@Monkey:
lol that was the 2012 election, and it didn't save them.
GOP didnt had that good nominees, Mitt Romney being mormon didnt help at it, also Obama had done quite well in economic crisis and somewhat stabilazed economic crisis that was looking pretty bad at 2008-2009. Obama also got Bin Laden killled, didnt made any personal scandals and perhaps only popular gripe (from republican voters) was Medicare what was actually good change.
Obama, if not outstanding first term had done quite well and economy was rather stable, not perfect but good enough (specially when GOP acting major asses and cockblocking all Obama's initiatives by sheer stubborness)
Hellloooo last four years.
What I meant with economic crisis is not like problems we face today, I mean really 'shit hits the fan' with over 15-25% unembloyment, real depression with repercussions and civil unrest, when times would get desperate enough people would cling and straw that could help. Thats how nazis got power in 1920/30's Germany.
Of course comparing 1930's germany with modern USA is ridicililous but democracy can be like that when people are desperate.
This is all just hypothesis for an extreme scenario, while I dont think economy problems will be fixed in a year or two I think stability will be maintained and growth achieved in few years.
