@auem:
I doubt 'big three' is just a 'a concept of western fandom'….sales speaks otherwise...Bleach is among top 10 highest selling mangas of all time,along with OP,Naruto,HxH and Kochikame(to think half of the list are still running,all in the same magazine!)....
The length and running time of Bleach has certainly made it possible for it to be among the manag best sellers, that point stands and no one argues that. But that doesn't support the assumed "big three" at all. Even in Shonen Jack alone it was behind Hunter x Hunter, even despite it's unstable schedule, and behind Kochikame, due to its much more longer running history. Recently, Kuroko no Basket has also caught up with it thanks to its successful anime. If we look at Shueisha as a whole, there are more successful Blue Exorcist, Kimi ni Todoke and Nana. And that's just a single publisher.
@auem:
last month i saw here a list where estimated sale of Bleach totaled to 82m….it is running for 13 years...so that means an average of 6m+ a year...yet your data shows in past 5 years it averaged around 3m+.....so clearly there was a time when it was selling to the point of 7-8m/year...enough to be among top 3 most selling mangas of the year if that estimation was right...
I posted the Oricon numbers that are counted for every new volume since 2008. It doesn't take in account earlier volumes that are constanly on sale but don't make the weekly lists. The unaccounted few millions come from these.
And the list you are talking about, I think most of us have seen it posted over here. For one it has only Shonen Jack data. Furthermore, it looks like that list fails to update any data that wasn't announced by Oricon. It is far from being a credible source.
