How is diamante going to hold Yonkou First Fleet Commander Burgess, and Sabo?
My bet is that fujitora is already on the way to the Colloseum

Im not blaming her, im blaming the fact that Cavendish can't control when it turns itself on. Im 99% sure that if he hadn't fell asleep he could win fighting normally.
But he did fall asleep. A Cavendish capable to control the duration of his berserker state does not exist. A Cavendish capable of forcing himself to never fall randomly asleep doesn't exist.
You are creating a non-canon Cavendish, removing his weaknesses.
Cavendish fell asleep because he was daydreaming about how popular he will be after winning this tournament.
How hard is that to grasp?
But him falling asleep allowed Rebecca to win without doing anything, so that turns the whole Cavendish character in just a deus ex machina that Oda used for this one time.
Rebecca blocked the attack of Cavendish.
None of the remaining fighters managed to accomplish that. So how is that a victory "without doing anything".
"That Person"? Wait is this the AP forums or an actual One Piece chapter now?
The better question is why the hell did I add an apostrophe in thanks. lol
seems this "Hakuba" man is not on either side dofla or luffy.
He probably had an idea for a character with a split personality and read/listened to Jekyll and Hyde for inspiration….no idea where he finds the time.
If I'm not mistaken, Moriah was originally meant to be a priest with split personality.
So Oda had the idea for a long time already.
Did anyone else think for a second that the wind Bastille was descibing was Dragon and the "certain pirate" was Luffy? I thought Hakuba was a nickname for Dragon or something, haha.
Either way, I really enjoyed Cavendish's development.
Is there a single female "supporting character" in OP that is not generally despised by the majority of this forum? i even remember people throwing a ton of shit on Vivi for gods sake…
I see more people like Vivi than anything. Plenty of male supporting characters are hated too.
Don't try to make girls seem like eternal victims.
@.access:
Yeah, that part of the post was speculation, but we all know how those kind of berserk second personalities work in fiction, so even though it is speculation, I think it is almost guaranteed to be right (that if Rebecca managed to stay up after that attack, Hakuba wouldn't vanish and would keep attacking her until she was down).
What? No we don't. And it being a trope doesn't automatically make your speculation more valid. Besides, its quite clearly shown that Hakuba vanishes instantly after hitting Rebecca; he doesn't even see her fall over. And if Hakuba sticks around until everyone is dead, are you saying that he butchered towns down to the last person? That he doesn't stop until he has gotten everyone? In the words of Jack Sparrow, "where does the stories then come from, I wonder"
If I'm not mistaken, Moriah was originally meant to be a priest with split personality.
So Oda had the idea for a long time already.
And if i am not mistaken, Scratchman Apoo is based on early concepts/drafts of Doflamingo.
Loved this chapter. So it's all clear now that it wasnt some "high-tier-yonkou-commander-in-meadows-form" im glad oda saved cavendish from that because ppl you werent paying attention! Cavendish got many panels for oda to just throw it all away like a fodder. It would be completely useless! That is not how odasama write his masterpiece!
Anyway, i liked viola, anyone here voting her for NN? Present!!!
I can't say I expected something like that from Cavendish
I thought we were all aboard with CC as NN?!?!
@.access:
To be honest, I was under the impression that Cavendish "summoned" Hakuba.
I mean, Rebecca was being attacked without rest by Suleiman, then Cavendish appears out of nowhere between them and falls asleep. It seemed to me that he was trying to "save" Rebecca by calling Hakuba out… even though he ended up attacking her as well.
Cavendish shows up, exhausted, with his back to Suleiman, as if he's being pushed backwards by something offscreen. Are you saying he moonwalked to Suleiman in order to protect Rebecca?
@.access:
Also, Cavendish is probably aware of Hakuba existence, otherwise how a personality that only appears to attack and vanishes as soon as it is over would have a known name?
Because he could have said "I am Hakuba" to someone who survived his attack?
AHAHAHAHA HAKUBO :D His face just adds to hilarity of the concept.
Ahhh … We still didn't get an intro to the finals ... All we know is it's Sabo, Burgess, Rebecca and Bartolomeo involved. Given the officers are protecting the Toy House, I assume either they'll try to delay it, or else Diamante will brawl them, or else (most likely) the four remaining will be cut down to 1. A battle royale seems likely after all :D With Sabo and Burgess there as, apparently, mega powerhouses, that leaves Bartolomeo - the supreme shield who should probably be "on-side" with Sabo, at least to start with - and Rebecca, who has supreme speed and whose story we're actually interested in. Sooooooo, we'll see how that goes ... it sounds like it will be interesting just form the types of abilities being thrown into the mix.
Rebecca won kind of by her skill. OK, she lucked out with the whole Hakubo thing, but on the other hand, she WAS the only one to avoid his slashes (well, kind of avoid), so it feels like she does win at least in part on her own merit. Obviously, she's not on par with any of the other three ... but that's kind of the point, so I'm pleased.
The shot of Law on the Heart Seat and of Riku chained up on the floor was great~ I mean we've had so much set up already, but this Doflamingo counting off the principal points on his fingers in the throne room was still pretty impactful. Doflamingo's evidently realising Violet betrayed him because she thought, or was willing to gamble, that the alliance would win ... but then we get him and his assumption juxtaposed with the reality.
So Luffy, Zoro, Kinemon and possibly Violet and Mr Soldier (?), will enter the playing field in the Palace, where we have Doffy, Pica (I think), Gladius and Baby 5 and Buffalo (guesses), Fujitora and the prisoners King Riku and Law.
Franky's engaging Senor Pink (nice throw) at the Toy House front, with Lao G, Dellinger and Machvise guarding the other entrances ...
Usopp, Robin and the rebel forces have infiltrated the harbour, where we have Trebol, Sugar and Jora (guess), plus the actual factory within which are likely all the toyified fighters, plus Kanjuro.
Fujitora was conspicuously absent from this chapter ... I assume, still, that his gravity power will help mix up this three tiered assault though.

Oh, the hatted giraffe on the cover made me think of Kaku :p
Also, when Bastille said this guy always showed up in the same place as a particular pirate ... I thought he was some guy chasing Cavendish :p The reality was funnier though.
I can't believe someone beat me to the Dark Cabbage avatar.
@The:

I read that particular sequence of panels as Rebecca doing the same thing she was doing with Logan by drawing Suleiman towards Cavendish in the hope he'd do exactly what he did and try to behead him.
I could be wrong though.
Wait, He couldnt knock rebecca out in his "evil super strong mode" but you are 99% sure that he would have won in his regular fighting mode? that doesnt make sense man. What is your issue with Lil' Becky, Seriously?
And who's making assumptions out of an ass? He couldn't knock her out? Why do you think so? He only attacked once, we don't know if he 'run out of steam' like you said, or maybe its just ended randomly just like randomly he fell asleep. If he fought longer he would own her without problems when one attack did so much. So if he thought in normal mode, even if its weaker, it would still be enough to deal easily with Becca. If he wouldn't fall asleep randomly he wouldn't have problems. So the only reason he lost was because of this falling asleep stuff.
You present it like Cavendish turned this mode on purpose to deal with Becca, and he was overpowering her, but she survived long enough that he used up all the power and thus she won. It didn't look like that at all.

Good point. We can call her 2nd strongest in block… maybe :P
This won't be the last of Hakuba, mark my words.
Caven D. Ich of the beasts
Underworld name: Kaidou
Someone remember this during 2014 awards!
Also big lol at everyone getting so hyped up over Meadows. I knew Oda wouldn't use such a design to important character!
Anyway how come Cavendish is so popular even with his bloodthirsty side? If marines know about his split-persona wouldn't they warn people about it? Or do the ladies just love him anyway?
Hakuba hype train , tickets anyone?!

HE DIDNT FIGHT LONGER. YOUR POINT IS MOOT. If you are going to continue speculating about alternative realities, why dont you start writing your own fanfiction while you are at it.
How is diamante going to hold Yonkou First Fleet Commander Burgess, and Sabo?
My bet is that fujitora is already on the way to the Colloseum
It's a little unsettling that Diamante is so calm in all of this, yeah, it probably won't be a 'normal' finale.
has anyone mentioned that we finally see damask doing something in the right upper panels
It could be kinda funny if Cavendish actually doesn't know about his other personality xD
Maybe translation is crap than
Cause he says:
"What you did THIS MORNING, was enough for me not to want to abandon this country completely! Just that!"
Dofla didnt do shit this morning, this moring info came that he lied. So why would that cause him to act is beyond me.
If it was like, what you did few days back (resigning) was enough for me not to abandon this country bla blaNow that would make sense this does not
P.S.
I agree that Rebeca for me just got additionally disliked in this chapter, sure she dodged a bit but looks like she couldnt have won it with her own strength alone. So the fact that she is among top 4 is a bit cheap
I haven't read through all the posts so I don't know if anyone has said this but I think what Riku meant was that it showed the extent of don's power with the government and that this showed his true power and danger.
@Light:

Pair him with Brook's Nemuriuta Flanc/Lullaby Parry … works only with tamed Hakuba
How is diamante going to hold Yonkou First Fleet Commander Burgess, and Sabo?
Hug them? Hehe .

There is the whole "He's a wanted man whose head is worth a fortune warning warning danger danger this man is a deadly outlaw," so his admirers are kind of ignoring that anyway . . .

Ooh that's a nice little tidbit.
My point still stands but he probably just did it years ago.
You can still see it a little in Moria tbh.
The contrast between his lazy, self centred usual self and the way he acts when he's reminded of the massacre of his crew is quite startling.
first chapter of the year
Unfortunately, Oda will never appear in Jump Festa in the future…

I threw a hit at your helm
Don't ask me i'll never tell
I looked at you as you fell
But you're still in my wayI'd trade my soul for a wish
Strength level two cavendish
I wasn't lurking for this
But you're still in my wayMy stare was holdin'
Ripped mouth, teeth weren't showin'
Cold night wind was blowin'
WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING, BABY??

Did something bad happened when he was there the last time?!
So the person that's 2x Cavendish ended up being Cavendish x 2 lol. Pretty badass. It would be awesome if cabbage did get the mera fruit. Think rommels flaming (no homo) whirlwind :ninja:. So would Cavendish be considered odas dangerous character??
This is the pic of what exactly ? Popularity contest ? O_o
It's just the usual messages from each author in Jump.
But it's like Sandman says. Oda's appearance at JF last year will have been his last.
All the excitement probably isn't good for his health or something.

Yikes, not the best way to kick off a new year for Oda. Poor guy.
Could someone clarify with me a thing or two?
Factory was told to be under the Colosseum, no?
It is also under the Toy house beneath Royal Palace.
Trebol was seen with Sugar picking up losers from their imprisonment from Colosseum.
So could it be said that Factory is very large under ground?
should i ever meet him, i will buy stephen Lunch
! :ninja:
awsomeness ! felt like forever waiting for this op chapter !
At least Rebecca dodge the super fast blow.
Those guys seriously got down with just one slash? unimpressed.
Cavendish spllited personality is a interesting idea. I'm no fan of it because i hate the "demon sleeping inside of you" idea, but it is intersting. Seems to be base on doctor Jenkins and Mr Hyde.
Love Hakuba design (The Nanika face) and the way he moves. Seems like a psycho on a killing spree. But i wonder if he slash just each person just one time or if he is capable of a real fight. Anyway is speed is crazily impressive.
Doflamingo is definitely the guy ho have underestimate the strawhats the most while also overestimating himself. So much for his hype and his "I won't underestimate the strawhats"
Still love his sense of humor by puting Law on the Heart seat. But he should really kill him if he has no plan for him.

Well it is fairly substantial as we saw in that double spread a few chapters ago - it includes an entire underground port after all. The coliseum is right next to the palace though, so it's not like the underground bit spreads under the whole city or anything.
Doflamingo is right though, Luffy come out from colosseum not as a human but a fish.
Lord of the Fins

Agreed. Was trying to comprehend the factory in general only. Double Page wasn't enough detailed to give a general idea.
So if it were to be prisoners in the underground freed it would be great turn of events for SH side. It's even possible Trebol not getting a fight with a SH. Don't think he will be taken out by non-SH though. Probably prisoners will be used to hype him and Sugar.
D block really was a big letdown.
Am i the only one that was annoyed by whole Meadows thing? I mean, yeah it was plausible theory, but everyone jumped on it like it was 100% sure thing…
Nah, I was annoyed too, it was a nice theory but it suddenly jumped everywhere (even in YouTube) as a fact, kinda like the black armament haki is because luffy is rubber thing.
I laughed so bad seeing that Oda drew Meadows KO… twice !
It felt like he heard about the Meadow's theory.

I could understand that if he was just seeking adventures without causing trouble to civilians like Luffy is. But if every village Cavendish visited was turned into a slaughterhouse by Hakuba, you'd think people would put two and two together and start admiring him roughly as much as Barty.
