Well, i studied literature and i'm friend with a lot of artists and self-called artists so these kind of discussions are common ocurrence in my facebook and each and every one of them are FUCKING STUPID AND UNINFORMED BY BOTH SIDES LIKE THIS ONE. So yeah, it really gets me angry cause i just imagine that this must be the level of discussion almost everywhere and i get really sad cause it means the world is fucked not by evil but by stupidity.
Also, i need to go to a meeting and i can't wait anymore for Buggy's match in the tourney.
well i think the common person doesn't really give much thought to these sort of topics, so one ought to expect the level of discourse to be pretty mediocre
not to mention, if you're expecting to log onto Facebook of all places to engage in serious consideration of gender with your dumbass friends, I imagine your sight's pretty far off to begin with. for what it's worth, I go to a really prestigious university where this sort of discussion is rampant. I personally don't care a whole lot for it (which is not to say I'm adverse to it, but that I feel detached, neutral), but for every numbskull purporting his shallow opinions about transexuality there's an army of people chasing after him to beat his or her head in with Foucault and Judith Butler anthologies. the point being that the sort of informed, motivated discussion of these topics that you desire really only occurs in certain rather isolated sites. outside of that you'd be lucky to get some grump say he supports gay rights or believes discrimination against woman is still present in the work force. I enjoy One Piece because it's, well, silly. I don't come here to talk about anything very serious (which is not to say that it can't warrant such discussion, but that the expectation of it is ill-grounded). if you're really interested in these topics, and I suppose it's good that you are, go to a forum that specializes on the matter. gender theory has only recently begun to permeate the vernacular; while promoting this process is surely of worth, as I said above, this is above all a forum for goofy rubber man vs. evil flamingo man.

The thing about AoT for me, and it might just be me, though my friends have been known to agree on occasion, is that the story is more interested in it's plot than it is with it's characters.
I think this pretty much nails it. The basic premise for the series is pretty interesting and I think a lot of the twists have been really exciting, but the characters are absolute shit. Eren especially (ILL KILL THEM ILL KILL ALL THE TITANS)
and I think the fact that the plot is really fucking awful right now exemplifies that the series has nothing going for it in terms of characterization
