Man, that was a really disheartening read. BLM's representative better have had spoken out against it.
Some people with/in support of BLM have condemned the riots, but they keep happening. It's not exactly fair to blame BLM entirely for them, but we can't ignore them either… I don't really know what to say there.
There's plenty of evidence that nonwhites are targeted, arrested, assaulted, and killed by police at a disproportionate rate. To be willfully ignorant of that evidence at this point is a personal problem that only makes matters worse for the rest of the country.
This probably has something to do with some other statistics about them being more likely to commit violent crimes and (I imagine, though I don't know if there are any statistics about this) more likely to not listen to police officers when confronted.
That's basically the official reason, yes. The FBI continually provides arrest data by race, and a shockingly disproportionate number of black people are arrested for violent crimes. The problem is… law enforcement maintains that these are legitimate arrests, and as more evidence is being provided to justify arrests, many of their claims appear to be true. We know for a fact that black people aren't just born stupid or violent, so clearly there are other factors here.
That's where the evidence runs out and speculation begins. Is there a massive conspiracy between the FBI and every police department in the country to unfairly arrest more black people? Are poor people in general arrested for more violent crimes? How is more violence the solution to any of this?
The big question we really should be asking is, why do the police kill so many people regardless of race?
