@Thousand:
This talk about the changing of the era and how the time of the old regime is past wouldn't have made sense if it came from Luffy, he doesn't care about that stuff. But it needed to be said regardless. Law wasn't even really saying that he's going to mess up this era as much as WE'RE going to mess up this era (Luffy, Apoo, Hawkins and Kidd included along with the rest of the SN).
Just because other people are involved doesn't mean that its not Law pulling the strings, that its not Laws master Plan that is messing up Doflamingo. My issue is not that Law talks politics and not Luffy, its that the scene exists in the first place. Because I hate, HATE the thought of people playing puppeteer with Luffy.
10 Chapters ago, Luffy encountered and punched Caesar. Last week it happened again, only it was 1000x more awesome. Why was that?
Second time Luffy punched Caesar because he really wanted to.
First time Luffy did it because shrug Law asked me to.
And call me old fashioned, but when villains have set up giant schemes, I kind of like the main protagonist to be the one to pick them apart.
Imagine if all of Alabasta was just Luffy taking down Crocodile because it fitted in someone ELSES designs, someone who had way more beef with Croc, someone who had just kinda strung Luffy along the entire arc. That would be immensely shitty.
@Thousand:
Really, I never got your hate for Law though. I personally think he is a legitimately interesting character, unpredictable and downright scary at times.
Law is uninspired, bland, boring, quirkless, mirthless, run of the mill, the kind of character a mangaka can create drunk, blindfolded and in two seconds. Lacking in personality, design, well defined powers and emotional connectivety, he is as far from what endears OP characters to me as can be.
@Thousand:
It seems to me you don't like him just because he fits into the chessmaster bishie archetype but come on, he's no Aizen.
At least Aizen was entertaining in his over the top impossibleness.
@Thousand:
For one thing, there's actual substance to his character, there is something beneath his surface be it loyalty to his crew, a strong desire to get out of being under Doflamingo's thumb and make a name for himself and a desire to be challenged (hence why he saved Luffy in Marineford).
His "substance" is that we don't know his substance. With a character like Caesar, I love him because of stuff like last chapters scene. Kinemon has a fun personality, and a wide range of hilarious and entertaining scenes. With Law…I'm supposed to likehim because he's Important? Because he has Strength Feats? Because I don't know anything about him?
@Thousand:
Also, his plans actually make sense,
How did he switch chains without anyone noticing. How did he expect to remain undercover when he took out CCs men on the way to the Straw Hats mountain hideout. If he really did have a way to instantly get his heart back, why not just destroy the SAD, grab Caesar and leave.
@Thousand:
he has a very cool power,
Ridiculously overpowered, grab-bag power
@Thousand:
he's gotten his face smashed in by Vergo so he is mortal and not untouchable and he has his weird quirks (like collecting polar bears). Execution is everything and I think his character is done well.
Bepo being awesome means Bepo is awesome, not Law. Otherwise, you're saying Satori makes Enel suck.
And Vergos shining moment of Law beatdown seems immaterial when Law finishes off the guy, in Max Serious 100% armor mode with one blow.
@Thousand:
Also complaining about him getting attention? Of course he's going to get attention, this is an arc dedicated to building up his character for later arcs. He has a purpose in Oda's story, he's not getting attention just because of fan polls. Give the author more credit than that. He's no Kubo. What? Did you complain about Shirahoshi getting an excessive amount of screen-time too?
Maybe I don't like the excessive character focus because I feel his character and what he stands for is awful? Also, all the Law-focus and post-arc buildup distracts from the drama of the current arc.
Brownbeard, Kinemon/Momonosuke, Drugged Kids >>>>>>>>>>>> Law, setup, Law, setup. Again, 11/36 chapters have LAW!!!! Cliffhangers.
Shirahoshi was at least integral to the drama of fishman island itself.

@Gliblord:
Also, when it comes to Logia tangibility, come on guys. Luffy was able to kick Aokiji up into the air during his first encounter.
Compared to Smoke, Ice is rather solid.
@Gliblord:
And there's the small fact that if Logia users weren't able to turn their power off, it wouldn't make any sense (how would they be able to pick things up etc.)
Same way Luffy can chew thinks, Alvida wears clothing, Logias/Doublefinger/Zoan users don't get nude all the time etc.
