrent puns.

But why do Big Mom needs Pudding that much? Her dad should have 3 eyes as well and maybe he had the powers she seeked…
And now Pudding seems strange as well again...
And really want to know what Big Mom's hat can do.
PS
Sanji for god's sake start to move!!!Yup but from what I've gathered, he's not blood related so not considered loyal / as valuable as a child.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Luffy said so, the journey is done if sanji doesn't come. Mainly because he would starve to death in a few hours.
The order was "we aren't fighting her".
Uneventful chapter, and this new tribe is just too convenient. Could it be that Lola was going to marry a triclops instead of a giant?
Maybe, but it's time to start getting details about what happened during the timeskip… Chapter 600 was ~6 years ago and we know nothing.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
So that's why Pudding was so important. If she awakens that power, Big Mom can make her move to find Raftel…interesting..
If the voice of all things allow you to read Poneglyph why didn't Luffy do so back on Zou?Is that so? It felt like she would be able to go read the other road Poneglyph, and there is still one stone missing.

This may have been true early on, however now we know the dice were loaded right from the start and all hell broke loose, I would say the job is to get everyone back safely. Brooks was captured, Sanji is still not out, Nami is somewhere in enemy territory, the mirror world team may need help at some point, and Big Mom's troops aren't trying to make prisoners anymore. In light of all this, I find it irresponsible on Luffy's part to just continue as if nothing had changed and passively wait in his "promise spot" while the rest of the crew all take great risks for his and Sanji's sake.
Well, that's the thing. Yes, none of them are alone and in imminent peril - save maybe Brooks who is about to get his own page in the book of freaks. However, everyone is nevertheless in enemy territory with Big Mom's forces hunting them : in the long run, none of them are safe. I have a hard time accepting that Luffy would just go back to his starving spot, where Sanji has zero chance to return to over the next twelve hours anyway. Is this supposed to make him cool? I would much prefer to see him keep spreading chaos, try to stop the wedding (if he knows it's a deadly trap meant to kill his friend, where's the sense in letting it take place ?) or try to regroup with the rest of the crew. Be proactive.
Thats the crux of the matter. Its not so much that Luffy is letting his crewmembers take care of themselves, he's done that countless times. But then its always been because he charged ahead with some other objective -"You do that while I do this". Here, Luffy runs off in order to…make zero contribution to resolving the situation whatsoever, while his entourage is entagled with a top 4 pirate crew who beat and captured Luffy himself a few hours earlier.
Weirder still, the only thing thats' changed from the last time Luffy waited for Sanji is that he now knows for a fact that a murderplot is hatched against the vinsmokes. Luffy also knows that Sanji knows of this plot, yet somehow he places the onus entirely on Sanji to leave, in stark contrast to what happened with Robin. Indeed it seems Luffy considers Sanji capable of leaving any time, despite Zeff explicitly being a hostage; I guess Luffys claim that he'll just go to East Blue and save the Baratie is supposed to cover for that, but that just makes Luffy seem moronically naïve, like he doesn't actually grasp the concept of what is happening.
This may of course all be upended by twists and reveals later. For now, we just have a chapter that isn't so much bad, as it is just dissapointing. Soooooooo much corner-cutting.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Why's that though?
New shortcuts to Poneglyph reading popping up 800+ chapters in devalues Robins' uniqueness, and overall just seems cheap.
-
Why's that though?
Nothing pointing to their existence and extremely convinient to read that was unreadable not so long ago.
-
I wonder if Kaido also have a trump card for reading a poneglyph.
-
I wonder if Kaido also have a trump card for reading a poneglyph.
He seems to expect Momo to be his trump card lol. Actually, he has the Voice of All Things too… Wow, that aligned better than I thought since I was originally only joking about how Momo doesn't actually know how to read or write Poneglyphs like past Kozukis.
-
I'm not too thrilled with Pudding potentially being able to read poneglyphs, but I'll wait to see how it plays out before getting worked up about it.
On that note… does the voice of all things allow one to fully comprehend the writings? I believe the answer is no... so if Pudding has something similar it wouldn't be so bad.
-
I'm not so much annoyed by Pudding reading the poneglyphs, but more so this voice of all things being able to "read" them. If Luffy can hear what the poneglyph can say, then Robin has lost all purpose in the crew.
Let's say they get to raftel and robin is unconcious, he can just hear everything that is written on the rio poneglyph, he tells the crew what it is saying, someone else in the crew writes it down because Luffy is too stupid to understand it. Job is done, they now all know the history without Robin playing any part. -

yeah, as i said luffy will be too stupid to understand it. But people like Nami, Chopper, Sanji in the crew should be more than smart enough. Robin isn't the only one. Infact, wasn't Nami the one understanding the red poneglyph on zou and Robin asked her?
-
So far reading the Mangastream chapter and Big Mom says -
"Leave alone the Tamatebako… Even a rubbing of the Poneglyph... […] If someone were to make off with those things and find their way into Raftel again…"
Is the Tamatebako important for Raftel?
-

Maybe only people with knowledge of history will interpret the rio ponegylph correctly, I don't see Oda making Robin useless after all the drama about her being the only survivor of Ohara.
-

Nope. Robin translated and Nami interpreted as coordinates.
-
Nope. Robin translated and Nami interpreted as coordinates.
Yeah. but soon Luffy can "translate" and Nami will interpret. Luffy hearing it and telling the crew sounds like it would be the same as Robin reading it to the crew.
-
@Daz:

We've known Roger could understand the Poneglyphs that way for a really long time now. Plus it's not really a shortcut; Three Eyes are rare and others who can hear the Voice are even rarer. Plus they can't use the ability instantaneously, Three Eyes have to work to achieve it and Luffy being unable to understand Zunisha on Zou shows that it doesn't just instantly happen. It's like Devil Fruits, which were incredibly rare in the blues but quite common in the New World. Now that we're in the world's wildest sea, there's bound to be a wider variety of traits and skill sets in its residents. Especially in a Yonko crew like Big Mom's that actively prioritizes diversity of skills.
-

Rayleig also said it that hearing the voices aren't perfect and could be misunderstood.
Thay wouldn't put that scene and just change the outcome later on with some cheap magic power. This isn't Bleach.

I think there's a chance that both Momo and Shirahoshi have limitations in their ability. Momo can only comunicate with Zunisha, and Shirahoshi only with Sea Kings. While Luffy and Roger can hear the Voice of All Things. Of course i'm not implying Momo is another weapon. And, if what Big Mom said about the third eye race hearing the VoAT it's true, i'm not sure i would like this fated ability becoming more common than how already is, i'd prefer that Momo and Shirahoshi's powers would only be limited to what they've been portrayed.
yeah, as i said luffy will be too stupid to understand it. But people like Nami, Chopper, Sanji in the crew should be more than smart enough. Robin isn't the only one. Infact, wasn't Nami the one understanding the red poneglyph on zou and Robin asked her?
@Daz:

That was Road Poneglyph, being a cartographer is only natural she could understand it once Robin translated it.
I don't think it's only a matter of intelligence, but also of historical knowledge and life experience across the world after having witnessed many cultures, nations and what the WG did to each of them, and most of all having read all the other Poneglyphs. No matter how genius you are, without a vast and deep knowledge of the world it's very likely you're not going to understand the deeper meaning of the Rio Poneglyph even if you had the translation of it. My theory is that this deeper meaning of the Rio PG are the ideals themselves of the Ancent Kingdom, the PGs only report history, but the historians who read it are the ones who have to interpret the conclusion on why those events occurred 800 years ago, who wronged? Whose ideals were faulty? What political/social ideals would have make things better? Figuring out this is not something that can be done only with sheer intelligence and the translation of the ancent text. That's why nor Nami or Chopper could do it.So, if someone who can "hear" Poneglyph just popped up now it doesn't undervalue Robin's uniqueness in my opinion, on the contrary only confirms it even more.

Great chapter Here
Awesome stuff with pedro and great comedy, also like the sanji luffy stuff
