I'm really more and more under the impression that Oda is implementing string theory in One Piece. I mean the way Doflamingo can apparently create clones and even TV screens with his strings heavily supports that. If that's the case though, he can pretty much create anything, because the foundation of all matter are tiny strings according to that theory in theoretical physics.

RE: One Piece Chapter 745: Birdcage
What Doflamingo doesn't know is that Team Sanji and the Big Mom ship are probably outside the cage right now. That might bite him in the behind in the end. But again, a really unexpected turn of events. It's just that with Sabo and Fujitora inside this bird cage, it's hard for me to see Doflamingo succeeding.

RE: One Piece Chapter 742 - I'll always be close to you
Why are people looking for pay-off in this chapter? The pay-off for all the Usopp build up happened last chapter, when he decided to face Trebol and Sugar. Despite what people may think, this was actually another step forward in Usopp's development. For the first time, he risked his life for a group that's not really close to him. To his best knowledge, none of his friends were in immediate danger. That's why he allowed himself to run. Yet he decided to turn around and face incredible odds to fight for the Tontata, because he felt like it was the right thing to do. It's a completely selfless act. The moment he turned around and attacked Trebol was the pay-off. The end of this chapter is more like poetic justice due to his bravery and selflessness.

RE: One Piece Chapter 740 - Please!!!
What I can see happening is Usopp retreating but returning as Sogeking. Maybe he has developed some kind of split personality, or maybe he's at least imagening that he has. The thing is, that he's a coward and rather weak when compared to the monsters he's facing in the New World. But if he can somehow convince himself that Sogeking is stronger than himself, then it would make sense for him to be less afraid of enemies when he's pretending to be his alter ego. That would be a very clever trick on Oda's part to make Usopp a decent warrior whenever the stakes are high, without actually having Usopp realize his dream of becoming a brave warrior, because he's still hiding behind Sogeking. If this is true, then his mask will probably break towards the end of the series. Luffy will encourage him and tell Usopp that Sogeking's power has always been his power and that he doesn't need the mask. And then Usopp will become the brave warrior and have his most epic moment.
It also makes sense from the perspective that many of us are expecting a bounty raise for the crew. Usopp doesn't have one yet, Sogeking does. If Oda wants to raise those 30 million, then Sogeking has to appear pretty soon. Else he would have to introduce a new wanted poster for Usopp and have the marines being baffled about where this Sogeking is now. But why would Usopp retreat if he's gonna face them eventually anyway? Maybe he'll get help from Hakuba or somebody else, or maybe, like I said, there is a split personality thing going on.

RE: One Piece Chapter 740 - Please!!!
Okay, I just read the chapter. The sh*tstorm is going to be huge. So much build-up and anticipation for Usopp to shine, but the last page, wow. It's going to be at least another week of hating his character.
Anyway, the rest of the chapter was great. Kinemon cracked me up. Of all the things he could be doing since he disappeared, he's dressing as the big bad guy himself. This can't possibly go wrong. Also, it appears that we'll see Zoro vs Pica. I initially thought that it would be a relatively easy match up, since Zoro can cut through stone easily. However, if Pica uses Zoro's bad sense of orientation to his advantage, it's going to be more difficult.

RE: Chapter 739: Captain
Same applies to Vivi.
Well, when they met Vivi, Sanji was, I believe, 19 years old. That makes it at least a bit less questionable in my opinion. But the whole Shirahoshi thing was still awkward, since a 21 year old having the hots for a 16 year old … well you get the point. And she didn't join, so I guess my argument still stands.^^

RE: Chapter 739: Captain
They sure develop fast at Dressrosa. Her boobs probably haven't even achieved full size yet.
Damn. Now I want her to join.
I don't think she can join, because every panel with her and Sanji in it would be awkward, considering she's 16 …

RE: Chapter 739: Captain
The problem with Rebecca, to make it short, is that she's a self-contradicting character. She wants to win this tournament badly, yet she's hesitant to injure her opponents. I have no problem with pacifist characters. In fact, I like them a lot since I respect and admire pacifist people in real life. But when you have a character like this who still wants to participate in a gruesome battle despite her ideals, then there's an issue. Dont misunderstand me though, this is not exactly a writing problem. Contradicting characters can offer a lot of possibilities when it comes to plot and development. But often times they are less likable because they don't know what they want. Rebecca is not a bad character, but not really a likable one, so far.
