Hajrudin for nakama!?
-
I loved this chapter. The flashback was ok, I loved that the whole royal family interacted and had fun, and I'm liking Kyros more and more. Its a shame Scarlet had the personality of a rock (and it seems her daughter inherited it).
I personally enjoyed how the SOP strategy succeeded, I did NOT expect that. But more than anything I'v glad the whole SOP thing is finally over - its been dragging on for ages. Looking forward to the next chapter and the chaos that will ensure, maybe we can finally get some proper fights that aren't finished behind the scenes. It'll be fun to see how Doffy will react.
I'm a little disappointed that Franky is out though. Usopp has already had his shining moments so I don't mind his defeat, but I really want to see the rest of the strawhats have their first proper fight since the time-skip. There are so many secondary characters that they will probably steal the spotlight. I don't mind when there is a few (ex. Law in PH, or Violet and Kyros currently), but how many do we have now in toy form? Add to that Sabo, Koala, Burgess, the samurai… Law too.
-
Again, Usopp used his fake 100T hammer. He never tried to fight or beat hem, just scare Sugar alot. Which he did.
What are you talking about… He was beaten and just becauser of Sugar's stupidness to try out the Tabasco in his mouth, he "won"
-
It was a very One Piece way to handle such an important point, particularly given the presence of Usopp (who's often utilised for some of the more ridiculous developments in OP arcs). The Enel face just got put into a distant second place!!
Pretty much this.
-
Man, Usopp is funny but also very sad that he didnt managed to do anything by himself. Same goes to Franky, he screwed his design to be stronger and he cant beat a weirdo in diapers, what a let down.
Curos' flashback has a nice tragic part, but his love story with the princess feels rushed and his character is a bit dumb. And Oda really does have a thing with dead mothers, does he have a trauma with that or something? :P
Franky was against 3 of Doflamingo man- Senor Pink, Dellinger and Machvise + Marines. How is he weak and how fact that he lost is a let down???
Also what Ussop could have done against Trebol who had no problems with turning everybody beside Chinjao into toys? His slime was able to hold down even Cavendish. Tell me what you expected?
Remember how Ussop lasted against Jabra? It was around same gap in power between Ussop and Trebol here. Sanji, Zoro and Luffy are only ones that would be able to beat Trebol out of Strawhats imo. -
I kind understand Scarlet's reaction to Kyros, because she's the kind that doesn't like any kind of violence, and teached Rebecca to never hurt anyone, so for her, killing is something unacceptable.
-
He was holding back on Ricky
There is still no actual way he is going to beat Doffy. That is an established fact, firstly, because of Doffy's selective plot armor and secondly, because Kyros has no great hype to make anyone think he can beat Doflaming. The stupid thing about the latter point is that Curos thinks he can.
! Yes, the Curos thing was intentional.
-
the Only question that arises is how exactly did Kyros got chained to the pillar?
Come on, must everything be spelt out? You can fill in those blanks yourself. He went to the palace to see what was wrong/try and help, he was captured by DD or one of his crew. DD knew about him so decided to subdue him with the strongest metal so that he could get time to recruit him. Its really that simple.
-
The flashback felt really rushed again! What was the point making Scarlett hate Kyros initially if she just forgave him in few panels? :getlost: On the other hand her death was really sad.
Also Usopp. I was really hoping a Straw Hat outside of monster trio would have his time to shine and defeat one of the big players for once. But no. He got swatted by Trebol like that fly earlier. :getlost:
But the last page almost made up for all that!
-
Great eyes! Thanks for pointing it out.
So it was Franky vs 3 of Doflamingo family members + Vice Admirals with his marines. Nor Ussop nor Franky had any chance of winning in those situations.
Yeah, it's definitely too much for Franky even without Dellinger. Bad thing the 'Shogun' is in the ship. I wonder how he will handle it
-
@Myu:
Wouldn't wanna be rude but how is that a good catch friend? :(
Back when Kyros was first mentioned by Rebecca, he said he never was injured back in his days as a gladiator except for a single wound.
-
Great chapter.. but can someone explain to me how Sugar fainted?
I mean.. I didn't understand what Usopp did to her precisely. -

He was fighting three of DD's top fighters, plus Bastille and a bunch of fodder. Just be honest if he had won, we'd all be complaining about how DD's crew is weak, remember everyone ragging on Buffalo and Baby 5?

This post is deleted!

One more victory for the over-exaggerated panic face.
-
Great chapter.. but could someone explains to me how Sugar fainted?
Two possibilities:
1- She fainted because of the Tatababasco breath
2- She got scared with Usopp's face -
What are you talking about… He was beaten and just becauser of Sugar's stupidness to try out the Tabasco in his mouth, he "won"
I know. What I'm saying is, is that the way Sugar faints (by being scared mindless due to Usopp's reaction) fits with the way Usopp was trying to win (making Sugar faint….by scaring her.). He used the 100 tons fake hammer to try and scare her.
Basically, the outcome and Usopp's tactic of winning use the same mechanic: scaring Sugar. So it fits Usopp.

They off-screened Franky's fights, Ussop's fights and the final tournament Block? What the hell? I really hope Kinemon wasn't beaten up and will be around somewhere and actually have a fight or do something.
Flashback was nice though, explained a bunch of stuff and had good moments, but for some reason there's this nagging feeling that it wasn't at the right time. Probably for no reason.
Maybe I'm putting too much emphasis on the fights, but with half the Straw-Hats out of action, how are they ever going to take down the Doflamingo Family? -

Maybe I'm putting too much emphasis on the fights, but with half the Straw-Hats out of action, how are they ever going to take down the Doflamingo Family? They are gonna do it with the hundreds to thousands of toys becoming human again. Also, Usopp and Franky being out of order should make it obvious that the arc will continue for quite some time. Or do you really think Franky will be captured, Usopp killed right there, Luffy to fight and win Dofla no questions asked etc?
-
If Usopp's role in the arc is about done, how does Norland fit into the dwarves thing. I was thinking Oda would show a short flashback with him during his fight, but now, I have no idea when that is going to happen.

No, but they might not get a chance to fight, unless there are a few senzu beans around.
-
This chapter just raised a heap load of questions from everybody which makes sense since it was a little packed and many details getting offscreened or left to our imagination. We have to realize that this was obviously done on purpose because the forthcoming fights are going to be something BIG and definitely time consuming. Oda cannot possibly waste chapters in these fights since the main fights are yet to begin. We have many uncertain elements going around like Kanjuro and Issho which needs to be covered later on. So it is justifiable with regards to the pace at which this chapter was built.
Coming to the last panel, it is getting more obvious that apart from enhancing personal character strengths, Oda is concentrating on saving the day somehow to increase the SH allies. After this arc, SH crew will be allied with some of the most infamous names in the New World. Usopp and Franky will get their time to show off their skills later.

As someone said in the other thread a win is a win
You can't take anything away from Usopp. He's the one who faced overwhelming odds with no regard for his life. His stupid face scared sugar unconcious (with a little help from her naturally). And he is the one who has gained the support of all toys for the strawhats (including cavendish)

I actually think it's conquerors Haki. Release the debates!

His broken heart mysteriously placed as a physical wound.

Well, alright then.
RIP Franland.
-
Up to now every SH was defeated quite easily… yet people still think that it will be a formality to beat DD ? Duh !
-
I think I'm gonna reread Usopp vs Chew at Arlong park, and sadly shake my head.
At least Kyros is an actual character now, but man, Odas grasp on the main characters is slipping.
-
God, to those ranting about that last page, take note:
Sugar thought the ball was poison. She had no idea it's just super spicy. She didn't expect, as much as we did, that Usopp will react like that. Sugar's reaction is spot on and natural, considering how she hated gross things. I don't see how we should be disappointed in that, it's not as if it's an asspull or what. Oda chose that path and I must say I enjoyed it.
The only downside I can see here is I must say that Usopp is now out of the picture. He ate the tatabasco. Remember how that dwarf hyped it? There. But I am now excited in the participation of other fighters that will be now be back to human form.

! Yes, the Curos thing was intentional.
Kyros isnt getting defeated nor Burgess nor Barto nor Sabo.
What we have here is the most beautiful set up awaiting us. Despite the wierd locations and that determining the possibility of my match up this is going to happen;
Think of this.
Champions of the Colloseum Diamante currently and former Kyros.
Diamante killed his wife in front of him.
What more better could there be than two people fighting for the title of "Champion of the Colloseum" and what more is there for Kyros to take his revenge on the man that killed his love?
Calling it now. Diamante vs Kyros!

The guys just chilled. Purely legendary.
-
Usopp's win vs Sugar is reminiscent of Perona in its stupidity, i.e perona being scared of cockroaches then fainting from the fake 100Tn hammer.
It's just how he rolls as a character I suppose.. :P
-
I tend to agree, it was a first hint at conquerors haki.
Othern than that, Oda has the problem of too many characters post time skip.
With too many characters you just cant tell the story with sufficient pace in a weekly manga.
And making things worse, he introduces more and more characters. For example CP0. Totally unnecessary. -
Good chapter, would be the perfect time for Oda to switch scenes to the Sunny
-
So… about the faces...
!
-
It's a build-up chapter everyone. all the characters not really fighting all out/or revealed to be. let's see how's what happen next. should be fun
-
-
Some details I found out in this chapter:
Kyros got a scar on his forehead from the fight with Ricky.
!
The King of Gladiator's statue is modeled after Kyros 25 years old.
!
Tank was Kyros's soilder back there.
!
Beside Senor Pink and Machvise, Dellinger is there as well..
! -
I know that its been done in other chapters but the little drawings of Cavendish, Hajrudin and Dagma next to the toys are real cute.
-
Soooo, Kyros wound wasn't even his leg, it was that one Riku gave him? That little bleeding? .___.
It wasn't just a little bleeding. It was a head wound, and you can see in this chapter that it left a scar.
But, yeah, that's what I gathered as well.
-
-
How many of you people will bet against this…
Next chapter will be either about Sanji or Zoro vs Pica...anyway something where Oda won't show the toys turned back to normal. -
That was shit…so much for Ussop's redemption. Way to kill the fight Oda, add into that stupid senor who franky fought and Oda is trying his best to kill this arc/
-
That guy Kyros deserves to join….... law's tripulation.

Everything about this scenario was set up to have Usopps skillset save the day. Small target, dangerous at close range? Usopp is the only fighter around? Target needs to eat a tabasco ball?
It was absolutely tailor made for Usopp to win legitimately, showing actual skills and competency.
Instead, he just lucks out, its a completely passive "win". Its like if Rebecca won the tournament if everyone else slipped and fell into the water.
But I guess the face was funny.

You seem to have a problem understanding, after all these years of reading OP, that this series isn't only about fighting or being "cool". Usopp rarely gets cool, he always wins the way he did here - what made your jimmies rustle?
-
Ahm … Violet, Scarlet, Kyros and King Riku are standing around Rebecca and looking at her. It is the panel where the little Lady is named. But ... who is the fifth person?
midwife who helped rebecca's birth i think

The subversion with the Tabasco was funny and clever and made as much sense as Usopp shooting it into her mouth just…
the setup for it wasn't there, Oda was really building it up to be more conventional Usopp shoots it into her mouth with pure skill and strategy.
I dunno, I think it would have worked a lot more better if we actually saw Usopp's struggle against Trebol so it feels like there was some pay off to all that build up? Keep everything about the ending the same, just give us a few pages of Usopp's fight.
In the end, it's not Oda is incapable of telling a good story, just his hang-up about speeding things up is hurting his story.
-
I haven't had such epic chapter since the sabo's revelation chapter. flashback part was not so bad as I thought either. But sugar's knockout part was awaited for months . therefore I am satisfied now. It really compensated for the previous few less amazing chapters. Thanks Oda

What the-
No, no he really really doesn'tThis is like if Usopp manned up, faced Chew-
-then had his fight offscreened, was beaten unconcious, wherupon Chew ate a tabsco ball in Usopps bag for the hell of it, had an allergic reaction and fainted.Or if Usopp had melted the Mr 3 Cake by a fart catching fire after he had fainted from Miss Valentines pressure.
Or if Usopp got hit in the groin by a Mr 4 baseball, making a face so hilarious that Mr 4 got distracted, and didn't notice a random pillar falling onto him from behind.
Or even if instead of using his 100 Ton hammer on Perona, he'd gotten beaten to a pulp, stepped on a nail, and made a silly face that scared her unconcious.
Usopp always faces powerful foes, and huge challenges that beat his body to a bloody mess - the fun is seeing him use his brains to win. He didn't just luck out because Lols, gag panel!

Do you remember what his dream is? We just had a two year timeskip in which everyone trained to be stronger so that they wouldnt fail the crew again. First serious fight and Usopp not only runs like a coward but wins, by lucking out.
