Sugar: As punishment, I will force you to eat this Poisonous ball you all tried to feed me.
Usopp: Ughh.. Go ahead! Knock yourself out.
And Sugar literally did…. hahahaha

Im still laughing at Usopp. He obtained it all in the form of allies in this chapter. Just look at this page, it's screaming "Fame, Power, Wealth".
Soooo, Kyros wound wasn't even his leg, it was that one Riku gave him? That little bleeding? .___.
In One Piece only the wounds that has emotional meaning leave a scar. It's quite romantic.
How many of you people will bet against this…
Next chapter will be either about Sanji or Zoro vs Pica...anyway something where Oda won't show the toys turned back to normal.
Sounds plausable. Though im not even sure anymore Straw Hats will even be the ones to beat down the Dofla family. There's just too many players who want them down now.
Another thing im not so sure anymore; will they even get beaten in this arc?
@Thousand:
The subversion with the Tabasco was funny and clever and made as much sense as Usopp shooting it into her mouth just…
the setup for it wasn't there, Oda was really building it up to be more conventional Usopp shoots it into her mouth with pure skill and strategy.
I dunno, I think it would have worked a lot more better if we actually saw Usopp's struggle against Trebol so it feels like there was some pay off to all that build up? Keep everything about the ending the same, just give us a few pages of Usopp's fight.
In the end, it's not Oda is incapable of telling a good story, just his hang-up about speeding things up is hurting his story.
Seeing Usopps evidently harsh struggle offscreened, his iconic hammer just tossed in the background, is incredibly saddening to me. Under different circumstances I would have loved this gag, but after Usopp regressed into total scumbag mode the last few weeks, a competent win in the face of adversity was due.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Do you remember what his dream is? We just had a two year timeskip in which everyone trained to be stronger so that they wouldnt fail the crew again. First serious fight and Usopp not only runs like a coward but wins, by lucking out.
But see, Usopps dream = having character development, so it can only happen in the last few chapters of the story.
Which is why him being more of a cowardly joke than in even east blue is perfectly acceptable.
That could likely be the case. But it is the first time we saw her and the only time. Where is she now? Has she been turned into a toy too?
she must be midwife man . dont overthink it

I have the feeling Oda changed his mind last minute. Making Ussop epic this early on in the NW would mean having to think of ways of either nerfing him again or being more creative on his character development - trying to hit all the high notes for the next 10 years is going to be difficult as is. Instead of giving us a heroic Ussop who despite the odds succeeds, he gives us a gag climax.
Not really a fan of the ending,i konw it was to be expected from onepiece, but i would have preferred to see some ingenuous trick frok usopp instead of just dumb luck and a dofla executive scared by a face.Oda seems to have lost the taste for a good fight, since nowadays they are all off-screen….that or he does not have the creativity anymore to create lots of different moves for every new fruit like in the past.
the flasback was ok,but since i notoriously have an heart made of stone, the touching part was wasted on me.
The woman in the birth of becca panel was probably just the obstetrician who helped scarlet to give birth to becca,or do you think that king riku, kyros or a child viola were able to assist her?
As to how people now know that becca is the grandaughter of king riku,i think dofla just spilled the beans of that, just to add some suffering to becca,s private hell
Anyway, now that sugar is down, the real battle can begin,so i'm not complaining
@The:
Everything about this scenario was set up to have Usopps skillset save the day. Small target, dangerous at close range? Usopp is the only fighter around? Target needs to eat a tabasco ball? It was absolutely tailor made for Usopp to win legitimately, showing actual skills and competency.
And maybe that is the exact reason why Oda subverted expectations to surprise you with something totally left-field. The set-up was there, with the unpredictable pay-off. Keeps it fresh.
@John:
I am so disappointed in Usopp
How could he have beat Trebol + Sugar alone.
Seeing the scene again and again, I think that the smell that comes out of ussop's mouth is what made Sugar to faint. Sugar was too close to Ussop and got a taste of the tatabasco.
So Usopp lost a tooth? Coz if that exagerated face really happened as it was shown and even affected the plot by rendering Sugar out out of shock…
Rereading the chapter…yeah the gag ending would have really worked if we just saw Usopp's fight. Just three-four pages would have been enough then you can do everything the same.
Or if Oda really wanted to keep the pace going, he shouldn't have Usopp act like such a douche the last few weeks, that frees you up a bunch of pages for fleshing out other things!
The worst part is that this moment is what turns around the entire battle against Doflamingo...and that's all it was...sigh.
I mean overall Dressrosa is still one of the best arcs Oda has done in a while but these last couple of chapters have hurt it, hopefully it will turn around now that shit has hit the fan.
Classic OP gag ending, I personally loved it.
Great flashback with a good amount gone through in a minimal amount of pages.
Good ol' Burgess somehow isn't getting stomped by everybody's favourite super Sabo…Wiihahahaha!!!!
Also, m'boy Diamante is such a deliciously evil big bastard, outstanding.
Maybe Sabo's intention is to deal damage to the colossium as much as possible so that it can destroy the underground port
And maybe that is the exact reason why Oda subverted expectations to surprise you with something totally left-field. The set-up was there, with the unpredictable pay-off. Keeps it fresh.
But the set-up for it wasn't there, story-telling isn't just about subverting expectations for the sake of having a twist, you need to integrate it into the story via buildup and foreshadowing. If Oda had cut out all the Usopp douchiness, it would have been fine. If he had shown Usopp fight a little, it would have been fine. He didn't do either and it just comes off like he wasn't sure how he was going to write this character arc and he tried to have it both ways.
And maybe that is the exact reason why Oda subverted expectations to surprise you with something totally left-field. The set-up was there, with the unpredictable pay-off. Keeps it fresh.
It was only Set Up by the extrapolation of us readers. It wasn't truly set up in the story; then there'd have been clues like "Tabasco ball? Thats right up my alley!", or Usopp trying and failing to shoot her, something like that. From the instant it was brought up, Usopp never displayed the slightest familiarity, nor any reaction at all, to the concept of "Get villain to eat tabasco ball".
There wasn't even a "that reminds me of something"
As a joke, it doesn't come across as "Psyche! Fooled you!", and more like no one (read: Oda) really remembered Usopps history with Tabasco.
What the heck happened? I was too distracted by "Curos" and Panda's constant insistence on this "Trevor" guy to know what the heck happened to Sugar.
I do expect Mingo to flee DressRosa with most of his crew intact.
My view on the DressRosa Arc is to introduce Luffy to the New World and for him to gain plenty of allies to be able to give him support in fighting the future Yonkou fleets and be part of his future armada in the war against The World Government.
I really appreciated the flashback (which was almost never the case before), but the ending was just… lame.
I mean - o, it's Usopp's way to solve things, I even laughed at it. But man, to be that short !
This fight was crucial, a milestone in the Dressrosa ark's plot, and it could have been exploited so much more, especially to develop Usopp's character after the timeskip !
I am really disappointed, especially when I compare this fight to the one with Perona.
(I hoped to see Sogeking u_u)
That wasn't a flashback, it was more of a summary of a flashback. Oda is off-screening and cutting so much content, Dressrosa feels like an abridged version of the original.
If you'll look closely at that panel where Franky is down…you will see that there are 3 major officers in that panel. So he was one against 3 officers and looks like hundreds of other people. So I think Franky knew he was gonna get beat up pretty bad but he was ready for it according to his words.
I have to agree with Thousand Lion-Chan and the others in which the ending really didn't work for me. The rest of the chapter felt a little rushed too, but maybe that's just me.
The set up in the arc was really, really good but since the actual battle has started is where I think the arc is at its worst.
Loved the chapter and loved the ending. Only point of criticism is that the flashback was a little too short.
How could he have beat Trebol + Sugar alone.
He could, and should have beaten sugar only. He was capable on doing that, but he ran away and when he finally decided to man up, he attacked trebol instead. That's how he lose it. This kind of illogical and inefficient way of how the stories went we've already had it on OP for so many times, and I always think it's acceptable. Like after this, we know that all those toys who have faith in usopp actually get their expectations fulfilled and usopp would gain a lot of respect from them. I mean, they're not seeing that the fight that saved their destinies ended with such gag..
But well, honestly this time I expected better scenario than this. What we have now was OK, but I think Oda could do it much better. Really.
How could he have beat Trebol + Sugar alone.
Duno, but the thing is ever since we have come back from the time skip I haven't really seen this guy go full out. We have seen some of his new tricks but I personally feel that him and Nami are two characters that haven't shown much, so this would have been a good opportunity for that.

Instead, he just lucks out, its a completely passive "win". Its like if Rebecca won the tournament if everyone else slipped and fell into the water.
But I guess the face was funny.
It's was no longer tailor made when Trebol, an executive officer, Sugar's bodygard, someone who will give any of the the monster trio a good fight was in the picture.
Why does all these Usopp apologist keep forgetting about Trebol?

There was no chance to attack Sugar, Trebol threw a ship to prevent that and when he came back, Trebol will NEVER allow him to attack Sugar. None of his shots will reach Sugar while Trebol is present.
So now Usopp has his 8000 followers!!
All hail Usopp sama and his brave adventures!!
Why didn't Sugar turn Usopp into a toy?
Neat Robin cover.
Most of the chapter focused on Kyros's flashback, which was…...eh, I dunno. I can't be the only one who thought it had abrupt transitions (Kyros and Scarlet falling in love -> her funeral??), which kinda threw me off. I did like the flashback as a whole, since it gets you more invested in Kyros's plight, his connection to Rebecca, and makes you root for him. But.....maybe it could've used better pacing.
Back in the present, the tournament continues as Sabo and Burgess continue to duke it out, while Diamante continues to taunt Rebecca over her mother's death (ouch)
Then we cut to Usopp and the others, where despite the dwarves' plea, Usopp is bloodied and battered pretty hard. Then Sugar feeds the pellet to him and.....something very random happens, cue Perona-face vault for Sugar. What? That completely caught me off guard…..and not exactly in a "whoa what a twist" kinda way.
I....feel so confused by this chapter.
Gladius is about to get fodderized by Kyros in the next chapter.
So will Robin get her chance to shine or will Trebol get gangbanged?
I give this one a 3/5.
A good chapter with a shitty ending. Seriously, all that build up just for a gag? Not cool, Oda, not cool at all. :(
So will Robin get her chance to shine or will Trebol get gangbanged?
This is ambiguous :P

I don't know, maybe I like to clinge on to any hope I can find, but I found Meh's way of thinking last chapter's discussion thread to have some solid reasoning behind it.
Usopp might not have had a regression, just that, in his mind, he was "coerced" to act against overwhelming odds by a bunch of (extremely cute and kind-spirited) dwarves that, in fact, kinda. . .kidnaped him and Robin? and he had to lie his way out, or be stripped of all their belongings and left for themselves on Green Bit. Also, Usopp has been acting this very lie all this time to keep the situation rolling, so yeah, might be he never even considered the Tontatta's his true comrades.
Of course, for all of this to truly work Oda should've put the emphasis on this fact with Usopp's internal monologues instead of the thousand "I'm scared, I'm out, I'm scared, I'm out" scenes we got, which makes us think that he just dumped the dwarves out of fear instead of "they kidnaped me to begin with, serves them right".
And I don't dislike Usopp being defeated against a logia user with super strength and an overpowered toy making fruit user all on his own that are part of the, possibly, strongest Shichibukai's crew. It's a sticky situation (got it? got it?) where equal amounts of people would be calling it shitty writing if Oda let Usopp defeat on his own two of the highest ranked members of Doffy's family. Someone pointed out the Jabra scenario and I agree; Usopp got steamrolled in a matter of seconds against him. That's what happens when Usopp fights someone who's on a complete different league than him. Yeah, I know, there were other options aside from defeating them both. . .
Still, yeah, Oda, show the fucking struggle. It seems Usopp hold out magnificiently to the point of losing consciousness, which is pretty hardcore, that must have been quite the fight. . .but when we're having the 15th off-paneled scene since the time skip it's all getting a bit depressing.
I still believe in Oda's ability to tell the story, he still has that obsession over details as shown during the last chapters, he still can make a 18 page chapter feel like a 28 page chapter, he still can create some effective drama with some genuine emotion, but it seems like he doesn't consider fights or exciting scenarios for entertaining scenes important or worth diving into with full attention and fanfare anymore.
Again, the arc's climax will tell what it's gonna be.
So will Robin get her chance to shine or will Trebol get gangbanged?
Not this again. People fail to understand the Strawhat, no way Robin is beating a top officer.
No way will Oda make other 2 top officers be taking down by likes of Zoro(Pica), Bartolomeo/Rebecca(diamanté) and Trebol taken down by Robin. Just nope.
Dellinger is waiting for Robin at the entrance.
Frankys face is so fucked up, he looks like the Street Fighter 2 continue screen, the run was bound to end man but you certainly went above the call of duty im saluting you with a Suuuuuuper right now! Ahh Kyros, I love a doting father, saw it a lil bit when he was hitting the kid who tried to give Rebecca a love letter. Then this chapter and you can see kids just break a man no matter his strength.Usopp tried to use the 100T Hammer he probably ran through the whole arsenal while getting torn to shreds. I would've liked to see the battle but it looks like i can easily draw what happened. I'm just not understanding Sugar passing out, working for Doffy im sure she's seen (even done) horrible or scary shit she's not a kid after all and she was even there when Kyros cut his leg off. Imma re-read these vibes away.
There was no chance to attack Sugar, Trebol threw a ship to prevent that and when he came back, Trebol will NEVER allow him to attack Sugar. None of his shots will reach Sugar while Trebol is present.
He could if he didn't act cowardly earlier, if you think efficient strategy the dwarves and robin should get trebol busy while usopp snipping the tatabasco into sugar's mouth. That's how things could've been made simple. Like I said, personally I think this is OK. But the story could be better than this, the build up was there and we know Oda is capable on doing that, and it disappoints many people when it actually went like this.
@The:

Robin was caught by Sugar when trying to feed it to her. Sugar had a panel of exposition where she believed it was poison and she kept it, so it was not completely out of left field.
Sugar thought he was going to die but the extreme reaction took her completely by surprise. It's brief and more of the actual fight would've been great, but the set up is there.
Why didn't Sugar turn Usopp into a toy?
To have him taste his own medicine but unfortunately it turned out worst xD
Scarlet another Nami with different name and story.
How did time progress in this chapter? In the same time that Kyros was thinking about his past, Usopp was getting beaten up by Sugar and Trebol?
Why are people looking for pay-off in this chapter? The pay-off for all the Usopp build up happened last chapter, when he decided to face Trebol and Sugar. Despite what people may think, this was actually another step forward in Usopp's development. For the first time, he risked his life for a group that's not really close to him. To his best knowledge, none of his friends were in immediate danger. That's why he allowed himself to run. Yet he decided to turn around and face incredible odds to fight for the Tontata, because he felt like it was the right thing to do. It's a completely selfless act. The moment he turned around and attacked Trebol was the pay-off. The end of this chapter is more like poetic justice due to his bravery and selflessness.
For some reason I just couldn't get into the chapter. The art felt unusually ugly for me this time and I can't say that I care about any of the royalty. Kyros is an alright guy and his and Scarlet's love story is nice and all, but it's so very forgettable and cliched.
I guess there are such weeks sometimes. Can't be helped. '-'

Correct me if I'm wrong but you completely ignored Trebol'S presence where in fact he was the one who defeated Usopp. Yes, Usopp was bound to defeat Sugar all things held constant. But it won't happen the legit way since Usopp won't get pass through Trebol plotwise.
Reading now but I thought I'd need to mention
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/742/6
Scarlet on the left middle panel is indistinguishable from Nami. Like, if I saw that picture without context I would have assumed it was Nami.
due to plot reason it's kinda impossible for kyros to beat dofla (luffy'll do that) but then again i really want him to make dofla bleed and make him stop smiling. the way dofla got shocked when kyros cut off his own leg is satisfying but i need more. make him bleed kyros!
So will Robin get her chance to shine or will Trebol get gangbanged?
I'd say it's gonna be the latter.
Oda you glorious bastard

Without the view of their breasts, yes I agree with you.
