I just heard that the workers have all been evacuated.
I just heard that the workers have all been evacuated.
Temporarily, wich is not news because they already did twice.
I don't know if this have already been discussed but I just read an article that said the japanese legal wall is restricting foreign aid. For example, foreign doctor can only do the minor stuff because you need a "Japanese medical license" for the more complicate thing, foreign supply are store in a warehouse somewhere in Tokyo that need "permission" to go out. There a few other thing so just go to yahoo new or time.com to read it. Sorry for the bad grammar, I'm typing this on my phone and it getting late here.
Don't know if anyone posted this yet but PSN also launched a donate for Japan action.
You can make donations $2, $5, $10, $25 and $50 on the North American store; €2, €5, €10, €20 on the UK store; and R20, R50, R100 and R200 on the South African store. If you do any donation you get the Sunrise blossom theme as a thank you.
!
Seems like a pretty nice move and easy way for people with a playstation to donate for Japan without using a credit card if they can't.
A lot of places have been doing it. Play-Asia have been donating money from products they sell. (I got me a 3DS case) and HLJ added 1 or 2% on everything and gave that.
Newspaper made me laugh today. Rememeber last week when the picture of the repaired road was posted? The one that was destroyed and rebuilt by the 15th or so. Newspaper today said 'Destroyed on 17th. Repaired on 23rd'
Reportedly the first images of the Fukushima workers from inside the Fukushima plant: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1369216/Japan-nuclear-crisis-Fukushima-Fifty-pictures-inside-nuclear-power-plant.html

These workers must be very brave indeed to be working under such conditions, because this looks frankly awful; dark and dangerous. I really have no praise to offer that could even adequately come close to commending these individuals on the job they're doing, and the risk they're taking to protect the well-being of others. Truly impressive stuff.
Don't know if it' been mentioned but for those who have an account on Tumblr and are interested in donation:
Tumblr's taking donations for Japan too - the donation box is at the right side of the dashboard. I donated from there also. Though seems like you can only donate once as the box becomes a note saying how much has been raised afterwards. For example right now it says "$43,880 raised for Japan so far."
how are things now. not just with the plant, but with everything else. nothing in the news anymore. i guess there are still rolling blackouts. is the weather any warmer? what else?

Rolling blackouts continue around Kanto. Many in Chiba Prefecture (particularly Urayasu, near Disneyland) are still without power or gas due to disruptions of underground lines, and a good number of houses are no longer level, tilting just perceptibly enough to be unsettling. Continued cycle of progress / setbacks at the nuclear plant in Fukushima, as each bit of progress they make seems to reveal something unfortunate about the state of the reactor(s). In particular, contaminated seawater at up to ten million times normal radioactivity raises concerns of a breach in one or more of the reactors. Radioactive iodine has been found in tap water around Tokyo, occasionally spiking above acceptable levels and resulting in warnings not to allow small children to drink it. (The half-life is quick and levels generally return to "acceptable" within a day or so, but it's caused buying runs on bottled water across Kanto, leaving most stores out of stock).
People in Tohoku are continuing to be just getting by, while many just decide to get up and leave as transport links are restored. A select few return to still-livable homes, but face bleak prospects for a return to normality. Places are being opened up for free around the country to temporarily house displaced people, including some facilities in Osaka. Number of dead is over 10,000, while number of missing is perhaps higher than the official count due to entire families being wiped out – nobody left to report them as being gone. Still below freezing in the quake-hit area, which is seen as good news/bad news: bad news because of the people in shelters without adequate protection against the cold, and good news because the stench of death (and unwashed evacuees) would be overpowering if it were warmer; the cold gives them more time to find bodies and arrange burials/cremations/hot baths.
In western Japan, it's becoming harder to find certain foods that are mainly produced in Tohoku, and JR West has started cutting back on train runs in more rural areas (such as around Hiroshima and Fukui) due to a lack of spare parts (the factory is in Tohoku and remains shut down). Also, I tend to come home with no spare change because I feel guilty about just walking by people requesting donations.
I hope those people will get help as soon as possible and those who are missing will turn out to be alive. At least most of them.
was this posted before?

fuck, it's so hypnotising.
@The:
BREAKING: Magnitude 6.5 earthquake rattles eastern Japan again; tsunami alert issued
holy shit .
… wait what? xD
Hey, just in case you guys want to be involved in the Japanese relief right here and enjoy poetry, the mission of the poem collaboration is now to donate all proceeds to the Red Cross to offer Japanese relief.
Figured I'd drop that here for you guys real quick.
What is that a picture of exactly?

My first reaction:
Greg, I didn't know you were that famous!?
Heh, that's hilarious.
Beat Takeshi was listing up examples of people that annoyed him in the time of crisis.
Anyways, one of the lines basically says Greg, who always said he wanted to be a Japanese and took free residence at Todoroki Base, packed up and went back to his country right after the disaster.
Todoroki Base is Takeshi's show.
I assume he's poking fun at a foreigner staff on his own show, who ran away from Japan.
… OOOH. Now I get it. xD Hahahaha~
… wait what? xD
Sai–it's a picture of a sort of comedy show in Japan, I guess, in which they talk about "funny" events of the week, maybe? Anyway, the story on the bottom left says something about someone named Greg who "said he wanted to be Japanese, but he left Japan in a big hurry" perhaps due to the recent earthquake and Tsunami. You know, dark humor about the events, teasing this talent about leaving, etc. Just funny that his name is Greg, too.

Haha, thanks Buster Call~ <3
beat takeshi is the best
Beat can be funny, but edgy. I used to prefer Sanma myself–at least what I understood of what I watched, anyway.
"The alarms blared
My heart stopped
images of the destruction
A perfect work of art
Grabbing our treasures
"Run" to higher ground!
Roads are blocked
The alarms blare again
Something wicked this way comes"
My 9 year old cousin made this poem as we waited out the tsunami in a parking lot in Hawaii.. we lived here all our lives and our parents lived through the tsunami that wracked hilo long time ago. We were so afried as we watched and listened to the destruction on our parents portable tv set. We are not japanese but we love the country and their people. We pray and hope that they will make it through and we hope that there will be a brighter sunshine when it's over

Anyone can do a quick trans ?
Translators are off partying somewhere as of current time. :(
Damn them and their orgies !
Heard they found plutonium in the soil, which is a very bad sign.
ANOTHER earthquake? Christ!
Anyone near Sheridan College, in Ontario Canada; they're holding a raffle fundraiser on Wednesday to raise some money. I have Wed off, so I'm gonna travel there and go dump some money.
I've already donated, I think a month or 2 down the road and I'll donate again. David's Tea in Canada have finished their fundraiser. remind me to go harass their web page to do it again. They should have the results for the fundraiser sometime this week.
If I had more time, and somewhere to go do it, I'd do an onigiri bake sale somewhere and raise some money. :3 You usually need permission to do that somewhere though, and then they charge you for being there. kinda counter productive imo.
My workplace is collecting money donations for the relief effort in Japan. I'll be pitching in.
@No:
Anyone can do a quick trans ?
My trans:
Luffy: I'm all right!
Usopp: It doesn't matter whether you're okay!
Nami: It's our turn to cheer you on/help out!
Me: God I love Oda.
Wow, the coloring on that looks great, especially the shading and small details~ Although, the fact that Sanji and Nami's heads are breaking into the foreground despite being in the background is funny. lol I know why he did it, it just looks kinda awkward and hilarious. /artmode
Other news: Awww. I just love Oda. <3 He put some real work into it, you can tell.
I just read that my hometown had a fundraising campaign ths weekend and they actually collected 40.000 Euros. I was at the event, but I would have never guessed they would raise so much money. Awesome!
And that pic is fantastic. I simply love Oda.

looooooool. Oh Oda, you lovable bastard.
Note: I think it's Usopp, Zoro, Sanji, Franky, AND Chopper who are saying the second line, not just Usopp.
Browsing around a bit through news articles here and there and anybody else agrees with me that Shimizu Masataka (CEO of TEPCO, the company that runs the Fukushima plant) is a total moron?
Just listen to this…Just after the news of the explosions in Fukushima hit the TV, the guy can't appear to work "due to sickness". And he might have locked himself in his office FOR A WEEK instead of making any public statements.
Dude...I know he's in a tought spot, but damn...
Also the company itself is completely retarded, since they seriously hesitated to cool down stuff with saltwater in fear of destroying the plant. Destroying as in "not being able to use it any more in the future... IF THINGS DON'T GET OUT OF CONTROL BY THEN".
Only after the prime minster spit fire in their faces they started to get going. Is this how they manage serious stuff like that???
where is your family located BC?
derp. her japanese relatives in japan bright eyes.
LOL. You are both right. I am from NY, but my inlaws and quite a few friends are in Japan. My husband's family is over on the south western side of Honshu, way past even Osaka, north of Hiroshima-ken, in Shimane-ken. They are, for the most part, absolutely fine. We have many friends and a few cousins living in the Tokyo area and the surrounding environs, though, (Saitama, Chiba, Yokohama, other spots) and it is for these people that I, selfishly I admit, worry most. I worry for the entire country, too, of course, as you can't really live there for any length of time without leaving a bit of yourself there, but it's the people I know that I worry about most.
so the weather in Canada has been getting better this past week. I hope the same has been happening in Japan, as I heard that was making it tough for people in shelters. Also, has there been any word on donations getting there and what's been going on to help.
