@choperman:
what I hate was the terrible execution of the seven swordsmen of the mist I looked forward all of part 2 to seeing them and then we get pale lifeless zombie versions with no personality no defining moments just there names and swords
Yes, the whole war had so much potential. I remember, that when it started, OP was in their post-war chapters (which were for me pretty boring), and it was like the first time ever, I looked much more forward to new naruto chapters than OP ones. I thought, the war even started better, with the whole divisions and actually war strategy included and when the two reconnaissance squads met. Of course, the strategy was swiftly dismissed, the war degraded to one-on-one-fights and then it only got worse.
Here my two cents, how the war got have been handled better:
->DEATHS. Or at least defeats for the good guys. How in hell could there be any tension, when the bad guys have literary lost every single fight? In the OP war we had admirals, vice-admirals and shichis styling all over their opponents and here even former Kages (who are hyped as the strongest ever) could not defeat a single named character
-> Combined with this, there should be an emphasis on how traumatic war is (this point was already often pointed out in this forum). Some of the Konoha 11 should die or someone very close to naruto. This should spark some real emotions, even reach a point, where characters are questioning the sense of the war and if two lives (naruto, killer bee) are really worth all the fighting and suffering. I want to see cracks in the ninja coalition, when some dont want to fight this "war for the sake of the hidden cloud or hidden leaf only" anymore.
->The war should have been for a large part from the point of view of the opponents. I think here along the lines of the Yorkshin arc from HxH
->The 7 swordsman of the mist for example should have gotten an own volume centered around them. Just take one or two of them, dive into their past, let them interact with the rest of the swordsman (e-g- who was the strongest of them), let them kill some named characters before losing.
->The same for the former kages. Let them accomplish some amazing feats before losing. Corroborate on the difference between the generations. Hell, let some of the older guys from the ninja alliance change sides, because of old loyalty.
->Give Akatsuki an own volume. I mean, everyone loves these guys. I think, one of the single things, where haters and hardcore fans agree, is that Akatsuki died way too early. Just let them style a last time and go out with guns ablaze
->Let Itachi and Pein remain bad guys. Let them kill one of the current kages, just to drive the point home, that they had surpassed the kage level
->Of course give the Konoha 11 spotlight. Some of them should be killed (and not unimportant ones like Tenten), but on the other hand, they should also accomplish something amazing before.
->Give sakura a major fight. For example, let her defeat Kabuto, to get her indirect revange on orochimaru for tainting sasuke. Just reduce her gap to naruto/sasuke a little bit.
-> And last: A lot less naruto, a lot less pokemon, a lot less dragon ball z fights and more actual skills and tactics involved
