If Chopper was in a different location farther off the beaten track, the paper may just have been arriving. By talking about sorting out the details of the war, he could have just been talking about the setup of the war itself, not the aftermath, and it makes sense that Oda would be showing us the crew's reactions to the news of Ace's death (which, along with the unknwown state of Luffy's health as it would be reported, accounts for the shock Chopper showed.)

I can see why you think it could be wrong–it has been a couple of weeks sicne the war ended, and there were already reaction shots of the world's reaction to WB's death, but I also think its reasonable that the newspaper delivery may be spotty at both Chopper and Usopp's locations, and they are just getting a recent edition with details they may not have read before.

I can agree that since it appears Usopp just saw the news Chopper could have as well. But with that kind of shock set up at the end of the chapter? No way it's just Luffy was involved with the war and Ace died. It is something us the readers don't even know.

You first go after Hancock then you stir up a reason to handle AL later. Unless you think they're ready to BC them now.

Oda could easily spin the situation so it isn't revealed that Luffy is being helped by the ppl of AL so Smoker doesn't further have to be suspicious of her. Not like he'd be heading in there expecting her to help him anyway.

The reason for the rebellion doesn't need to make sense past that it is stated that it happened. Civilians of the world aren't well informed on AL's hierarchy ans at best know of their empress Hancock. Hancock's death serves as a cover up for her assassination. Getting in to details won't matter since it's not like the WG would be sparing AL.]

Lastly, all that speculation could be thrown out and Oda could just be building a legitimate case for Hancock to be exposed where the consequences won't occur now but much later.

Yeah I can see how that'd be a possible outcome. I can't argue your logic, and you've been reading longer than I have and probably have a better handle on Oda's style, but I do know this is not the first time I felt like a chapter ended with an overexagerted reaction to some news that ended up being not really that big an issue by the next chapter, lol. I'll see if I can dig one of those times up…

I can't imagine Kizaru simply just say "Well SH is away... Have a nice life Rayleigh"

well maybe they are on a "high" right now with having announced to world about making a war with WB and winning and figure keep doing it and figure easy to quickly go and destroy amazon lily as you all say it would be.

thus chopper is like not again, for a buster call, because it also mentions how they suspect that Luffy is hiding there as well.

We have a couple weeks training quick, then buster call arrives and shortly after all the strawhats arrive as well on the sunny. Be a quicker short battle to show us how much they have all improved over this time away.

Between the Strawhats, Hancock, Amazonians, Jimbei, Sea Kings in Calm Belt, Thousand Sunny oh and lets not forget Rayleigh it would be a quick work of buster call even if they send an admiral there.

imagine their surprise to see rayleigh there, lol. but it would be sweet to see the 10 ships out firing cannons when all of a sudden a non coated sunny comes and starts coup de cannoning them to shit (or whatever the main cannon attack is called) and sea kings following sunny notice all the battle ships and fight while jimbei is also kicking major tail in the water.

then throw in the 5 vice admirals or maybe kumabots fighting luffy, hancock and others with strawhats coming to help out mid battle, while rayleigh holds off an admiral.

great time for luffy to start learning about haki in battle, while we get to see the upgrades the other strawhats get and finally get a victory under our belt and not run. I mean even enies lobby was a RUN/ESCAPE in the end. We haven't had a complete win since skypiea really.

The WG knows that amazon lily doesn't get newspapers unless they take from other ships and if they suspect they are harboring luffy they would not leave and be blind.

but mainly i just want an attack on amazon lily because i want to see some EPIC SEA battles. Just imagining the sunny arriving at crucial point with sea kings in toe leading to a fight on the seas invovling battlships, thousand sunny, jimbei and sea kings. would be sweet seeing them defending and attacking off both marines and sea kings.

I think croc said it best at impel down when he is like we are on a battleship too we can attack and not just defend. I want some attacking by thousand sunny. can you imagine the marines face when the sunny would use its secret cannon on their ship. like imagine it just blowing apart two battleships and seeing thousands of enel faces, and also the vent behind that does the coup de burst blasting away seakings behind. Screw the strawhat crew, i want the WG to recognize their ship also as OMG

No one said that the WG would immediately attack AL if Hancock lost her title. It would just lose its protection and would be potentially prone to attack if the WG decided they needed to. And as I said way before, the WG aren't going to do anything major like that in the wake of the war, since it would make the public realize that the world is in chaos now. If they wanted to finish her off, they would have done it secretly, as not to draw attention to the matter.

Yeah the entirety of the world can't tell the world is in fucking chaos when there's pirates all over the damn place and guys like Garp have to setup shop to defend their hometowns, the entirety of the world is oblivious to the state of the world… right. Gotcha.

While you're flaunting your college education, how can you see an attack on AL now as good storytelling? With the Whitebeard war just finished, such a war for AL would feel relatively insignificant. It would also undermine the significance of the WB war to an extent, as well as the end of Ennies Lobby. The marines don't just go to war for no reason. That's what makes such declarations of war more powerful. To have it happen again so soon, though, would just make it seem much more common than it actually is. Do we really need to have the SHs go against a Buster Call again so soon? Do we really need Luffy fighting against a large military force like he just did at Marineford?

Apparently you either can't read or lack reading comprehension because I clearly berated Loled for doing just that by stating that lots of this forum population are in or graduated college and that he shouldn't make it sound like it gives him an authority in this discussion of a children's comic just because he has a "college education in creative writing like Zephos thumps his chest". The marines pretty much won the war and sent out the feeling to the population of the world that you don't fuck with them and backing up the threat that they gave Hancock would fit right in with this theme of "respect the marines authority and don't mess with them". AL attack would just add to the overall chaos of the changing world.

I wouldn't have as much of a problem if it happenedd much later, but it is not going to be the next thing Luffy faces. It's too soon in the story. And they never threatened Hancock. Only people without authority scolded her. Again, as far as the higher ups know, she's part of the reason that the marines won. They consider her a force to be reckoned with and they don't want to lose such a valuable asset.

Thinking of the fact that they could attack AL, they would probably threaten her with that again before actually causing damage. As far as they know, it worked before.

I certainly wouldn't mind a scenario where the strawhats are pitted against a few Vice-Admirals at all. And that, without much more detail, is a situation that hardly sounds like terrible writing to me.

Even with all this text I do not mean to say that I'm in favour of AL being attacked, I'm simply saying that you discard a possibility without there really being a compelling reason other than your god awful lack of vision and taste.

The WG lost a lot of forces during the war, had Jinbei and Teach both resign (the latter also adding Level 6 prisoners to his crew and Newgate's DF), and they got rid of Moria due to them viewing him as weak. With the world in chaos and Teach rising up in the world, I doubt the WG would want to eliminate another Shichibukai for simply attacking some Marines and Pacifistas. As it has been said, the Shichibukai have gotten away with attacking Marines before and the WG has enough on their plates as it is.

I do think there is a high chance the WG will think of looking for Luffy at AL eventualy .

First she suddenly wants to go to Impel Down and see Luffy's brother . Then after she arives (and the monitor snails stop working) Luffy just apears inside of ID without any ship or anything .

Then during the war she saves his life twice , and even mentions how "love is a hurricane" to Sentomarou .

I mean these are big clues aren't they ?

I must admit that to me it all boils down to "I want to see AL attacked my strong marines" just to see how the amazons will fight. And at the end i want hancock to go down. That's just how terrible her interactions with luffy are.
That argument "Oda using Rayleigh to send us a message" is strong and i have to admit that i can't counter that.

To be fair it also takes a lot for someone to loose his warlord title as we saw how it happened with jimbei. We shouldn't forget that.

I don't get why people believe that the WG will go out and seek Luffy right now? Weren't the SH's closely watched by the government? Therefore, wouldn't they wait to hear for his next move, then seek to destroy him? We have evidence that the Marines wait for their enemies to make their next move. Such as when Sengoku stated, "They are following the log… They are coming closer to Marineford... etc". Or in Vol. 0, where the Marines were notified where Roger was next, and went to go after him. This suggests that they don't always search for their enemies. Just to be clear, I never said that they never search or investigate anything. They are always on the look-out for threats. But to me it would just be a waste of time on their part to search for someone like Luffy who already has the tendency to make his actions public (meaning the WG can't hide his actions), rather than wait for his next move. For all they know, Luffy has given up on his dream, and has gone into hiding for the rest of his life.
