WTF? Everything makes sense in Lost, you're not "using your brain" enough
Darlton should discuss the script more or less like this:
Lindelof: "damn, why can't MiB attack the temple? how can we drag this?"
Cuse: "i dunno, just put a random japanese man with a cliche backstory living there for a while"i love Lost, but i'm not blind. the series was full of shit like this over the last three years. it USED to be character-driven.

Like for sure. Total cop out. I mean, it's not like they offered up any hints. If they actually offer any hints to that nature people would have guessed a long time ago. Right?
http://apforums.net/showpost.php?p=841250&postcount=488the cabin and other stuff that didn't make sense.
How do you figure? The cabin was built by Horace for his wife and son. Jacob lived in the cabin for perhaps quite some time after the purge. The cabin was protected by the ashes which MiB couldn't cross. The ashes seem to be those of previous protectors, perhaps farther back than Jacob's 'mother'. When Hurley 'visited' the cabin it's possible that given the vanishing nature of the structure, it may have been the first of many visions he would have or perhaps something Jacob OR MiB wanted him to see. When Claire was taken away she was probably coaxed into breaking the line of ash which freely allowed the MiB to enter while giving Claire a safe place to stay.
Wow, that was really tough wasn't it. I just spent like…10 whole minutes trying to recall everything we ever learned about it.
Lindelof: "damn, why can't MiB attack the temple? how can we drag this?"
What reason was there for him to previously attack it before the candidates were there when he could use them to his advantage.

Wait…
People hating on the ending is because of the spiritual aspect of it...
And because "nothing was answered"?
What the hell is wrong with humanity?
I don't care if your an atheist, buddhist, christian, muslim or whatever you want to call yourself... if you didn't like the ending you either:
a) have a black soul
b) are not able to comprehend shit that's not layed out for you
c) are trollin' -
You're thinking of Desmond.
I don't understand why every time something is popular, retards must make a hate movement against it. People wonder how Hitler got the entire German nation to follow him, hell, you could get the millions of 4chan fags rally beside you against something popular enough.
Watch the god damn show before you critique it.
I didn't love the ending either, but I have more right to judge it than you, that's right I'm better than you, because I've actually seen every episode.I ve seen every episode, and I "checked every episode more than you ever did.

My official review.
Why You Hated the LOST Finale and Why We Loved It
Yesterday was one of ‘those’ days. I wanted everything to go perfectly and from the start it was a complete disaster. I had a pile of tests to grade so I went to school two hours early and started crushing the dreams of students with my weapon of choice, a yellow Bic pen, by furiously subtracting points left and right while listening to my staple test-grading music of choice, ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’, on loop. After two hours I finished 4 class’ worth of papers just in time for the morning meeting only to find that my coworker who requested the tests be done before 1st period wasn’t coming to school since his wife having their second child.
No big deal right?
Not having a class myself 1st period, I spent the time grading the last 4 class’ worth of tests while searching for a live stream of ABC so that I could catch some of the LOST recap. No such luck. All feeds were blocked at the school.
As we were starting the second half of the semester, I like to spend the first and last weeks of every half-semester watching LOST with classes. It gives them a chance to relax before and after their major tests and gives me a solid week to come up with a full lesson plan for all my classes for the half-semester. I keep track of how far each class has seen and keep copies of the LOST DVDs in my backpack at all times so there was never a doubt in my mind that I wasn’t properly prepared for my second period class. Two minutes before the 2nd period bell rang I opened my backpack to look for the DVDs and they weren’t there. I shuffled through the papers on my desk. No DVDs. I opened all the desk drawers. No DVDs. Checked the backpack one more time. No DVDs. Here we go.
I quickly inform my supervisor of the situation and ask him to take care of the class until I return. I was going to bike to the video store, rent the damn DVDs, and come back. But what’s this? Of course I forgot my wallet! Only I didn’t actually forget it. I made a choice in the morning NOT to bring my wallet. See, when I carry cash I have a habit of spending it on food I don’t really need to eat. So before I left for school that day I deliberately left my wallet behind and actually brought exactly enough money with me for chocolate treats for 1st year students which I had already purchased.
So first, back to the apartment. That’s 4 minutes right there. Only after I was almost at my house I realized that I placed the equivalent of $300 in my backpack for a payment to the school but didn’t need to pay immediately so I could have used THAT money to save time.
I ran in the house to get money to rent the DVD and what did I find on the table? The LOST DVDs. Hurray! That meant I didn’t have to rent them! But wait! I checked my schedule of where each class had seen until and although every other class was at furthest on the 1st episode of the 5th DVD, the very next two classes were on the 6th DVD which I hadn’t burned yet. Figures. So I started to run out the door when I realized I needed a plastic shopping bag to wrap around the flimsy paper envelope I keep the DVDs in. See, this entire time it had been raining on a Noah-scale and my major mode of transportation is a bicycle. So I was already soaking wet in my work clothes but I didn’t want the DVDs to get damaged so I swooped back into the kitchen and opened the drawer where we store plastic bags only for it to get stuck on the rice-cooker electrical cord. By now I was officially pissed off at the world and I grabbed the cord like it was a venomous snake, wrenched it to the side and flung open the drawer to see it fly across the room sending the open bag of 100 bamboo chopsticks we buy in bulk, showering over the kitchen.
There was fire in my eyes.
I stuffed the DVDs into the plastic bag and tore off to the video store.
I will forever remember where I was when the LOST finale began in the States. At 10AM Japan time (9PM EST) I had just arrived in the parking lot of the Geo video rental store, which opens at 10AM, and arrived to see the doors opened in front of me.
I made a b-line for the lost section, pulled Season 1 Disc 6 off the shelf, tramped to the register only to find that in the 12 seconds the store had officially been open for business, a wrinkly old hag was attempting to purchase a frigging PS3 game for her grandson at the register…WITH A COUPON.
Wait it gets better.
So I check out and go back to school, not even bothering to use my umbrella by this point, and entered the building literally dripping wet. I snatched my computer from my desk and flew up the three flights of stairs to the multimedia room where the students were waiting. Literally kicking opened the door I stamped to the front of the room as the students were wondering if I was really Greg or a fair-skinned swamp creature. We finished off what they had left of Disc 5 and I put in the continuation ie. the video I just rented. As the main menu of the DVD came up I almost had a meltdown on the spot.
It was Season 3 Disc 6.
Some Nimitz at Geo put it in the wrong section. The best part? It was the last one so that meant there weren’t any Season 1 Disc 6’s left for me to exchange it with. This meant the class AFTER them wouldn’t have anything to watch either!
The class I was currently in settled for skipping ahead and getting a glimpse of Season 3 but the class after them opted to watch an episode of So You Think You Can Dance? That a coworker recorded. I had never seen an episode of the show. And I never will again. Who’s that red-haired marshmallow ‘judge’ that can’t shut her damn mouth when she isn’t even yapping? Someone needs to put a contract kill on her pronto.
Now, I was prepared for this next trial but it was an exercise in patience just the same. I was slow to reserve the multimedia room for the week and another teacher had booked it for 4th period. There are only two rooms in the entire school that have blinds that actually block out the sun making it dark enough to watch a film off the school’s portable projector, the multimedia room and the music room. The music room is at the opposite end of the school from the multimedia room. In the 10 minutes between classes I had to lug the projector, the screen, my computer, power cables and speakers from the multimedia room to the music room.
That’s three trips back and forth across the school AFTER breaking down the equipment and then setting it all up again in 10 minutes. Then when it was all over, that’s right, you’ve gotta do the whole song and dance again.
I ‘officially’ have to leave school at 4:20PM so I left my cell phone at my desk to signify that I hadn’t gone home for the day and rushed home after the last bell to begin my warm-up routine for jogging and to clean up the chopsticks. I also went home to start downloading the episode which I couldn’t do from school. Imagine my surprise when there was no 720p (high definition) torrent yet. They’d been good with torrents all season and you’d think they would have been on the ball for the last episode ever, but no. Just as I was about to head to pick up my cell I refreshed the page one more time and the torrent popped up. My first stroke of luck all day.
I picked up my cell, rushed home and started running. About 5 minutes in it started pouring.
Of course.
And me without my plastic protector for my mp3 player.
45 minutes later I dragged myself up the stairs to the apartment and took a shower before checking the download progress. When I did I was crushed. 30kb/s. 30kb/s for a 3 gigabyte file. No worries right? It would surely speed up as soon as it got to around 10%. The rain had stopped again (after I finished running) and I was going to take advantage of the situation to purchase my favorite donuts from Mister Donuts. I may be on a diet, but I like to eat my favorite food when I watch good television and this occasion called for the big guns. So back on my bike I began to 14 minute trip to the donut shop. Three minutes in it started raining…again. I can’t win. I rode there in the rain and attempted to dry off on the way back after it had stopped.
I flew past the door and checked the download speed. It was at 14% and running at 10kbs. The full download was estimated as taking a full day.
That was the final straw.
I went a little ape-shit, a string of profanities escaping my mouth as I paced angrily. There was no point in eating the donuts without the show and my plans for a delicious beef bowl dinner with garlic and cheese from Sukiya was ruined. I sat in front of my computer screen watching the download speed of the file click up and down for 5 dead-silent minutes before jumping into bed.
The next day I’d be visiting my secondary school where I do just slightly less than ‘nothing at all’ and would have to spend the entire day avoiding, um, THE WORLD with absolutely nothing to distract me because all I’d be thinking about is how I wasn’t able to watch LOST.
Absolute final last resort I called my neighbor to see if he knew anything about tweaking torrent speed and he replied, “Actually we’re watching the credits of LOST right now.”
!!!
Long-story short, for whatever bullshit reason, he was able to download the exact same 3gb torrent file in under 2 hours. He transferred it to my portable hard drive and I had my LOST finale in hand at LONG LAST!
I prepared the room for the premium viewing and purchased my beef bowl and sat down at exactly 10:24PM (9:24AM EST) to watch the LOST Finale.
By that point if Darlton had trolled me with Sawyer and Jack inexplicably flying to Canada where they made fart jokes for two hours (actual running times sans commercials) I would have been ecstatic. Honestly though, it was all worth it. And I don’t just mean the day, I mean the six years I more or less devoted to the series as a fan. I’m sure as hell not the most intelligent LOST fan out there. There are some rocket scientists that were decoding pages of complex mathematic equations for the alternate reality game after season 2, so I’m not that obsessed to the point where I’d have to actually use my brain for useful real-world applications in order to advance my fandom, I simply enjoyed pouring over the details. Who was connected to who and in how many ways? How many Easter eggs were hidden in a given episode? What in-jokes and references did lines hold? How were shots framed? What colors were being used? LOST was the first television program where I didn’t just enjoy the story, I enjoyed everything about how the story was told. And that’s why the finale grabbed me from the first few minutes and didn’t let go.
In the opening when we see Jack sitting by what must be the most perfect stream in the world at the most perfect time of day washing his face, I was already delivered a TKO. That shot was remarkable. Take all of Avatar’s CG and it doesn’t match the real beauty of that shot.
Actually I don’t intend to go scene by scene and discuss everything or try to extrapolate some bigger meaning from it, at least not here. That’s something people will be doing as long as there’s debate surrounding something called the Force. But what I did want to point out is how many memories the series gave me as a fan. I just wrote four pages about one of the shittiest days I’ve had in recent memory and because of LOST, I will never forget it and it will always be a precious memory. When I think back on LOST, sure, there are scenes that stick out in my mind as surprising or exciting and emotional, but those are mere moments. The majority of my time as a fan has been spent discussing it, researching it, rewatching it with friends or family and of course the chaos of planning a weekday around a TV show. Now that LOST has ended, they’ve actually given us a gift with a selection of indirectly or vaguely answered questions. The only thing we’re missing now is the 1 hour a week sitting in front of a TV. Everything else is still there. There are still mysteries to debate, friends and family to rewatch it with, searching for more clues and so forth. If you were a fan that simply sat down in front of the television expecting everything to play out for you, then yes, you’re probably a little miffed. But if you’ve spent 6 years talking about what LOST might ‘mean’ then you’ve only just begun the adventure. That’s why the ending didn’t betray anyone that was truly absorbed in the story. And aesthetically speaking, if you weren’t invested in the story and were purely interested in the characters’ relationships or motivations, you certainly have nothing to complain about.
How Juliet and Sawyer recalling a relationship that was developed over a measly three scenes in Season 5, I have no idea, but it did. Big time. Flawless acting.
The room with all the religious symbols together in harmony? Perfection. That’s what it’s all about and that’s what I’ve been saying it’s about for years:
http://apforums.net/showpost.php?p=841250&postcount=488
http://apforums.net/showpost.php?p=1061861&postcount=297And in case it wasn’t clear, for those wondering what the Island was:
http://www.usatoday.com/video/index.htm?bctid=85834211001#/Lost%27s%20take%20on%20religion/85738382001And that final scene.
Vincent joining Jack so that he wouldn’t, “…die alone.”. Un-freaking-believable. It’s a very powerful image that I won’t forget.
So why did people hate it?
Well anyone who says, “I loved it until the last 15 minutes.”, obviously just has serious issues with religion or spirituality to the tune of, “I HATE MOM AND DAD FOR MAKING ME GO TO TEMPLE/MASS/CHURCH/SHRINE/etc. DON’T TELL ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE!” If it took you this long to hate an aspect of the show because it dabbled in spirituality I have to question whether or not we’ve been watching the same program. Even if you’re an atheist you can fully appreciate this work. It’s not saying any religion is true or isn’t, what its saying is, they’re an interpretation of ‘life’. And the program suggests that ‘life’ as we know it on Earth, is linked to that Island. Didn’t like a strange glowing material? Too bad. The real origin of life is still hypothesized as being spontaneous generation, a higher power or something from space. An unstable blinding light seems to fit into any of those categories pretty damn well.
As far as not getting ‘the answers’, I have a feeling this is linked largely to the level of fandom. I’ve been reading article after article lambasting the series for leaving various aspects of the story unanswered as its frustrating reading these articles thinking, “But they DID answer that!”
If you don’t listen to the official podcast or didn’t read summaries of The Lost Experience (TLE) then the onus is on you for missing the answers.
Who built that statue? Answered in the podcast.
Why was MiB stuck in Locke’s body? Answered in the podcast.
What was the deal with Alvar Hanso? Answered in TLE.
Why were the polar bears there? Hell, this was answered in the show itself.
What is Ben’s favorite TV show? Answered in the podcast.
And so forth.
“That’s stupid! We shouldn’t have to track down every little thing!”
Really? So you’re of the ilk that expects to put your brain on idle for an hour each week and let the television entertain you? That’s cool, I can understand some people not wanting to dedicate themselves to it, but I really have to wonder what kept you from getting more involved if you really just wanted to know the answers. You’ve essentially given up 121 television hours to the show, why stop there? Different strokes I guess. However, I hate to use the term ‘true fan’ but I think I’m going to have to call the haters out on this one. I simply can’t accept disliking spirituality or not being involved in the show enough to follow (or bother to recall) all the facts as a reason to hate the finale or the series.
If you didn’t like the character motivation, the acting or the production quality, that’s something I cannot argue with or even knock. Either you’re sold on JACKFACE or you aren’t. And since the production turnaround is so short (in this case less than a month) there’s bound to be some suffering in the production department, especially with regards to CG. But I mean come on, we couldn’t see Locke turn to a roiling black cloud of pure human ambition even once? sadface
And I totally feel the call that Shannon > Nadia for Sayid is a bit strange but I think it speaks volumes for how much Shannon meant to him as his feelings were so strong for Nadia, to the point where he knew she could never be safe with him. Personally, they hooked me on Shannon just showing up for the finale so my pleasure with that scene can wholly be attributed to me being a nostalgic emotional sponge.
Other than that, those reasons, even if you’ve plopped yourself in front of the TV for six seasons, 121 hours of TV time is incomparable to the hundreds of hours other fans have spent dedicated to discussing and studying all aspects of the series. And we’ll continue to do so for a long time because Jack’s better than us in that respect; at least he could ‘let go’.

Also... this: http://tv.ign.com/dor/objects/821880/lost/videos/lost_wc_end_052410.html?show=hi
The last minute is a great parody of the people trying to troll the fandom.
-
I think the reason Shannon was the one for Sayid is that she represented forgiveness and moving on for him, while Nadia was all about the guilt he felt for torturing her and others.

Never really thought about those two like that nice logic.

Kaiolino,
No! They didn't answer that question on the show so we can't think about it for ourselves! Face it, it's just another mystery we have to chalk up to them blatantly ignoring!

I would of read your awesome review Greg, but I'm to busy admiring how awesome Faraday is being in project's sig.

I squealed when I seen the shoe from the first episode. Hell even the credits showing the Island beach did it for me.

wall of text
disliking cop-out ending =/= disliking spirituality
like many people have said there was a way they could've been spiritual without just going "god did it and everyone goes to heaven" that's just shitty writing…
that guys sums up most of the intelligent opposition to the ending…

Can someone please ban Lordzeb from this thread? He never even watched the damn show, so he's clearly trolling. I'd love to go in discussion with fans who watched six seasons and were dissapoined, but not some twat who parrots random articles to make himself feel smart and is butthurt about Lost being a popular show.
-
Also, Eloise was completely explained, I dunno if anyone mentioned it or was still confused about it. She new about the island and what would happened before it did because she met them when they went back in time. She told Desmond to "stop" because she had remembered her true self before anyone and wanted to keep them from ever "waking up" so she could live her life with her son alive.
I never thought about her much, but thanks for explaining that. It makes perfect sense when you stop and think about it.
You just don't get it. That guys review basically says it all. For the past 6 years every time i talked to a lost fan about explaining WTF was going on with that show they insisted that all the little hints and clues were just adding up leading to something bigger and they only had to keep watching to find out. But it turns out that they didn't have to keep watching because really they could just watch the last season with a brief explanation of the events prior to it and still completely understand everything the ending had to offer.
In terms of what was revealed at the end i know just as much about the Island as any other lost fan i didn't waste 6 years of my life waiting to find it all out. From what i've been able to gather across the internet it was a great ending for the Lost Characters. Everyone is happy that all the characters got a nice ending and went into the light. But story wise it garbage and anyone who watched that show hoping for an explanation for half the stuff that happened were disappointed. The only people who liked the ending are people who say "well its fine that they didn't explain XX XX XX XX XX and XX, that wasn't the point" I suppose there's some deep meaning there like expecting an explanation for everything would be like expecting you to know God's Plan but just like God Plan is shitty religious writing and no one would take that for a good answer, the same mentality can be applied to lost…its just as big of a cop-out....
You are the one who doesn't get it. You're the type of person who expects someone to just hand you an answer sheet with every question answered. The whole point of this series is that you're supposed to piece together the pieces of the puzzle and form answers yourself. That is more fun and more intelligent than the answers being slapped across your face. It also leaves room for interpretation.
this is fun i love lost fans…
Writing an obviously immature answer to an immature response shows how immature you are. I love you Lost haters for this very reason.
The explanation was even worse than Bleach's ,
Its tha Hougoyoku it gave evryone superpowers and its has limits.
Tha island is the light it creates whatever random bullshit it wants. After season 3, this series were going downhill.
And of course the most ridiculous part in the finale was Smokeman hitting Jack with a stone, and running away while he could stab him with a knife in the throat. Even this didnt make any fucking sense.Don't you dare compare the writing of Bleach to the writing of Lost. That's like comparing the ocean to the sky. I like Bleach and all, but it's level of writing is one cop out after another. Call Lost that if you want, but its intelligence is much much higher than that.
Oh and the end of ManInBlack makes perfect sense.
After Desmond pulled out the stone, in turn screwing up the island's source of power, MIB lost his power and immortality and was trapped inside of Locke's form. Jack also lost his ability to be immune to MIB's attacks.
-
Guys, a friendly reminder.
Gaara is your typical kid, there's nothing wrong with him other than that he doesn't like stuff unless it's Michael Bayified.
A series based on exploding puppies being drop-kicked into homeless people is all he's really asking for.
But Lordzeb is purely trolling and should be ignored. His comments both now and in the past show quite clearly that he's never watched the show, studied the show or actually had an original thought about the show.
Lest we forget, he's the one who didn't think Season 1 offered any hints as to the nature of the show.
http://apforums.net/showpost.php?p=1300800&postcount=70
So just let him be. He's out to get a negative reaction from you. Deal with him as you might Freddy and he'll just vanish into obscurity.
-
Greg, I will read your humongous post later when I have time, haha. I'm sure you already butt raped these attackers.

Well, that's your subjective opinion.
Some people might not want to gather information from podcasts, interviews and rewatch each season to find small hints that were given ages ago, so that you can build your own speculation…After 6 years of following the show, several people just expected some clear answers or at least some bigger hints and you shouldn't be surprised if the average viewer perhaps isn't too satisfied with the final season and see where such opinions come from...
-
lol lordzeb, I remember you were arguing that Lost was COMPLETELY ROOTED IN SCIENCE until about Season 3
shut up

Is it REALLy that much of a crime for sci fi show to have also a spiritual side to it?
Or am I missing something?
(to whoever responded none of the above… ur in denial)

I have watched every Lost episode and re-viewed some, and i didn't like the episode as a finale, it was a good episode, but it wasn't a good finale.
I actually like mystical elements in stories, i like slighly open endings, thats why i dont complain about the 'light' (however, nothing happened to the people in the period the light went out, like Jacob's mother said it would), i actually like the unexplained lighthouse, i like the supernatural element of the MiB being black smoke, i like the way a protector passes on the task.
I'll even go on a stretch and appreciate that it was impossible to have children in the island because the statue of fertility was destroyed (even though it was not explained how it got there)
However, i don't like many things that weren't explained and were essencial to the progression of the plot/character development, Hurley's numbers (i know they were in the lighthouse but why did the guy in the mental hospitle mumble them? why were they good/bad luck ONLY to hugo since they were the candidateS numbers?), Walt's mysticism, why did only some time travel? (i mean, in the Ajira flight, why was Sun separated from the others?)
But one thing that bothers me the most is: what was the point of the series? everybody that defends the finale says that Jack's destiny was to save his friend, then, why did he made everybody come back to the island? they were safe back to their lifes, if they didn't come back, MiB wouldn't be able to kill them and would never leave.
Also, the flash sideways were kinda pointless, they were beautifully told yes, i really like how everybody awakened, (i loved how Hugo and Ben show they had many adventures before they died), but then why was the island underwater? why were Rose and Bernard there since they didn't "anything to do with them"? and as it was already said, Aaron as a baby was just weird.
One thing is to have mysterious things inside the show, other is to explain most things with "the island did it".
I won't start with the under-development of the whole island purpose and stuff like that because there are many details throughout the show that i probably will miss (and eventually missed some in the points i just made).
Sorry about any language mistakes and don't flame me just because I'm not a regular poster (although a regular lurker ), I'm not being biased (i really like lost), I'm just stating stuff I didn't like, even as a fan of the mystical

EDIT:
I have nothing against you Greg, I actually like you as a poster, but this seemed a good example.
One thing is to create some mysteries and leave them open, while explaining the general plot, other is to have any possible explanation to anything is base on maybe's, with this finale, Lost is something that was built on VERY shaky ground, there's hardly anything solid about it, thats my major concernEDIT2: sorry about the double post, shitty connection

I would gladly discuss with you if it weren't for the fact that everybody who liked it for some reason thinks that anybody who disagrees with them is retarded. There is apparently no room for opinion in this episode, it was either good or you are retarded.
-
You guys still can't explain half the stuff that happened in that show no matter how badly you think i'm trolling and just calling me a troll doesn't suddenly fix that. If you honestly can 100% say that between the final episode and Season 1 you can answer all the mysteries Lost left open then you're lying. Its nice that you think you piece it all together but if it was that easy then the writers wouldn't have held a podcast explaining some of the things that were not answered in entire duration of the show. So had the podcast not happened you'd be pooling over episodes obsessively, jumping at shadows, trying to solve a riddle that doesn't have an answer, thats called a plothole btw. You can try to discredit my knowledge of the show all you want but if the writers have to sit down and tell you things they know they left out, completely ruining your idea that Lost is not about simply being told what things are about, then you can't pretend like they had it perfectly planned out all along. Also im pretty sure there was a scene around a fire where they LITERALLY explained what was going on to you…guess they suspended the mystery for that episode...
nevertheless..
-
Not really, I discussed how I didn't like certain aspects, I haven't mentioned that Jacob was a complete moron and should have instructed them step by step: Pull plug, shoot Locke, re-plug in order to save everyone time and trouble.
However all in all, it was what Lost is, it's not a bad finale because it wasn't like Lost, it's exactly what to expect of Lost, it was bad for reasons of closure and open-endedness.
Also I've discussed multiple times the "fail" that was across the sea, and the death of Charlie turning me off due to the shitty reasoning.
-
I never watched a single LOST episode. There is just one thing I like to know. Who or what was that smoke monster?
-
The side-effects of massive amounts of cocaine, used by the people on the island.
-
and the death of Charlie turning me off due to the shitty reasoning.
Charlie was going to die anyway as had been shown through the entire season. He wanted to die for a reason, to get Claire on that helicopter. So don't wah in with "BUT HE COULD HAVE R AN AWAY!!!!!!!"

I don't think people talk enough about Frank Lapidus.
Frank Lapidus surived a steel door that rammed into his face.
He then survived a sinking submarine WITHOUT AN OXYGEN TANK.
Most people would be done with this shit by now.
But not Frank Lapidus.
Not Frank.
Frank Lapidus went on to FIX A BROKEN AIRPLANE.
He then flew off six people, including some who had been on the island for years, and saved their lifes.
Frank Lapidus said "fuck that helicopter, Claire, I'm the one who takes you off the island".
Frank Lapidus then goes on to help raise Aaron together with his two mommies. Weirdest damn family he's ever been part of.
Give it up for Frank Lapidus, people.
Even the first episode was named after him.

Wut? Ahh…whatever I am going to watch it anyway.

How is Xenu & Co. any worse of a story than Smoke monster and God Island…
the irony here is palpable...

How fucking stupid storytelling would it be if, after six seasons of thorough character development, Jack would finally be a complete man of faith, to then have Jacob have him join his little campfire and tell him the scientific explanation of the island?
Jacob: "Well hey Jack you were right all along then you lost it gg."
-
i'm still waiting on those DEEP ISSUES

I hope Disney milks Lost and makes a sitcom about the Ajira 6 living the dream.
I'd watch that so hard.

Ok guy, it's been 3 years, I kept watching it after a 5 month break, I'm over it.

Dude, it's Lordzeb. What did I say? Just leave him be. You can explain evolution to him and he'd ask for more proof. Just let it be, he's not looking for anything resembling a conversation.

Here's what happens when you throroughly explain every last detail of your science fiction/spiritual story:
but… i said i liked some unexplained stuff, just not the ones essential to the plot, having and unexplained main plot device is not good writting, I'm not saying Lost is badly written, but there are moments where they clearly messed up. Where did you see me saying i wanted every last detail throroughly explained?
(and yeah, scientology... I won't comment to not offend anyone, beliefs are beliefs)

(and yeah, scientology… I won't comment to not offend anyone, beliefs are beliefs)
Wouldn't want to offend a religion that in modern history starves and beats its people while making them pay huge sums of money just to remain a member. That'd be wrong.
, having and unexplained main plot device is not good writting
it makes perfect sense to me and with the details they've provided, I don't feel they need to explain it any further. I'm not sure what your take on it is but I feel that I know exactly what it is.
When I use 'probably' or 'seems', that's merely because it's my take on it through the information we have provided.
Some things they've left untouched because they forgot about them or couldn't work them in because of time and/or acting schedules.
But something as big as a central theme. You think they didn't do that on purpose? I know exactly what the monster is and what the island is. But that's my take on it. That's not poor writing, that's letting us find and create and debate the big answers for ourselves.
Star Wars.
Midichlorians 'explain' the Force.
Well where do they come from?
That is exactly the predicament they were attempting to avoid. You can only go so far.
-
The finale made me cry.
I want a Hurley/Ben spin-off show now.
-
Omg, I can't believe you're still arguing about this, it's a manga for 14 year old boys, in a world with devil fruit and people that can lift buildings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!exclamationpoint!!!!!

Just let it be, he's not looking for anything resembling a conversation.Comparing Lost which is full of interpretation and implications to the Theory of Evolution? I am looking for a conversation but instead of actual responses you just type things like this. You're the one not looking for a conversation. Either i agree that this ending was great and answered everything that needed to be answered or im wrong and shouldn't be taken seriously.
You haven't made one post that even entertains the idea that an intelligent Lost fan could be unsatisfied with this ending. You're not looking for discussion you're looking for a group of people who agree with you so you can talk about how much you agree with each other and that's cool but at least acknowledge that instead of trying to say none of my post have any meaning or make any valid complaints…

I have watched every Lost episode and re-viewed some, and i didn't like the episode as a finale, it was a good episode, but it wasn't a good finale.
I'm glad to see someone share my viewpoint here!

Agreed with everything up there.

(i mean, in the Ajira flight, why was Sun separated from the others?)
-the guy mumbling the numbers probably had a bad run in with them, like hugo did
-hugo had bad luck because he used the numbers to win the lottery
-as for the last two questions, when they saw walt in the woods, or when certain people time traveled, it was probably done by jacob in order to move his pawns around the boardBut one thing that bothers me the most is: what was the point of the series? everybody that defends the finale says that Jack's destiny was to save his friend, then, why did he made everybody come back to the island? they were safe back to their lifes, if they didn't come back, MiB wouldn't be able to kill them and would never leave.
jacob wanted them to have a choice like he never had. also, there had to be more than one willing candidate on the island as a safety in case something went wrong when MIB was killed
-the island might have been underwater so that anybody who wanted to go there, such as whitmore, couldn't. dharma never went there so ben never went there, so in the alternate it was a way for them all to come together where they would otherwise be split up.
-rose and bernard weren't the only people on the island (or plane crash survivors even) who were not candidates, so i don't see why this is a mystery at allOne thing is to have mysterious things inside the show, other is to explain most things with "the island did it".
I believe that there's the island's rules, then there's jacob's rules, and then some things like illusions or whatever were him and MIB moving pieces around on the chessboard, as they tried to kill each other.
For example, if the psychic hadn't thought some horrifying disaster would come to claire and her baby if she didn't raise him herself, he probably wouldn't have made her go through the trauma of a plane crash. etc
