@Badass:
But Monet was literally stabbed in the freakin' heart. If she survived, how could that possibly be explained away?
"It wasn't stabbed all the way through". That's good enough for One Piece

Wouldn't it have been smarter to do a poll in this thread? It's going to be hard to keep track of all the people on both sides. Maybe a mod could edit this thread and add it (making sure to slect the function that let's us see who voted for what of course)?

I considered that, but then I got the feeling that people wou;ld just vote without realizing the whole betting thing, so I wanted people to know that, by commenting, they were agreeing to the wager.
was there a thread like this when ace got fisted by akinu
Probably not, because that was resolved withing a week. Who knows how long it'll be before we get an answer to Monet.
Pell will come and sacrifice himself (again) to save Monet.
I will go with **Not dead,**because I don't see the point.
Monet is not really developed or cool character for the reader to care.
And this will not show how "the New world is super-duper serious"
Only that Caesar is a moron and Law is '"cool and smart".
@Rogues':
I have a feeling that over the next three weeks, this will be the Berlin Wall that divides Arlong Park.
Who's Reagan, and who's Gorbachev?
Smoker collapsed and passed out after Law removed his heart despite it being completely non-life threatening, so that's hardly an indicator.
Again, we don't know what the rules are for logia's native element, or what she did or didn't do when she was stabbed, so arguing about it is pointless.
Because Law had to grab his heart before putting it in the "box like thing".
Not sure how this disproves anything, because all you're saying is that Smoker felt pain because his heart was touched.
The fact that she coughed up blood, and that we saw the knife go into the heart, shows that it wasn't snow.
My fetish demands me to bet on the "Not Dead" option.
Dead. Hopefully she is anyway. So put me down for dead
By the way, put me down for dead.
I tried stewing my brain for a while and couldn't really think of any humiliating signatures or avatars related to Monet or the artist Claude Monet that aren't terrible. If anyone wants to try making the concept for a sig/avatar people wear if they lose the wager, I'm all ears… You've got impressionism to work with (Claude Monet's art style), Monet's astrology interest, her wings, just all kinds of stuff. Preferably it'd be a silly picture with text ... but I can't think of anything! For this to be fun I think there has to be a little sting from the loss.
Heck, it really doesn't have to be embarassing, so, do we have anyone who would be willing to attempt an emulation of Monet's style with two different pictures, one of Monet alive, and one of her dead?
Whoever loses will have to wear the opposite of what they picked. I think this would be a fun way to also help sponsor some local AP artists.
Also, I realize this might be difficult as Monet was an impressionist and was father fond of landscapes, but we gotta figure something out! We only have 3 weeks!
I will ride the "Not Dead" bus just because this is One Piece peole.
Alrighty, the first post should be updated with everyone, check it and let me know if there's a mistake. I'm going to be now, so I'll update again in the morning.

I admire your conviction.
Me, I'll wait and see.
I really don't want her to be dead but i'm gonna go with dead or more accurately soon-to-be dead
Ace is not dead!
Not dead.
I'll be happy if she is, but she's not.
Not dead.
It would be nice, but she really isn't.
Fail I meant to say she is DEAD…...god my engrish failed me...
I'm on the Dead train(camp?). I don't know if she's really dead,but I'd like her to be.It just wouldn't feel right especially after this beautiful page.
EDIT: Though Pell also had his awesome "last moment" and he survived. :ninja:
I'm going with not dead.
This is still the series where a dude survived an city-leveling explosion point-blank, AND plummeted back down to earth, and only needed a crutch. Plus there's the fact that Monet didn't have to be dead, she just had to be kept from doing what she was doing, and being unconscious and near-death does the same thing. I'm convinced Oda is saving character deaths for more important characters, and he's still on record as saying he doesn't like killing villains anyway.
I'm gonna go with not dead but if she dies I will happily change my Avatar to something ridiculous because I think it would be much better if she died.
Not dead.
I don't mind either way, but she isn't.
Both not dead
10 characters
I'm going with not dead.The fact that we had law smirking as she died just seems pointlessly callous and cruel(for this series) plus I believe that pell surviving the bomb was a way for ODA to reinforce the impact of the two deaths we saw, so him just killing of a character like that just seems off.
not dead.
oda only sacrifice people for special ocassion only. ace and WB died so that we can see the new age (and the time skip). monet's death will not give us anything so she wont die.
not dead.

This was mentioned earlier.. but…
What did Mr. 11's death give us?
Not dead and i will not be happy if she is.
we already have Pell, and Oda is not stupid enough to make a same mistake twice
Not dead and I guess I'm going against the grain when I say that I don't want her to be. Oda has already dropped the ball for some kind of "part 2 will be darker, people will die" message when he had Hody Jones live after his repeated overdosing on extremely dangerous drugs. If he was going for that, Hody was -the- opportunity. Since he didn't take, attempting to do it now with Monet and/or Vergo won't be satisfying but only awkward and annoying.
My guess is that Doflamingo will arrive, see Caesar and the heart, realize what happened with Monet and then rush in. Nothing short of urgent medical treatment should realistically - within the One Piece universe - save her at this point but as people have said, it's not stabbed all the way through, icicle etc.
Zombie -16characters-
I'm on the dead team.
Not dead obviously.
The manga section of this board is filled with laughs. Was this kind of thread made for Brownbeard too, lol?
Gyahahaha this sounds fun! I'm in, Monet's NOT DEAD!
Obviously not dead. Monet ain't no Ace and Whitebeard she is just another Pell, Papaya, Mr.3, Bon Clay etc.
Dead. It will be shitty writing if she isn't.
I picked "not dead" before I read the contract. Oh well.
There seemed to be a lot going on with her when looking between the lines so I fully expect that to get fleshed out resulting in NOT bad writing.
I'm just mostly bugged by the theory of her being an astronomer.
There is obviously more to her and there might be another fight with her, along with Vergo. They are clearly pretty important to Donflamingo.
Nope, neither of them definitely not dead.
Not dead. There's more to her.
Ehhh!!! I love polls and wagers.
I vote dead just to spice things up in the manga. The New World needs a good showing of cruelty right off the bat.
But, we all know that it just struck the "evil" part of her heart and now she'll turn to the good side. Plus, she's got that magical harpy heart.
Definitely dead.
She's not dead. But its a silly bet as it might take Oda a long time to show.
It took him almost 2 years to show Bon Kurei was still alive for instance. And Sabo. Doesn't change the fact that we knew they were alive the first week out and from then onward.
But sometimes Oda takes a while.
Heck, how many years did it take to reveal Mr. 9 was alive and had a kid with Miss Monday? 500 chapters? Ten years?
(And really, as long as she's revealed to be alive any time before the end of the series…)
At what point do you officially decide she'd dead? After the next arc is done and the next set of "where are they now" coverstories has passed?
This is hard, both sides have dome pretty good arguments, but I love her, so I am gonna say that she is NOT dead! Sign me in.
Girl's alive and kicking.
Oh she's alive alright. CC didn't crush her heart or make it unable to heal. Just a lil' stab wound just temporarily taking her out.
@Sonic:

Unless somebody heals it for her, she will bleed out.
For me she's dead
@Galaxy:

You can only die of loss of blood in flashbacks (I'm looking at you Tiger).
And is the blood in Monets body teleported to the heart? Because if not, she can't die of that.
@Sonic:

If the heart wasn't still part of her body, she wouldn't have coughed up blood in the first place.

Just like
that somebody
that healed
that guy
that bit off his tougue to avoid being sold
, amarite?
