I got my hopes up towards the end that there was going to be an awesome cliffhanger of some sort (the mysterious lightning storm) but then it just ended up being Sanji doing the exact same thing he did in punk hazard.
My logic was since they already have the admirals when it comes to monsters they wouldn't need another group of monsters.

People don't die in One Piece unless it has grave consquences to the entire plot, and not like with in an arc motivation to beat the big bad because he did this kind of consqunce like this changes the fate of the entire world (whitebeard) or this will set up the reasoning for the main character making a monumental decision (ace's death makes way for two yaer time skip)
I could defintely see Oda doing one of his favorite, oh look she's dead now sanji beats the shit out of the guy who did this… and then totally cop out and show her alive at the end of the arc with some half assed explanation (the weapons were dull, I fell out of the way) or no explanation at all (hey you forgot your hat... strange how any clothing survived when you were at the center of a bomb that was supposed to kill hundreds of thousands of people)
oh never mind there newbies, they'll get used to the whole "no one dies in One Piece" soon enough

Yes, it seems obvious that during those times Zoro was equal to Luffy in strength, but after beating someone of Crocodiles caliber his strength surpassed Zoro's. Even more so after the arcs ahead. The gap in their strength grew apart even more greatly thanks to the 3 arcs after Sabaody. But it's natural that Luffy should be on an entirely different level from his crew mates being the captain.
Being the captain doesn't mean he have to be the strongest, and I dont think that just because he beat Crocodile he surpassed Zoro. There are also people who think that Zoro is even stronger than Luffy, and there is no real proof in the manga to prove them wrong. In my opinion Oda want us to believe that the Monster Trio are on the same league, with Luffy maybe being just a tiny stronger.

What's the point of introducing CP0 at all if they're not going to be at a level where they present some kind of challenge or threat? They're higher up than CP9, they're in the New World handling intel on the most dangerous pirates in the world, of course they are going to have to hold their own in a fight.

I don't think Violet's power has been fully explained yet. My understanding was that she can see out of the eyes of birds within the radius. But she has to control where her "vision" is consciously, like move it from bird to bird, so it's not that she can be everywhere at once. I also don't think she can read people's thoughts without looking at them in person with her mind vision pose thing. It wasn't my impression that she can see everything and hear everyone's thoughts all over the country. More that she has the freedom to look anywhere in the country.

In the top panel where she's explaining it, it looks like she is already looking towards the ship out on the water - which would make sense as they were just talking about the harbour etc, and also how straight afterwards she saw the ship getting struck by lightning.
Btw, I don't get how some people expect to see Zoro vs Cavendish just because Zoro is near Colosseum…

So far it hasn't been revealed yet, though some think it may be Gladius. I would like to think it was the little girl who was chomping down on those purple goodies but it wouldn't make much sense due to her young age and the amount of years Doflamingo spent in Dressrosa.
She's very strong, which I can tell from the fact that she dodged Baby 5's rampage and acted like nothing happened. She's very interesting. She may be older than she looks which would be kinda weird.
Sanji is not in as strong as Luffy but they are still considered around the same tier. Do people think if Sanji and Luffy fought seriously, that Luffy would not get a scratch? It was established in Fisherman Island that Sanji was "seven warlords" level when him and Jimbie was kicking around the giant fish. Sanji is not beating Don Flamingo but this not going to be Ace vs Akainu part two, maybe more like Ace vs Blackbeard.

After reading this chapter, I think violet is a portrait of Zarqa Al yamamah nicknamed the Blue-eyed dove. This is a legend but some people believe that she is real, she had special vision which can make her see as far as 3 days travling distant.
Hmmmm ok I had another look at the raw. What she says is: "Watashi no Senrigan wa happou 4600km tori no me wo kariru you ni "shisen" wo tobasu koto ga dekiru no."
Watashi no Senrigan wa [my Clairvoyance] happou 4600km [for 4600km in all directions] tori no me [birds' eyes] wo kariru you ni [borrows in order to] "shisen" wo tobasu [let my "sight" fly] koto ga dekiru no _.
My interpretation from that is that she literally borrows birds' eyes.

At least I get to read One Piece to make Hump Day something to look forward to! But I have to say, the mystery and the build up keeps growing. Where is Caesar's heart? Is Ryokugyu coming up soon? What made Doflamingo abandon his world noble status? So many questions, yet little will be answered!

Thinking Colosseum people might team up and destroy Colosseum in their escape and in their wake, knock off some of the key henchmen.

Ahh okay - do you mind if I ask you how you can tell which version is being used? Are they distinguished by different kanji, or is there some kind of language structure that you can tell them apart by - I'm just wondering because if it's the kanji, how are you able to tell which is being used in speech…? Other than working it out by context I suppose.

To me it seems like like Oda is making fun of a portion of One Piece´s the fans in a cute way through Barto, which is hilarious. I sometimes feel like he´s reading forums and reacting to some discussions like there was the Zoro first mate (?) one recently, also the thing with Jora "having to" clarify she´s not the toy user and stuff like that.
This chapter was really good but I liked last week´s more. In particular, there´s two issues that slightly bug me:
1. The whole Sanji situation.
Don´t get me wrong, the double-page at the end was an amazing action sequence (although I personally liked Sanji´s PH entrance vs Vergo more). The problem is the reaction of Nami, Chopper and Brook before that. I understand that Dofla is a scary powerful person but it´s getting a bit too much for basically half of the future PK´s crew to be frozen in fear all the time, even after the time-skip.
I just wished they had recovered from the initial shock within a short amount of time and then instantly created some sort of defensive formation to at least not seemingly get slaughtered within seconds (jumping point-mirror images-leaving body for example). The the imminent doom situation was created to signify the lightspeed-Sanji-coming-to-the-rescue-solution.
Which brings me to the second issue.
2. Zoro and Kinemon before the colosseum.
I understand that this was mainly a comedy situation, but on one hand we had the Sanji part later where he covered a lot of distance in a very short amount of time (note that Law only managed to run through a small portion of Green Bit within the same time frame) for the sake of the plot. On the other hand, Zoro just stood there wondering if he should cut a way open or not, which is kind of ridiculous and quite out of character for him, who previously destroyed a ship he slept on "just because". This seems like plot device, to give more room for block D to finish and stuff (like comedy) but for me, for a moment, the story lost a bit of the time pressure suspense created just a page before that and then suddenly jumped to code red later. I actually liked the Dofla part where he just instantly went after the SHs, props to him as an antagonist.
Btw. where are the marines who were surrounding the Colosseum a few chapters ago? Are they only gathering at the main gate for some reason?
Anyway, it´s just nitpicking. Overall, I really enjoy what´s going on, a lot
