Sweet chapter. Chopper and Nami kicked ass…..and oh man, Franky's mecha was incredible.
Luffy smashing his foot into Hodi sealed the deal.

Franky was great and Luffy kicked Hodi without gears. Hodi becomes more of a failure every chapter. Atleast land a hit on Luffy.

Everytime Luffy hits him he just gets up and sits in his chair again, hahaha. I hope Hyozou wakes up soon, he's been sleeping since the Straw Hats arrived.
I like how there is a slight match up difference compared to Arlong Park. Sanji fought the shark relative, while Zoro took on the octopus. Now Zoro has the shark and Sanji has the octopus relative. I would be very surprised if the Noa doesn't split them up rematching Zoro with Hyozou.

No kidding. I thought we would've actually reached an end to that with his super shocked face when Luffy beat half his army without lifting a finger, but nope. It seems nothing can burst his bubble. Freaking Crocodile was more humble than this guy.
True enough, if he was a cyborg at that meeting there wouldn't have been enough time, in which case I guess he wasn't made of WSteel.
Kuma could still have been made of WSteel when the strawhats met him at Thriller Bark, since he was still undergoing development by Vegapunk at that point. So there would have been enough time between the Drum arc and Thriller Bark arc for Vegapunk to incorporate WSteel into Kuma.
By the way wasn't it confirmed that the walls at Marineford were made of WSteel in a SBS? I'm pretty sure I saw that somewhere.
@Sonic:
I dunno, there's something really off about this whole arc.
I don't know if it can be saved…
All depends on how long Hodi and his gang stay around. I think once they're gone everything will be just peachy. Oda's placing some red herrings within the story, like Sunny already being coated making some people think Fishman Island is already close to over, but either that coating lasts super long because it was done by Den and/or Franky or the Straw Hats will be moving to a different location for part 2 of this arc. There's still a lot of plot points to cover in this arc, Van Der Decken's lineage coming into play, Shirley's prediction, that thing Van Der Decken mentioned in the flashback (Tametebako) that can age someone, Noah obviously – especially with what the King just said on the last page of the chapter, etc etc.
Awesome chapter. I love Chopper's new look and Oda incorporating Wapometal, something from a long-ago cover story, just keeps raising the likelihood for other things in cover stories to play a part in the story (like Enel and his spacey army!). Franky is obviously awesome, love that Nami has a 1-hit short-ranged attack that doesn't have to charge to add into her arsenal, but I feel what the king said at the end of this chapter is very important about "The Day That Must Come". I'd love an accurate translation of his bottom panel of King Neptune on the last spread of the chapter.

At least he's not as bad as Eneru. This power of his is "new", so he doesn't yet think that he's some invincible god demon thing, he just doesn't understand that a human could possibly be stronger than him.
Wonderful chapter. I like how Oda finally stated the wapolsteel as the real deal special alloy. I like it when he shows things on cover stories, then mentions them and then they make an official entrance. And the whole "Your dreams came true with my hands" is just icing on the cake. And I'm happy that these annoying henchmen are getting knocked down with just one hit.
But I still don't get what Chopper said. Can't get these six forms counted. I'll just wait and see more of his action and it will straight itself out. It's nice that he trained to distort his wavelengths so much that he can transform without ball. And I'm curious how his human form looks now, it has not been shown yet for a reason. Of surprise at least.

Well, to be fair, Eneru WAS some invincible god demon thing, and there was nothing, ever, to make anyone around him believe otherwise since rubber didn't exist up there, it's understandable he thought that way. Hody is just ignorant and naive. Eneru at least realised his mistake and acted accordingly, while Hody just gets bitch-slapped in the face over and over again. :ninja:
The whole thing with Luffy getting emotional because of Surume's brother's didn't really affect me much. In fact, the only thing Luffy's done that got a rise out of me since the flashback was the "meat and hero" joke. I'm more interested in the other crew members atm.
That's an interesting theory but the size and shape of the creatures difffer vastly from Surume.
Hodi says his brothers are in the arctic, and I don't recall the Florian being really cold. So that theory shouldn't be right.

When this arc is over, we should have a montage of Hody getting owned.

Personally I think Luffy getting pissed at Mohji for burning down a pet food shop was more emotional than the freaking Kraken of all things. IDK how it's possible to make a Kraken boring, but maybe that's because it felt completely random. Forget the Kraken, I want to see Mohmoo again.
If the translation is correct and he said North Pole, then it should be right in the center of North Blue.
If the translation is correct and he said North Pole, then it should be right in the center of North Blue.
Nah it wouldn't be. North Blue is just named like that but is geographically the same as East Blue; from the equator to the North Pole and surrounded by the Red Line.

In the geography thread it was discused that the blues are in fact in the correct positions, meaning that North and South poles are in the middle of north and south blue, and the equator isn't the grand line, this was supported by the fact that in maps who showed a compass the red line and the grand line were in an X form.

You're assuming the Grand Line is the equator and there's no reason to assume that other than how the maps are laid out, which suspiciously lack a compass. I've always thought it'd make more sense if the Grand Line and red line formed an x when the map is lined up north and south. That would also give the names of all the blues more meaning.
Damn, ninja'd.
My mistake then. Yeah, I came to conclusions too quickly based on assumptions… that of course makes indeed more sense now. :ninja:
Chopper looks human and badass in his new horn point so I command everyone to be happy for him :D
i doubt if this would happen but with if this aging thing that was put on weakoshi or w.e the princesses name is is put on luffy? we could get a older/supper bad ass luffy =) this would be epic imo
hell yeah , but the most important is what isthe role of noa
Danm the NFP are really no match… but this battle was lost from the start... I see this whole crisis as a showcase of the evolution of the straw hat force power. The real challange will come when they get to the new world
By the way wasn't it confirmed that the walls at Marineford were made of WSteel in a SBS? I'm pretty sure I saw that somewhere.
No, Pretty sure it wasn't said so.

And your assuming that Surume's "brothers" wouldn't travel outside the North Pole to go and find him. Clearly they have a strong connection, given how much Surume is willing to do for them. No reason to think the feelings aren't mutual. I kinda like Dinty's idea about the animals in the mist. No matter the odd differences in the silhouette–it is a possibility.
Anyway--thank you to Noqanky, cooldud_21, BigLuffy559, Otakufan, and Nanlit for clearing things up for me about the Walpometal…
...and great theory, Red, on how Wapole came up with the idea. I like it. Makes sense that Luffy would have been in Walpole's thoughts as he sat under that bridge feeling sorry for himself and taking stock of what happened–not hard to see how he could have been inspired by those thoughts to invent his metal.
No matter how much we discuss them, Chopper's forms will still confuse me until they are all individually unwrapped, like presents Christmas morning, so I can see each one. I'm looking forward to it.
I agree with Juvar that the scene where Luffy makes a badass walk through enemies without a care in the world was enormously cool!
Cannot wait to find out what Noah is about. I also think this is gonna be a two part arc, but I've been saying that for quite a few chapters now. Franky certainly made a Supah comeback. Very cool robot.
Everything else of note has been said by others.
Usopp was waiting for a chance to fight! Brilliant! And Chopper and Franky are more beneath the eyes.
Oh yeah, great job MS for FINALLY getting the giant ship's name right.
You know, I simple explanation for Chopper using Rumble ball way back then could be that he was considering using Monster Point. It's a boring explanation, though great if you don't want to believe Oda made a mistake.
I don't get what was so badass about Luffy walking towards Hodi. I mean it's not Like he's Rai from Noblesse…

I think that is by far the best explination. He was defending against the kraken after all, maybe he thought he might have needed it. I said it several times in a few threads but I think it's a pretty unpopular theory. Even if it was a mistake by Oda, you know thats how he would explain it in an SBS.
I cringe a bit when I see mecha. But it was to be expected. All in all not bad chapter, nice ending (Noah's ship!) and I loved how Luffy just walked through those guys and ignored them. Totally in sync with zoro and Sanji cleaning them up :)
awesome chapter!
maybe I am the only one but i don't really like franky's new things…

You're not, I had the same reaction. Finding the whole mecha development kinda obvious and meh.

Exactly!I liked much more the things we saw from the rest of the strawhats than franky…I just hope that when we see more it will get more interesting

I don't think it was meant to be seen as "badass", but more like nothing can stop Luffy and the others from tearing shit up.
Anyways, I have a question. Chopper stated he can transform into 6 forms at will, but I only saw five in the panel. Are we supposed to assume that Heavy Point is still in the mix or is Oda keeping it a surprise for later?
awesome chapter!

Yeah but Oda always wanted to make a manga about mecha, but since OP is taking so long (I think he meant it to last 5 years when he started) I was totally expecting mecha to slip into OP more and more. I hate it too.
Just wait until the whole ship transforms to fight San Juan Wolf lateron shudders
The new chapter was awesome :D
I like Franky's Giant Robot and Chopper's New Horn Point

god no not a transforming ship. besides, how the hell would that even work? What about all the stuff inside the ship? I hope Sunny doesn't go that route. I'd like to believe that San Juan Wolf will get his ass kicked by monster chopper or… something that's not mecha.

When I look at that picture carefully I believe forms 6 and 7 are shadowed in back. Chances are both are gigantic. There is nothing but emphasis lines and dark shapes in back. Some of the dark shapes in back look furry as well. His man form could be so big at the moment he chooses to stay small for practical reasons.
Luffy's bamf walk towards Hodi reminded me fondly of Strong World
Hee, yep. Zoro and Sanji blocking the two henchmen too.
Nami's 'Gust-sword' reminds me a bit of the 'gas bazooka' Wiper uses in the Skypia arc. Overal this chapter was awesome!
How much more brilliant can a manga get!
Adding this to the Chopper rumble ball part:
I think it's highly plausible that the five displayed forms in the latest chapter are forms he can use 'without' rumble ball, since the forms are displayed behind him. That leaves two forms which aren't displayed in the latest chapter. Pre-TS we saw chopper in his human form, the dark display in the back could be this form or, since chopper points out that he needs the rumble ball for one form it could also be this 'mistery' form in the back of that picture.
god no not a transforming ship. besides, how the hell would that even work? What about all the stuff inside the ship?
How does anything work really. Sometimes it just does. Like how can chopper dig with his horns, is that some new technique moles haven't invented yet? :P
I hope Sunny doesn't go that route. I'd like to believe that San Juan Wolf will get his ass kicked by monster chopper or… something that's not mecha.
Yeah monster chopper is my hope too. But we'll have to see.
I liked franky's mecha form but i hope his 1 vs 1 fights doesn't involve it.
Yeah monster chopper is my hope too. But we'll have to see.
Sanjuan Wolf is one billion times bigger than sunny, it doesn't matter if sunny turn into a mecha, sanjuan wolf is still much bigger.
What would really be low blow is that despite Hodis apparent weakness to Luffy there was some sort of plot-kai to make him stronger, like unecessarily so
You guys speculating about Chopper's other two forms seem to forget that his "human" form is one of his 3 "default" ones, which every Zoan has - it doesn't make sense if it's mixed up with something else, just as it's impossible that he now needs a drug to enter the form which his fruit is all about in the first place. So that leaves the other remaining mysterious form to require the Rumble Ball, while his human form, just like his full reindeer form, has probably undergone a huge maturation process.
However, I'm still confused with him. I don't like how he just got rid of his old forms, I liked the old ones.
Patience, Juvar.
I'm sure that Oda will give you reason to like the new forms even more than the old ones.
In the end, I won't be surprised if Chopper doesn't have any "forms" at all, but is simply able to reshape his body at will to perform nearly any task imaginable.

I agree with this as it seems that this is exactly what high level zoans do. Just look at marco, who is probably the strongest zoan outside of sengoku, he can make any specific part of his body take phoenix properties. I am pretty sure I remember a point where it was just his right hand and a point where is was just his wings.
Not sure if its been stated. But maybe choppers form that needs the rumble ball is like a giant form. Similiar to monster point. Only instead of just being big and strong he is fully in control.
So when he took that rumble ball it allowed him to go giant guard point as opposed to his normal sized guard point.
Well as I said I'm just confused about it. I like the new ones so far, too. It's just that the old ones were pretty cool. Loved that one scene where he got attacked by chessmarimo and just swiftly changed around his forms to avoid being hit. :ninja:
I know what you mean, Juvar.
I liked it when Chopper was able to avoid being hit by Oars by switching into brain point at just the right moment.
Yeah, I'm a little confused about the forms as well. Let's just wait it out. I'm sure that Oda will explain it all very soon when Chopper gets his big fight.
@ Brizan:
Yeah, I expect that all of the best zoan users can expand control of their fruit through life return and battle experience. Chopper will probably be the most versatile zoan user in the long run.
