No … 50.000 of fodders ...
I don't see Luffy using CoC on the arena, it's used on getting people out of the way and on arena it's fun all-out-brawl. Luffy isn't looking for a duel there.

The Toys as a group of people didn't show any agenda against Doflamingo so far. Or I missed something.
You didn't. Only ONE toy did.
As an Engineer i feel the need to correct that misunderstanding. It's true that it's hard for rubber to conduct electricity but after a certain amount of voltage rubber starts heating and it begins its vulcanization process which is irreversible. 100,000,000 volts produce a pretty considerable amount of heat. Anyways my point is those things should be overlooked because they don't relate to real life at all.
Something I learned from Static Shock. Luffy should have died or atleast been scorched by Enel's attack.
Flamingo is willing to go through the trouble of deceiving the world to avoid pissing off kaido ? cant wait to see kaido :)
Something I learned from Static Shock. Luffy should have died or atleast been scorched by Enel's attack.
Good thing that people of the sky islands and Luffy don´t know about it, please dont let him know…
I think something unpredictable will happen this arc. Anyone else think that it's about time for Luffy to meet up with his father?

16 chars of Very true!
That was a good chapter, man Dof got some major connections, if whenever the Strawhats + Law defeat him they are going to be major top goal for the goverment than they were already, hes becoming one of the best villains in this series, good work Oda
Sanji's plot, him getting Violet to join with his ways were good but I do wish he had fought against her a bit than have her see his thoughts and see what kind of guy he really is and stop. In the New World Sanji's weakness is going to be a big con for the strawhats, Big Mom could crush him if shes pretty unless he doesn't like what Big Mom is like on the inside and wants to defeat her, than I'd respect the man a lot.
Law is so screwed, you had some good ideas but you just don't mess with the Master himself!
Now, finally getting to a Luffy fight, hope we see some new moves out of this, that'd be nice. I don't know what Dof hopes to achive out of this tournament other than to distract him from all of whats going on, could want to see what Luffy's done over his 2 years of training. Course things aren't to go all that well when Dof defeats Law's group and the others, think in the end Luffy's group {With new friends from the tournament} Will be the last ones standing while the others get caught by Dof himself. Or, just Law's group gets caught and almost killed while Luffy and the others meet up after that, I don't knowXD
Fun chapter, can't wait to see Luffy's fight. Thank goodness we don't have another break.
Something I learned from Static Shock. Luffy should have died or atleast been scorched by Enel's attack.
Technically, 100,000,000 volts should be enough to exceed Rubber's dielectric breakdown constant, which is the electrical version of the "Even the strongest bridge in the world breaks if you put enough weight on it" principle–At some point the massive potential difference rips off electrons from the rubber and makes its own conductive path through the otherwise insulating material.
This is how lighting works--air is normally very resistive, but at some point the electrical potential between the clouds and the ground becomes so high, it basically rips electrons off of their nuclei to create ions, which can conduct the current from the sky to the ground, causing lighting.
But then again, this is a universe where a woman spontaneously growing extra limbs on random surfaces doesn't even have the craziest ability within the main cast. Science is naturally taking a backseat to storytelling here.
The topic of Sanji's sexism aside, does anyone else think his "Women's tears can't mask the lies" spiel was the cornballiest thing you ever heard? I mean, in terms of cheesey lines go, Sanji's one "Hasta la vista" or "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers" away from being the Strawhat's own Schwarzenegger.
Sanji remains fucking awesome (though the debates about him are really god damn annoying) and the rest of the chapter was good as well. Lol at eye whales. Wth Oda!?
So… Why did Sanji dream of getting the ability to become invisible if he also could have gotten a fruit that lets him see people naked?
Because not all devil fruits are known, sanji have seen the invisibility fruit in the devil fruit book created about recorded ones from previous history.
you know, mostly devil fruits that were in the marines possession at that time/era
do some people seriously fucking believe that violets ability is a logia
Honestly this is currently the 2nd best arc after marineford!
Honestly this is currently the 2nd best arc after marineford!
At least for me it's competing with my current favorite Sabaody archipelago. Marineford is not among my favorites.
@Monkey:
It would be interesting for the Strawhats to leave an island behind that hated them for doing the right thing, for a change.
What about the time they kicked Buggy out of Orange Town and afterwards the whole town chased them out?
What about the time they kicked Buggy out of Orange Town and afterwards the whole town chased them out?
That was a misunderstanding, if they went back there, even like an hour later, they would have been greeted as heroes.
Taking out the Dofla family and Dofla, if they really run the country so well, could piss off lots of people regardless of how aware they are of his crime side.
What about the time they kicked Buggy out of Orange Town and afterwards the whole town chased them out?
Well technically they still didn't know that Luffy & Zoro were good guys until the Mayor stopped them.
From what I remember from the top of my head (and not going back to reread)= the townsfolk found the mayor knocked unconscious and blamed Luffy …who really did do that to the mayor (to keep the man from going against Buggy's crew and getting killed). The town thought that the guys were just as bad as Buggy when they chased them out, and didn't know the truth until afterwards

They knew the truth DURING it, after Luffy and Nami ran off with Zoro, the mayor revived and yelled something like "DONT YOU DARE SOMETHING SOMETHING TO THOSE HEROES" at the villagers.
i think fujitora may just turn on dofla it wouldnt be the first time that a good and honest marine disobeys orders to do the right thing also i doubt his whole "blind justice" theme would just let him ignore all the shit doflas been upto no matter whos son he is another prediction i have is that dofla may be forcing violet to work for him by keepin her boyfriend or husband as a prisoner and forcing him to work in his factory and later on in the arc a heartbroken sanji will rescue him so violet can and him can be together again

You're a very very cruel man. Poor Sanji!

I don't think she got a bf or husband yet lol
Did you read what she say? "Men are liars through and through". Which means she hated all men b/c they all lies to her with their fake love i guess.
@Tom:
Does Sanji's chivalry only apply to the beautiful ones? It'd be pretty hilarious if he could without a problem attack Big Mom considering what an unfeminine creature she is. It'd also be as ruthless as the world we live in. Of course it's not correct to judge people based on their looks, but being attracted to morbidly obese women for example is something most people aren't capable of. And considering the evolutionary circumstances we come from, probably shouldn't be. So Sanji could disregard his habits because the creature represents something he can't consider a woman.
nope. he defended Zombie Lola before in Thriller Bark (when his shadow was being in Zombie Penguin's body), resulted in Usopp and Chopper applaused him for doing so. and Dr. Kureha. well she's beautiful and strong but still not as young as Nami or the others. just saying.
already tried the eye pose Violet did when i was in grade school (or junior high?) after watching Vivian Hsu did it. but well, none of the people here seem to watch soap operas, so….
I'm glad to see problems popping up that Law didn't anticipate. I'm really curious to see what he means by "more deeply rooted" than Celestial Dragons. I loved the little interaction between Law and Robin too - he does seem to work well with the Mugiwara crew.
I think the pacing of this arc is interesting, with the split between Law's plot and Luffy's tournament. I'm usually really not into tournaments like this, but Oda's got me excited for it.
I actually didn't mind the Sanji/Violet storyline (the tears thing does seem similar to Nami and the kids), but some of these posts make me uncomfortable lurking around here. Guys saying shit like "it's not sexism, it's superiority", throwing around terms like "feminazi" for being uncomfortable with something, saying it's no big deal and readers should just not care about it… Basically, sexist guys trying to make any sort of comment on sexism.
Also, I'm interested in seeing what Fujitora's role in DD vs. Law will be.
On Sanji and his chivalry and love of beautiful women=Some think its one and the same, but its two different cases that are connected: Some say the connection is "respect for the Female gender". (actual wording and definition does change from person to person)
The two cases are:
He only flirts and pampers the pretty ones
but is willing to protect any female.
@Monkey:
They knew the truth DURING it, after Luffy and Nami ran off with Zoro, the mayor revived and yelled something like "DONT YOU DARE SOMETHING SOMETHING TO THOSE HEROES" at the villagers.
Thanks for the correction, as I said "from what I remember" and admitted I've not re-read it so I knew I could remember a bit wrong.
Still… Did that happen at the end when they were running out of town at the end? If so he wouldn't have enough time to explain WHY he called them heroes until afterwards.

I just reread it. The townsfolk don't know that the the the three of them helped until after they chased them out of town. They showed up and saw the town in shambles, and when they asked what happened to the Mayor, Luffy said he knocked him out and they got mad. Then, the mayor woke up, told them to stop, ran to the shore, and yelled "Thank you!"

It's definitely cornball. Could have been intentional, as Sanji's passionate storybook romanticism often leads to cliched bromides like that. I think that kind of schmaltz fits Sanji with his hopelessly gallant ways.
@.access:
I wonder if Sanji's chivalry would survive the knowledge that by killing Violet he could get a fruit that would allow him to see under all the dresses.
Hahaha I love it so much I laughed out loud for real.
I thought the interaction between Sanji and Violet was okay, and not completely sexist. My problem though is something that Panda Bear addressed earlier, and that is the fact that Violet might be Baby-4 in Doflamingo's crew. If most of the women in Doflamingo's crew are named Baby-something, I find that a lot more sexist than anything Sanji does. I mean, why would they all be named Babies? I don't like that at all. Unless the men are named Man-1, Man-2, Man-3 etc., or something like that, just to neutralize it, then that would be okay. But if not, I think it's just silly. I don't understand why everything has to be seperated between men and women, why can't it be equal? My solution would be to just have a ranking like Assassin-1, Assassin-2, etc. despite being male or famale. That way you neutralize anything sexist. But I guess that would be too similar to the Baroque Works system and people would be saying it's not "original" and Oda is running out of ideas or something.
Meh, I don't know. I just wouldn't like it. I guess I'm just a hopeless feminist. Plus, my fiance is Korean, so she knows everything about being in a male-dominated country where importance on beauty for women is insane. I find it disgusting, but what are you going to do? That's the way the world works I guess.
Plus, Doflamingo is pimp(pretty much literaly), so he probably doesn't respect women anyways.
I'll let Oda do whatever he wants, I have immense faith in him. He's an amazing writer. Just my 2 cents. I'm probably over reacting for nothing. Hehe.

Wait, I don't mind the whole fuss with Sanji. Essentially we two think alike, but I'm the sexist one because of my gender?
Monkey King said it'd be interesting if one island for once hated Strawhats for what they did on the island. I can already see a Dark Knight type of cool speech by Gary Oldman. The ordinary people don't know that they did the right thing and hate them for it, but they can take it. Well that's what they've been doing the whole series, Luffy doesn't care what other people think about him and his crew.
Luffy is pretty much a more lighthearted Batman.
This chapter put a smile on my face. I want to know more about Violet's abilities with tears. I want to say its haki since it doesn't fit the description of her abilities. If it is then it would have to be more complex than the basics. I feel as if DD might need Law for plans untold, but only time will tell.
@E-Ratic:
…. why can't it be equal? .
Uhm because we are different. Even if we like it or not people are diverse in gender, race, thoughts, points of view, religion and so on and so forth. We only need to accept who we are and keep on moving, there will be those who love us and those who loathe us, those too weird to understand and those who will rationalize every single thing to the most boring particle, but hey that`s the world in all its beauty. I'm getting poetic. Even in the darkest places you can find light… Thats what a couple of beers do to me....
such a good chapter
@Tom:

You dare bring Sirius Black into this!!
Hate people for their damn gender-sexist discussions. Grow up and enjoy the manga. I don't think it is Oda's intention to display some sort of 'Gender Superiority'
People read alot between the lines, I suppose.
Pfffffff…BWAHAHAHA! Nice to see "OMG Sanji/One Piece is sooooo SEXIST" topic is still alive and well. Oh you guys are too much XD Man, you guys know how to take a Sanji gag to the CORE! Haha!
Honestly, I don't think Sanji's whole "I won't fight women" is suppose to put woman in a corner and label them "weak". You have to take a moment and think why Sanji refuses to fight women. He WORSHIPS women...good, bad, etc. He doesn't think women are "weak" more like these "magically beings" that should not be threaten. Sanji loves women. Period. So I really can't see him beating the shit out something he loves more than his very own life.
But "OMG! He would really risk his crew's life just cause he refuses to fight women?!" Blah blah blah.
Yeah. I know...that doesn't really sound right, does it? But I think Sanji believes women are inherently good and he can some how snap them out of their "bad" ways. I know that's not really true, but it's something Sanji truly has his heart set on. So he won't kick them, he'll reason with them. Which I find refreshing. Violence isn't always the answer, people.
And one more thing...I think another reason why Sanji didn't fight back against Violet beating the shit out of him was because he was into it. Yeah, I said it. Sanji is into S&M. When Violet used her DF to look into his mind...she was freaking out for good reason. Sanji is into some freaky shit!

Plot twist: The whole reason Violet changed her intentions was because she was into what she saw in Sanji's mind.

Sorry, I meant posters who dismiss any feminist critiques of Sanji in general and say that readers should just not care about sexism in OP. And while I'm personally okay with this chapter, I can see why other women would view it as another part of a bad trend; so yeah, I do find guys who completely dismiss that (rather than just "I don't see it myself") kind of obnoxious.
I think something unpredictable will happen this arc. Anyone else think that it's about time for Luffy to meet up with his father?
I sort of doubt we'll have a Luffy/Dragon meeting, with everything else that is going on, but I'm hoping that we'll see some revolutionary action, at least behind the scenes. With these WG shenanigans, it seems like a good point to reintroduce them.
So much enertaining content in one chapter. Am so loving this arc.
@Tom:

That's what I'm saying, my man. That's what saying! People were looking at this thing the whole wrong way.

Hehe. Me too. I agree with you. I understand that everyone is different and that in the entire world there are judgemental, racist and sexist people. I know that it will be like that for a long time, if not for as long as humans exist. I was just being an optimistic thinker when I wrote that post. Also from personal experiences and thoughts. Sometimes I just wish things were different… but don't we all...
I can see why other women would view it as another part of a bad trend; so yeah, I do find guys who completely dismiss that (rather than just "I don't see it myself") kind of obnoxious.
That there is something that bothers me. Why only guys? Isn't equality the thing feminists strive for. I don't think it makes sense to act as if two different creatures should be treated as one when it comes down to those differences, but on the internet there's not really genders because you can't instantly know if a poster is a guy or a gal. Still some people like to point out that something happens because the poster is of a specific gender. That's just irrational if you ask me.
I'll also add a disclaimer because I'm afraid someone takes this the wrong way. The thing with women and men being different is, that starting from body structure there's differences. I'm not saying women should be payed less just because they're women. I'm saying it makes sense women don't lift as much weight as men. Women are more flexible (physically) than men. I don't understand how acknowledging these differences makes anyone anything else than a realist.
Jesus Christ. I hate all of you.
Actually you could just turn the whole thing around and say Sanji is sexist against men, because he treats them a lot worse.
But seriously, Sanji was always like this and I'm starting to praise him for it like Nami did because it's the only thing to do other than thinking it's Sanji being an idiot again. I don't think he thinks women are weak, like pointed out earlier. And I honestly have a bigger problem with how he treats men, especially the men on the crew.

See, I don't hava a problem with that either so I assume I'm being exactly the kind of person I'm supposed to be. And you're sexist.
No not really I'm just kidding.

Everyone is sexist. No, I was turning it around since that's possible, too and not everything always has be sexist against women. It just depends on how you see things. Ok I'm out.
I don't know what's more irritating: all this sexism bullshit or that one poster the other day that spammed the Naruto board with homoerotic pictures.

Definitely the sexism, always the sexism bullshit
I was thoroughly impressed with this chapter, and I suspect that Doflamingo definitely has some connections that is sure to rock the OP world. CD comes to mind…
