You guys realize that anecdotal evidence is pretty much useless right? Knowing someone who old and smokes a ton and is fine proves nothing because there are far more old smokers who are not fine
Nardo and Bleh Thread III: Naruto is a terrible terrible manga

Yes. Of course. All I said was some people are built hartier than most even with vices that kill most people. Implying Oda may be one of the hartier so we should stop worrying about his habits we have no influence over.
-
Anyways, given the state of the sesk as a whole, it wouldn't surprise me if some of those cigarette butts were old one he just never got around to throwing out. Nothing says they had to all have been from the same day if it's just the picture you're using to base things on
-
If Oda wants to smoke, let him. It's his right. Is it unhealthy for him? Yeah, probably, and there's pretty strong scientific evidence to support it. But again, it's his right.
Maybe he'll get cancer, maybe he won't. Maybe he'll get hit by a bus, maybe he won't. My experience is that I have several family members who smoked for many years (at least one still does) and as far as I know, none of them have had cancer and maybe one or two may have had complications that may have arose from smoking.
So, do we know if Kishi and Kubo smoke? (just to keep the thread on topic)
-
What kind of public conversation about the dangers of smoking is there in Japan? The largest tobacco company is half owned by the government, right?
-
Who says Oda smoked all those cigarettes in one day? Maybe he just didn't clean his ashtray.
-
Let's say Oda is an average smoker. Someone who smokes heavily, usually smokes a pack a day, if not more. From my experience my buddies usually save a pack for 2-3 days, me I only last two usually. So, to a normal smoker ten cigs isn't much, just average. Besides, maybe he was just lazy and didn't throw the cigs out and let them build up.
Let the man smoke if he wishes.
-
Who wouldnt want some of these:

!To commemorate Jump's 45th anniversary Shuiesha is offering a new line of designer pants for a limited time https://mekke.shueisha.co.jp/CGI/mek…&word=130301ss
-
I don't know anyone that empties their ash tray on a daily basis. It piles up for a week or a month at a time, and only gets empties once the cigs are spilling out.
…and most smokers do about a pack a day. Just how the addiction is.
The man already doesn't sleep, what more do you want him to give up?
-
Haha does anyone else think it's hilarious that the naruto/bleach thread derailed to "OH GOD ODA SMOKES SO MUCH"
Show's how great the current mangas are LOLLL.
Seriously though, he should spend $300 bucks on one of those water filter cigg's. My parents recently converted abotu 2 years ago and they swear to god the nicotine gives the identical rush.

Family, food, breathing…

So what struck me the most about the latest Naruto is civilians also having a good tendency to die by their 30's in that era.
It's an era of constant ninja warfare. And then in the present we have a system where civilians go to ninja villages and hire ninja to do any ol' random work. Considering that there were ninja world wars up until Sarutobi's time, the dude did an amazing job (re?)building ninja reputation from "oh hey, their fighting is killing us before we're old too" to "let's go hire some ninja rookies to do some farm labor!" during his administration.Or Kishi totally forgot about that part of his setting.
-
It's funny, the more I read old Naruto the funnier some things seem. Like originally ninja looked impressive then by the war the same ninja look like mooks compared with a handful of legends here and there, including those natural geniuses and those who worked for it. I'm actually stopping reading both Naruto and Bleach until they end so I might have to leave this thread soon. I've already stopped my rereading of Bleach at the chapter before the newest arc begins. As for Naruto I am currently rereading it at the beginning of the Forest of Death arc, and as soon as I have finished chapter 514 (the last one before the war arc) I will not be reading any new Naruto chapters until the series has ended.
-
I think the only reason I even read these series is because of these threads and the associated blogs.
-
I also don't know why I still continue to read them both, yes bleach kinda picked up a little after the stupid fullbring arc, but is still not all that great. It's just that everytime I say to myself that I need to stop reading them both, after a couple of weeks I start reading them again. After so many years of following these two manga and especially after getting hooked on both of them by watching the anime adaptations way back when, I think I just can't lose the habbit of wanting to read them no matter how bad they get.

I stopped reading Bleach and Naruto for about a month each. What really makes returning to them so easy, I think, is that the amount of time apparently required to stay up to date is a trifle.
-
I bet at least half Bleach and Naruto fans are still fans because of what they used to be. If only Kubo had used Orihime to take out Aizen with the Hyogyoku, that would have been a brilliant move. And in Naruto if Kabuto had been caught and executed the series wouldn't have had Blackest Night: shitty edition.
-
Hell, I only still follow these two cause I pay for a WSJ subscription. And I'll be damned if I'm not reading the entirety of each issue to get my money's worth.

It takes about 2 minutes for me to read one chapter of both Naruto and Bleach. I read it because i want to know what happens, like you said, after so many years reading them, you jsut want to know. Still, it has been a long time since i was actually invested in the 2 series. There are so many blunders still happening but you just stop caring and follow the plot.

That was also before Kishi decided that two races would overshadow everyone in the entire world.
After dropping that bomb, it was kinda pointless to even focus on anyone else.
In fact, Naruto would've been far more interesting if he was a "child of fate" to begin with, and the entire series was doing everything they can from stopping the inevitable rival battle of mass destruction.
I do love a good under dog story, but since is the way Kishi was planning on taking the story, I'd have rather he went the other route and flipped the situation.
-
I've been reading Naruto for almost a decade. It'd be pointless to stop now.
Bleach for only about 7, but same deal.
-
I'm still going to be reading both, just when they have ended. I cannot bear to put the strain on my weekly One Piece reading any more.
-
I honestly haven't read naruto properly since the ginkaku, kinkaku, chapter. Only till recent events have I been following (still nothing of interest is going on.) So ill probably have to restart at the beginning of the war arc at some point.
-
And that's me sealed up Naruto. I couldn't bear rereading just to try and change my rankings. I give the manga 9 out of 10 until the war arc then I stop grading out of fear the manga would just get worse and worse. Everything before the zombies is fine even the slow bits. In my mind the manga ended with Naruto heading to beat Madara and then Sasuke. My favourite characters died with dignity including the baddies.
I will reread the final arc when the series is done. If it gets really shitty I will write off the entire "war" as editor fanfic and pretend it never happened. Same for Bleach.
-
honestly it shouldve just been wrapped up by the pain arc. while it may have still been flawed, even then. it would leave a much better taste in peoples mouth then what we are getting now. but what can you do? im in it till the end.
-
I stopped reading both of the series for like… a good year/year and a half, maybe even two. Only started reading again because I began frequenting this site more often, and the posts on this topic were hilarious. Too bad I wasn't around for the fullbring arc, that seems like it would've been fun.

http://www.mangapanda.com/naruto/623 Enjoy.
The memes at the end are the worst ever.

chapter's out: http://www.mangareader.net/naruto/623
Edit: wow three posts for Naruto all at the same time
! So both Madara and Hashirama had the same lives, with the same types of fathers and little brothers, yet one went crazy and the other gets scolded by his little brother.
-
Was I the only one confused about Madara taking a piss and something about it being his "weakness"?
-
Ugh, the only thing I have to comment about is freaking MangaPanda's pic with all those Sasuke paper drawings. SHUDDER WHY did I look at all of them?!

They're not nearly as bad as the meme picks…this one was REALLY bad...ugh.
-
I hope Izuna turns out to be a complete jackass like Tobirama so we ultimately don't feel bad about Madara gouging his eyes out for retarded reasons
-

i get the feeling we are going to see someone defeat madara by being behind him in some way. But yeah that whole scene was weird, did we really need to see madara shudder during his piss? And good lord the horrid mangapanda memes are back

"Hey! Let's take time to include this crap instead of translating our other manga!"

When I see them post this crap it makes me actually think that they LIKE Naruto. HAHAHAHA, I know.

Just when I thought we need a new title for the thread…

On that same page, Madara says he has a habit of making excuses when he's in the wrong.
Making excuses.
Yeah.
That's this whole fucking arc. Scratch that, it's his whole fucking life story.
Yeah. This bitch hasn't changed at all.
-
Why would you guys keep reading on after the chapters end, week after week? You know what's coming! Just close the tab after the chapter concludes and you won't have your intelligence insulted by stupid memes. That's what I do…
-
Kishimoto likes to include his piss scenes doesn't he?
And as usual mangapanda prove that a braindead horse is in charge of things there.
-
Huh…so Madara's weakness is someone sneaking up behind him while he's taking a piss. Alright, I really hope this isn't foreshadowing for his demise in the war...pfft

The Valley of the End has a giant waterfall. Just sayin.

It's the same thing that pushes me to eat hot pepper after my mouth is already on fire.
-
Kishi just couldn't resist drawing his fetish. Young Madara is Sasuke.

Bleach is out: http://www.mangapanda.com/bleach/529

well someone is back to troll us once again lol

@Mark:

All according to his plan.

@Zik:
All according to his plan.
At what point did you assume that he was ever gone in the first place?
Edit: The super slow reveal is the cherry on top. Who else thought that was hilarious?
